If anything, her pooch is a tad too enthusiastic about eating well, especially when it comes to carrots. We’re not exaggerating. This hunting dog, who recently went out into the woods with his owner Rick, came across a drowning baby bird in the middle of the lake… so Jack jumped in, snatched up the young animal in his mouth and swam him ashore to safety. And, thankfully for us, Rick captured the amazing rescue on camera: Dog Saves Bird from Drowning “I hunt with my dog, but it was really cool to see that he knew the difference between a bird in distress and a bird that he is hunting,” Rick wrote on the video’s YouTube page. Following the rescue, Rick says he was able to place the baby bird back in its nest with its siblings. He then watched the mother fly back to take care of them. Three days later, all the birds remain in the nest, thriving. Pretty awesome, huh? Sometimes people rescue dogs and sometimes dogs rescue other animals. Ma’am … Woman Goes On 30 Day Dog Food Diet A Washington state pet store owner is making national headlines after announcing that she’s going on a strict pet food only diet for 30 days. SMH… KNDO reports: A woman in Richland is em”bark”ing on a new mission. This month she’s eating with her pets, and chowing down on nothing but pet food. “Of course now when I share with the dogs, it’s not like i’m giving them table scraps,” Dorothy Hunter says. That’s one way she can look at her menu for the next month. She owns Paws Natural Pet Emporium, where her endeavor started while stocking shelves. “I didn’t have time to go get a snack,” she said, “so I grabbed a bag of treats off the counter, and I was like, wow, you know, these read better than normal people treats. So I started eating the treats and I was like, you know, I could do this for 30 days.” Now, she’s a week in, eating nothing but cat and dog food, like flakes of salmon, and freeze dried chicken. “I’ve also been doing our oven baked blueberry treats, as well as freeze dried green beans, carrots,” she says, “I’m even doing some canned cat food, one is a succulent chicken, and it actually tastes really good. So I’m really happy with that one. I don’t do raw bones or meat products like that, or the frozen because i’m just not into raw.” Even her employees have joined in, together they’re trying kibble. Dorothy says it’s not bad, but it’s better with a little milk. But this experiment isn’t about taste, Dorothy has a bigger message. “Learn about what you’re eating and what you’re feeding your pets. I think if we can get the awareness out of reading the ingredients, and really understanding what is in the pet food, that that will eventually carry over. If you’re feeding your pet healthy, maybe you’ll start reading the ingredients of your own foods, and maybe you can start eating healthy too.” Here’s to hoping Dorothy doesn’t have a husband with that doggie breath…
