Sadie Robertson Stands By Phil Robertson Despite Controversial Comments, Talks Faith & DWTS

Duck Dynasty star Sadie Robertson has been making quite a name for herself on a different show this season, surging to the top tier on Dancing With the Stars. The 17-year-old high school student has had plenty of support from father Willie, uncles Jase and Jep, and newly-engaged brother John Luke Robertson . Sadie Robertson and Mark Ballas – Dancing With the Stars Samba Last week, a duck call-inspired samba earned Sadie and pro partner Mark Ballas a nearly perfect score of 37 out of 40, putting her near the lead on Season 19. The routine, like everything in her life, was centered around family and faith. Sadie says her life has been turned upside down since Duck Dynasty debuted on A&E, and while it’s given her a lot of new opportunities, it has its drawbacks. “I was 14 and didn’t realize how big it was going to be,” she said of the last few years. “But there’s definitely been some bad things about being in the public eye.” “Everybody knows who you are [and] they’re looking for you to mess up,” she said. “My grandpa said some things that upset some people and the press came after him.” In that sense, family patriarch Phil Robertson casts a wide shadow. We put our faith in God and we like to share that with everybody.” Sadie revealed that after Phil Robertson’s comments about homosexuality to GQ magazine in December, the whole family considered quitting the show for good. They ultimately didn’t, as Phil was reinstated and two new seasons have since aired (you can watch Duck Dynasty online to see all the 2014 installments). Sadie says that family comes before fame, and always will. “The thing is, no matter what he would have said, we should have stuck by him, because he’s my grandpa,” Sadie said, acknowledging, “Yeah, he’s very opinionated.” Still, “he’s my family, and family sticks together .” Dancing With the Stars Season 19 Cast Photos 1. Duck Dynasty Season 6 Episode 5 Recap: It’s All About the Brand

On A&E’s Duck Dynasty Season 6 Episode 5, the gang seriously considered revamping the Duck Commander logo, crazy as that might sound to fans. Watch Duck Dynasty Season 6 Episode 5 Online The motto “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” applies to many things in life, and the Robertson family certainly embraces it with its emphasis on family and tradition. Yet CEO Willie put it in everybody’s heads that he wants to hire someone to design a snazzy new Duck Commander symbol to reinvigorate the brand. The flying duck has been the main image of the Robertson’s family business since 1972, when the Duck Commander himself, Phil Robertson, founded it. Ultimately, despite Jase Robertson and the guys getting a little carried away in response to the idea, the logo change is scuttled and everyone is happy. Not surprising in the end. Elsewhere on Duck Dynasty Season 6 Episode 5 , Phil helped Bella with a science project, which always makes for a good time. Phil plus granddaughters equals priceless exchanges galore, even if the episode was less eventful overall than last week, when they decided to be firemen. Duck Dynasty: Phil Robertson Suspended Because of Gay A&E Employees

Phil Robertson disrespected the gay employees at A&E, and that’s ultimately what got the star suspended from Duck Dynasty, according to a new report. The 67-year-old Robertson family patriarch’s suspension has become a polarizing topic this week, and now TMZ has insight into how it all went down. Why would the network suspend one of its most popular personalities when it knew the backlash it would get for it from fans and certain pundits? A&E CEO Nancy Dubuc felt she could not in good conscience ask the network’s gay employees to kill themselves for the show after Phil’s comments. When Robertson disrespected them by calling all gays sinners, and rather coarsely at that, in his recent interview with GQ , Dubuc felt she had no choice. A number of gay employees involved in the production of Duck Dynasty were outraged by Phil’s comments to GQ and wanted Dubuc to take action . The CEO felt that If Robertson had made similar comments about African Americans or Jews, the public outcry for his firing would’ve been immense. Long story short, she felt it was wrong not to react similarly because his comments were directed at gays, of whom she employs more than a few. Gay rights groups such as GLAAD was heavily involved in lobbying for the suspension of Phil Robertson , and they had an impact on A&E as well. Robertson was placed on “indefinite” suspension from the show mid-week. The Duck Dynasty cast has responded to the controversy, expressing disappointment and implying that the show won’t go on without their patriarch. Duck Dynasty Cast Issues Statement, Stands By Phil Robertson Phil Robertson Sermon As for criticism that A&E knew what it was getting into with Phil when they hired him – see this sermon video from 2010 (above) – a source explained: “He just took it too far with GQ … especially with the coarse language.” It certainly was harsh. Though Phil later said in a statement that he loves all of humanity and does not judge, his initial quotes did not give that impression. Regarding Phil’s religious views – the explanation for his comments – A&E is adamant that this has suspension has nothing to do with being “anti-religion.” Many critics alleged this, along with claiming that his constitutional rights have been violated. But in truth, the network runs lots of religious programming. Perhaps most notably, A&E is the home of Mark Burnett’s The Bible . The CEO is paying the price for her actions and has been receiving death threats. The status of Robertson and the show remains unclear at this time. He hasn’t been outright fired and the show hasn’t been canceled, and it’s unclear if production was even underway on new episodes at the time. In the Duck Dynasty Season 5 sneak peek (January 15), Phil is prominently featured, and there are several marathons of repeats on this month. Clearly, the network isn’t cutting ties with Phil yet, but they’re most likely weighing their options and speaking with the family about how to proceed. Should Phil Robertson have been suspended from Duck Dynasty?   Yes, obviously. He was way over the line. Maybe. I can see why A&E decided to. No way. He’s just stating his opinions, people! Duck Dynasty: Should A&E Cancel Show Due to Phil Robertson Controversy?

Will Phil Robertson’s controversial, now-infamous comments on homosexuality mark the end of Duck Dynasty? Should they? That’s a question many are asking. The answer won’t be an easy one, especially for A&E, which announced that the patriarch of the popular family show had been placed on indefinite suspension . But can the ratings juggernaut even go on without its central character, the man who presides over the family and leads the dinner time prayers? And will fewer people watch Duck Dynasty online or on TV, and buy less show merchandise, given Phil Robertson’s remarks about gays and gay sex? “All shows run their course,” said an insider close to the production. “This still has at least another season or two in it. Granted, the overall feeling of uninhibited love that this country has had for the show and brand will likely start to turn a bit.” Since Duck Dynasty boasts such a big cast, losing a cast member won’t prevent them from moving ahead with the popular series, even if the focus shifts. The creative and marketing teams still face major problems , however, as Phil is ultimately the leader of the family and the source of many “words of wisdom.” He is also the founder of the multi-million dollar Duck Commander business that the show prominently features, and thus his absence likely going to hurt. As a result, it will be tough for A&E to continue airing the program without inciting protests from LGBT, African American and rural interest groups. Phil Robertson Suspension, Anti-Gay Backlash They just may not have a choice, says one TV insider. Nor is the show likely to find a home anywhere else if A&E were to cut ties with the Robertsons. “There isn’t a network out there that would do things differently, with all their corporate conglomerate ties, they’d all follow a similar course as A&E has,” said the source. “It’s likely the beginning of the end for Duck Dynasty .” Is it, though? Many fans would be upset if the show did not go on, and want to see Robertson similarly reinstated and the network lift the suspension. A&E is facing threats of audience boycotts and outrage from devoted fans of the program since it made the decision to suspend Phil Robertson . Calling it an act against freedom of speech and those who hold traditional Christian values, critics of the network feel he is being unfairly persecuted. While Robertson did not apologize for his anti-gay comments , in which he likened gay sex to bestiality and prostitution, he did explain in a statement: “I myself am a product of the 60s; I centered my life around sex, drugs and rock and roll until I hit rock bottom and accepted Jesus as my Savior.” “My mission today is to go forth and tell people about why I follow Christ and also what the bible teaches, and part of that teaching is that women and men are meant to be together.” “However, I would never treat anyone with disrespect just because they are different from me. We are all created by the Almighty and like Him, I love all of humanity.” “We would all be better off if we loved God and loved each other.” What do you think? Did Robertson deserve to be suspended?   Yes, obviously. He was way over the line. Maybe. I can see why A&E decided to. No way. He’s just stating his opinions, people! Duck Dynasty Recap: The Si Robertson Guide to Dating

On last night’s Duck Dynasty, employee Martin revealed that he had a date, which the Robertsons naturally had to step in and offer their two cents on. Jase, Korie and Jessica gave him a mini-makeover, and the true dating Ace in the Hole, Uncle Si, gave him a crash course in dating etiquette. Who better than Silas Robertson to handle that task? Duck Dynasty – Si Dating Tips “Even when you’re eating, don’t let the conversation die,” Si advised him … making parents of young children everywhere die just a little inside. In a confessional later, Si also dropped great suggestions of “lines that women love,” including the gem “Can I have directions … to your heart?” Naturally, to help him prepare, Si pretended to be the girl of Martin’s affections. “Hello Martin, my name is Tiffany,” he said, complete with a feather boa. Perhaps it was for the best, and not entirely surprising, when Martin told them the morning after that he took absolutely none of their advice. He was just himself, he said, and earned a second date. Oh well. Thanks and better luck next time, Si. Player. Meanwhile, Phil tried to teach his granddaughters to connect with nature instead of iPads, etc. It was predictably cute and very … Phil. Duck Dynasty Clip – Si Gives Martin Expert Dating Advice Duck Dynasty Clip – Phil Takes The Kids Fishing Some of the best Duck Dynasty quotes from last night: “If you like her, you need to put a ring on her.” – Si “They’re already suffering from digital dementia.” – Phil “Grandkids need to know standard things: How to bait a hook, how to cast a bait, how to bite a little snake in half — basic child rearing stuff.” – Phil “Y’all are like snack-eating computer freaks.” – Phil “If fish were vampires, Si would be like garlic, daylight, and a stake through the heart … simultaneously.” – Si     “You have a date … ? Is it Mother’s Day?” – Willie “Play the game? I was a player before they even invented the game, Jack.” – Si     “I didn’t date the girl from the ice cream parlor because she sampled the goods too much … if you get my drift.” – Si    “He can’t ‘be himself.’ That’s like throwin’ him to the wolves.” – Willie “He dresses like a seventh grader … who hasn’t yet discovered deodorant.” – Korie “His decorating style is kinda like a mix between ‘The Brady Bunch’ and that killer from ‘Silence of the Lambs.'” – Willie “We have entered the bowels of bachelorhood.” – Jase “You’re hoarding mustard, and you have an inordinate amount of socks.” -Jase “You look like a hairy Easter egg.” – Si “Darlin’, you’re on fire — like donut grease.” – Si “Women are dangerous creatures. They got ragin’ hormones, mood swings, lip stick, hairspray … They got all these little sticky pins in their hair. Hey, you talk about dangerous — one wrong move? ‘Boom!’ You’re gone.” -Si
