Brandi Glanville’s 2012 started off on an interesting note when she married Darin Harvey , her friend and a Mixed Martial Arts manager, in Las Vegas. “[We’re] married!” Eddie Cibrian’s ex-wife confirmed to Us Weekly . Hold off on sending wedding gifts, though: “To make it legal, I have to go to the courthouse today and I don’t think we’re gonna. Super fun though!” “I’m married again- suuuuuuck it!” she wrote Sunday, later clarifying: “We’re not gonna stay married. But it was a fun way to start out the new year!” A source said that The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, who shares two sons with Cibrian, has been friends with Harvey for almost 20 years. The duo are “like brother and sister” and “they’ve never hooked up,” said the source. “He came with her to Vegas and they both got really drunk.” “They just thought it was a good idea at the time to get married. They kissed for the cameras and that was it. There’s nothing romantically there.” Happy New Year and annulment, you guys!
We’re not sure if this is awesome, gross or just plain weird, but Dennis Rodman is going to be holding tryouts for a topless women’s basketball team in New York City. The Basketball Hall of Famer will be trying out and coaching a team fielding exotic dancers from Headquarters Gentleman Club, in hopes of playing a HOT charity game against what appears to be another topless women’s basketball club. This is very random and actually happening . The NBA bad boy dreamed up the team after hearing that rival strip joint Rick’s Cabaret launched a league with former Atlanta Hawks standout Spud Webb, who runs the Texas Legends, an NBA Development League team. Rodman is challenging Rick’s Cabaret’s topless team to a charity game. “I don’t know too many men that don’t like a good-looking woman running up and down around the basketball court,” Rodman said. Really? Are men SO desperate to see boobs that they’ll pay to watch (presumably bad) basketball game to do so? Just peep these Lindsay Lohan pictures instead. Geez. And what is Rodman doing? Didn’t he talk about being a better husband and father in his Hall of Fame speech? So many questions, so few answers regarding the Worm. [Photo: WENN.com]
Unlike most supposedly Real Housewives, Kandi Burruss possesses an actual talent – and she’ll soon put it to use on her own reality program. Bravo has given the greenlight to The Kandi Factory , which will follow around this Grammy winner as she mentors a pair of pop-singing hopefuls. “With her breakout personality and straightforward attitude, Bravo fans have grown to love Kandi on The Real Housewives of Atlanta ,” Bravo’s VP of Development Eli Lehrer says. “ The Kandi Factory will capture a unique look at her successful music career as Kandi transforms two music hopefuls into the next big pop star.” Burruss – who won the aforementioned Grammy for TLC’s “No Scrubs” – returns as part of fourth season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta on November 6. Roles in ‘Dream House’ and the upcoming ‘Cosmopolis’ set her up for a long career, especially in period periods. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Sarah Gadon Photo: Toby Canham/ Getty Images Sarah Gadon has been acting for more than a decade, but now is really her time to shine. This year alone, she appeared in David Cronenberg’s Freudian flick “A Dangerous Method” and Mary Harron’s “The Moth Diaries,” and this week, she gets her scare on in “Dream House,” alongside Daniel Craig, Naomi Watts and Rachel Weisz. Up next, Gadon, 24, re-teams with Cronenberg on the Robert Pattinson-starring “Cosmopolis.” Her work in period pieces and her ethereal, striking looks certainly make her the perfect candidate to stay trapped in a time when women wore more restrictive clothing. That’s why she’s MTV Movies New Class ‘ “Most Likely to Wear a Corset … A Lot.” MTV : We’re always looking for the next exciting talent, and it’s not like you just started acting, so does it feel like a particularly exciting time where all that hard work is paying off? Gadon : You go through different arcs in your career. I think when I was younger, I was definitely into the performance side of the industry. I came to acting through that way, and then having gone to university and studied cinema studies and watching tons of films and understanding film theory and making a conscious choice of working with auteur director marks a new chapter in my development as an artist. MTV : You mentioned some of the directors, Mary and David, two geniuses, talented individuals; how do you build on that? Because that sets the bar high going forward. Gadon : I think when you work with really wonderful directors who have a really strong vision, it lets you as an artist set the tone for your own career. So for me, it’s not necessarily having that kind of notoriety. I’m interested in great work and working with people that have a singular vision, and I think the work dictates that. MTV : Can you give me a sense of Elise [in “Cosmopolis”] and how she interacts with Rob’s character? Gadon : I think it’s a really interesting film, and I don’t want to give away too much, but I think in a really kind of pared-down version of the film, it’s about a young millionaire who loses everything in the course of a day. And I play his new wife, so I’m one of the only characters that really kind of comes in and out of the story throughout the film. We have breakfast, lunch and dinner together, and those are going to be some interesting meals. MTV : Is there someone to emulate? Gadon :Yeah, of course there is. I think there are so many great actresses out there. I think Tilda Swinton is terribly interesting. I think she’s fascinating. I love her work. Kim just cannot win, can she? Just one week after rumors of a planned Kim Zolciak RHOA spin-off popped up online, Bravo has officially announced Kandi ‘s new project: The Kandi Factory. Per Bravo’s press release: Ever since Burruss turned Kim Zolciak‘s single “Tardy for the Party” into a digital download phenomenon, she has been bombarded by thousands of wannabe artists desperate for her popstar secrets. Burruss believes she can turn anyone with raw talent and drive into “something hot” and wants to give aspiring artists a shot at their dream. “With her breakout personality and straightforward attitude, Bravo fans have grown to love Kandi on ‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta,’” said Eli Lehrer, Vice President of Development for Bravo. “‘The Kandi Factory’ will capture a unique look at her successful music career as Kandi transforms two music hopefuls into the next big popstar.” In the special, Burruss will give two protégés the opportunity to come to Atlanta and learn the fundamentals of pop music success. She has identified three factors that have to fit perfectly together to create a pop sensation: the song, the look and the performance. Burruss and her team of experts at The Kandi Factory will work with the two contestants in order to turn them into music superstars. Will they listen to Burruss’ advice and rise to the occasion or will they bomb? Say what you will about Kandi, but that chick is about her paper.
Jill Zarin, Alex McCord, Kelly Bensimon and Cindy Barshop have all been sacked. Bravo cut these four women loose from The Real Housewives of New York City late last week. While readers try to control their tears as a result of this development, a couple of the show’s now-former stars have spoken out about the firing. “I view any change as an opportunity to learn and grow,” said Barshop profoundly. “RHONY was great marketing platform for my national spa Completely Bare, and as an ambassador for children’s charities I was able to create more awareness. There are additional projects that I am considering. Stay tuned.” Oh, we will… NOT! Alex McCord and Simon van Kempen also took the opportunity to plug a product, telling Us Weekly : “After four seasons on Real Housewives of New York City, Simon and I are moving on. It’s a completely friendly departure and while it was their decision and not ours, we are in close communication with both Bravo and the production company about our next move, in addition to fielding outside offers. “Simon and I recently launched a home goods company, Aluxe Home, and we’ve been so involved in the textile market week that began today that it feels a bit like being shot out of a cannon!” Too bad they actually weren’t. Singer also teases fans with two new clips of the song’s video, which premieres Monday. By Jocelyn Vena Joe Jonas Photo: Getty Images Joe Jonas got sentimental on his first solo single, “See No More,” and now he’s getting sexy on his uptempo second single, “Just in Love.” The song hit the Internet on Friday (September 9) and offers another preview of Joe’s first-ever solo project, Fast Life , which drops October 11. “Just in Love” is a Latin-tinged dance track with a thumping beat behind a synthy sound. In the song, Joe professes his love for a girl who may not be clear about his intentions. On the chorus, he sings, “Just running from the truth/ That I’m scared of losing you/ You are worth too much to lose/ Baby, even if you’re still confused/ Girl I’m just in love with you.” The song was written by Joe Jonas and James Fauntleroy, with production by Rob Knox. In a message for his fans on Ryan Seacrest’s site , he explained why he wrote the track. “I am very excited to premiere my new single ‘Just in Love’ for you guys. This is a song I wrote when I was going through a relationship with somebody,” he explained. “She [was] arguing with me, and all I could do was say, ‘Listen, I love you, but we don’t need to go through this.’ So, this is called ‘Just in Love.’ ” In addition to relaunching his website for this next phase of his career, the video for “Just in Love” will premiere on Monday, but Joe’s already giving fans a taste of what they can expect in the sexy clip, which was directed by Jaci Judelson. In a first tease of the video , Jonas is hanging out in bed with his lady love as the pair trade pillow talk about him having to leave her in Paris, where he shot a video with a French model named Angele. He followed that tease up with a clip of the two in a car, snuggling and playing a sort of English-to-French word association game. In the newest tease , the pair is seen running down a busy street in Paris. The video is certainly a more mature one for the singer, and he’s said that that was his intention. “I think fans are going to be shocked and excited to see the video,” Jonas declared recently. The solo songs Joe has released so far have been pretty personal, and the singer said he’s looking forward to having fans to hear that. “It’s exciting, more than nervous,” he told us. “I’m really excited because it’s been a dream of mine for a while to be able to present people with this music that I’ve loved for so long and to kind of show them almost what I like to listen to, what I like to play, and just hopefully that they’ll love it.” Related Artists Joe Jonas
It was important to ‘create a shoe that would absolutely, 100 percent look like the shoe from the movie,’ Bob Gale says. By Eric Ditzian Nike Air McFlys Photo: Nike The news is 88 mph of awesome: The neon-lit Nikes that Marty McFly rocked in “Back to the Future Part II” are no longer part of a fictional 2015 but will soon be available for anyone willing to plunk down a hefty chunk of change. After a daylong buildup of viral videos and a Los Angeles announcement event lighting up the Web like a lightning-struck clock tower, Michael J. Fox himself appeared on “Late Show With David Letterman” on Thursday to show off the limited-edition Air McFlys (formally known as the Nike Air Mag). The proceeds from the 1,500 pairs of shoes, which will be auctioned off on eBay, will go to the actor’s Parkinson’s disease research foundation. “It’s kind of cool because it brings together three populations of people with major joneses,” Fox told Letterman. “The sneaker-heads who love sneakers, the ‘Back to the Future’ guys who, believe me, are out of their minds, in a good way, thank God for them. And people in the Parkinson’s community.” Shortly before Fox’s TV appearance and after a day of hanging out with Universal and Nike execs for the rollout, “Back to the Future” writer Bob Gale called up MTV News to talk about the development. Gale has geeked out with us before about “BTTF” memorabilia, including the Mr. Fusion he turned into a desk lamp , so we figured he’d be the perfect guy to lend insight into the new shoe’s development and how it connects back to their first appearance in 1989. He did just that, as well as assuage our concerns that the Air Mags don’t come with auto laces as Marty’s did in the film. Be patient, Gale counseled us … all in good time. MTV : How did this whole thing come together? Bob Gale : Nike has been thinking about this for quite some time. They came out with those other shoes a couple years ago that were sort of like these, and at that time, [producers] Bob Zemeckis, Frank Marshall and I were approached by Nike saying what they wanted to do was see if they could develop the actual shoe from “Back to the Future Part II.” They expected to do various versions building up to 2015. They would make sure it was all to benefit the Michael J. Fox Foundation. They had me at hello. When we made the movie back in 1989, we had the shoe designed by Nike. Tinker [Hatfield], the designer over there, went back into his old notebooks saying, “What did I do back then? What did I draw?” MTV : So Nike went back to the original concept art for inspiration? Gale : Well, they basically used the movies. There are drawings, which they unveiled during the Universal event. Some of those drawings are Tinker’s original drawings. The one thing they wanted to make sure they got absolutely right was to create a shoe that would absolutely, 100 percent look like the shoe from the movie. Of course, back in 1989, there was no technology to make them light up or be power laced. There are behind-the-scenes pictures showing Michael J. Fox with all these wires coming out of his jacket and shoes to make those effects works. We had a guy off camera who pulled wires and tightened the shoes. Nike figured they better figure out how to do that for real rather than have some guy follow you around all day when you want to lace ’em. MTV : What was the announcement event like today? What was going through your head as you watched everyone go nuts for these sneakers? Gale : What’s cool about these movies is they inspire people in different ways. John Mayer said he saw the “Johnny B. Goode” scene, and that made him want to be a rock star. I meet so many screenwriters who say, “The movie that made me want to be a screenwriter was ‘Back to the Future.’ ” There are people out there trying to figure out how to make a working hoverboard. The fact that art inspires people is the greatest compliment you can have. This crazy idea about sneakers that light up and lace themselves is one step closer to being a reality. MTV : Why now? Why not five years ago or 2015? Gale : Nike wanted to do this in tiers. This is the beginning. MTV : So if this year’s shoes don’t have the auto laces, future years’ might? Gale : Yes! It’s not 2015 yet. It’s only 2011! MTV : I can’t wait that long! I can’t be patient. Gale : No one ever can. MTV : What’s your sense of what this all means to Michael J. Fox? Gale : It’s nothing but positive. He’s thrilled out it. He’s going to be on “Letterman” and you’ll hear it straight from the horse’s mouth. MTV : What’s your recollection of creating and using the shoes in the film? Gale : We were associated with Nike on the first movie because Marty McFly is wearing Nikes on that. We said, “OK, he’s wearing Nike shoes in 1985, what will the shoes of the future do?” One of the things we wanted to do was keep all the elements we had established in the first movie and bring them forward to the future. We had the Texaco station in 1985 and then 2015. We show the movie theater, from a Ronald Reagan movie to a porno movie to “Jaws 19” in 3-D. The Nikes were a continuing element to distinguish between the past, present and future. We thought it was cool at the time. The fact that people still think it’s cool is really cool. MTV : Who has the original power-lacing Nikes? Gale : I think Nike has the original pair. They’re all rotted. They weren’t built to be anything other than movie props. And for the other pairs that didn’t need to self-lace that he used as part of his wardrobe, they must have made a dozen pairs of them. Where those are, I have no idea. Whether they got ditched, stolen, sold, I have no idea. MTV : Now that the Nikes are a reality, is that a load off? No one will be coming up to you on the street and asking why they’re not available? Gale : No! They’ll stop asking me that, but then they’ll want to know when we’re getting the hoverboards. T.I. was a free man for a full 24 hours this week, until the rapper was sent back to jail for getting a ride to his halfway house in a pimped out tour bus. Such a method of transportation is against the law, apparently. How does wife Tameka “Tiny” Cottle feel about this development? She says it’s complete crap and here’s why: Prison officials saw the vehicle ahead of time and didn’t say a word! Heck,
