Romanus Castro Filed $600 Million Lawsuit Against Lee Daniels Over “Empire” Idea Lee Daniels is keeping his lawyers busy this year … having been sued by numerous writers accusing him of stealing their idea for “Empire” … and now another writer has slapped the director with a $600 million dollar suit blasting him for saying he created the hit FOX show himself. A man named Romanus Castro has filed a federal lawsuit against Fox Network, Lee Daniels, Danny Strong and the production companies behind the “Empire” accusing them of stealing his work to create the hit show. The man says that he wrote an original screenplay entitled “The Summit of Beauty of Love.” The story follows a music journalist who falls in love with a musician who is schizophrenic. He says in 2003 he shopped the story around town to various people but never received a response. Castro lays out how similar his story and “Empire” are in the court documents. The author explains that his characters are from Philadelphia like the Lyon family, he says his characters are identical to Cookie, Lucious and the other main characters in Empire – along with them all having a very similar story-line throughout the works. He also claims that several key moments in his book were straight up copied in the first season of the FOX show. Lastly, both works have the main son character coming out as gay. Castro says that his book laid the groundwork for Empire without his consent or compensation. He says he’s furious that Daniels and Strong claimed they created Empire independently because they didn’t. He has filed suit against Lee Daniels, Danny Strong, FOX and the other producers for $600 million dollars in damages for stealing his work.

Miley Cyrus has spent the last couple years proving that she is no longer a child. She's an adult who can get totally naked any time she wants and who smokes a lot of marijuana. (It's true.) But the artist has chosen to go back in time for her “BB Talk” music video, acting like a giant baby throughout the duration of the footage. We're not kidding or exaggerating. The video features Cyrus using recreation props as a pacifier and donning a curly blond wig with a pink bow. She pouts like a little child as she belts out lyrics about the complexity of lost love. It's very weird and very confusing, even by Miley Cyrus standards. At one point, Miley goes from the crib… to a bubble bath… to dancing around with a pacifier while saying things such as, “I don't know what the f–k I want.” Classic, Miley, right? We guess. It makes that whole prosthetic penis thing seem almost normal. The song is the latest off “Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz.” The former Disney actress surprised fans with the released of her first video off the album for “Dooo It!” after she hosted the Video Music Awards in August. A few months later Cyrus, premiered her psychedelic video for “Lighter,” in which the 23-year-old star is nude and sings a midst colorful lights with a joint in hand. We though that was strange. But then we went ahead and watched this video…
You can relax now, Justin Bieber . You can breathe a little easier. Because we think you’re going to like what Selena Gomez has to say here. Over the past week or so, the Internet has been on fire with talk that Gomez is dating One Direction hunk Niall Horan. The case for this budding relationship rests on Selena and Niall allegedly making out during a party in Los Angeles. And then Selena and Niall having a grand old time at an the Santa Monica Pier a short time later. What does Gomez have to say about this romantic rumor? Is she singing certain sexy notes with Horan? “Oh my god! No,” the 23-year-old singer told Entertainment Tonight at Billboard’s 10th Annual Women in Music event in New York City on Friday. But why have the stars been hanging out so much then? They are just good friends, Selena says. “I love him, I always have. He’s amazing,” she explains. Gomez continues to insist she’s single, even though she’s also been spending more time than ever with Bieber over the past several weeks. She admitted to InStyle UK recently that dating for someone in her position can be a challenge. “I hate it. It’s hard,” Gomez told the magazine. “I’m weirded out by the idea that a guy has Googled me before we meet, and that has happened.” We can understand that. It’s yet another reason why we predict Selena will end up back together with Bieber before all is said and done. View Slideshow: Selena Gomez Instagram Photos
Unless you just emerged from the Sarlacc Pit, you probably know that we're less than a week away from the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens . You might also be aware that the franchise has been known to inspire just a smidge of obsessive devotion from fans, which means the Internet has been a breeding ground for wild speculation about the new film ever since the first trailer debuted last year. Some of the theories are totally plausible. (It's entirely possible, for example that Luke Skywalker has been left out of the film's marketing campaign because J.J. Abrams and company don't want to reveal that he's gone to the Dark Side.) Others are wackier than the Mos Eisley Cantina at last call on singles' night. We've assembled a decent mix here, but we've mostly focused on the weird ones, because, c'mon…you're so close to the big day, you don't really want to be hit with any spoilers now , do you? Imagine if someone told you that Vader was Luke's father right before you saw The Empire Strikes Back! Sorry, if we ruined that for you, but we have a strict policy here at THG: No advance spoiler warnings on movies that are old enough to run for president. 1. Finn is the Son of Lando Calrissian…and Princess Leia No one’s quite sure how the theory that John Boyega’s character is the son of Lando Calrissian and Princess, excuse us…GENERAL Leia, but you can blame J.J. Abrams for fanning the flames on this one. Asked about Finn’s lineage in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the director responded, “I will only say about that that it is completely intentional that their last names aren’t public record.” Hmm…could be something to this one. 2. Luke Skywalker is Kylo Ren The latest trailers show Kylo Ren pledging to his allegiance to Darth Vader’s battered helmet. Luke isn’t seen in any of the trailers and he Is Vader’s son, so…eh, we’re not buying it. 3. Boba Fett is Back! Die hard fans have noticed that the first trailer features a banner with a Mandalorian insignia. The franchise’s most badass bounty hunter just happens to hail from Mandalore. Of course, even if he shows up, he probably end up not doing jack squat again. 4. You Can Watch The First Two Minutes Online! Some fans believe that a completed cut of the first two minutes of the film has leaked online. The fact that there’s a typo in the iconic text crawl leads us to believe they’re mistaken. 5. Han Solo Dies! This one’s not actually all that ridiculous. We could easily imagine Han going out in some noble fashion. After all, we can’t imagine Harrison Ford signing on for endless sequels. It would be tragic, but less horrific than if… 6. Chewbacca Dies! The first trailer showed a grieving Rey in the same frame as a tuft of hair. Is it Chewie?! Could be! Of course, it also be come random Wookie. View Slideshow
ISIS Praises San Bernadino Mass Shooting By “Followers” The FBI is looking into the shooting in San Bernadino as an act of terrorism after a Saturday ISIS broadcast praising the massacre — which followed the recent revelation that Tashfeen Malik pledged allegiance to the Islamic State in a Facebook post just before she and husband Syed Farook killed 14 people and injured 20 others before dying hours later in a shootout with police. According to Washington Post reports : In an online radio broadcast Saturday by the Islamic State, the group said that two “supporters” had carried out the attacks in San Bernardino but stopped short of referring to the couple as members. The group praised the attacks but didn’t claim responsibility for it, according to the Associated Press. The FBI said Friday that it is investigating the San Bernardino, Calif., massacre as an act of terrorism, with officials revealing that the Pakistani woman who teamed with her husband in the slaughter went on Facebook afterward to pledge her allegiance to the leader of the Islamic State. Investigators are trying to determine if the husband-and-wife killers acted alone — inspired, but not directed, by foreign Islamist radicals — or were involved in a more elaborate plot. Hundreds of federal agents, in the United States and overseas, are looking for any contacts that the shooters — Chicago-born Syed Rizwan Farook, 29, and his wife, Tashfeen Malik, 27 — might have had with terrorist groups. “The investigation so far has developed indications of radicalization by the killers and of potential inspiration by foreign terrorist organizations,” FBI Director James B. Comey said Friday. But he said that, so far, there is no evidence that they were part of a larger group. By all accounts it seems that Tashfeen was the more radical of the pair. Family members describe her as being so conservative that she would not even allow her brother-in-law or father-in-law to see her face. Two criminal defense lawyers representing Farook’s mother, three siblings and brother-in-law held a news conference Friday and offered insight into the shooters, describing the husband as a loner and the wife as extremely conservative religiously, so much so that she would not be in the same room as her male in-laws. Malik’s brother-in-law had never seen her face. “She did maintain certain traditions in terms of prayer and fasting. She chose not to drive voluntarily. She was a very, very private person. She kept herself pretty well isolated,” family lawyer David Chesley said. “Syed didn’t want any fathers or brothers or brothers-in-law in the same room when she would also be there,” said another family lawyer, Mohammad Abuershaid. “The family was not that close to him,” he added. “He was kind of like the lone wolf.” Looks like the family is definitely trying to make it clear they had nothing to do with the attack. And obviously they couldn’t have been close because based on what authorities found at Farook’s home they should have known if they’d visited. There are a host of unknowns in this case, including whether the shooters had other targets in mind, a possibility suggested by the dozen pipe bombs and the thousands of rounds of ammunition in their apartment. The shooters also sought to cover their tracks by damaging some of their personal electronic devices. Authorities found two crushed cellphones near the apartment and were examining other evidence that the shooters “attempted to destroy their digital fingerprints,” said David Bowdich, assistant director in charge of the FBI’s Los Angeles office. What do you think? Was ISIS directly involved or is this just the result of how extremism can influence people. And if that’s the case, are we in even more danger than we already anticipated? Quentin Tarantino helped lead the “Say Their Names’ rally on Saturday in NYC, where hundreds gathered to chant the names of 250 people of color killed by police violence . During the rally, a part of Dr. Cornel West’s 3-day #RiseUpOctober anti-police brutality initiative, the director individually detailed the senseless police killings of Tamir Rice, Freddie Gray, Antonio Guzmán López, and Michael Brown. As he told reporters: “This is not being dealt with in anyway at all. That’s why we are out here. If it was being dealt with, then these murdering cops would be in jail or at least be facing charges.” Getty / MailOnline Continue reading →
