According to NY Daily News: An argument turned into a devastating tragedy as an Utah man killed his wife and then shot himself early Sunday morning with the couple’s three children in the house, police said. Bret Pepper, 39, got into a heated argument with his wife Jill, 37, in the couple’s bedroom around 1:30 a.m. when he pulled out a handgun and shot her, Lt. Shawn Horton of the Layton Police Department told the Daily News on Monday. Pepper then turned the gun on himself, Horton said. The shocking incident occurred as the couple’s 20-year-old daughter listened outside the room. The girl, who was home from college, then alerted police, Horton said. The couple has two sons, ages 10 and 13, who were also home at the time of the shooting, he said. The calamity does not appear to be premeditated as Horton said Pepper did not leave a suicide note. “It seems to be a shock to the family,” Horton said. “It seems to be a shock to everyone, and it’s especially tragic at this time of year.” Police had never responded to the home before for any type of domestic violence, Horton said. The children are now with family members, but relatives of the family declined to speak to The News on Monday. “That’s what I’m concerned about is the kids,” friend and neighbor Curtis Green told TV station FOX13 in Salt Lake City. “That’s going to be really hard for them, especially this time of year. Girl Dies From Inhaling Dust Off Cleaner Getting an instant high is not worth your life. According to KVAL: Shayla Ream’s family found her unconscious in her bedroom December 13. Her grandfather attempted CPR until medics arrived.The 19-year-old died at the hospital early the next morning. Her older sister Cassandra spoke to KVAL News on Friday at services for her sister. “I wouldn’t want this to happen to anybody else,” Cassandra said. “I really care about other people and for their sake and I know that my sister would care about them.” The family believes Shayla collapsed and vomited after inhaling compressed gas to get high. Doctors confirmed the suspicion. “It coated her lungs as she huffed the inhalant called Dust-Off,” Cassandra said. “When that happened it left no more oxygen to her brain, which shut off all of her organs. And it only happened in a matter of minutes.” Cassandra agreed to talk about her sister’s death in hopes that other kids don’t make the same mistake. “She was in her first semester of LCC, and then she was trying to become a wedding planner,” Cassandra said. “She was starting to become somebody. According to NY Daily News: A man lured two brothers, ages 5 and 8, from their yard in south Mississippi and took them to his camper trailer, where he sexually abused them and slashed the older boy’s throat, authorities said Thursday. The 8-year-old boy is hospitalized and is expected to survive the Wednesday attack, said Don Bass, chief deputy with Hancock County sheriff’s office on the Mississippi coast. Bass said the older brother, with his throat cut, escaped the suspect’s trailer Wednesday evening and ran about 500 yards to a neighbor’s house. The neighbor called police. The children were abducted Wednesday afternoon from a residence in Pearl River County and taken to the trailer in rural Hancock County where he sexually abused both boys, Hancock County Sheriff Ricky Adam said in a news release. Bass identified the suspect as James H. Smith, 41. Smith was released from prison to house arrest in June after serving a few months of a lengthy sentence in a racketeering case involving methamphetamine and assaulting a police officer, according to corrections officials and court records. He was being held on a $3.5 million bond, Bass said. SMH.

According to LaCrosse Tribune reports: A basset hound authorities contend was killed by a La Crosse woman had fractured ribs, a collapsed lung and a cut consistent with a stab wound, according to court records. Prosecutors on Wednesday charged Selina Boulton, 32, with misdemeanor mistreating animals in the 13-year-old dog’s Nov. 14 death. She also is charged with disorderly conduct in La Crosse County Circuit Court. Boulton killed the dog, Jixer, after breaking into her ex-boyfriend’s house in the 700 block of North Losey Boulevard during an argument with him early that day, according to the complaint. Police found the dog dead on the floor, its choke collar cinched tightly to its neck and a frying pan nearby, reports stated. An autopsy done on dog determined it died of asphyxiation/respiratory failure as a result of severe thoracic trauma. Boulton told police Jixer bit her when she entered the house, which she denied breaking into, reports stated. She said the dog was four years past its life expectancy and that “an animal has more rights than I do.” “She did not seem to have any remorse for the fact that the animal was now deceased,” officers noted. Boulton had a 0.10 percent alcohol level after the incident. Her ex-boyfriend in a letter to police said he believed the dog died of a heart attack brought on when Boulton climbed through a window into the house. “She didn’t kill my dog,” he wrote. “I would like the District Attorney to please drop all charges immediately.” The poor guy wants to believe his dog died of a heart attack. Guess he has to believe in something to keep him going since his dog is pushing up daisies now.
