Katie Holmes and Suri Cruise: Uninjured in Garbage Truck Accident

Through stealth activity, which included the use of burner cell phones , Katie Holmes plotted her divorce from Tom Cruise in secret and came out unscathed in the court of public opinion. Now, similarly, the actress has left the scene of a car accident without any significant injuries. Multiple outlets confirm that Holmes and six-year old daughter Suri were hit by a garbage truck last night while driving in the star’s Mercedes. No one was hurt, but a police report has been filed. “Suri was crying in the car,” says a People Magazine insider, who adds that Holmes was not driving the vehicle. Strangely enough, the crash marked the second time in four days that Holmes and Suri have been involved in an accident. Kris Humphries Re-Signs with Brooklyn Nets

His personal life may be a ridiculous mess, but Kris Humphries just got his professional world in order: ESPN reports that the ex-husband of Kim Kardashian has signed a two-year, $24 million contract with the Brooklyn Nets. The 27-year-old power forward averaged career-highs of 13.8 points and 11.0 rebounds per game with that club last season. Does the rich new deal mean Humphries will finally relent in his divorce proceedings, signing his name on the dotted line and legally ending his relationship with Kardashian? It doesn’t seem likely. In the latest development surrounding that bizarre case, Myla Sinanaj has addressed Kim and told her to keep her out of the former couple’s beef. One thing is certain: Humphries will be crashing the boards in Brooklyn, and receiving many more boos on the road, throughout 2012-2013.

Katie Holmes Planned Her Divorce in Secret!

Was Tom Cruise totally blind-sided by his divorce from Katie Holmes? Looks like the actress may have planned the whole thing in secret! E! Online is reporting that Holmes used a secret disposable cell phone to contact her lawyers about the divorce plans. Not only that, but the actress apparently purchased the Manhattan apartment where she is now living with her daughter Suri before the divorce news broke. With their divorce settlement agreed upon very quickly, this is all looking to be very calculated on the part of Holmes. Holmes even spent part of every month in New York for the last two years, a requirement to obtain residency there! Did Tom know about the plans, and the two decided to keep it from the media together? Or did Katie hit him over the back of the head with it after everything was already in motion? What do you think happened?

Tom Cruise Divorce Negotiations: Suri the Key Factor

Suri Cruise likely holds the key to divorce settlement talks between Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, even if the six-year-old has no idea of this fact. Lawyers for both sides are trying to work out a settlement that would avoid a costly, ugly, protracted and public court dispute between them. Custody of young Suri could make or break that deal, as Tom insists any deal offers him “meaningful, significant contact with his daughter.” One source put it, “She is the primary concern in his life.” Katie filed for sole custody in June , reportedly prompted by fears that Tom’s Scientology beliefs would become a central component of her life. Tom’s people have disputed this, albeit without really elaborating. Regardless, Holmes’ camp reportedly has assured Tom he will be able to spend time with his daughter when he finishes his new movie shoot. Lawyers for both sides met for a full business day on Saturday, working on not just a temporary stopgap but a settlement for the divorce. Attorneys are negotiating custody, visitation, support and property settlement, and while the tone has been “calm,” things are still in flux. Andy Griffith, Beloved TV Star, Dead at 86

Andy Griffith, the beloved star of two legendary television programs, has passed away at his home in North Carolina. He was 86. UNC President Bill Friday, a close friend of the actor’s, broke the sad news to WITN News in that state. Griffith rose to fame on the The Andy Griffith Show and later anchored Mayberry R.F.D. and Matlock . He was also a Grammy Award-winning gospel singer and was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by George W. Bush in 2005. The actor is survived by his third wife, Cindi Knight, and his daughter Dixie Nan. Our thoughts go out to his family, friends and loved ones.

There’s a potential custody fight over Suri Cruise on the horizon, but when it comes to Tom Cruise’s older kids, the ties that bind seem to be tight ones. Isabella and Connor Cruise, his two adopted children with ex Nicole Kidman, have so far remained mum on the impending Tom Cruise-Katie Holmes divorce . But Connor seems to be weighing in, subtly, taking to Twitter to allude to the news: “#LaFamilia Always. Friends Come And Go, But Family Is Forever.” Connor Cruise , 17, is especially tight with his dad. These last few weeks, he was on hand as Tom received the Friar’s Club’s Entertainment Icon Award. The 33-year-old Holmes, who is reportedly seeking sole custody of Suri, 6, has been close to her stepson and stepdaughter since marrying Tom. Holmes has hunkered down in NYC following the split, amid speculation that his commitment to Scientology played a role in the relationship’s demise. Cruise, who’s been on location in Iceland filming the sci-fi flick Oblivion , has just hired Dennis Wasser to represent him in the divorce battle ahead. Katie Holmes Divorce Papers Say Marriage to Tom Cruise Over in 2011

Katie Holmes claims that her marriage to Tom Cruise was “irretrievably” broken at least six months ago … something that is probably news to Tom, who was reportedly “blindsided” when she filed the paperwork in New York last week. The Tom Cruise-Katie Holmes divorce is shaping up to be contentious, especially since he didn’t see it coming, the two were reportedly walking hand-in hand in Iceland, where he’s filming his new movie, just two weeks ago. It’s unclear why she considers things effectively over by late 2011. All accounts to date suggest that Holmes is attempting to free her daughter from the influence she fears Tom’s religion, Scientology, will have on her life. Clearly, they see things differently. Katie claims in her divorce documents that both she and Tom have been residents of New York for “at least 2 years.” The couple does own an apartment there that is deeded in her name, but Katie has been living in a separate place in NYC in recent weeks with Suri Cruise . Katie, 33, who filed in NYC, must establish legal residency in the Empire State in order for the court to have jurisdiction over the case, specifically custody. New York courts are more likely to grant sole custody to one parent over another if there is conflict, which no doubt played into her decision to file there. Tom, 49, who has shared a home with Katie in L.A. ever since they got married in 2006, will no doubt fight the residency claim and the custody claim. Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes They courted and were married amidst a media spectacle, but after five years of marriage, one of Hollywood’s most celebrated couples, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes , are calling it quits. [ PHOTOS: 5+ Years of TomKat in Pictures ] The two wed in an Italian castle back in November 2006 and who can forget those images of Cruise giving Holmes a lift on the back of his motorcycle, as well as the jump on the couch seen around the world on the Oprah Winfrey show? But sadly, the romance has faltered, according to People magazine. The news will undoubtedly unleash a barrage of the ever-present five year contract riffs, though the marriage did actually sustain a bit more time – about 5.7 years, in fact. “This is a personal and private matter for Katie and her family,” Holmes’s attorney Jonathan Wolfe said. “Katie’s primary concern remains, as it always has been, her daughter’s best interest.” Their daughter, Suri, is now six.
