After the Comey hearing, Republicans stood up for Donald Trump by emphasizing his naïveté. Race and gender are big reasons why that works.

Miley Cyrus Gets "Inspired," Pays Tribute in Manchester

Miley Cyrus was one of several musicians to take to the stage on Sunday night and bring a tear to the eyes of over 60,000 people in Manchester. Along with Justin Bieber, Chris Martin, Liam Gallagher, organizer Ariana Grande and many others, Cyrus performed at a concert whose proceeds went to the Red Cross’ We Love Manchester emergency fund. This fund was set up in the wake of an attack on May 22 that killed nearly two dozen people who attended a Grande concert in Manchester Arena. At one point during this special show, Cyrus sang a duet of “Don't Dream It's Over” with Ariana, while at another point, she went solo with a rendition of her new single, “Inspired.” It was an appropriately moving song for the occasion. Upon dedicating this performance to everyone in the crowd (and around the world, really), Cyrus added: “I’d like to wrap my arms around each and every one of you and tell you thank you from the bottom of our hearts “I am so honored to be at this incredible event surrounded by all you amazing people.” She continued: “For me, the most important responsibility we have on this entire planet is to take care of one another, and look what we’re doing today and how amazing that is.” It really is true. The concert appears to have been a mammoth success, both from a fundraising perspective (about $2.6 million raised) and from the perspective of lifting up a city in need. Elsewhere during the show, Bieber delivered a heartfelt speech and Katy Perry performed an inspiring take on her track “Part of Me.” You can check out a number of memorable One Love Manchester moments here… … and relive Miley's emotional dedication below. Enjoy!

Mom Reveals Reality of Instagram Perfection with Viral Image

Everyone likes to look their best for a photo opportunity, right? Nobody wants a picture taken in which they are not comfortable with so it makes sense that as a society we tend to use filters and things to enhance our look in the image.  A U.K. based mother named Tova Leigh wanted the world to know that looking great did not have to mean returning to the 17th century by saying that corsets are a thing of the past and should remain that way.  The picture and post about body image went viral, garnering a lot of support across the internet.  Read the full, empowering statement for yourself: I keep seeing ads for corsets everywhere. You know, the ones that suck your belly in and make your waist look tiny while also giving you constipation. Well, let me tell you something: Last time I wore any type of corset was on my wedding day, exactly 8 years ago. I remember hiding behind a massive bush in the garden, and my mom loosening the damn thing cos I could barely breathe. Sure, after that my boobs didn’t look as fab as they did when the day started, but I was actually able to eat the food I had paid for and do another amazing thing – it’s called sitting down. So unless It is officially the 17th century again, I’d like to ask whoever came up with the idea that women in 2017 need to look like Jessica Rabbit, to kindly shove their corsets up their ass and let me enjoy my mom tum in peace. ♡♡♡ #BodyImage #moms #mums #motherhood #MomLife #parenting #parents #reallife #family #love #bodyshaming #fuckbodygoals The picture Tova had taken of herself certainly showed off her good looks, but the mother of three felt guilty about the number of filters she used to show herself in the best light and decided to show off what actually goes into making these selfies.  She did so with a behind the scenes picture of how the original picture was taken. This picture was accompanied by another empowering statement.  Last week I shared the “perfect” selfie on Instagram (see the small image on the bottom left). It got a whole lot of “likes”, friends told me I was sexy and I even made it my new profile picture on Facebook. Today I am sharing the ‘behind the scenes’ of that image. How I actually looked when it was taken, without 20 attempts to get it right, without cropping out the bits I don’t like and without adding the ‘make me look pretty’ filter. You see, over in the weekend I read an article about how more and more people are feeling depressed and insecure because of all the images of “perfect” looking people on social media, which they perceive to be real. Well let me tell you something: THIS IS REAL. In all my mum-tum, cellulitis, granny pants and absolutely zero thigh gap glory! Not the perfect sexy body by some dictated standard, but imperfectly fabulous because it is real and it is mine. So next time you see a “perfect” image on IG or FB that makes you feel bad, remember this: Social media is full of shit. You are beautiful just the way you are. And there is nothing sexier than being real. Tova ♡♡♡ #KeepingItReal #women #fuckbodygoals #BodyImage Pictures on social media always tend to look very professional, and part of the reason for that is the multitude of filters that are readily available to improve the look of the subject.  Tova found this information out in an article which also said that these images could make people feel depressed as they think of their imperfections.  Tova opened up to Huffington Post about what made her take the pictures and why she felt it was important.  “They’re obviously still not on social media, and I sometimes worry about when they will be,” she explained. “As somebody who uses social media quite a bit for my work, I am well aware of how misleading it can be, and at the age of 41 I take things with a pinch of salt as I know that what I see is not always reality. “ “In reality, I was standing in my underwear in my bathroom facing a window, so I had really good light,” she recalled. “I had a mirror in front of me, and I must’ve tried at least 20 times before I got the perfect shot.” Tova then revealed that she felt like she was a fraud after all the likes on the original image.  “It did not represent what that moment really looks like, so I decided to share the truth.” Despite her apprehension at sharing an image, she is happy she did because of the outcry of support she has received from people around the world.  “We live in a world and a society that puts a lot of pressure on women, young girls teenagers, etc. to look a certain way,” she told HuffPost. “We tend to share the good moments and the attractive bits about our lives which I guess is understandable, but at the same time is very misleading.” She added, “If you look at social media you will see that 99 percent of images look perfect. But how does that even make sense? Life is not perfect. We are not perfect. And that was the point I was trying to get across: We’re not perfect but that is totally OK. Being real is far more powerful than being perfect.”   What do you think about all of this? Sound off below! View Slideshow: 10 Most-Liked Instagram Photos of 2016

Kim Kardashian to Caitlyn Jenner: I’m Coming for You!

Caitlyn Jenner’s had her share of tensions with the rest of the Kardashian clan. A little of that was just the normal emotions in life that happens when a couple splits and a transgender parent transitions. Unfortunately, this is more than that. Caitlyn’s controversial memoir is burning some bridges. Caitlyn’s memoir, The Secrets of My Life , contains some passages that are very critical of the Kardashians in general. And of Kris Jenner, Caitlyn’s ex-wife, in particular. We’ve already seen Kendall Jenner react to Caitlyn’s book . She was not happy and agreed with Kris that Caitlyn’s words weren’t true. We’ve also already seen Kim Kardashian angry at Caitlyn for dissing her mother and their entire family. But this is different. Kim gets very defensive of her entire family, but especially of Kris. On Sunday’s Keeping Up With The Kardashians , Kim didn’t mince words. “Mom’s obviously upset about it,” Kim says to Caitlyn. “So … if those are your feelings those are your feelings, but mom feels a certain way about you and she has the right.” She tells Caitlyn on no uncertain terms that there will be consequences if Kim feels that she’s done a smear job on her mother. “I’m going to read it and tell you honestly … Talk bad about my mom, I come for you.” Caitlyn tries to defend herself, saying that she had a story to tell and that was it. But Kim isn’t having it. “If you turn on my mom and you continue to bash us, I can’t — even for the sake of my sisters — spend time with someone who doesn’t care about my mother.” Kim really sounds like she’s serious about cutting ties. The Kardashians like to say that family loyalty is a quintessentially Kardashian quality, and maybe that’s so, but Kim’s “Like, enough already,” sounds pretty consummately Kardashian to us. We think that the Kardashians, like most people, were expecting Caitlyn’s memoir to be, you know, way more about being a woman who was designated as a male at birth, who was perceived as a man and then became a famous athlete and reality star. Surely being forced to live a lie by a wildly bigoted society is enough of a story to fill any book, right? A few anecdotes about weird feelings or dysphoria — though not all trans people experience dysphoria — experienced during her marriages would have sufficed, right? Not, like, a biting criticism of her family. The Kardashians were, for the most part, very supportive of Caitlyn as she transitioned. We’d accept nothing less than total support, of course, but you’d think that Caitlyn would be a little less vicious towards them. Caitlyn’s no stranger to controversy. A lifelong conservative, Caitlyn didn’t initially seem supportive of marriage equality — an odd stance for a world-famous member of the LGBT community. And then there were her political comments during the 2016 election campaigns. Mere months after people began to honor her for being a visible, vocal representation of trans folks, for provoking conversations and promoting awareness, the 2016 campaigns kicked into gear. Honestly, Caitlyn’s timing in coming out was really unfortunate in ways that she couldn’t quite foresee. It’s not super uncommong for LGBT folks from uber-conservative backgrounds to struggle with trying to fit in as much as possible with their family’s values. There’s something powerful about feeling accepted by the people who’d otherwise reject you. Maybe, if she’d come out in, like, 2013, she could have worked through all of that and not had such nice things to say about Ted Cruz and Donald Trump in 2016. That alienated a lot of her supporters. We do have to say, though, that it is strangely nice to see people blast Caitlyn for being shady without misgendering her. Comments sections — which we all know to avoid but too often cannot resist browsing — on articles about her too often include people misgendering her, or using her deadname. That’s never acceptable. Misgendering and other forms of transphobic language can never just be used against one person — they’re weapons against the trans community as a whole. Just like slurs and other forms of bigotry. The Kardashians, the people who have the most reason to be personally distressed by her, can hold conversations about her and outright threaten her without misgendering her. Maybe, one day, commenters will rise to the level of decency set by the Kardashians. Can we possibly set that bar any lower? Maybe this was all a misjudged attempt at boosting book sales. A tell-all book on the Kardashians sounds like it would normally do pretty well. It’s just not what people expected. But, even with all of the publicity that the book’s getting as they keep mentioning it on Keeping Up With The Kardashians , this doesn’t sound worth the cost. If any of this conflict is real, and it sounds like it, Caitlyn could be permanently alienating the entire family. Even if they work through it, some things might never be the same. Kathy Griffin: Donald Trump is Ruining My Life!

A few days ago, as you've surely heard by now, Kathy Griffin released some images from a photo shoot she did with Tyler Shields. In the most scandalous photos, Kathy was holding a model of what looked like Donald Trump's bloody decapitated head . It did not go over well. In one fell swoop, she managed to piss off the entire internet — and she even deeply disturbed Trump and his family. She was fired from a few gigs , dragged all to hell in the media, both traditional and social … it was bad. And though she released a video apologizing for the photo shortly after it was published, today she did a press conference addressing the ongoing controversy. In the conference, which Kathy did alongside her lawyer, she was very emotional, and at one point, she even broke down. “I don't think I will have a career after this,” she said. “I think he … I'm going to be honest, he broke me. He broke me, and then I was like, 'No, this isn't right.'” She said that she was sincere in her original apology, but that she feels that Trump and his team are trying to turn the controversy into a distraction . About her CNN firing, she said it was “sad” and “hurtful.” “There's a bunch of old white guys trying to silence me, and I'm just hear to say that's wrong,” she continued. “You don't have to like me, but you shouldn't silence a comic.” She also pointed out how strange it is that the President of the United States is going after, in her words, “D-list comedian Kathy Griffin.” As she said in her apology, she did cross a line with the photo, but she still feels like the backlash is extreme. After all, she's hardly the first famous person to criticize Trump in such a brutal way , but she's the first to get destroyed over it. Check out the press conference in the video below:

Bella Thorne Mauls Gregg Sulkin, Sticks it to Scott Disick in Racy New Pic

It’s a sad day when a grown man’s antics are so bad that a teen girl feels the need to put some visible distance between them. So, you know how absolutely everyone is fed up with Scott Disick’s hard-to-miss antics with 19-year-old girls? It looks like we can count Bella Thorne in with the rest of us. She’s apparently spent the last two days hanging out with ex Gregg Sulkin, and has not been shy about sharing that on Instagram. Of course, Bella’s never been a shy kinda girl. She’s straightforward about showing off her body, and she’s never minced words about being bisexual . And they both look great in that photo, because of course they do. Scott Disick’s apparent attempt to get back at Kourtney Kardashian has been to be seen very publicly with attractive young women. Not only is that backfiring, but it’s led to some buyer’s remorse from people like Bella Thorne who got caught in the middle. On the surface, they were a perfect fit, since anyone on Scott’s arm is going to get noticed and Bella Thorne is known for grabbing people’s attention. Usually just with photos of herself. Some would say that she’s desperate, others say that she just likes flaunting her body. Honestly, can we blame her? Now, lots of people spend time with their exes. They might even be cuddly. Not everyone posts those photos to Instagram. Maybe they’re just rekindling their old relationship, but it would also be a very effective way for Bella to send a message.to Scott and also to the world that she’s put that Cannes drama behind her. We hope that this isn’t a case of her using Gregg to get back at Scott for using her . That would be enough like a soap opera to make your head spin. Bella has a few exes, and a lot of her younger fans would be delighted to see her get back with Gregg Sulkin. The two had dated for a good long while and only broke up late last summer. Their relationship wasn’t controversial like, say, her rumored romance with YouTuber and accused rapist Sam Pepper. Because yikes . That situation was short-lived for a reason. But until someone makes a real announcement, Bella and Gregg are just friends. Friends who used to date and who have been very visibly inseparable for the last couple of days. Cuddly friends. But friends nonetheless. Overall, it looks like Bella is still young, but making better choices for herself these days. That’s kind of what being 19 is all about. Kathy Griffin "Beheads" Donald Trump, Pisses Off Internet

Warning: There are three people involved in this story, and perpetually-parched celebrity photographer Tyler Shields might be the least obnoxious one. You may remember Shields from the time when he took lots photos of Lindsay Lohan seductively nibbling her fingers , back when that was a thing some people wanted to see. Chronicling the life of LiLo never helped Shields develop into a slightly less creepy Terry Richardson like it was supposed to, so these days he's changing strategies. Interestingly, he remains fixated on Cheeto-colored throwback celebs who wore out their welcomes well over a decade ago. And now, Shields has figured out a way to squeeze two carrot-hued relics into one desperate publicity stunt. Yes, if you've spent much time on social media today, then you probably caught wind of the controversy involving Kathy Griffin and a bloody, beheaded Trump dummy. If you haven 't been on Twitter in the past couple hours, we recommend you keep your distance, as the takes are more red hot than Jared Kushner's face when someone uses the phrase “back channel” in his presence. They're hotter than the incubation room where Steve Bannon stores the leathery eggs of his future progeny. They might even be hotter than the young, Lahren-esque communications director who will emerge out of nowhere once Kellyanne and Spicy go missing sometime next week. People are pissed, is what we're saying. And of course, no one is more pissed than noted famous name-haver and grown up kid from The Omen , Donald Trump, Jr. “Disgusting but not surprising. This is the left today. They consider this acceptable,” an irate DJTJ told the press today. Griffin is sticking to her guns, claiming that she does not condone violence, and is merely sticking it to the “Mocker-in-Chief” in the crass fashion he seems to prefer. “There was blood coming out of his eyes, blood coming out of his … wherever,” Griffin said, referencing last year's infamous Trump-Megyn Kelly feud . Check out some footage from the photo shoot to decide for yourself if Griffin was out of line, or just giving Donnie a taste of his own medicine:

Kathy Griffin on Offensive Donald Trump Photo: My Major Bad! PLEASE Forgive Me!

Kathy Griffin is sorry. Like, really, really, REALLY ridiculously sorry. The comedian came under fire from both sides of the aisle on Tuesday after she posted for a Tyler Shields photo shoot in which she held the bloody, severed head of President Donald Trump. In a horrible attempt at humor, Griffin wrote “there was blood coming out of his eyes, blood coming out of his…wherever,” as a caption, hearkening back to when Trump made the same comment last year about Megyn Kelly . It was a sexist, inappropriate thing for Trump to utter at the time. And, in the context below, it was a wildly inappropriate and borderline illegal thing for Griffin to say now. Watch the controversial video and share your opinion on it in the Comments section at the bottom of this post: Kathy Griffin “Beheads” Donald Trump, Pisses Off Internet Shortly after the fake beheading went viral, Griffin started to backtrack on the meaning behind it. “OBVIOUSLY, I do not condone ANY violence by my fans or others to anyone, ever! I’m merely mocking the Mocker in Chief,” she Tweeted. Shields, the photographer behind the shoot, was more defiant in his defense of the pairing’s so-called “art” work. “Can you go to jail for making an artistic statement??? Asking for a friend… @kathygriffin,” he wrote. No, not really. But you can go to jail for threatening the life of a sitting President. It’s unlikely that the Secret Service will actually investigate Griffin and/or that any charges will get brought against Griffin. But she has heard it from Republicans and Democrats alike in the wake of this distasteful stunt. “Disgusting but not surprising. This is the left today,” wrote Donald Trump Jr., turning this into a partisan issue and adding: “They consider this acceptable. Imagine a conservative did this to Obama as POTUS?” Of course, this has proven to be wholly untrue. No one on the Left considers this acceptable. Griffin is almost receiving more flak from Liberals than from Conservatives because this distorts their rhetoric against Trump. There is plenty (and we mean PLENTY ) one can say as a critique of Donald Trump without resorting to such acts of fake violence. “It wasn’t right when peoplel hung lynched Obama effigies, just as what Kathy Griffin did isn’t right now,” wrote Debra Messing, Chelsea Clinton also disproved Trump Jr.’s thesis, Tweeting: “This is vile and wrong. It is never funny to joke about killing a president.” Other negative reactions have included: If Griffin was seeking attention and looking for a way to unify members of both political parties, she has succeeded on both fronts. In light of this never-ending backlash, however, Griffin recorded a 30-second video this evening and shared it on Twitter. “I beg for your forgiveness. I went too far,” Griffin is here to say, adding: “I moved the line, and then I crossed it. I went way too far. The image is too disturbing. I understand how it offends people.” She goes on to say she’ll see if Shields will remove the video in question and all of the photos. As far as apologies go, it doesn’t get much more forthright than this: Kathy Griffin Apologizes for Donald Trump Video But it doesn’t stop us from asking: What the heck were you thinking in the first place, Kathy Griffin?!?!? Seriously.
