‘Everyone’s had those things they can’t necessarily explain,’ Efron said at L.A. premiere of ghost drama. It revolves around Charlie (Efron), who works at a cemetery to be close to his dead younger brother, Sam (Charlie Tahan). Eventually he must choose between being close to his brother’s ghost or pursuing love. When MTV News caught up with Efron and the rest of the “St. Cloud” crew at the Los Angeles premiere of the film, which opens July 30, we wanted to know about their spookiest real-life ghost encounters. “Nothing really, but I think everyone’s had those things they can’t necessarily explain at one point or another,” Efron said. “No, I don’t have any ghost stories for you.” Co-star Donal Logue feels that at the very core of life there is a spiritual something. “Every minute of every day is like from [protozoal] soup, man. How did this happen?” he explained. “You know what I’m saying?” Spirituality seemed to be the theme among the cast and guests at the premiere. Stephen Baldwin explained his take on ghosts, saying, “I have real-life spiritual encounters every day, but not with ghosts: with the Holy Ghost.” Similarly, Amanda Crew added, “You know, I’ve never seen any ghost, but I definitely believe that there’s some sort of something spiritual out there. I mean, there has to be. There’s been too many times in my life that should have gone another way that there’s someone looking out for me.” Director Burr Steers admitted that there are otherworldly beings that keep him up at night. “In the middle of the night, when you hear things clanging around, I’m a coward and imagine that there are things at work,” he said. “But here, on the red carpet, no.” Matt Ward shared one of his ghostly encounters. “This acting community that I live in, we actually used to be in this building, and there was a ghost in there,” he recalled. “It was weird. You would just be sitting in a room and you would see this little skitter by and that’s probably one of the only experiences that I’ve had other than [when] I used to mess with my friends a lot when I was younger. I would always pretend to be possessed right after we’d watch a scary movie.” That seems like nothing compared to one very spooky moment Augustus Prew once had. “I was doing this job in Manchester and I was staying in this hotel that used to be an old Victorian mill,” he recalled. “About two o’clock in the morning I woke up and it was really cold in the room, And there was this little kid at the end of my bed.
