Eminem To Appear In Lipton Claymation Super Bowl Ad

Rapper is latest star to appear in Brisk beverage commercials. By Gil Kaufman Eminem Photo: John Shearer/ WireImage The Black Eyed Peas and Justin Bieber may have some additional superstar company on Sunday. Eminem will make an appearance during the Super Bowl in a commercial for Lipton Brisk Iced Tea, the New York Post reported on Monday (January 31). For a reported $1 million payday, Em will be remade into a claymation character in a commercial described by an unnamed insider as “very funny.” While it’s a rare promotional gig for the press-shy Detroit MC, he’s the latest star to appear in the series of stop-motion ads for the beverage, following previous spots starring metal icon Ozzy Osbourne — who is set to co-star with Bieber in a Super Bowl commercial for Best Buy — and go-to tattooed bad man actor Danny Trejo (“Machete”). Spokespersons for Eminem and Brisk parent company Unilever could not be reached for comment at press time about the ad, but it’s certainly expected to be a step up from the joke informercial he did last year to help launch Recovery. The Lipton commercial reportedly showcases a day in the life of Eminem. And after five years of reclusive behavior, Eminem appears poised to come out of his shell a bit more. He recently signed rapper Yelawolf and group Slaughterhouse to his Shady Records label . On the film front, he’s signed to star as a boxer in the drama “Southpaw” and is reportedly in talks to star as an ex-con in the movie “Random Acts of Violence.” Eminem’s also slated to perform at the Grammy Awards on February 13, where he’s got a leading 10 nominations, including the coveted Album of the Year for his comeback effort, Recovery. The rapper appears in a touching 30-second spot that promotes the awards show and showcases his legacy , from the loss of friend and fellow MC Proof to his struggles through drug dependency and his rise back to the top of the hip-hop game. 50 Cent Says Dr. Dre’s ‘Track Record’ Makes Detox Highly Anticipated

‘I love them as a group,’ songbird says of dream collaboration. By Mawuse Ziegbe Keyshia Cole Photo: Taylor Hill/FilmMagic If everything were up to Keyshia Cole, she would rock out on her next collaboration. The R&B songbird recently said in an interview for music-video website Vevo’s “Ask: Reply” series that her dream team-up would be with Canadian rock crew Nickelback. “I think that I would say for my dream collaboration, it would have to be Nickelback,” the Calling All Hearts crooner said. Cole also added that if she were to hit the studio with the rockers, she would try to craft a collabo that seamlessly combines their musical sensibilities.”I love them as a group. I truly do, and I would love, love, love, absolutely love to do a song that is very heartfelt and alternative and R&B somehow in the same light.” For Cole, who has landed in the booth with stars like Diddy and called her Kanye West-helmed debut, “I Changed My Mind,” one of her favorite musical hook-ups, Nickelback is just the latest ideal feature for the California songstress. Cole told MTV News last year that she would also love to join forces with one of Detroit’s finest. “Me and Eminem doing a collaboration?” Cole wondered aloud on the set of the visual for her Nicki Minaj collabo “I Ain’t Thru.” “I just think he made the hardest comeback for 2010, and I support him all the way, and he’s just dope, he’s just dope,” Even if a Shady or Nickelback-assisted track doesn’t pan out, Cole already as some “dope” match-ups in her arsenal. The A Different Me singer broke down how her Minaj collabo went down, and lavished props on the Young Money diva. “It was dope [in the studio]. She’s very, very professional. She sat in the corner and wrote her part and then actually she wrote two raps to the song,” Cole confided. “She actually did one verse and was like, ‘Keyshia, I think I can do so much better.’ And I was like, ‘Absolutely not — it’s dope and leave it the way it is.’ And then I saw her again and she was like, ‘Please, just let me do my thing,’ and I was like, ‘absolutely,’ ’cause I understand where she comes from.” What do you think a Keyshia Cole/Nickelback track would sound like? Are The Arcade Fire Prepping A New Album?

Rep for the band calls a listing in the U.K.’s Music Week ‘just a rumor.’ By James Montgomery Arcade Fire’s Win Butler Photo: Scott Legato/ FilmMagic In the current issue of U.K. trade mag Music Week, between listings for All Time Low’s Dirty Work album and Asa’s Beautiful Imperfection, there exists a line that reads, simply: “Arcade Fire ‘TBC.’ ” It’s not exactly clear what it’s referring to, but that hardly matters to the band’s fans. Given that it’s published alongside other upcoming albums, they’ve taken it to mean just one thing: Sometime this year, the Arcade Fire are putting out an album. But will it be an entirely new album? A live disc? A collection of outtakes from their Grammy-nominated, chart-topping The Suburbs ? Well, as it turns out, none of that may even matter. Because according to a rep for the band, at the moment, all that talk is speculative, at best. “[It’s] just a rumor,” the spokesperson wrote in an e-mail to MTV News. “Nothing [is] confirmed yet.” A rep for Music Week could not be reached for comment about the listing. So while there’s nothing to report about a new album (at least not yet), Arcade Fire fanatics aren’t exactly hurting for headlines these days. Earlier this week, the band were announced as headliners at both the upcoming Coachella and New Orleans Jazz & Heritage festivals, and they’re also on tap to perform at the 53rd annual Grammy Awards on February 13, alongside Eminem, Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber. They’ll also head into the show up for three awards, including Album of the Year. Are you hoping the Arcade Fire already have a new album on the way? Let us know in the comments! Dr. Dre’s Detox Not Due April 20, Rep Says

A rep for rapper/producer says viral video isn’t referring to long-awaited album’s release date. By Jayson Rodriguez Dr. Dre Photo: Johnny Nunez/ WireImage After a video went viral of Dr. Dre seemingly announcing an April 20 release date for his long-awaited Detox, a rep for the rapper/producer told MTV News that the clip wasn’t referring to the album’s arrival. So what was the legendary producer referring to in the clip? That remains unclear at press time. Dr. Dre has been at work on his highly anticipated LP for years now, scraping together several versions of the songs at various times; in one case, he gave several beats slated for his project to 50 Cent for the G-Unit superstar’s debut album. In November, Dre’s first single, “Kush,” hit the Web and was soon followed by a potential follow-up, the Eminem-assisted “I Need a Doctor.” A month later, Dre premiered the video for “Kush” featuring Snoop Dogg and Akon. The clip, along with a cover story in the latest issue of hip-hop magazine XXL, seemed to confirm that the rap Chinese Democracy was finally slated for release. The producer’s penchant for perfectionism has long been the reason for the delay of Detox, which will be Dre’s first album since his 2001 LP in 1999. “[I’m] trying to put it out by the end of the fall,” Dre said in an interview this past summer about Detox. “Trying to give everybody what they’ve been waitin’ for and make sure they’re not disappointed; that’s all I’m doing.” What do you think Dre was referring to in the viral video? Formichetti told WWD that Gaga will serve as musical director for one of the most anticipated debuts of Men’s Fashion Week, which runs through January 23. The awards for Best Electronic/Dance Album ( The Fame ) and Best Dance Recording (“Poker Face”), immediately took up residence in an important space in the singer’s home. “Look what just arrived from last year!” she wrote. “My dad put them on the piano I studied on for 14yrs.” The 24-year-old singer is up for six Grammys at next month’s awards show, which will air on February 13, the same day she is set to release the first single from her new album.
