‘Your Highness’ Director Reveals Some ‘Nasty’ Deleted Scenes

‘Justin Theroux’s character, Leezar, lays an egg and a little dragon fetus comes out of it,’ David Gordon Green says of one sequence. By Kara Warner, with reporting by Ryan J. Downey David Gordon Green and Danny McBride on the set of “Your Highness” Photo: Frank Connor Given the unpredictable and improvisational nature of filming comedies — particularly those that involve jokesters Danny McBride, James Franco and director David Gordon Green (“Pineapple Express,” “Eastbound and Down”), it seems fair to assume that a fair amount of material filmed for “Your Highness” was left on the cutting-room floor. When MTV News caught up with the director recently, we asked him what omitted scenes might appear as part of the special features section on DVD/Blu-Ray. “There’s a lot of deleted scenes; all of them because we knew the movie needed to adhere to certain rules,” Gordon Green explained. “There was a really funny sequence that’s a musical sequence in the middle of the movie, of James on the quest, singing a song to Bella Donna who is Zooey Deschanel, up in the tower,” he explained. “[She] is singing back to her love to come and rescue her, and it’s really funny but it was one of the things when we test-screened the movie, we identified that as a point that broke the rules of the movie and it almost seemed like a ‘Saturday Night Live’ sketch,” he continued. “It was really, really funny on its own, but within the rules of the movie, it all of the sudden feels false. So there are things like that that I definitely want to put on the DVD because they’re really enjoyable and I’m really proud of the work that we did to make it happen,” he said, adding that a few things felt a little too over-the-top, even for them. “We had another scene where Justin Theroux’s character, Leezar , lays an egg and a little dragon fetus comes out of it,” he recalled. “Literally, a massive nasty explosion of green goo comes out of his butt, followed by a disgusting egg and a little half-formed fetus, so things like that just felt [like] it was a little excessive in going for something that was heightened and gimmicky,” he said. “[But] that stuff is really fun to watch.” Check out everything we’ve got on “Your Highness.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com . ‘Harry Potter’ Epilogue Was ‘Really Weird,’ Bonnie Wright Says

‘Being a mother with three children suddenly when you’re young is quite a big [change],’ she tells MTV News at DVD premiere. By Kara Warner, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Bonnie Wright attends the opening of Harry Potter: The Exhibiton in New York City Photo: Getty Images For the most devoted “Harry Potter” fans out there, the countdown has already begun in anticipation of the final film release, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2.” Over the weekend, we got a sneak peek at Harry Potter: The Exhibition , as well as a few exclusive clips from the “Deathly Hallows, Part 1” DVD/Blu-ray. At the DVD premiere, we asked actress Bonnie Wright about the experience filming the franchise’s highly anticipated “epilogue” sequence , in which all the characters appear as themselves, only 19 years in the future. “It was really weird,” Wright said of seeing herself in makeup made to look like a woman in her 30s. “People said, ‘Don’t worry, you look good for 35!’ ” Wright said the experience was a lot of fun, mostly because she had to embody a completely new aspect of her character, Ginny Weasley-Potter. “Being a mother with three children suddenly when you’re young is quite a big [change],” she said. “It’s strange, because obviously [when] I started, my first scene ever filmed was on the train platform 9 3/4, and then we came back to shoot some more before Christmas, and it was back at platform 9 3/4, so I finished, and it was like this amazing cycle.” Regarding the scenes she’s most looking forward to seeing in the final film, Wright said she’s pumped to see the final battle. “I think I’m mainly looking forward to the epic battle that is to come,” she said. “See[ing] the power of good triumph over evil is going to be satisfying.” Check out everything we’ve got on “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com . ‘Harry Potter’ Ending Is ‘Emotional,’ Jamie Campbell Bower Says

Bower says being part of the franchise is ‘a real honor.’ By Jocelyn Vena Jamie Campbell Bower Photo: MTV News This June, “Harry Potter” fans will bid the series a final fond farewell as “Deathly Hallows, Part 2” hits theaters. With “Part 1” already out on DVD and Harry Potter: The Exhibition at the Discovery Times Square building in New York City, the series is not going out quietly. One of the series’ stars, Jamie Campbell Bower, admits he feels lucky to have been a piece of that very large puzzle. “I was only on set for a very short period of time, and I only play a very small role in the film,” he told MTV News when he stopped by to talk about his new Starz series “Camelot.” “I suppose, you know, just for me personally, being able to be involved in something that is taking place in England for 10 years and something that has given people jobs and a great boost to the British film industry, that was a real honor.” Bower has appeared in two of the iconic films (both parts of “Deathly Hallows”), and he said that seeing it all come to an end has even more meaning for the film’s principal stars, who have been there since day one. “For the other guys in it, again, it’s been a part of their lives for 10 years, and that’s a big deal. I suppose maybe they didn’t see it as a job, it just sort of became their daily life: Go to school, do your job and go home and have your fish and chips — ’cause we all eat fish and chips,” he joked. “I can imagine it’s exciting for them and emotional as well.” Check out everything we’ve got on “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com . Harry Potter: The Exhibition — We Take You Inside!

Discovery Times Square show opening Tuesday includes ‘authentic’ props, costumes and sets from all eight franchise movies. By Eric Ditzian Fans attend “Harry Potter: The Exhibition” Photo: Mike Coppola/ Getty Alas, all of you muggles out there will never have a chance to step inside Hogwarts, to suit up for a magical Quidditch match, or to sit down for a chat in Hagrid’s Hut. But can come pretty close, thanks to Harry Potter: The Exhibition. Housed at the Discovery Times Square building in New York City from April 5 through September 5, the exhibit showcases props, costumes and sets from all eight franchise movies, from 2001’s “Sorcerer’s Stone” up through the part two of “Deathly Hallows,” which hits theaters this summer. “When we first met with the filmmakers, we wanted to make sure everything was as authentic as possible,” Eddie Newquist, an exhibition creator, told MTV News. “We decided to create an experience where you felt like you were going into Hogwarts. We also wanted to create an experience where you could get very close to a lot of the special costumes and things that maybe go by very quickly in the films but really have a lot of significant meaning.” A few days before Monday’s (April 4) DVD premiere of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1,” MTV News got a peek at what the exhibit is all about. It begins as attendees enter Hogwarts and pass through the lobby of moving portraits. From there, it’s on to the Gryffindor common room, the dormitories, the classrooms and Hagrid’s Hut, before heading out to a Quidditch pitch for a chance to toss a quaffle. Things then take a darker turn, taking folks through the dragon-filled Forbidden Forest and into a confrontation with Voldemort and the Death Eaters. At every turn, visitors will see actual props, costumes and other elements from the films — from Harry’s glasses to Godric Gryffindor’s sword to a hands-on opportunity to pull a young Mandrake from its pot. “It’s a great way to celebrate the end of this amazing, epic series,” Newquist said. “But it’s also a way to pay a bit of homage to the artistry and craftsmanship that’s gone into creating it.” Will you check out the “Harry Potter” exhibit in New York City? Britney Spears To Release Two ‘Till The World Ends’ Videos

A director’s cut and a choreography cut of the video will both be released. By Jocelyn Vena Britney Spears Photo: MTV News & Docs Who needs one “Till the World Ends” video when you can have two? Well, it seems that Britney Spears’ fans will get just that. JustJared.com reports that the singer will release two videos for her second single from Femme Fatale. According to the site, “The director’s cut will have more of an apocalyptic story line while the choreography cut will have the unabridged version of Britney’s dance moves.” The video was directed by Ray Kay and shot in Los Angeles last month. The video features Spears in sexy, body-hugging clothes getting sweaty with her dancers. “The set was a little much. It was grimy and gross and it felt like there was poop everywhere when there wasn’t,” she recalled in Sunday’s MTV special “Britney Spears: I Am the Femme Fatale.” “It was sweat and it was disgusting sometimes … [I] tough it out,” she laughed. In the video sneak peek featured in the special, Spears opted to change out of her sexy heels to dance in more practical Uggs. “It hurts … but it looks good,” she explained. “It wasn’t a full-length shot, so a girl’s about comfort when it’s not showing.” She later added, “It was a lot of fun. I had never worked with Ray Kay before. I was really happy with the work we did.” Spears’ “Till The World Ends” songwriter, Ke$ha , opened up to People.com about how she’d like to hang out with the pop star now that they’ve worked on a hit pop song together. “Skinny dipping. It would be a dress-up-like-Ke$ha-or-Britney party. Either her place or my place, it doesn’t matter,” the “Blow” singer said, describing their perfect hang-out. “I have a small, salt-water pool [at my house in Nashville] that has laser beams in it and a stereo so you can be underwater listening to music.” Are you excited for two “Till the World Ends” videos?
