However, just this week, Madonna interviewed with NY1 to promote her Super Bowl half-time show performance as well as her new film set to debut soon, during which she slammed Janet for her prior controversial nip slip seen around the world. When asked whether or not she had any juicy surprises up her sleeve, Madonna responded “I have not mainstreamed and I’m not planning anything naughty. I’m planning something super entertaining.” She then continued on to talk that talk about her fellow chart-topping colleague. “Yep, yep! You don’t have to show nipples to be interesting or and it doesn’t necessarily mean you’re cutting edge if you do right?” That’s a pretty ironic criticism seeing as though Madonna made her whole career off of being naked and being “cutting edge” Source What is behind all of this hate that Madonna has for Janet? Nominees for the 43rd Annual NAACP Image Awards were announced earlier this afternoon. As expected, The Help leads with nominations for Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer as well as white actresses Emma Stone and Bryce Dallas Howard. The movie is also up for Best Motion Picture and Best Director (Tate Taylor). Indie darling Pariah was also acknowledged with Best Actress noms for Adepero Oduye, Best Supporting Actress for Kim Wayans and Best Supporting Actor for Charles Parnell. Some questionable nominations include Tower Heist for Best Motion Picture as well as a Best Actor nod for Eddie Murphy, and Angelina for Best Director for her wartime drama In The Land of Blood and Honey. Had his life not been cut short on April 4, 1968, Dr. King would have been 83 today. But he once said that his number of years were not what mattered: “Like anybody, I would like to live a long life. Longevity has its place. But I’m not concerned about that now. I just want to do God’s will. And He’s allowed me to go up to the mountain. And I’ve looked over. And I’ve seen the promised land. I may not get there with you. Paula Patton has a mission that’s apparently impossible: paying taxes… What’s owed: The IRS filed a $492,583 tax lien against Paula Patton and Robin Thicke on Dec. 28 with the Los Angeles County Recorder of Deeds. The address on the tax lien is a Post Office box in Santa Monica, Calif. Here’s their home in Los Angeles. Buuuuuut it doesn’t seem that they were avoiding the tax man. Their rep said this weekend: “They were just made aware of the issue and it is being taken care of immediately.” Paula has been in tons of movies and Robin just released a new album, we’re just the stacks are there to pay these bills. If you were watching the Tweets then you saw that the general reaction was “Damn, she bad. Why the hell Tip dump her to wife up Tiny?!?!”. Damn, life though?? Wonder if they gave her a year for every inch…?? You may remember the former Mrs. Becker from a story we reported on back in July. Catherine Kieu Becker, the woman arrested in July for chopping off her husband’s penis and throwing it in the garbage disposal, is expected to appear in a Santa Ana, Calif., courtroom Monday for her arraignment. On Thursday, Becker was indicted for felony counts of aggravated assault and mayhem. Since her arrest, she has been held on $1 million bail, and, if found guilty, Becker could face a life sentence without parole, according to ABC affiliate KABC-TV. After Becker, 49, laced her husband’s food with an unknown drug or poison, he lay down, believing something was wrong with the food, according to police reports. He woke up tied to the bed as Becker cut off his penis with a 10-inch knife. She then threw the genitalia in the garbage disposal and turned the unit on, Lt. Jeff Nightengale of Garden Grove, Calif. police, told ABCNews.com in July. The husband had filed for divorce six months before the attack, but police could not confirm why Becker’s alleged motivation. Becker called 911 asking for medical assistance. When firefighters and police arrived, Becker told officials that her husband “deserved it,” said Nightengale. Police found the man, who remains unidentified, tied to the bed and “bleeding profusely.” Becker was arrested on several charges, including aggravated mayhem, false imprisonment and assault with a deadly weapon. Now the question she has to ask herself is, “Was that lil’ prick worth spending the rest of my life in jail??” (pun intended). Who knew you could get life for this kinda isht?? This is a tough one to gauge… From a distance, it seemed like common sense: an ordinance meant to keep children away from an open-air night-life zone with more than 350 places to buy booze, an abundance of strip joints and a 300-year-old reputation for iniquity. But last week, as the New Orleans City Council approved a strict curfew for youths 16 and younger in the French Quarter, it sparked an incendiary debate that laid bare some of the tensions over race and police priorities that the Louisiana city — which suffers from the nation’s highest per capita murder rate — is struggling to resolve as it navigates its post-Hurricane Katrina future. The ordinance, which was unanimously approved Thursday, revises a long-standing 11 p.m. curfew on Friday and Saturday nights to 8 p.m. for the French Quarter and part of the nearby Faubourg Marigny neighborhood. In the rest of the city, an 11 p.m. curfew remains on weekends, with an 8 p.m. or 9 p.m. curfew on weekdays, depending on the season. Councilwoman Kristen Gisleson Palmer, whose district includes the French Quarter, wrote the ordinance. The goal, she said, was to protect children from violent incidents like the headline-grabbing shootings last Halloween night, in which two people were killed and a dozen injured by gunfire on or around the packed Bourbon Street party strip. “If we can, in any way, protect children from that, I think it’s very reasonable,” Palmer said. But in a pair of emotional public meetings, a number of residents, most of them African Americans, criticized the idea. Some alleged that the lawmakers were trying to keep low-income blacks out of the sightlines of tourists. “There is this desire not to have these black males in the French Quarter,” said Tracie L. Washington, an attorney who heads the Louisiana Justice Institute, a nonprofit civil rights group. Palmer, who is white, dismissed the allegations. At the council meeting Thursday, critics said the curfew would result in racial profiling of young blacks. One man called it “the equivalent of a black code.” Another African American speaker said that instead of “sugar-coating” the issue, the council should “just tell us straight up — you don’t want us.” Some worried that police would harass black kids going to and from restaurant jobs, or when they were busking or tap-dancing for tips from tourists. Palmer, the councilwoman, said those kids would be left alone because the ordinance exempts, among others, people at work or headed to and from work. Many critics argued that the new curfew hours would seem more fair if they were enforced citywide. Palmer said her staff was working on a new ordinance to do just that. Ronal Serpas, the city’s police superintendent, said he had asked his officers to be more diligent about enforcing the existing citywide curfew since he took charge of the police department in May 2010. Some French Quarter residents have applauded the new curfew, but other New Orleanians wonder whether police, in enforcing the rules, will be distracted from more crucial duties.
