Steve Harvey’s Ratings Tank Following Public Trump Support

The domino effect continues to befall black celebrities who publicly supported Donald Trump, and Steve Harvey is the latest to feel the heat. It’s being reported that ratings for Harvey’s new L.A.-based daytime talk show are tanking fast, thanks to his visit to Trump Tower earlier this year. Source: NBC / NBC Steve Harvey has been on the receiving end of bad press practically all year, first there was the heavily criticized and ill-advised meeting with Trump, then the public memo he sent staff members instructing that they are not allowed to look him in the face and his totally insensitive comments about Flint’s drinking water. Now, The Root is reporting that the ratings for his talk show are severely suffering as a result. Via The Root: [First the] ratings for the Harvey-hosted ‘ Family Feud’ dropped, then half the audience for his show ‘ Little Big Shots’ disappeared into thin air. [His previous show,] NBC’s ‘ Steve Harvey Show’ consistently had a 2.2 in the ratings. [However] his new show,  ‘ Steve , ’ had a 1.8 share, but after Harvey’s Trump visit his ratings fell to a 1.2. He also regularly loses [viewers] to Wendy Williams and is barely keeping up with Rachael Ray and Jerry Springer. Not only are the ratings tanking for virtually every project on which he’s working, but the costs of producing the shows have increased because of his move to Los Angeles and his payment demands. Many have speculated that at least one of the entities may cancel his contract, which is feasible because—for the first time in his career—he doesn’t own any of his content. Apparently Harvey is now on the race to repair his image, reportedly hiring an image consultant and a top PR firm to clean things up. He recently stated that “meeting with Donald Trump was the worst mistake of my life. I should have never gone up there.” Only time will tell if fans will welcome Harvey back with open arms, however based on the recent repercussions both Tina Campbell and Chrisette Michele have faced for supporting Trump, things don’t look good.   Check out today’s Top Stories here: Rep. Kathy Griffin Goes After Andy Cohen, Harvey Levin and More in INSANE Rant!

Kathy Griffin has some things to say. And, as you’ll see, that’s actually a massive, massive understatement. Back in May, as you’ll surely remember, Kathy did a photo shoot in which she held the decapitated head of Donald Trump — a Halloween mask covered in ketchup. It caused quite a stir: she was fired from multiple gigs, and she was even the subject of a federal investigation. Shortly after sharing the photo, she apologized , explaining that sometimes with comedy, lines can be crossed, and this was one of those times. But in the months since, she’s retracted her apology because “The whole thing got so blown out of proportion.” She said that the photo didn’t only cost her jobs, but friends began turning against her, she and her family started getting death threats. And now, five months later, she’s still dealing with the backlash. Earlier this week, it was announced that Andy Cohen would be replacing Kathy on CNN’s New Year’s Eve special, and when Andy was asked about it by TMZ, he replied with “Who? I don’t know her.” Meaning that he didn’t know Kathy — you know that classic Mariah Carey move. Except that Andy and Kathy definitely know each other, since she had a show on Bravo for years. She addressed that in a pointed tweet. “Even when it’s on tape, there are doubters?” she wrote. “He is NOT kidding w paps. Was my boss for 10 years. Treated me like a dog. Deeply misogynistic.” She was so upset by Andy’s words that she did a 17 minute video in which she went after him, TMZ boss Harvey Levin, and all the people she’s ever interacted with in her career that did her dirty. She kicks the video off by explaining that the fallout from the Trump photo is still going on , and it’s actually gotten worse. To prove that, she shares a voicemail she’d gotten from Harvey — he asked her to call him back for a chat and left his phone number, which she doesn’t disguise at all in the video. The reason for releasing his phone number, she says, is because after the Trump photo was released, she was doxxed mercilessly — and she feels that since Harvey is “in bed with everybody from Hollywood to Donald Trump,” he deserves similar treatment. From there, she jumps on to Andy Cohen, who she says was a “miserable boss” during her years at Bravo. She mocks him a bit for being an executive who then gave himself his own talk show — “seems to get picked up every season,” she joked. After that, Kathy jumps back to Harvey for a moment — she seems a little scatterbrained throughout the video, honestly, but we can’t really blame her. She claims that Tyler Shields, the photographer who took the photo, told her that two different people from TMZ told him that Harvey speaks with Trump multiple times a week. “Is that OK with you guys?” she asks. “The president talking to a gossip blogger?” Back to Andy, Kathy alleges that the two times she appeared on Watch What Happens Live, he offered her cocaine before filming began. So there’s that. About TMZ, she says that the website itself is extremely misogynistic, and that ageism is a big problem, too. “Harvey Levin, have you ever done anything honorable, ever?” she asks. “What do you do besides tear women down and make a bunch of money?” She actually refers to him as “the gay male version of Kellyanne Conway.” All throughout the video, she names people — not famous people, just people she’s worked with in the industry — who she feels let her down in some way. After all this, at the end of the video, she explains that she recorded it in the first place because she’s currently on a world tour, and she’s leaving Australia soon for Singapore. She’s been advised that she’s on multiple international lists, and that she’s been detained at every airport she’s been to in recent months. “So when I go to Singapore, if I just don’t return, I just want you guys to know, that’s why. Because I took a picture of a mask with ketchup on it.” Thoughts?

Back in August, Reynolds had everyone on Twitter and Instagram laughing out loud with the birthday tribute he posted to his wife. He posted a picture of the both of them together along with a loving “Happy Birthday” message…sounds endearing, doesn’t it? But of course Ryan is a known jokester, especially with his girl, so his birthday picture was just a little bit different. Reaching a whopping 1.4 million likes, Ryan’s “Happy Birthday to my amazing wife” was slightly overshadowed by him almost completely cropping her out. Ryan’s birthday was on Monday, and Blake finally got her chance to retaliate against the notorious birthday post, but hers might be even better. Rich Polk Getty Images for BET Jemele Hill Isn’t Surprised That ESPN Suspended Her   ESPN host  Jemele Hill stirred controversy after tweeting what everyone already knows about Donald Trump–that he is a white supremacist unfit to serve in the White House. ESPN gave Hill a 2-week paid suspension and received a lot of support standing with her, inspiring people calling and tweeting the network to let ESPN know we #StandWith Jemele. This weekend,  TMZ  caught up with Ms. Hill, and she told the publication that she most definitely “deserved” her two-week suspension from the network for violating social media policy. But not so fast, Hill also said she’ll “never take back what I said.” She’s still a real one, after all.  Jemele spoke with TMZ at the Los Angeles International Airport, “I deserved a suspension. I violated policy…going forward we’ll be in a good, healthy place.” She also added: “I would tell people, absolutely, after my Donald Trump tweets, I deserved that suspension. I deserved it. Like, absolutely. I violated the policy.” Donald Trump is a white supremacist who has largely surrounded himself w/ other white supremacists. — Jemele Hill (@jemelehill) September 11, 2017 Hill also said she’d only apologize for putting “ESPN in a bad spot,” but you won’t catch her saying sorry for what she said, because she’s still a firm believer in those sentiments. Jemele also expressed the gratitude for all of her supporters during this time and says that her time off was used for reflection. She is returning back to work on Monday.

An emotional Jeannie addressed speculation around her relationship during a segment on the show where her co-hosts revealed what yes or no question they would ask God. Jeannie opened up about the crossroad she faced when she realized her husband wanted to have children despite her not ever feeling that way. “You know how much I love Freddy, my husband. He’s my life. And before we got married, I was very clear about the fact that I probably would not have kids, just because I’ve never felt that. And now, getting older, he definitely seems like he wants kids, and he actually came out and said that he wants children,” she explained. Clueless Trump Says Blacks ‘Want’ And ‘Need’ Increased Police Presence

  C hicago is trying to correct a longstanding pattern of horrible police abuses—uncovered in a Justice Department probe —in the city’s Black neighborhoods, yet President Donald Trump believes that African Americans desire unrestrained policing in their communities. The Washington Post reports that Trump said that minorities “want” and “need” more police protection than other Americans, blaming Democrats for the high murder rate in Chicago. “Minorities want police protection more than anybody. They need it more than anybody. What’s going on is crazy. And you look at some of these inner cities where it’s just out of control,” Trump stated to Fox News anchor Sean Hannity . The president lamented that “political correctness” prevents police officers from responding effectively to rampant crime—even though the fact is that violent crime has decrease over the past 25 years, according to the Pew Research Center . Blacks also received disproportionately longer prison sentences for minor drug offenses. The rapper was seriously excited about being at the event when we caught up with him on the red carpet: “Any opportunity to perform is special for any artist. You gotta be grateful for any opportunity to get your face out there so I’m just blessed to be here,” he says. Way to stay humble, Dra. Dra also gave some details on what we can expect from his upcoming music. He didn’t hold any punches on the current state of hip hop and how he wants to make a change: “My new project is called No Junk Food , and basically for my age group, I’m  20, so you know, a lot of people in my age group, they not doing hip hop. They  not doing bars for bars, they not doing metaphors, flows and things like that. I’m taking they style, they little mumble rap joint and putting hip hop to it.
