Rumors of a Britney Spears and Jason Trawick split have been lingering for months, and now it looks like it’s actually a possibility … at least according to Hollyscoop. The celebrity gossip claims that Britney and Jason are about to split … because Jason’s had enough of their relationship … and Spears doesn’t know it yet. A source close to the couple says Jason wants out – and she’s the last to know. “Jason has told Britney’s entire family that he’s planning to leave her, so that Britney will have a support system when he breaks the bad news,” the source claims. Jason is reportedly waiting for The X Factor to end, because he and her family feel she’ll take the news hard, and would rather not have her deal with it while filming. Oddly, he apparently wants to remain her manager after they split. Not sure how Brit would like Jason being on the payroll after he dumps her, but he has been great for her career, and she can’t make these calls anyway, so who knows. Jason Trawick used to be Britney’s agent as well, but when they became a couple, he left his agency in 2011, dropped her as a client, and solely became her manager. A second Britney Spears source denies this, claiming, “I haven’t heard anything about [the split], but I do know they are going on vacation together for the holidays.” So, that brings you up to date. Think it’ll last? Yes! He’s perfect for her and her kids. No, I just don’t see the connection. View Poll »

Pamela Anderson is upset, but not necessarily surprised, at Tuesday’s Dancing With the Stars results . Just before getting the boot, she tweeted, “Waiting for the ax to fall.” Pamela Anderson – Dancing With the Stars Week 1 The actress was reportedly so saddened by her elimination that she skipped out on backstage interviews, however, leaving partner Tristan MacManus to handle the fallout. “Pam is with her family now. She’s a little bit upset. Rightly so,” he told Extra . “Maybe she feels that she didn’t do as good as she wanted or could have.” At least she got to see Justin Bieber perform live before packing her bags. Anderson did, to her credit, put on a brave face for Jimmy Kimmel Live via satellite. “Oh well,” the bombshell told the late-night host, with Tristan by her side. “We got sent home, but we’re not going home. We’re going out.” Good way to look at it right there. When Jimmy asked if she was surprised, she replied, “No, we got the lowest scores and that was a subtle hint… all these guys are so good.” “I don’t know what’s going on, I’m not a dancer.” What do you think? Did DWTS voters get it right? Yes, it was the right decision. No! Someone else! View Poll »
Rock band will become first Japanese act to headline MSG on Sunday, which frontman Hyde calls ‘highlight’ of a 20-year career. By James Montgomery Hyde of L’arc en Ciel Photo: MTV News On Sunday, Japanese art-rock act L’Arc en Ciel — French for “the rainbow,” naturally — will make history when they become the first band from their homeland to headline a show at New York’s iconic Madison Square Garden. The show, part of the band’s 20th anniversary world tour, was originally scheduled for the much smaller Theater at MSG, but due to overwhelming demand from their long-suffering Stateside fans — L’Arc have played just one North American show in their two decades of existence, a 2004 gig at an Otaku convention in Baltimore — organizers moved it to the venerable Garden arena. And for a band that has had approximately zero promotion here in the U.S., it is understandably a very big deal, as frontman Hyde told MTV News (via translator) on Friday (March 23). “This is huge for our band to perform at the world-famous Madison Square Garden, so I want to make sure we give you the very best show for the American audience. … I want to take the very best of everything we’ve done in Japan and put it in this show,” Hyde said. “It’s so hard for a Japanese act to be successful in America, but we were given this opportunity, so that means there is a possibility for us to break in the American market. I definitely feel lucky to be here after 20 years as a band.” And for Hyde, who grew up listening to “L.A. metal … Guns N’ Roses and M
‘I’ll be honest, I felt there was a lot of contradiction,’ Van Pelt tells MTV News after her elimination. By James Montgomery, with reporting by Kelly Marino Erika Van Pelt Photo: MTV News To just about anyone who tuned in to this week’s “American Idol,” Erika Van Pelt’s exit was a shocker, to say the very least, especially since her performance of “New York State of Mind” was one of the highlights. But also because, you know, Heejun Han is still on the show . Rather than using her three minutes to goof off, Van Pelt genuinely seemed determine to put her best foot forward on Wednesday night, whether it was listening to “Idol” judges’ previous advice to minimize her onstage movements or taking designer Tommy Hilfiger’s hairstyling tips to heart. Oh, and then she delivered a sultry, soulful version of the Joel classic, all of which seemed to guarantee she’d be safe … for at least another week. But, as it turns out, that wasn’t the case, and on Thursday night’s results show , it was Van Pelt who was sent packing. And immediately after her ouster, let’s just say Van Pelt was still trying to figure out what went wrong — though she’s got a pretty good idea of where to start. “I felt confused every week, I’ll be honest,” she told MTV News. “I felt there was a lot of contradiction, and as an artist and someone who takes their singing very seriously, it’s hard for me to take critique of my work, period, and then when you feel like you sorta have people telling you one thing and then telling you something completely different the week after, it’s hard. “Because constructive criticism to me is something I can go home, work on, fix and come back and say, ‘Here, I fixed it.’ I feel what happened to me in this competition was I would take all the advice, I’d work on things, I’d bring something different to the table, and they’d tell me the complete opposite. It’s been really hard for me, I can admit that.” And to that end, when asked which judge or mentor actually provided her with the best guidance, Van Pelt took a diplomatic pause and then answered rather truthfully: none of them. “This might sound really weird, but I feel like my fellow contestants taught me the most,” she said. “We have this inner-working where we all help each other, we all offer up our advice … it’s all about throwing these ideas out and never telling someone what they should do; it’s about giving them suggestions.” Of course, she did add that, ultimately, her “Idol” exit was of her own doing. “I will never blame anyone for misleading me in any way, shape or form; I’m a grown woman,” she said. And she’s grateful for all the opportunities the show has provided for her, chief among them being that, for a while at least, she doesn’t have to go back to her day job as a wedding DJ. “I don’t think I’ll be doing any DJ’ing for a while,” she laughed. “To be totally honest, I need to sleep!” Get your “Idol” fix on MTV News’ “American Idol” page , where you’ll find all the latest news, interviews and opinions.
After Lorene Scafaria and Ashton Kutcher were spotted together in Italy over the holidays, a rep for the actor came out and shot down rumors of these two dating. But we wonder what that rep would say now. In the latest issue of Us Weekly , a witness says he spotted the screenwriter and the actor cozying up at a charity event on February 25. “They were affectionate,” the onlooker reports . “When they thought no one was watching, they held hands, and she rubbed his back and his neck.” Scafaria previously dated Adam Brody and Kutcher, of course, was married to Demi Moore for six years. That actress just left rehab and is reportedly vacationing now in Turks and Caicos.
Kacie Boguskie did what she (or the producers) had to do. That’s how she explains traveling all the way to Switzerland just to “warn” Ben Flajnik about Courtney Robertson on last week’s episode of The Bachelor . With Southern charm, bright eyes and a big heart, it was easy to see why so many people fell in love with Kacie B. and were rooting for her over Court. Alas, Ben was not one of those people. Speaking with reporters about her hometown date gone awry, her trip to Europe and if she thinks Ben Flajnik and his fiancee will last, she had this to say: On her elimination : “I definitely didn’t think it was me. When it got down to one rose, I thought that Nicki would be going home. I was shocked.” On why she went to Switzerland after getting axed : “Initially, I was not going there in search of a second chance. I really wanted closure.” “I had to make my peace about Courtney, because I care. Of course, there was a little part of me that hoped he’d be like, “I made a mistake. Stay.” On why she cares so much about Courtney : “I have a problem with somebody who has two sides, because I don’t know which is really you.” “She was manipulating – I’m not sure who she manipulated more, us or him.” On whether her hometown date sent Ben running for the hills : “As much as I’d like to think Tennessee and California aren’t that different, they are.” “He wanted to live with whoever he [picked], and he owns a winery, so those are two things in his life that don’t line up with my parents’ views.” “If whoever I’m with doesn’t mesh [with my family], that causes problems.” On whether he should pick Lindzi Cox or Courtney Robertson : “I’m Team Lindzi. I love Lindzi, but it seems like he and Courtney get along great.” “At the end of the day, it’s what makes him happy. If they are a great couple, who are we to judge? If they are meant to be together, they should be.” On her own romantic status update : “Still single. Watching has helped me get over it. I’m in a great place and ready to see who I meet next.” Who do you think Ben should choose on the March 12 finale?
Well this is quite interesting: A U.S. District Court judge has rejected a challenge to Section 5 of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 — filled when the Department of Justice barred the city of Kinston, N.C. from holding nonpartisan elections — reasoning that lack of access to party affiliation would discriminate against minority voters who otherwise wouldn’t know how to find Democratic candidates on a ballot. The challenge was initiated after the Justice Department rejected a 2008 referendum vote in which the city of Kinston voted to stop listing candidates’ party affiliations on ballots. Under Section 5 of the Voting Rights Act, the Justice Department must approve changes to election law in regions with a history, however distant, of racial discrimination. The Justice Department prevented the 2008 referendum change, arguing in part that “the elimination of party affiliation on the ballot will likely reduce the ability of blacks to elect candidates of choice.” In other words, they are saying that if the parties are eliminated black people won’t know who to vote for…SMH. ‘It felt like ‘Gladiator’ up there,’ Josh Krajcik says of 13-year-old’s exit. By Gil Kaufman, with reporting by Jim Cantiello Rachel Crow after hearing the news of her elimination on “X Factor” Photo: FOX It may have been one of the most heart-wrenching scenes in recent reality-TV memory. And while the sight of 13-year-old Rachel Crow collapsing into sobs and calling for her mommy made for great TV, it’s also likely the reason “X Factor” is alone among major American singing competitions in allowing such young contestants. When MTV News’ Jim Cantiello caught up with the remaining semifinalists on Monday, he asked Chris Rene, Josh Krajcik, Marcus Canty and Melanie Amaro what they said to Crow on elimination night and how they’re handling the aftermath of her ouster. “I was just telling her that she really cannot give up, because she’s an amazing singer,” said soul-diva-in-the-making Amaro, who was one of the first to embrace Crow onstage and console the tweenager. “She’s only 13, and she can sing like that? She has a big career ahead of her. She really has to continue to work hard and do what she loves.” Cantiello also unraveled the mystery of what Crow was saying to Amaro after their embrace, when the pint-size belter gestured emphatically to the only remaining female in the competition. “She said to me, ‘You’ve gotta represent! You’ve gotta represent for the girls!’ ” Amaro said. “I was like, ‘OK, I will represent for the girls.’ ” Rough-edged hip-pop singer Rene said the vibe backstage after the elimination was so uncomfortable that he just wanted to leave. “It felt like your little sister … you see your little sister cry like that, it doesn’t make you happy,” he said. “You wish you could do something about it, and you can’t.” The scene was especially tense for Michael Bolton-esque crooner and sudden front-runner Krajcik, whose mentor, Nicole Scherzinger, took the brunt of the audience’s anger when she voted against Crow and sent the contest to deadlock. Ever since that fateful, tear-stained decision — which clearly had an emotional effect on the former Pussycat Doll as well — Scherzinger has come in for some harsh criticism that Krajcik said she didn’t deserve. “[It was] brutal,” said Krajcik, who did not deny that he felt like he wanted to take a swing at every boo bird in the house when they turned on Scherzinger. “You get emotional; it was tough. It felt like ‘Gladiator’ up there. I thought that I was in the middle of a blood-soaked sand arena. It was really, really weird. It’s something I will never forget. … I was surprised by a lot of things that night.” For his part, R&B smoothie Canty, who was standing beside Crow when she got the bad news, was still a bit miffed with host Steve Jones for setting a pick on him. “I said, ‘Can I talk to her?’ Obviously I didn’t want to see her on the ground,” Canty said. “Let her know everything was going to be all right.” What was your reaction to Rachel Crow’s elimination?
