Ben Savage: Girl Meets World Will Be Special, Funny

As you’ve likely heard (and gotten really excited about if you watched TV from 1993-2000), Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel will star in a Boy Meets World spinoff . The new series, Girl Meets World , will air on the Disney Channel and be told from the perspective of Cory and Topanga Mattews’ teenage daughter, Riley. Ben (Cory) recently spoke about the new show for the first time. “We’re going to wait and see what happens,” he told Rolling Stone about more returning characters. “Obviously, I don’t want to give away too many details.” “But there’s definitely been discussions about some of everyone’s favorite characters popping up [on Girl Meets World ] and making appearances.” Rider Strong , who played Cory’s best friend Shawn, is reportedly not involved with the new show, at least on a series regular basis. Casting is still underway. Savage says it was a long process getting even to this point. “It was just a matter of making sure all of us were on the same page about what we were going to do in terms of hopefully making the show last another seven years,” he said. “There were different options… but it just seems a little poetic that we’re coming back 13 years later and it’s following our daughter’s character. I like that concept.” “It’s kind of passing it off to the next generation.” Ben’s statement on Girl Meets World echoes that of Danielle Fishel (Topanga), who said she would not have signed on if the spinoff weren’t strong on its own merit. “We want to do justice to the characters, and we want to make sure we respect people’s memories of the show,” the 32-year-old actor assures fans. “We’re doing everything we can to make sure that this is going to be something special and funny, and hopefully it’ll make new memories for a new generation.” Filming is set to begin in February. Pumped up for Girl Meets World?   Yes! I used to love that show! Yes, I bet Topanga is even hotter now! The hell is Boy Meets World?! View Poll »

Will J.J. Abrams Or Jon Favreau Direct ‘Star Wars: Episode VII?’

Now under the guiding force of Disney , Star Wars ‘ next director is becoming a source of intrigue. Last week one major rumored contender – Steven Spielberg – said he is a no-go and now two other front-running prospects have weighed in with their interest. The studio, which recently nabbed Star Wars creator George Lucas ‘ Lucas Films recently for $4.05 billion and tapped Arndt to lead the way on Star Wars: Episode VII , which is set for 2015. Spielberg, JJ Abrams and Brad Bird were reportedly sent extended treatments written for all three planned Star Wars installments. He is in talks to write Star Wars: Episode VII , which will go into production in time for its 2015 target release. But the initial batch of front-running possible directors seem to be whittling down on their own volition, though the talk-downs may always be more about containing expectations than actual intent. But on the surface, J.J. Abrams appears to be bowing out, while another contender, Jon Favreau , is being less resigned to the prospect of taking on the reboot. “I frankly feel that – I almost feel that, in a weird way, the opportunity for whomever it is to direct that movie, it comes with the burden of being that kind of iconic movie and series…,” said Abrams to HollywoodLife. “I am looking forward more then anyone to the next iterations of Star Wars, but I believe I will be going as a paying moviegoer!” Favreau, however, walked the fence, noting that he’s worked on the Skywalker Ranch with Lucas on Clone Wars and Iron Man to great success, adding to HollywoodLife: “I am just giddy, first and foremost as a fan, to see what happens with it. I think there is a lot of question marks of how they are going to do it, and who they are going to do it with, and what the story is going to be about; but to say that I am not excited about it is definitely an understatement. We’ll see.” Spielberg said last week that Star Wars isn’t his thing, telling Access Hollywood at the L.A. premiere of Lincoln , “No, no! It’s not my genre. It’s my best friend George’s genre.” Arndt actually was brought into the mix by Lucasfilm before Disney took over. Part of the sale included the “pretty extensive and detailed treatment for what would be the next three movies – the trilogy,” noted Disney’s Jay Rasulo, according to Deadline. Speculation has mounted that the franchise’s original stars, Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher will reprise their roles as Han Solo, Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia. In addition to his Oscar-winning screenplay for Little Miss Sunshine and nomination for Toy Story 3 , Arndt has written the screenplays for the upcoming Hunger Games: Catching Fire and a Pixar project dubbed “Untitled Pixar Movie That Takes You Inside the Mind” for director Pete Docter. Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez Split Memorial Video of the Day

It is the end of the fucking world… So in great tragedies…at least in terms of staged relationships between homosexual boy toys and the Disney girls who want to ride their coat tails….Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez broke up and it is official…. I know you probably heard rumors of this last week, because Selena Gomez was seen with another dude and Justin wrote “single” on twitter or some shit…but it wasn’t until yesterday that the mainstream media picked it up and everyone decided to talk about it like it fucking matters… That alone is everything that is wrong with the world today….so I decided to make a memorial video to mock this celebrity relationship obsessions…you are all a bunch of pawns buying into the bullshit trap getting brain washed instead of uprising me…. So let’s make a bigger deal about idiots who are a big deal all cuz you made them a big deal…when the big deals should be shit that is actually relevant, important…and that matter… not twink tabloid fodder of idiots who probably never banged….for obvious reasons like they were never in the same room together….they only hung out a dozen times for the paparazzi…cuz the whole thing is marketing bullshit. But then again…I am the one who made a tribute video documenting their fake love…reminding me that the real problem…is me…. I am ready for both of these pawns, especially the Ellen looking Usher Fucker one….to fall off like typical child stars – cuz that’s when things get semi interesting….that or the sex tape directed by Usher…

Wreck-It Ralph Gross: $49,038,712 Screens: 3,752 (PSA: $13,070) Week: 1 The Disney animation had a terrific bow, cashing in on great reviews and a solid marketing campaign. The feature also made $12 million internationally, making the title Disney’s top animated pic The $49 million plus domestic total compares to $40.1 million for Chicken Little in 2005. The opening compares to Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted , which brought in over $60 million when it opened in June. But Ralph helped bring up an overall box office which eclipsed the previous weekend. 2. Flight Gross: $24,900,566 Screens: 1,884 (PSA: $13,217) Week: 1 Flight cruised with strong results in its opening weekend, even edging out the weekend’s number one box office winner, Wreck-It Ralph in terms of per screen average. This is Washington’s fifth best debut. 3. The Man With the Iron Fists Gross: $7,910,980 Screens: 1,868 (PSA: $4,235) Week: 1 The gross is in line with what was expected, but it’s still a bit of a downer. It should reach a lucrative overseas market. 5.
