What The Hell??? Doctors Say Rabies Turned Woman Into An Insatiable Love Machine Before Killing Her

Ummm… A woman who told her doctor she had a sudden, unbelievable increase in her sex drive died four days later of rabies. The 28-year-old, who lived in India, complained that she felt constantly aroused, sometimes with no stimulation at all. Her confounded physician referred her to the Sri Gokulam Hospital and Research Institute in Salem, Tamil Nadu. They discovered that a small bite from a puppy two months earlier caused the disease. The fear of water caused by paralysis of the swallowing muscles is widely known as a symptom of rabies. But it can also cause hypersexuality, a result of inflammation of the brain. Peter Costa, the communications director for the Global Alliance for Rabies Control, said that by the time the disease reaches that stage it is incurable. He said: ‘If you’ve been bitten or suspect you’ve been licked or scratched by an infected animal, you should seek treatment within 24 hours.’ Pet vaccination programmes have been largely successful in staving off the disease in the U.S. But around the world between 55,000 and 70,000 people die of rabies each year, Mr Costa told LiveScience. Most of the deaths are in children under age 15 in areas where vaccinations are lacking. Mr Costa said: ‘Dogs are responsible for more than 99 per cent of human rabies cases.’ SMH. Wow.

Womp, Womp: Michele Bachmann’s ENTIRE New Hampshire Campaign Staff QUITS!!

Awww po’ thang… The hits keep coming for Michele Bachmann. The Republican presidential candidate’s entire New Hampshire campaign staff has quit en masse. The resignations, first reported by WMUR, come as Bachmann slides in the national polls. The five-person team said they felt Bachmann was not committed to winning the state, according to WMUR. When Bachmann came to the Republican debate at Dartmouth college last week, it was her first trip to the Granite State since June. Staffers said that was the final straw. Team Bachmann did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Her excuse was… The Tea Party favorite and Minnesota congresswoman previously blamed her absence in New Hampshire on the debt-ceiling crisis on Capitol Hill. “You didn’t see me a lot here in New Hampshire, and I’ll tell you why: It’s because my first duty was to go back to Washington, D.C.,” she said last week. Two words. Ha Ha! Source

Making It Rain On Them Singing Hoes: Rihanna Does Something No Other Female Singer Has Ever Done As Fast

Depending on how you look at it, this could mean that Rihanna is the best singer in the history of popular music. Rihanna roars to a 20th Billboard Hot 100 top 10 single faster than any other solo artist, as “We Found Love,” featuring Calvin Harris, darts 16-9 in its second chart week. Having first graced the Hot 100 the week of June 11, 2005, with the eventual No. 2-peaking “Pon De Replay,” Rihanna reaches 20 top 10s in a span of just six years and four months, besting Madonna for the quickest collection of top 10s among soloists (from an artist’s first Hot 100 appearance) in the chart’s 53-year history. Madonna tallied her 20th top 10, “Hanky Panky,” the week of July 28, 1990, for a stretch of six years and nine months after her chart introduction with “Holiday.” Rihanna, thus, bests Madonna’s mark by five months. Among all acts, Rihanna’s run to 20 top 10s is the second-fastest. Only the Beatles sprinted to the sum more quickly, taking just two years, seven months and one week between their chart entrance with “I Want to Hold Your Hand” (Jan. 18, 1964) and “Yellow Submarine,” which sailed 52-8 the week of Aug. 27, 1966. The Supremes are pushed to third-place among all artists, having collected their 20 career top 10s in a span of six years, five months and one week in 1964-70. With the vault, Rihanna becomes the 14th artist to garner as many as 20 Hot 100 top 10s and just the fifth woman to earn the honor. Among women, Madonna leads with 37 top 10s – the highest total among all artists – followed by Mariah Carey and Janet Jackson (27 each) and Whitney Houston (23). Prior to Rihanna this week, Carey had been the last artist to reach 20 top 10s when “Thank God I Found You,” featuring Joe and 98 Degrees, blasted 22-2 on the Feb. 12, 2000, chart (a week before it led the Hot 100 for one frame). Notably, in an era where songs can scale the Hot 100′s upper reaches in their debut week solely on the strength of hefty first-week digital sales, all 20 of Rihanna’s top 10s have received radio support concurrent with their moves into the Hot 100′s top 10. Seventeen of the 20, in fact, have reached the top 10 on Radio Songs, with eight bounding all the way to No. 1. And, even the three songs that missed the Radio Songs top 10 still made the list’s top 40 (“Break It Off,” No. 11; “Russian Roulette,” No. 35; and, “Cheers (Drink to That),” No. 13). Go Rihanna Navy, Go! Source

Elsewhere In The World: Sean Penn Has Put Haiti On Hold To Save North Africa

What would Black folks in the world do without Sean Penn in this decade? After basically living in Haiti for an entire year starting last January following the earthquake, Sean Penn, who we’re certain hasn’t abandoned his new part-time island home for good, is now fighting for North Africa. After waving an Egyptian flag in Cairo’s Tahrir Square Friday, Sean Penn has continued west on his humanitarian tour of North Africa. The actor made a stop in Tripoli, Libya, where he spoke to reporters about the state of the country post-Moammar Gadhafi. So what did the star have to say? Penn refused to talk about what his exact plans were in the Libyan capital when he chatted with the press outside his hotel, but he did praise the country’s citizens for their efforts in ousting the dictator, saying he admired “the courage to say ‘we want freedom.’” “It’s an extraordinary thing,” he gushed, adding that he was confident Libya could truly become a democracy. “An enormous price has been paid, but I think there is no question that they can follow it through,” he said. Last week the 51-year-old star was in Cairo, where he was invited by Egyptian-born actor Khaled el-Nabawi to participate in a rally demanding that military rulers speed up the transfer of power to civilians after an 18-day revolt caused the ouster of former Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak in February. Citizens are worried the power will go to Mubarak supporters. Thank you, Based Sean Penn. No seriously… because which famous one of “us” have you heard go there? Source

Eff An iPad! Amazon’s Kindle Fire Is Making It Rain On Them Hoes For Half The Price

Good news for the folks who can’t afford to break the bank for a shady overpriced iPad2 … Amazon just unveiled their new tablet — the Kindle Fire and it’s sposed to be very comparable. At a press event in New York City on Wedesnday, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos took the wraps off the company’s tablet offering. The Kindle Fire will sell for $199, will run a modified version of Google’s Android operating system, will feature a 7-inch display and will be deeply integrated with Amazon’s cloud storage system and its massive online content library of books, music and more. According to AllThingsD’s live blog of the event, pre-orders open for the Fire on September 28; devices will ship November 15. Ahead of the official announcement, Bezos gave Bloomberg Businessweek some of the details about the tailor-made OS and the content that will be available on the Fire. “Amazon has painted over the rough surfaces of Google’s Android operating system with a fresh and easy-to-use interface and tied the device closely to its own large and growing content library,” Bloomberg explains, based on a briefing from Bezos. “Kindle Fire owners can watch the film Rio, scroll through magazines such as The New Yorker or Esquire, and access their music collection on Amazon’s servers.” The device will also run a custom-built “split browser” called Amazon Silk, which “accelerates the power of the mobile device hardware by using the computing speed and power of the Amazon Web Services Cloud,” according to a statement provided by Amazon. “The Silk browser software resides both on Kindle Fire and on the massive server fleet that comprises the Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2),” Amazon’s statement also reads. “With each page request, Silk dynamically determines a division of labor between the mobile hardware and Amazon EC2 (i.e. which browser sub-components run where) that takes into consideration factors like network conditions, page complexity, and cached content.” GDGT’s Ryan Block notes that the WiFi-only Kindle Fire is merely a “stopgap” product, hence its pre-holiday release. Writes Block, “[M]y sources tell me the second-gen Kindle tablet will be out in Q1 of 2012 — yes, that soon.” This Kindle Fire definitely sounds like it can compete, especially since Amazon has such great ebook services. Would you cop one of these or are you Team Apple all the way? Source

The Recession Is TOO Real: Study Shows Number Of Child Abuse Leading To Head Injury Has Gone Up Because Of It

This is so sad… Rates of abusive head trauma in children under age 5 rose during the last recession, suggesting that economic woes may have led parents to lash out against their kids, researchers reported Monday in the journal Pediatrics. The data also suggest that physicians today may want to be extra vigilant for signs of child abuse as economic conditions remain in the doldrums, the team wrote. The notion that economic hardship leads to increases in child abuse is not new — scientific research and anecdotal reports have long shown a relationship. For example, the Los Angeles Times reported during the recession in 1994 about increases in child abuse and neglect in Los Angeles County. In recent years, the co-authors noted in the Pediatrics study, articles in the popular press including this one and this one have again stoked concerns that abuse was on the rise as the economy worsened. Hoping to better understand the relationship, Dr. Rachel Berger of the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and her co-authors reviewed medical records of children under 5 years old with abusive head trauma in three regions — six counties in the Seattle area, 23 counties in western Pennsylvania, and 45 counties in Ohio and northern Kentucky — between Jan. 1, 2004, and June 30, 2009. Roughly the first four years of that period preceded the recession; the last 19 months coincided with it. A total of 422 children in the studied regions, 58% of them boys, were treated for abusive head trauma during the research period. Their average age was 8.9 months; more than three-fourths were less than a year old. Sixty-three percent went to a pediatric ICU. Sixteen percent died. All three areas had significant increases in abusive head trauma during the recession. Put together, the annual rate of the injuries went up from 8.9 per 100,000 before the recession to 14.7 per 100,000 during the recession, the team reported. The researchers did not find any correlation between unemployment rates in the counties and abusive head trauma. They speculated that this might be because official unemployment figures exclude people who are underemployed, people who are discouraged in their job searches and others who might be under economic pressure. But them shady a** Republicans have the audacity to talk about “class warfare” ?? Source
