Rielle Hunter’s new tell-all What Really Happened: John Edwards, Our Daughter, and Me contains many seedy revelations, but this one may take the cake. Elizabeth Edwards kept a photo of John Edwards and Rielle as her screensaver to not-so-subtly torment her cheating husband, Hunter claims in her book. In a book excerpt printed in People , Hunter, who bashes Elizabeth Edwards repeatedly, described how the cancer-stricken wife first reacted to their affair: “Elizabeth requested all the tapes (I’d made of the campaign, as a videographer). On one tape she saw Johnny walking into a room and his reaction to seeing me.” “She apparently told him that he never once looked at her the way he looked at me. So she took that bit and put it on her computer as a screen saver.” “The poor woman thought she was tormenting her cheating husband, using the image as a painful reminder of his foolish, political career-killing indiscretion.” “But in an attempt to punish John, Elizabeth was ultimately just tormenting herself.” If one can be tormented in the afterlife by events here on Earth, she likely is by Hunter and her book. Especially this excerpt near the end: “I’m still in love with John. That didn’t go away, shockingly enough. Marriage? I have no idea. I’m not a big fan of the institution, but never say never.” Except that Rielle Hunter and John Edwards just broke up. Oh well.

Tim Burton’s Frankenweenie may have to wait until early October before it hits screens, but movie fans will have a chance to get an early look at images from the stop-motion animated feature during an exhibition tour beginning next week in Barcelona, Spain that continues on to seven countries including the U.S. Frankenweenie revolves around a boy and his dog, Sparky. After his dog is lost unexpectedly, he conducts a science experiment to bring him back to life, but then faces monstrous consequences. The exhibition, which will feature original sketches drawn by Burton in addition to displays of props, pets and puppets, will head to the U.S. in time for Comic-Con in San Diego (July 11 – 15). Other countries on tap for the Frankenweenie show include France, England, Japan, Mexico and Canada, courtesy of Walt Disney Studios which will release the film in the fall. Martin Landau, Martin Short, Robert Capron, Winona Ryder and Conchata Ferrell star in the film directed by Burton who co-wrote with John August. This is not the first time Tim Burton’s creations have made “live appearances” outside the theater for the public. In 2009 the filmmaker had a major retrospective of his creations ranging from Edward Scissorhands to Sweeney Todd , among others, that included hundreds of paintings, drawings, storyboards, puppets and other work surveying his over one-dozen films. The popular exhibit opened at New York’s Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) and eventually traveled to locations throughout the world. [Source: International Business Times ]
Wes Anderson ‘s nostalgic kid romance Moonrise Kingdom is on its way to wide release later this month (June 29), when even more folks will have the chance to fall in love with the tale of New England youngsters Sam (Jared Gilman) and Suzy (Kara Hayward). As a special treat, Focus Features has released an utterly charming supplemental short — introduced by Bob Balaban as the island of New Penzance’s narrator/cartographer and, as it turns out, local librarian — in which the six young adult fantasy books glimpsed in the film come to life via Hayward’s narration and some magical animation. In Moonrise , star-crossed tween lovers Sam and Suzy pact to run away together, sending the entire island into a tizzy. The soulmates’ plan for escape is as practical as it is impractical; they’ve packed camping gear and kitten food, but Suzy’s suitcase is filled with library books. And what books! Shelly and the Secret Universe , The Francine Odysseys , The Girl from Jupiter , Disappearance of the 6th Grade , The Light of Seven Matchsticks , The Return of Auntie Lorraine … Anderson commissioned different artists to design each novel, a small but potent detail that goes a long way in capturing that elusive sense of childhood wonderment, at least for this childhood sci-fi/fantasy book nerd.
The Prometheus post-mortem continues (really, the fact that it’s still provoking discourse says something… right?) with screenwriter Damon Lindelof talking end-of-movie spoilers with TIME Magazine. Namely, what does it mean that you-know-who does you-know-what with the whatsit at the end? Kidding! Dive in to hear the LOST veteran address the certain future of our heroes, plus: An infographic that breaks down Prometheus ‘s DNA in one handy chart. Spoilers throughout! First up, TIME talks with Lindelof about the smoke monster. I mean the android, David (Michael Fassbender), who pulls some seriously heinous moves in Prometheus at the behest of one master, only to seemingly switch allegiances at the end. Can Shaw (Noomi Rapace) trust David’s head to direct her where she wants to go, i.e. the space beyond space, from whence the Engineers of doom hail? Lindelof says yes, because David has a robot crush on her . I think they’re going where she wants to go. His fundamental programming has been scrapped. Weyland [the man who built and programmed him] is dead and so now his programming is coming from God knows where. Is he being programmed by Elizabeth, or is it his own internal curiosity now that Weyland isn’t telling him what to do any more? He’s always been interested in Elizabeth, remember that: He’s watching her dreams when she’s sleeping in much the same way that he watches Lawrence of Arabia . He’s a strange robot that has a curious crush on a human being , and when Weyland is eliminated, I think he is genuinely interested in what she’s interested in. He reaches out partly for survival, but partly out of curiosity, and I think he’s sincere that he’ll take her wherever she wants to go. Right. Well, interspecies relations have taken stranger routes in the Alien universe. Speaking of which, artist Carlos Poon whipped up a handy infographic (via the folks at Dangerous Minds ) to help your brain keep track of the origins of species in Prometheus . Alright gang, mysteries solved! Right? RIIIIGHT?? [ TIME , Dangerous Minds ]
‘I hope to give her fans something to treasure,’ Cissy Houston says about her book on Whitney. By Gil Kaufman Cissy Houston and Whitney Houston Photo: Getty Images Whitney Houston’s mother, gospel great Cissy Houston, is prepping a memoir on her famous daughter that promises to tell the “unabridged and unbelievable” story of Whitney’s career. According to the The Associated Press , the as-yet untitled book is scheduled to come out in February, one year after the Grammy-winning singer died of accidental drowning in her Beverly Hills hotel bathtub on the eve of the Grammys at age 48. “When I lost my daughter Nippy (Whitney Houston’s nickname), the world lost one of the most beautiful voices and an extraordinarily beautiful and charitable woman,” Cissy Houston said in a statement released by the book’s publisher. “In sharing our story in this book, I hope to give her fans something to treasure, the way we all treasured Whitney. We are still receiving thousands of letters each day from her fans, and I hope reading this book will provide a deeper understanding into my daughter’s true story.” Publisher HarperCollins promised that Cissy Houston would write with “candor honesty and respect,” in chronicling her daughter’s career heights, as well as Whitney’s legendary drug problems, tumultuous marriage to singer Bobby Brown and her own grief. “She will tell the unabridged and unbelievable story of her daughter’s life as well as her own, addressing Whitney’s brightest and darkest moments while helping fans around the world understand the complexities of this extraordinary star who died much too soon,” the publisher said. A portion of the proceeds from the sales of the book will be donated to Newark, New Jersey’s New Hope Baptist Church, the house of worship where Whitney grew up singing in the choir, as well as the church where her funeral was held. “Ultimately, Cissy will go behind the headlines to show the true, human side of this strong, successful yet complicated musical icon, capturing the dramatic depths and soaring range of an extraordinary woman, along with the pain and heartbreak of a grieving mother as she struggles with impossible loss,” according to the publisher. Before Houston’s book hits shelves, a documentary focusing on the 48 hours leading up to this year’s Grammy Awards will premiere on June 11 at the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. The 26-minute movie will look at how the show dealt with Houston’s death and include interviews with host LL Cool J, Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters, Bruce Springsteen and Jennifer Hudson. Actress is photographed on the set of the Elizabeth Taylor biopic with her co-star Grant Bowler. By Jocelyn Vena Lindsay Lohan as Liz Taylor in ‘Liz & Dick’ Photo: Richard McClaren/Lifetime Lindsay Lohan certainly looks happy getting her Elizabeth Taylor on in a new still from her biopic, “Liz & Dick.” She’s all done up like the Hollywood legend in the first official photo from the film, complete with a black bob, smoky eye makeup and lipstick. The black-and-white still also features her Richard Burton, “True Blood” actor Grant Bowler, kissing the smiling actress’ neck. E! News reports that the photo was shot on May 29 at Lifetime Studios. The source added that they released the photo in black and white because they wanted to give it a “classic” look. In addition to the official first look, there have been several paparazzi shots of Lohan on set that have hit the Internet. On Monday, a photo of Lohan wearing a leopard-print bathing suit and sunglasses while hanging out a boat was released on People.com . That same day, another photo of the star channeling Taylor hit TMZ . In it, she’s wearing an emerald green and ivory colored gown, smoking a cigarette. The site reports that Lohan isn’t wearing a wig in the film, but instead had her hair cut and colored to mimic the screen legend’s own signature look. On Tuesday, Lohan and Bowler were photographed on a boat in what appeared to be a heated scene, where he was physically tossing her about (resulting in a bit of a wardrobe malfunction for Lohan). The Daily Mail reports that the scene will re-create the couple’s splashy vacation in Naples in 1965. The story will focus on the steamy — and contentious — love affair between Taylor and Burton. The pair defined and redefined the rules for modern celebrity life as their torrid love affair often made the kind of the kind of headlines that would rival Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. “I have always admired and had enormous respect for Elizabeth Taylor,” Lohan said in the statement. “She was not only an incredible actress but an amazing woman as well. I am very honored to have been asked to play this role.” Do you think Lindsay Lohan will make a good Elizabeth Taylor? Leave your comment below! Related Artists Lindsay Lohan
