David Fincher and Trent Reznor, or their people at least, are running a great low-key and ‘unofficial’ promo site for Fincher’s version of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. Today the site, Mouth Taped Shut [1], has another little treat. In this case what we get to see is ‘vintage’ footage of the accident scene that provides the background for the film’s main story. (For those not familiar with the story,… Broadcasting platform : YouTube Source : /Film Discovery Date : 20/10/2011 07:39 Number of articles : 2
Through her marriage to IndyCar racer Dario Franchitti, Ashley Judd knew Dan Wheldon well. Therefore, a day after the 33-year old Indy 500 champion lost his life in a horrific on-track accident, the actress has memorialized the star via a Twitter message and poem. “As we continue to absorb Dan’s accident — we forget, remember, re-experience shock, denial, anger, pain — I’m reminded of a favorite poem,” Judd writes, including the verse in question: DEATH be not proud, though some have called thee Mighty and dreadfull, for, thou art not so, For, those, whom thou think’st, thou dost overthrow, Due not, poore death, nor yet canst thou kill me. From rest & sleepe, which but thy pictures be, Much pleasure then from thee, much more must flow, And soonest our best men with thee doe goe, Rest of their bones, and soules deliverie. One short sleepe past, wee wake eternally, And death shall be no more; death, thou shalt die. J Donne. Our thoughts go out to Wheldon’s loved ones. [Photo: WENN.com]
The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo star Rooney Mara strikes an elegant pose on November cover of Vogue, wearing a Ralph Lauren gown with embroidery on the back. Embroidery of a dragon, obviously. The actress who won the coveted role of Lisbeth Salander says it was the perfect fit for her, and from the trailer we’ve seen and photos like this, it’s hard to argue: “I am very slow to warm. I’ve always been sort of a loner,” Rooney Mara reveals. “I didn’t play team sports. I am better one-on-one than in big groups.” “I can certainly understand wanting to be invisible and mistrusting people and wanting to understand everything before you engage with the world.” Even though Mara knows this is the role of a lifetime, she’s not looking forward to being in the spotlight after it premieres, Kristen Stewart -style. “That fame is not something I ever wanted for myself,” the 26-year-old says. “It just so happens that this huge, gigantic monster of a film came around that also happens to have the most incredible character I ever could have dreamed up.” “But my fear with a movie like this is the kind of exposure you get from it,” she continues. “I think that can be death to an actor. The more people know about you, the less they can project who you are supposed to be.” She continues that rumination with this: “It’s unfortunate you really only get one shot at that. After this, I won’t be able to be that girl again.” File that under good problems to have. After this role and the doors it will open, we have a feeling Rooney’s career could be raring to go.
I’m not a huge supporter of remaking great foreign films; the trend runs from enticing (Fincher’s Girl with the Dragon Tattoo ) to unnecessary ( Let Me In ). But because it’s inevitable that Hollywood will keep borrowing ideas from the outside world — and since the aptly named Fantastic Fest played host to so many of them over the past week — here are five international offerings I could see studios attempting to re-envision. Let’s just hope they don’t muck it up.
R&B singer Vesta Williams has died. Law enforcement sources say that the death is currently being treated as a suicide or accident, but not as a homicide. Multiple bottles of prescription pills were found in the El Segundo, Calif., hotel room where her body was found around 6 p.m. Thursday, reports say . Several bottles were discovered; some of them empty. R.I.P. Vesta Williams (1963-2011). The coroner won’t know if drugs played a part in the singer’s death until the toxicology reports are in, and that could take up to six weeks. Williams was best known for the R&B hits, “Once Bitten, Twice Shy”, “Sweet Sweet Love”, “Congratulations” and “Special”. She was 48. [Photo: Fame Pictures]
There’s only one thing more challenging than spelling the name Dimitri Charalambopoulos: figuring out what the heck this guy sees in Camille Grammer! The 35-year old bankruptcy attorney has been identified as that reality star’s new boyfriend. She showed him off last night during Lisa Vanderpump’s birthday party at SUR in West Hollywood.
Kelly Bensimon is no longer a Real Housewife of New York City, having received her pink slip from Bravo (along with Alex McCord, Jill Zarin and Cindy Barshop) last week. Following statements made by those ousted narcissists – Zarin is threatening another reality TV appearance , McCord and Barship are selling stuff – Bensimon has now spoken out for the first time about the life change. “I’m so grateful for the overwhelming support I’ve received from all of you. I hope you enjoyed my run on the show,” Bensimon wrote on her website, adding mysteriously: “Stay tuned for I’m just getting started.” Nope, sorry, Kelly. But we’re doing what every sensible TV viewer on the planet ought to be doing: turning the channel. [Photo: WENN.com]

David Fincher cuts an incredible trailer. We’ve always loved the promotional materials for his movies and the new trailer for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is no exception. It’s electric, intense and fantastically scored. That’s why we were skeptical about this parody trailer for the Muppet movie that mimics it’s style and titling.
