Chris Brown, Bow Wow Rock Free Thanksgiving Concert In Atlanta

Stars perform at event which hooked up locals with a turkey giveaway and carnival. By Mawuse Ziegbe, with reporting by James “FLX” Smith Chris Brown Photo: MTV News With another Thanksgiving upon us, celebrities are in the giving spirit. On Tuesday night, Chris Brown and Bow Wow kicked off some pre-Turkey Day festivities with a free concert for their Atlanta-area fans. Decked out in a slate-gray suit and white kicks, Breezy rocked tracks like his Graffiti joint “I Can Transform Ya,” flanked by similarly dapper backup dancers as he turned out his signature athletic choreography. The “Deuces” singer said he was down to gift concertgoers with a high-octane performance just in time for the holidays. “It was fun, I had a great time,” Brown told MTV News. “I love giving back to the fans and everybody who got to come out who really don’t get a chance to come out and go to concerts and things like that.” Also at the event, which was organized by beatsmith Polow Da Don and featured a carnival and turkey giveaway, was Breezy’s homey and fellow hitmaker Bow Wow. The Cash Money MC said he didn’t need any convincing to rock the crowd alongside his “Shortie Like Mine” collaborator — especially if it meant bringing some holiday cheer to deserving fans. “It was only right that I came out, supported the homey,” Bow said. “He called me, wanted me to come out, perform the record, shut it down, and I told him it was nothing. And on top of that, it was for a positive cause.” Coming down the pike from Breezy is the follow-up to Graffiti, which features the single “Yeah 3X.” The singer updated fans about the project in September. “I’m putting out singles a lot right now, so everything’s coming together. But I definitely am gonna to say this and plug it quick: The name of my album is Fame, so make sure you check it out,” he said during a stop at an Austin, Texas, radio station. Nicki Minaj’s ‘Last Chance’ Gave Natasha Bedingfield ‘Goose Bumps’

British singer talks about her Pink Friday collabo with the Queens MC. By Mawuse Ziegbe Nicki Minaj Photo: John Parra/ WireImage Very few MCs are touching Nicki Minaj when it comes to stacking collabos in 2010. However, the pink-tressed raptress recently scored a team-up that was unexpected, even for her: a track with British songstress Natasha Bedingfield. The singer explained to Billboard.com that although she may be known Stateside as the crooner behind the delicate pop anthem “Unwritten,” she’s well-versed in the hip-hop game. (Incidentally, the pop song became the theme of MTV’s “The Hills,” a show that counted Minaj among its fans . “With Nicki, I come from London and we’ve got a heavy influence in hip-hop,” Bedingfield said. “She called me and was like, ‘I’d love for you to sing on this. I’m a huge fan,’ and I was instantly like, ‘I’ll do this.’ ” Bedingfield gushed that the lyrics Minaj penned made an instant impression on her. In another ironic twist of fate, the songbird laid down her “Last Chance” contribution in the lab of another Minaj collaborator, Eminem, while on the road in Detroit. Bedingfield added that she picked up on the Motor City luminary’s energy. “I heard the song she’d written and it gave me goose bumps. I was like, ‘I’ve got to be on that,’ ” she recalled. “I was in Detroit, doing some promotion, so I went into Eminem’s studio and it was amazing, really catching off Eminem’s vibe. He wasn’t there, but his studio is great.” Fans can check out Minaj and Bedingfield’s collaboration on the lyricist’s recently released Pink Friday album, while the songbird’s forthcoming album, Strip Me, will be available on December 7. Emma Stone Is The Actress We’re Most Thankful For In 2010

With winning turn in ‘Easy A,’ ‘Spider-Man’ casting and ‘SNL’ hosting gig, the 22-year-old has had quite a year. By Eric Ditzian Emma Stone Photo: Fotonoticias/Getty Images As MTV News’ Thankful Week draws to a close, we begin to cast our gaze away from the big screen and towards tables soon to be the scene of turkey-crazed feasts. But we have one last honor to bestow: the actress we’re most thankful for in 2010. The winner is none other than Emma Stone, a move that completes a nifty “Spider-Man” double win, as we also honored Andrew Garfield — who’s stepping into the role of Peter Parker — as the actor we’re most thankful for this year. Stone won the part of Gwen Stacy in October, capping a stellar year for the 22-year-old. From the top-notch teenage rom-com “Easy A” to her “Saturday Night Live” hosting gig to the opportunity to shoot flicks opposite the likes of Steve Carell (“Crazy, Stupid, Love”) and Justin Timberlake (“Friends With Benefits”), Stone was already having a great 2010. Then “Spider-Man” director Marc Webb came calling. Her life is never going to be the same — and she couldn’t be more excited. The always-energetic actress called up MTV News in the midst of “Spider-Man” preproduction to talk about what a surreal year it’s been and how she’s dealing with the pressures of taking on the iconic Marvel series. MTV : Thanks for calling up to chat. Emma Stone : Thank you for having me! MTV : Well, you’re going to be very excited in a second. Stone : What is it? What’s it going to be? You like how I’m excited at the mere mention that I’m going to be excited? MTV : Uh-oh, I really have to come through now. Look out your window — there’s a blimp with your face on it! Stone : Oh my god, it’s so beautiful, I’m looking right now! You wanna know what’s really insane about that? I actually pulled back the curtain and looked at the sky. MTV : I’m sorry to disappoint, but I can tell you that every year we honor various people we’re thankful for, and this year you’re the woman we’re most thankful for. Stone : Oh my god, shut up! Get out of here! I prepared a 10-minute speech, is that OK? MTV : I’m afraid we don’t have enough time. You know, the man we’re most thankful for this year is your “Spider-Man” co-star Andrew Garfield. Stone : Hey, I know that guy! We’ve met. He’s the worst! MTV : I won’t tell him you said that. It has been quite a year for you. “Easy A” gets a great reaction, you’re shooting movies with people like Justin Timberlake and Ryan Gosling, you host “Saturday Night Live,” and then you land “Spider-Man.” Does 2010 feel like a landmark year? Stone : It feels kind of scary saying this because that means it’s only downhill, but it’s been the best year of my life. Not just with how lucky I’ve been work-wise, but with my family and friends. I’m totally terrified for 2011. I have such a disaster mentality, it’s not even funny. MTV : Which raises the question, are you ready for something as big as “Spider-Man”? Can you ever be ready for something like that? Stone : The way I have to approach it, and I think Andrew would agree, is just like any other movie. You’re going to put the same amount of focus into this that you would with anything. It just happens to be an exponentially bigger budget. So there’s that. It’ll probably feel different when we start to do press, but we won’t have to deal with that for another year and a half. And there are harnesses I’m going to have to use in this one. That’s the only difference: just the harnesses. MTV : Seriously, though, it’s been quite a year for you with onscreen love interests. The women in the office are jealous — Penn Badgley, Timberlake, Gosling, Garfield. You’re a lucky woman … Stone : What can I say? You cannot compare them. They are so wonderful in their own ways. Again, it’s been an amazing year. MTV : Has there been one surreal point in particular that kind of encapsulates 2010 for you? Stone : Hosting “Saturday Night Live.” That’s always been my ultimate dream. That moment before you come out those doors when Don Pardo says your name and you’re standing there … I had never let myself imagine what that would feel like. That moment when you walk through those doors was probably the most surreal moment, not just of this year, but ever. MTV : So you guys are in rehearsals for “Spider-Man,” right? What is that process like at this point? Stone : Today I went and did hair tests, because I have blonde hair now since Gwen has blonde hair. My natural hair is blonde, so it’s kind of nice. I looked in the mirror and said, “Oh my god, it’s me again, it’s been so long!” We’re finalizing the visual stuff. And I think we’ll start actually rehearsing, because we start shooting in two weeks. Andrew and I went and learned about science yesterday. Gwen really likes science, so we learned about science. I was homeschooled, so I never went to chemistry class in a traditional setting like Gwen is into. That was really beneficial. MTV : There seemed to be so much competition for the role of Gwen Stacy. Do you ever think, “Why me?” What do you think won you the part? Stone : I ask myself that question every day. I have no f—ing idea. It’s the most amazing idea, I can’t even tell you. I don’t think I ever will figure out how it happened. It’s been mind-blowing. I know things will eventually change, so I’m just trying to avoid thinking about it and just enjoy it while it’s happening. Ugh, what am I even saying? Don’t write any of that down! Thanksgiving is a time for taking stock, expressing gratitude and, most importantly, overeating. We at MTV News have been gorging all year at movie theaters, so it’s about time we looked back and gave thanks to our favorite actors and filmmakers of 2010. Enjoy exclusive interviews with our winners all week long. Nicki Minaj Says ‘People Need To See’ Her ‘My Time Now’ Documentary

Doc premieres Sunday, November 28, at 10 p.m. ET/PT on MTV. By Jayson Rodriguez, with reporting by Tim Kash Nicki Minaj and Tim Kash Photo: MTV News Hip-hop fans have already seen quite a few sides of Nicki Minaj when it comes to her music, including Roman Zolanski, Barbie and a string of other alter egos. But in “My Time Now,” the documentary on Minaj set to premiere Sunday, November 28, at 10 p.m. ET/PT on MTV, viewers will meet Onika Miraj, the Trinidad-born girl who came Stateside with her parents in search of a better life. “They’re gonna meet Onika,” she told MTV News about the doc. “Everybody sees Nicki Minaj; they’re gonna meet Onika. They’re gonna hear my story, and it’s such an inspirational story, which I never really wanted to tell. ‘Cause everyone always feels like you don’t want people to know too much. But when I saw what [MTV and production company @radical.media] did, I thought, ‘People need to see this.’ It reminds you that everyone always feels like this is it, but there’s always a light at the end of the tunnel, and I feel like that’s what the doc says at the end.” In the documentary, cameras follow Nicki over three months as she travels back to her native Trinidad for the first time in seven years; records her debut album, Pink Friday ; and purchases a home in New York for her mother. “I am amazed at what I’ve seen in this film,” Minaj said in a statement. ” … This film is my heart & soul. The visual component to Pink Friday. My fans are the most incredible humans on this planet. Words could never translate my gratitude. Thank you for standing by me. It’s our time now.” Members of the hip-hop media have praised “My Time Now” for its candid portrayal of the star. “We often approach female artists with skepticism,” TheBVX.com editor Timmhotep Aku told MTV News. “There’s always been this debate about Nicki within the industry and the general public about how authentic her artistry is. And I think the moment when she’s in the booth, when she’s writing her rhymes, she’s going through her take, kind of speaks to her own authenticity. Nick is really a force to be reckoned with, because she’s not manufactured.” Don’t miss the documentary “Nicki Minaj: My Time Now,” premiering Sunday, November 28, at 10 p.m. ET/PT on MTV! Ambush Filmmaker O’Keefe Tried To ‘Punk,’ ‘Seduce’ CNN Reporter | TPMMuckraker

Editor's note: CNN takes an unprecedented look inside the young conservative activist movement in the documentary “Right On The Edge,” which airs Oct. 2 and 3 at 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. EST. http://www.cnn.com/2010/US/09/29/okeefe.cnn.prank/?hpt=T2 James O'Keefe, the young conservative activist who secretly recorded meetings with ACORN and was convicted in May of entering Sen. Mary Landrieu's office under false pretenses, allegedly tried to “punk” CNN reporter Abbie Boudreau by luring her on to a boat and seducing her. CNN reports on the scheme today, a few days before airing a documentary on O'Keefe and other young conservatives called “Right on the Edge.” The incident happened in August, when Boudreau was working on the documentary. According to CNN, Boudreau was trying to get O'Keefe to let her and a camera crew tape a video shoot O'Keefe and some of his friends were doing. He told her he wanted to meet her alone, in person, beforehand. When she arrived at his house in Maryland, she was approached by Izzy Santa, the executive director of Project Veritas, O'Keefe's investigative journalism project. Santa told Boudreau that O'Keefe actually wanted to meet with the reporter on his boat, which he had set up into a “pleasure palace,” where he would try to seduce her in front of hidden cameras. Boudreau left. CNN then obtained emails and a 13-page document outlining the plan. The plan, which Santa confirmed was real, had a list of “props,” including a “condom jar,” “dildos,” sexy music (like Alicia Keys, as Marvin Gaye was dubbed “too cliche”) and a camera on a tripod, which the filmmakers dubbed “an obvious sex tape machine.” There's also a script O'Keefe was supposed to read on camera before meeting with Boudreau. “I've decided to have a little fun,” reads the script. “Instead of giving her a serious interview, I'm going to punk CNN. Abbie has been trying to seduce me to use me, in order to spin a lie about me. So, I'm going to seduce her, on camera, to use her for a video. This bubble-headed-bleach-blonde who comes on at five will get a taste of her own medicine, she'll get seduced on camera and you'll get to see the awkwardness and the aftermath.” The document also predicts potential fallout from the plan. “If they [CNN] go on the attack, you should point out the hypocrisy in CNN using the inherent sexuality of these women to sell viewers and for ratings, passing up more esteemed and respectable journalists who aren't bubble-headed bleach blondes and keep the focus on CNN.” O'Keefe denied to CNN that he would have gone through with the plan, saying, “That is not my work product. When it was sent to me, I immediately found certain elements highly objectionable and inappropriate, and did not consider them for one minute following it.” The document was apparently written by Ben Wetmore, another activist who hired O'Keefe a few years ago and offered his place as a crash pad for O'Keefe and three others when they illegally entered Landrieu's office dressed as phone repairmen. Boudreau wrote about the episode on her CNN blog. “Apparently, I represent all of the things this group hates about the mainstream media,” she wrote. “They feel because of the way I look that I do not matter, and that my reporting is a joke. They don't know anything about my work ethic – my history – my dedication and commitment – and my love for reporting. They just saw my blonde hair. And the ironic thing is that I'm really a brunette.” added by: toyotabedzrock

‘Catfish’ Trio Discuss Controversial Documentary’s Aftermath

‘We just wanted to start a conversation with this film,’ filmmaker Henry Joost tells MTV News. By Kara Warner Nev Schulman Photo: MTV News Audiences are still talking about “Catfish,” the 2010 Sundance darling and one of the year’s most heavily hyped documentaries. Now that the film has opened in select theaters across the country, more and more people are joining in on the “Is it real?” debate , as well as looking into the nuts and bolts of how the film came to be. In brief, the documentary revolves around NYC-based photographer Nev Schulman and the series of curious events that occur when he begins an online friendship with a precocious 8-year-old artist from a small town in Michigan and a romantic relationship with her older sister. When MTV News caught up with filmmakers Ariel Schulman and Henry Joost, along with Nev, we asked them — without spoiling anything — how the film’s supporting characters are doing back in Michigan. “Things in Michigan are good,” Joost said. “We still have friends there, and they are becoming involved in the marketing of the film in a cool way, designing posters. We’re pretty excited about that.” Joost also said those friends were part of a small art show tied to the film’s New York premiere. Regarding the strong reactions both audiences and critics have had to the film, Joost said there is a common theme. “I’d say maybe not the most common reaction, but a very common reaction is ‘Wow. Now let me tell you what happened to me; let me tell you what happened to my friend or my cousin or my mom,’ ” he said. “It’s incredible how many stories there are like this out there, and I think the film is kind of an open door to tell those stories now, that are sometimes embarrassing but often lead to good things.” Joost added that their goal in making the film was to just get people talking. “We just wanted to start a conversation with this film and just continue the conversation we’ve been having in the editing room for two years,” he said. What do you think of the buzz surrounding “Catfish”? Did the film make you rethink your approach to social networking or online relationships at all? Let us know in the comments!
