He considered dropping out, until a teacher overheard Reis singing in the hall one day and asked him to join choir. From there, he made friends and found a niche for himself. The story, combined with Kloeckener’s take on “Lean on Me,” was too much for Steven Tyler. The singer/judge welled up and quickly gave this aspiring artist a Golden Ticket to Hollywood. This is a new one. John Goodman, a South Florida millionaire, legally adopted his girlfriend Heather Laruso Hutchins recently (he’s 48, she’s 42). Why? Likely because he faces a devastating civil on DUI manslaughter charges, and his unusual legal move may be a means of protecting his assets legally. John Goodman was involved in a fatal car accident in Palm Beach, Fla., in February 2010 that led to the death of 23-year-old student Scott Wilson. He could face a long prison term, but it’s his weird financial maneuver that caught media attention, following his adoption of girlfriend Heather Hutchins. On March 6, he will be tried for DUI manslaughter and vehicular homicide, after he allegedly ran a stop sign and crashed his Bentley into Wilson’s vehicle. He then fled the scene on foot as Wilson’s car submerged in a nearby canal. The millionaire did not call 911 for an hour, during which time Scott drowned. Many believe he could have been saved if emergency services arrived sooner. It was later determined that Goodman’s BAC was twice the legal alcohol limit, and if convicted, he could face up to 30 years in prison for the crime. In case you were curious, because there is no blood relation between the two, Goodman can both sleep with and marry his new adopted “daughter.” “There is no incest. If there was it would be illegal, now it is just disgusting; they are allowed to sleep together and can get married,” said an attorney. “It does not change their personal relationship.” By way of this adoption, John Goodman has effectively gained ownership or control of at least one third of his assets, according to legal experts.
American Idol contestants really put Steven Tyler through the emotional ringer last night. First, Reis Kloeckener brought the Aerosmith frontman to tears due to his story of overcoming high school bullying. Then, Ethan Jones moved the rocker by talking about his father, who used to lead the family band until he was overcome by drugs and alcohol and is currently in a rehab facility. That’s something to which Tyler can definitely relate. But Jones has more than a gripping tale; he also has a strong voice. Spencer Pratt tried to make amends with Lauren Conrad on her 26th birthday via Twitter Wednesday, but the fashion designer and former Hills star isn’t listening. “Lauren has moved past all the drama,” a source close to LC says. “She’s focusing on her career and barely has time to interact with the people she actually likes.” “Why would she want to back in touch with Spencer Pratt ?” A fair point. Why would anyone really? The source close to Conrad adds that “in this case, like others, she’s going to continue to do what works best with Spencer and that’s obviously to ignore him.” The world has apparently followed suit in the past year and a half. Pratt, meanwhile, is broke and living at home , but says he doesn’t “have a hatchet to bury” with his former co-star, who he frequently butted heads with. “We had our differences, but the fact is that Lauren was a part of our lives, both personally and professionally,” Spencer Pratt tells Us , as if anyone cares. “After all this time, what point would there be in being angry? Though many fans believed they were the two who would get married instead, their differences in lifestyle proved to be a problem. However, the former couple is still on speaking terms. Radar Online is reporting: “The two have been talking for long periods of time on their cell phones and exchanging text messages. Reggie feels bad for Kim and everything she is going through right now. Reggie had been dating someone that he thought he could get serious with, but he ended that a few months ago. Rob Delaney says Kim should ‘reconsider’ Kris Humphries divorce. First, there was the announcement, followed by the fan reactions and support from the Kardashian siblings . Now, there’s a lawsuit . That’s right: Concerned citizen/comedian/defender of the sanctity of marriage Rob Delaney explained his logic to MTV News thusly: “I’m suing Kim Kardashian and Ryan Seacrest and E! Entertainment Television and Comcast for perpetrating what we now know to be a hoax, their marriage,” he told MTV News on Tuesday. “It can’t be real. I want them to stay married. I want them to stick it out, so as an incentive, I am suing them for monetary damages — but only $18 million, not a lot. That’s just what she was paid for the wedding episodes themselves.” Delaney said the idea for the lawsuit has been brewing ever since he started seeing advertisements for Kardashian and Humphries’ wedding special on various billboards around Los Angeles. “I would drive to work every day, and I would see the billboards for the wedding, and they were offensive to me, because they weren’t normal billboards; they were these super billboards, where they add extra stuff on and make them larger than normal,” he said. “They’re on these super billboards with them getting ready to get married like it was some royal wedding, and then for them to immediately try and dissolve it 72 days later — they renewed their vows on ‘Ellen’ at day 60! What happened in those 12 days? It must have been bad.” Delaney said he thinks the newlyweds-no-more should make a serious attempt to work out their differences. “I will say, as someone who is married, that you are going to go through periods where you hate your spouse for 12 days — longer,” he said. That’s like a blip, and then you recover, and you figure it out together and figure out what the problem was and you grow, and these things that seem insurmountable and awful, you realize they made you stronger. “I want Kim to be happy,” Delaney insisted. “I don’t hate her. She’s a person who deserves happiness, but you have to fight and work for it. As a married man and a dad and an American, I want to make her reconsider. I don’t want the money.
