SMH… Umpqua Community College Shooting An Oregon community college is on lockdown after a shooting. A reported 10 people are dead and more than 20 others are reportedly wounded. CNN reports: Preliminary information indicates 10 people were killed and more than 20 others injured in a shooting at Oregon’s Umpqua Community College on Thursday, said Oregon State Police spokesman Bill Fugate. Douglas County Commissioner Chris Boice told CNN that the shooter is in custody. It was not immediately clear whether the shooter was injured. ATF agents were on the scene and canine teams are en route to search for explosives, fire arms casings and ammunition, a spokesman said. Earlier, authorities told had said they were responding to reports of an active shooter at the Roseburg college campus. Tacky or nah??? Bride & Groom Bill No-Show Wedding Guests A Minnesota couple is making national headlines after they sent bills to confirmed guests who skipped out on their big day. One of the no-shows recently outed the couple after she says she received an $80 bill for missing their reception dinner of herb crusted Walleye. Kare11 reports: It was a couple weeks ago, Jessica Baker was getting ready to go to a wedding with her husband when she got a call from her mom. “She called at the last minute and had something come up and said I can’t make it,” said Baker. Her mom was supposed to watch their kids. And since the invitation said no children, that meant no wedding. But then this week, she received a bill for the dinner they were supposed to have enjoyed. “You’ve got to be kidding me,” she said with a smile. “It listed, we would have had two herb crusted walleye and there was also a service and tax charge.” The total came to $75.90. “This cost reflects the amount paid by the bride and groom for meals that were RSVP’d for, reimbursement and explanation for no show, card, call or text would be appreciated,” the note read. She has no plans on paying it, but she did wonder what else she could have done. “This is kind of the wild story,” said Sarah Baumann Rogers. She’s the editor of Minnesota Bride magazine and has some experience on wedding etiquette. “Under no circumstances should you choose to follow up after the fact…kind of questioning why they couldn’t attend or much less sending a bill,” she said. “General rule is prepare for about 10 percent of overage or underage when you’re planning a big event like that and catering companies are well aware of this,” she said Hmmm, what do YOU think??? Ben Carson Tells NASCAR Fans The Confederate Flag Is Ok Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson thinks NASCAR fans should be allowed to fly Confederate flags on private property, he said at an event with racing legend Richard Petty on Monday. Via SI : The controversy surrounding the flag and NASCAR reached a peak this summer when racing fans continued to fly the flag in the wake of a racially motivated killing in Charleston, S.C., when nine black churchgoers were murdered by a white man. Petty called the debate over the flag, which is considered a symbol of southern pride by many who display it at racing events, “a passing fancy.” Carson, who is the only African-American candidate for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination, said on Monday that people should be permitted to fly the flag if they want to, even if it is considered a hate symbol by many. “Swastikas are a symbol of hate for some people, too. And yet they still exist in museums and places like that,” Carson told the Associated Press. “If it’s a majority of people in that area who want it to fly, I certainly wouldn’t take it down.” Petty, who retired from racing in 1992, informally endorsed Carson and called him “very humane.” Really?!?

Teaching girls around the world is an important cause for Theron, who said education would help stem the AIDS scourge ravaging her native South Africa. “For me, it’s more personal coming from a country where more people are living with HIV/AIDS than anywhere else in the world,” Theron said. “Education is actually saving lives.” As the talk wound down, one student in the audience asked what the panelists thought about the idea that boys liked girls who weren’t that smart. Obama’s response? Keep your heads in your books. “There is no boy at this age, that is cute enough or interesting enough to stop you from getting your education,” the First Lady said. “If I had worried about who liked me and who thought I was cute at your age, I wouldn’t be married to the President of the United States.”
