Florida Man With Confederate Flag Hits Black Couple With His Truck A Florida man was arrested for yelling slurs and hitting a Black couple with his truck according to Cleveland reports: A dispute over a parking space led a man to yell racial slurs at a black couple, point out the Confederate flag on his van, then use the vehicle to ram the man and woman, police say. Donald Lee Hicks, 38, is now facing two counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon in connection with the incident, local10.com reports. He was still being held in the Broward County Jail on a $40,000 bond on Tuesday, the Palm Beach Post reports. The confrontation occurred Saturday when Hicks tried to pull into a parking space on Dania Beach, police tell the Post. Shackus Davis, 41, and Veronica Larkins, 67, were standing in the space to save it for a family member. Hicks reportedly yelled at Davis and Larkins to get out of the way, but they refused. Hicks is accused of then yelling an obscenity and a racial slur, then making a reference to a Confederate flag on the vehicle, saying “Don’t you see what’s on the front of my truck?” He then hit the pair with his van, police say. Davis and Larkins were treated at the scene after complaining of knee injuries. He was 74. The Golden State Warriors announced his death. In 1996, Thurmond was voted as one of the best 50 players in NBA history and is considered among the most-dominating centers in the game. The 6-foot, 11-inch Thurmond spent almost 40 years playing and working for the Warriors. He played 11 of his 14 seasons with the Warriors, and then worked as a community liaison and broadcast analyst. He holds the franchise’s record for rebounds and minutes played.
