Lira Galore Says She’s Always Liked Rick Ross Lira Galore is clapping back at rumors that she’s only engaged to Rick Ross because of his money. Lira recently took to the Breakfast Club with the Bawse who dished on that Meek Mill/Drake beef and INSISTED that Meek didn’t lose. “I think this is what’s good for the culture. […] You will have squrimishes, you will have scrimmages for the top spot. I really feel like they were two little homies in high school who fought over a pair of Js. When the new Js come out they back cool. […] This what you got realized, this is a career. Right now he’s making some of the most popular music he’s ever made, that’s what this [beef] does. The 40/40 Club Racks Up Violations After NYC Health Department Inspection Last Month The New York City Health Department hit Jay-Z’s 40/40 Club with violations for its faulty plumbing and sewer system and for not properly cleaning surfaces where food is prepared. The latter violation, deemed critical, was among the food prep lapses health department officials found after they inspected the restaurant and lounge Sept. 8. “Food contact surface not properly washed, rinsed and sanitized after each use,” health officials wrote, “and following any activity when contamination may have occurred.” The club – where presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton attended a fundraiser last week – was also cited for a poorly installed and maintained plumbing system that allowed liquid to collect in the kitchen area’s floor. The 40/40’s sewage disposal system is also “in disrepair or not functioning properly,” according to the health department’s inspection report. Despite the violations, the lounge scored nine points, enough for it to earn an “A” rating. Restaurants can get an “A” if they get 13 points or less, a “B” for 14 to 27 points and a “C” for 28 points or more. The 40/40 Club’s latest inspection is a huge improvement from its health inspection last June, when it racked up 55 points – enough violations for a “C” – after officials found evidence of mice, use of banned pesticides and that the club wasn’t properly protected from vermin. The health department also said cold foods weren’t being kept chilled, food was being prepared in a way that it could be cross-contaminated, and kitchen staff weren’t checking if hazardous foods were being prepped and served at the right temperatures. One of the women covered in this film is Issa Rae, the well-known producer, writer and director of the comedy series Awkward Black Girl. Although the film covers West African women specifically, all people with bi-cultural influences can relate to the content. The film facilitates dialogue between immigrants and their children with non-immigrants about what it means to adapt and grow in a diverse and complex environment from their perspectives. McGraw-Hill To Rewrite Textbooks After Mom Complains About Slavery Term Book publishing giant McGraw-Hill is saying it will rewrite a textbook after a Pearland mother voiced concerns on YouTube about the portrayal of slaves as immigrant “workers” in her son’s school book . Via ABC 7 Chicago : In the video, Texas mom Roni Dean-Burren calls out the textbook, “World Geography.” Dean-Burren pointed viewers to a section called “Patterns of Immigration.” Reading from the book, she notes the inclusion of slaves as immigrants. “‘Immigrants,’ yeah, that word matters,” Dean-Burren said, “(Reading from the text) ‘The Atlantic slave trade between the 1500s and the 1800s brought millions of workers from Africa to the southern United States to work on agricultural plantations. So (slavery) is now considered ‘immigration’.” She adds, in an adjacent section on European immigrants, that many came as “indentured servants to work for little or no pay.” Dean-Burren continues, “So they say that about English and European people, but there is no mention of Africans working as slaves or being slaves. It just says we were workers.” Dean-Burren also pointed out in her video that several professional consultants and the Texas Advisory Board are listed in the front of the book, and supposedly signed off on the book’s text. She and 15,000 attendees will walk for the fight against double standards against women today, October 3rd. This admirable modern feminist did however, get to speak on her purpose before hitting the march for women empowerment. In an interview with Hello Beautiful , she explained how she experienced shaming at a very young age. She explained, “Because a lot of boys liked me, that obviously made me a whore. If I had a lot of male friends, people would assume I was having sex with them.” After growing tired of defending herself, she reached a breaking point. “It was like, let them say whatever they want to say, I’m just going to go on with my life. I stopped caring and I know that’s a difficult place for women to get to but I can be the mentor and advocate for them to look up to.” She also went on to explain that twerking and being sexy doesn’t make her a slut nor does it make her a bad mother — despite what many of her Instagram followers have to say. She defended her and her best friend Blac Chyna’s parenting skills which are more often than not, up for question. “I’m having fun with my friends, we have a few drinks, we were at the VMAs, we had a good time and wanted to dance in the Uber, that does not make us bad mothers. That does not mean that we’re going to go have an orgy after that. That does not mean that we even have sex on our mind at all. We were just having a good time but people will never ever look at it like that and that’s why I do stuff like that on purpose because that’s when I can talk about it, after the fact. We twerked in an Uber right to our house and put our sons to bed. We sat with our babies and we nurtured them and we put them to bed.” She explains that motherhood doesn’t mean you aren’t allowed to be human. For the thousands of haters on her page, she made sure to make it clear that she is not here to be a model citizen. She adds, “I am not here to be a role model for young girls or for children. I’m not here for that. I don’t want to be a role model. I speak to adults. My SlutWalk is 18 and over. This is for grown women. When it comes to their children or people’s children, I am not raising your children. I’m not here to promote promiscuity at all. This is not about having sex with multiple people. This is about owning who you are as a person and basically you can do whatever a man can do. As he spoke on the deadly shooting in Oregon that killed 9 people and wounding 7 others, he described the tragic incident as “heartbreaking”. Just there after though, he made a jaw dropping comment, minimizing gun violence to “stuff happens…” He adds, “theres always a crisis and the impulse is always to do something and it’s not always the right thing to do” — in regards resorting to more strict gun laws. We were filming on this floating platform in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. “So, against my better judgment I asked someone to hold my phone for me and he accidentally dropped my phone into water and it sank to the bottom. “Cacique, the dolphin, actually retrieved my phone and brought it back up to me. 103-Year-Old Woman Banned From Her Home Church Gets To Return A sickly 103-year-old woman was confronted by police after being banned from her church due to a disagreement over the pastor’s practices. Union Grove Baptist Church of Elberton, GA issued a letter to Genora Hamm Biggs, a 92-year member of the church, stating that she was displaying conduct ‘detrimental’ to other members. She felt that some of the Pastor’s practices were changing the denomination of the church…and thus was put out. Looks like Jesus has taken the wheel because the elderly woman has been allowed to return to her home church after the ain’t isht pastor stepped down. According to The Root reports: Rev. Tim Mattox, who has been pastor of the church for six years said that following news of Biggs’ explusion, he had received death threats. On Wednesday, it was announced that Mattox was leaving along with other members of the congregation to form a new church, at which Biggs would not be welcome. As for Biggs, she’ll be returning to her church home and has even been handed the key to the church, now responsible, along with a few other members, for electing the new pastor, her attorney Ken Dious told Fox News. “She’s elated,” Dios said. “This is the only church she’s ever known. It was her grandfather who started that church.” Thank the lawd!!!
