American Idol Season 9: Top 2 Finalists

This week, the contenders played the songs of their choice and also songs which were picked by the judges. The previously known top 3 composed of Lee DeWyze, Crystal Bowersox and Casey James is now cut to top 2. The three faced the final elimination before the finale of season 9. Kara DioGuardi had a hunch that Crystal and Lee will face off in the finale, while Casey will be sent home. She was right! After the Wednesday’s results, Lee was the first singer declared by Ryan to be safe and without further delays; he also said that Crystal would be with him. At the end of the elimination night, it will be Crystal or Lee who are going to remain in the finals. Both contenders must give their best to be the next American Idol. Dancing with the Stars Bids Farewell to Niecy Nash

Somewhat predictably, Niecy Nash was eliminated from Dancing with the Stars on Tuesday after receiving the lowest scores from judges and viewers alike. Voted off Dancing with the Stars after the eighth week, th e How Clean is Your House host and actress on Reno 911 took the elimination well, and in stride. In her exit interview, she says she was proud to make it this far as a 40-year-old mom of three against some of the great dancers remaining on the stage. Tom, admitting he’s a fan, complimented her on achieving moments of elegance with partner Louis Van Amstel, of which there were surprisingly many. Her last request? That the band play something so that everyone can “get krunk.” That’s why Niecy Nash is awesome, and how you go out in style. Niecy Nash and Louis Van Amstel dance farewell. Chad Ochocinco and Cheryl Burke joined Niecy and Louis in the bottom two for the first time, which was fitting, given the two couples’ lower Monday scores. Whether he can skate by into the final three is another story. Nicole Scherzinger and Derek Hough performed an encore of their perfect Paso Doble from the other night, which Tom deemed the best in the show’s history. ‘American Idol’ Fans Split On Siobhan Magnus Elimination

Some say it was Siobhan’s time to go, others are outraged. By MTV News Staff Siobhan Magnus Photo: FOX Randy Jackson loved her “punk-country” look and Kara DioGuardi declared, “Guess who’s back? Siobhan!” But this week, “American Idol” voters seemed to side with Simon Cowell when he said of Siobhan Magnus’ performance, “I think the screaming at the end may have gone a little bit — it was almost like you were giving birth up there.” And so the 20-year-old Cape Cod resident is the latest “Idol” hopeful to get the boot — to the surprise of “Idol” experts MTV News spoke with on Thursday (April 29). As expected, fans are split on the decision, with some arguing it was Siobhan’s time to go and others declaring the elimination to be a disgrace. “Siobhan was the most interesting and entertaining of the singers, and man, can she sing!” wrote MTV News reader Violet. “If you have a good ear and any experience singing, you would hear that she hits every high note dead on. That’s not a screech. She has an incredibly wide range and just maybe needed some more positive comments from the judges?” Not so, contends reader Eric. “Siobhan has a wee bit too much ‘screech’ in her voice,” he wrote. “She needs more experience. But ultimately she’ll [get] there if she doesn’t lose interest.” According to reader Peggy Sue, Siobhan’s problem was simply a matter of failing to pick the songs that fit her vocal strengths. “Siobhan was signing from her throat, not the right place, so when she sang softly with lower notes it sounded weird,” she wrote. “That’s why she sounded so good on ‘Think’ — it forced her to get out of her throat. I agree that she sounded stupendous on those kinds of songs, she should have stuck to them. But instead she sang a lot of slower ballads that sounded unpleasant.” While there’s no agreement about the justice of Siobhan’s ouster, there are a range of opinions about the contestant who really deserves to go home. Some feel Lee Dewyze has been over-praised by the judges, while a few have tapped Casey James as the most deserving bootee. “I do not understand what Americans see in Casey James,” writes Luckybarbe. “Just listen to his voice, OMG it’s not that good, it’s sort of annoying. I think women are looking at his looks more than listening to the way he sounds.” Do you think it was Siobhan’s time to leave ‘American Idol’? Let us know in the comments below! Kate Gosselin: Eliminated, Alone, Mocked By Kids

Kate Gosselin was emotional after being voted off Dancing with the Stars . She’s also upset that no man will ever love her, her own children tease her, DWTS co-stars dubbed her”Hate Gosselin” and strangers slash her tires. It’s worth noting that the amusing last four Kate fun facts are courtesy of the new issue of In Touch Weekly , and therefore are likely completely bogus. Well, maybe not the Hate Gosselin moniker. We can see that. As sad as she is about leaving, and about life, however, she says the kids are worse. Though she claims she is okay leaving, her eight children “will be upset, definitely,” she said. “They will be shattered, in fact.” What total bull$h!t . Kate claims her elimination “crushed” her kids. Someone needs to crush her. She said she’s not “letting them watch” her elimination, so “they’ll be OK. They’ll be glad to have me back, but won’t get to see me dance anymore. It’s tough.” Also tough? Dying alone and getting teased by your own kids when your dancing sucks. Gotta be brutal. Here’s “Hate” receiving the final verdict last night … Kate Gosselin Eliminated Are you sad Kate Gosselin was eliminated?

‘Dancing With The Stars’ Kicks Aiden Turner To The Curb

Kate Gosselin saved from elimination despite another low-scoring night. By Kelley L. Carter Edyta Sliwinska and Aiden Turner Photo: ABC “Dancing With The Stars” will be a little less hunky, not that Aiden Turner, the British “All My Children” soap stud, was eliminated Tuesday night. “Each week I came out here, I gave it my all and I got less nervous dancing in front of an audience, and last night I had the best time,” Turner said after his elimination. Joining him in the bottom three were comedienne Niecy Nash and reality-TV mom Kate Gosselin, the latter of whom managed to survive another week in spite of being Monday night’s lowest scorer. The first two safe couples of the night were Chad Ochocinco and partner Cheryl Burke, and “Bachelor” star Jake Pavelka and partner Chelsie Hightower. Before they knew if they were safe, Pamela Anderson and partner Damian Whitewood, were asked to repeat Monday’s rumba, the dance with which she wanted show the judges that she could be a refined dancer, not just sexy. To draw out the suspense, the show aired clips of mock movie trailers, which helped promote next week’s theme of “Movie Night.” “Ten seasons, first time I’m actually speechless,” host Tom Bergeron joked after airing a trailer that featured a partner dance play on “Rambo.” Tuesday night’s guest performances were diverse. Chart-topping artist Sade performed her latest single, “Babyfather,” and an old favorite “Sweetest Taboo.” Nuttin’ But Stringz, the violin-playing brothers Damien and Tourie Escobar added some hip-hop flavor to the show, delivering a high-energy string set layered over traditional hip-hop break beats, while dancers from the New York City ballet performed in front of them. And then montages of grainy video and old school photos of the show’s professional dancers were shown, followed by performances by younger dancers who represent the future of ballroom. Backstage, after being saved, Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger talked about why she cried at the conclusion of Monday night’s show. “I was upset about my performance,” she said. “I was upset because I let my nerves get the best of me. I was just really frustrated with myself.” Related Photos The 2010 Cast Of ‘Dancing With The Stars’

Jermaine Sellers Says He Appeared ‘Diva-Ish’ On ‘American Idol’

‘Sometimes, the camera can make you look more arrogant,’ castoff says of his comments to the judges. By Katie Byrne Jermaine Sellers Photo: Frank Micelotta/ Getty Images Jermaine Sellers got some pretty harsh feedback from the “American Idol” judges for his semifinal performances, but said he was convinced that his faith would carry him through the negativity. His dream came to an end, however, on Thursday, when he was voted out of the competition , along with John Park, Haeley Vaughn and Michelle Delamor. “In God, there’s no failure,” the 27-year-old said after his elimination. So what’s next for the Joliet, Illinois, church boy? We caught up with him Friday (March 5) to discuss that and much more. Q : You were very outspoken about your faith on the show. Do you think your post-singing comments had anything to do with your elimination? A : Though I hate to say it, yeah, I do. Because sometimes, the camera can make you look more arrogant and diva-ish. Anybody that knows me knows I’m, like, the coolest guy. I like to make people laugh. I honestly do wear a onesie to bed, the whole nine yards. I hate it that I was made out to look like something that I’m not, but it’s television. I felt like every night that I went out there, I sang from my heart. And the part that really messed me up the most was that I couldn’t focus, because I was so scared about what was going to be said this week as far as me singing so much. I just felt like, the best way to prove a person wrong is by fighting them with God, letting God fight your battles. That’s why I kept throwing it out there. A lot of people don’t realize that with us making it this far in the competition, we haven’t really sat down and took time to thank God for us even making it this far. And without him, we’ll fail. That’s why I kept having to throw him out there. We don’t acknowledge him enough. Q : The judges obviously liked you enough to put you in the top 24, but then they tore you apart once the semifinals started. How did you take their sudden criticism? A : I took it the best way that I possibly could. The thing about it is, as an artist, you have to stay true to yourself. And with you staying true to yourself, it’s a certain way I sang my entire life, from a child on up. I kept pulling back. I pulled back a lot, because there was a lot more that I could have done. I felt like if I pulled any more back, it would be like I’m basically whispering to them. I’m a church singer. Q : What was your favorite part about making it so far on “American Idol”? A : Making it to top 20, it’s a blessing. That’s the best experience about it, just getting on that platform and being able to, not just sing to people, but to minister to them too. People don’t realize that the reason I sang songs like Oleta Adams [“Get Here”] and Marvin Gaye’s “What’s Going On?” — half of the reason I did “What’s Going On” was because I felt like we’re not paying attention to what’s going on as far as Haiti, as far as Chile. We’re not paying attention to it. We’re spending time focusing on other stuff when we should be focusing on what’s actually going on in the world right now. Q : If you could go back, would you change your song selections because of the judges’ comments? A : “American Idol” is for teenyboppers. There’s a lot of young people and they want to hear more current stuff. They want to hear the Keri Hilson stuff, “Knocks You Down” type stuff. And that’s not where my soul is. I’m more of “Let’s talk about reality. Let’s talk about what’s going on right now.” When I sang “Get Here,” I wasn’t just talking about one specific individual; I was talking about peace. I was talking about love, respect, joy. I want all of that to come back to us. Even though I tried to deliver it the best way that I could, I never got my point across because I let fear conquer me. Were you sad to see Jermaine go? Do you think his outspoken nature was his “Idol” downfall? Let us know below!
