Kanye West to Launch New Production Company, Likens Self to Steve Jobs

Watch the throne … Steve Jobs. Kanye West, who has never been accused of thinking small, or having a modest opinion of himself, detailed plans for a new production company on Twitter Wednesday. In a three-hour rant, the 34-year-old rapper / hip-hop mogul outlined his plan for Donda, a brand-new, far-reaching company named after his late mother Donda West. Donda will “pick up where Steve Jobs left off,” West said of the late, visionary Apple CEO / founder. Way to set manageable expectations. How will it do that, exactly, Kanye? With 22 divisions of writers, DJs, publicists, designers, musicians, scientists and SO much more, the company headed by the musician will strive to “make products and experiences that people want and can afford,” West Tweeted . He will “help simplify and aesthetically improve everything we see hear, touch, taste and feel,” and “dream of, create, advertise and produce products driven equally by emotional want and utilitarian need… To marry our wants and needs.” Again, no baby steps for Mr. West. West hinted that Donda is releasing a “semi sci-fi” film in 2012 called “2016 OLYMPICS.” And that’s not all. West told fans he may become creative director of a Jetsons film and wants to “design” the MTV Video Music Awards. Beyond the worlds of design, film, music, technology and product development, the “N*ggas in Paris” rapper also wants to fix America’s schools, he wrote.

Amber Portwood: Evicted From Home While in Jail!

Amber Portwood’s 2012 has not started off on a positive note. The Teen Mom star’s landlord is evicting her, which isn’t an issue now, as she’s got an indefinite place to stay in the county jail – but could be a problem down the line. The company that owns the home in Anderson, Ind., filed notice with the court yesterday that it wants Amber, who is due in court Jan. 13, out ASAP. Happy new year! According to court documents, Portwood somehow violated her lease agreement. No specifics are listed, but she violates probation like it’s her job, so no shock there. The landlord delivered a “notice to vacate” on December 20, the day after Amber was hauled off to jail for a battery of alleged probation violations. Gonna be rough. Portwood’s hearing in her probation case is set for Jan. 13, with her eviction case scheduled for mediation Jan. 25. If she misses that, she’s evicted immediately. Hey, at least she’s not pregnant again. Sorry Leah Messer .

Jessica Simpson Pregnancy: Maybe Sort of Confirmed!

NOTE : Jessica Simpson’s pregnancy is not actually confirmed by the star herself in this article, but you gotta love OK! trying to piggyback on recent rumors. In classic celebrity gossip tabloid fashion, all this cover does is recycle other rumors, mixed with some actual news, to convince you something big is afoot. And it may be. Eric Johnson totally got Jessica Simpson pregnant if you ask us. But there is nothing new or confirmed by the “singer” in this story. Nothing. Hey, after In Touch scooped the first pregnancy report, OK! had to try something! It’s just sort of a rule.’ But it was typical Jessica that she was making a joke of it.” One thing’s for sure. At 31, Jessica has learned to take life’s twists and turns in stride … like getting pregnant by mistake and having to postpone her wedding . When life hands you lemons, what can you to but make lemonade … and a $h!t ton of money by holding out for an “exclusive” pregnancy reveal in Us .

‘Jersey Shore’ Star Snooki Talks Hangover Cures, Ditching Pouf

Reality star tells ‘Ellen’ hard partying has sometimes left her asking, ‘Why did I wake up in a garbage can?’ By Eric Ditzian Snooki on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” on Wednesday Photo: Warner Bros. Ellen DeGeneres’ bond with “Jersey Shore” star Snooki stretches back to last February, when the comedian first welcomed the reality star onto her talk show. The following month, while assessing a particularly memorable “American Idol” performance , the ex-judge remarked to a contestant, “Like Snooki’s pouf, you just stand out.” Later in the year, Ellen dressed up as that pouf for Halloween, and on Wednesday’s (January 5) episode of the “Ellen” show — she joked that she’d finally taken down her pumpkin-themed holiday decorations — the host welcomed Snickers back onto the program for a chat. Their conversation veered from the reality star’s signature hairstyle to what we can expect from new “Shore” episodes to her hard-partying ways. “If I am hung over, the best cure is to drink margaritas the morning of, and you’re fine,” she said. “Or mimosas with your eggs. “I want to remember my night, and sometimes I just don’t,” she added. “It sucks. So you’re like, ‘What did I do? Why did I wake up in a garbage can?’ ” So, um, how often do such things happen? “Once a month,” she joked, before saying that she’s toned down her drinking recently. Snooki has also made a commitment to get into shape, showing Ellen some workout moves and saying of two oversize exercise balls, “These are big balls.” Shaping up and saying no to those extra late-night vodka shots aren’t the only changes coming to Snooki’s life. She’s also ditched the pouf, opting for a straight, bang-bedecked hairdo. “I’m so over it,” she said. Before saying goodbye to Ellen, Snooki explained a little of what’s coming down the line on “Jersey Shore” this season. “The new season is insane,” she said. “We’ll fight one minute and then the next minute we’ll be like, ‘You want a shot?’ We’re fine. It’s so weird. I think that’s how brothers and sisters are like, minus the hookups.” The new season of MTV’s “Jersey Shore” premieres Thursday at 10 p.m. ET on MTV.

Gerry Rafferty Dead At 63

Singer/songwriter was behind hits like ‘Baker Street’ and ‘Stuck in the Middle With You.’ By James Montgomery Gerry Rafferty Photo: David Redfern/Redferns Gerry Rafferty , the singer/songwriter behind smooth ’70s hits like “Stuck in the Middle With You,” “Right Down the Line” and “Baker Street,” died Tuesday (January 4). He was 63. Born in Scotland, Rafferty busked on the streets of Glasgow and formed a folk group called the Humblebums with Billy Connolly, who would go on to become a renowned stand-up comedian and actor. After releasing a pair of albums with the band, Rafferty released a solo record and then formed Stealers Wheel, who scored Stateside success in 1972 — they were viewed as the British Invasion’s answer to Crosby, Stills Nash & Young — with their debut album and, of course, the song “Stuck in the Middle With You,” which would achieve additional notoriety when it was prominently featured in Quentin Tarantino’s “Reservoir Dogs” some two decades later. Rafferty would move on from Stealers Wheel and find success as a solo artist with 1978’s City to City, which featured “Right Down the Line” and “Baker Street,” which features one of the most legendary saxophone solos in music history and has since been covered by everyone from Waylon Jennings to the Foo Fighters . His follow-up, 1979’s Night Owl, featured appearances from Richard and Linda Thompson and was a moderate success, though each of his subsequent albums fared poorly on the charts, due in no small part to Rafferty’s reluctance to perform live. He continued to release albums into the 2000s, but for the most part, he disappeared from the public eye, and his later years were marked by a series of reports that suggested he was battling alcoholism. Last month, Rafferty reportedly suffered kidney failure and was placed on life support in an English hospital. U.K. newspaper The Guardian reported that he died at his home in Dorset with his daughter Martha by his side. Share your memories of Gerry Rafferty in the comments. Related Artists Gerry Rafferty

Will Demi Lovato Be Home for Thanksgiving?

Will Demi Lovato be breaking corn bread with her family on Thanksgiving? The 18-year old hopes so, but any timetable for the singer’s release from a Chicago area rehab facility will be based on her progress and nothing else. She’s “getting better,” a source told E! News this week. “She doesn’t want to be in the center for Thanksgiving and wants to go home.” Until that day comes, insiders say Lovato will try to make herself feel at home. She plans to watch friend Miley Cyrus perform Sunday night at the American Music Awards. Looking farther down the line, Lovato has recorded a few tracks for an upcoming album, but isn’t likely to pick up where she left off any time soon. “They’re still committed to her,” a source said. “No one is abandoning her. But she is holding off on her music for a bit… There are a lot of people who never heard of Demi Lovato before this and if she can get through this, she will come back stronger and bigger than ever.” And healthier, we all hope. That’s the most important thing.

Ryan Phillippe On Drake, Jay-Z And His Hip-Hop Aspirations

‘I’ve grown up a hip-hop head since I was mad young,’ ‘MacGruber’ star says. By Eric Ditzian Ryan Phillippe Photo: MTV News At first it seemed like a joke. Ryan Phillippe appeared on “Saturday Night Live” in a sketch called “Hip-Hop Kids” that had him challenging a grizzly bear to a rap battle. “The only thing that bear is going to eat is my rhymes!” he boasted. But maybe he wasn’t just playing around with the world of hip-hop. In an interview published weeks after his “SNL” gig, the 35-year-old actor claimed he’s a seriously gifted rapper. “I rap really well,” he told Women’s Health, of all people. “I can sound like Lil Wayne or Ludacris. I’m dead serious…I can spit!” [ Really? This was something MTV News had to investigate, and we got the chance when Phillippe was promoting his upcoming action-comedy, “MacGruber.” Does he really harbor hip-hop aspirations? “True,” he said. “I would like to, at some point, produce an artist down the line. It’s always been a passion of mine. I’ve grown up a hip-hop head since I was mad young.” So who’s he listening to these days to get inspiration for the day he heads into the recording studio with an up-and-coming lyricist? Turns out Phillippe just checked out one of hip-hop’s hottest acts when he made his way to Drake’s sold-out show at Los Angeles’ Club Nokia earlier this week. “[H]e was amazing,” Phillippe said. “Not only was it Drake, but he brought out Nicki Minaj. Birdman came out and Tyga and Soulja Boy.” “There’s this guy Jay Electronica that I’m really into right now,” he added, going on to name-check some of his other favorite artists. “Jay-Z. Biggie. All of ’em, everybody, the whole gang!” Related Videos MTV Rough Cut: ‘MacGruber’ Related Artists Drake Jay-Z
