Teen Mom Cover-Up: Gary Shirley Tells Girlfriend to Stay Mum on Amber Portwood Whomping

Yesterday we played a video of Amber Portwood’s baby daddy, Gary Shirley , laughing at and antagonizing the volatile, troubled Teen Mom star. Often seen as the victim of her attacks, this cast Gary in a different light. Now, the audio below poses additional questions about Gary’s role. On December 15, Shirley desperately tried to get his other chick, a frequent target of Amber’s threats , to cover up yet another beatdown. Gary admits that Amber “f**king hit me” and can clearly be heard telling his girl how to stonewall reporters who got wind of the altercation. In return for Ashley’s silence, Gary says, “Maybe one day we can start a family.” Isn’t that the mentality that

Laura Govan Accuses Gilbert Arenas of Family Abandonment

When NBA star Gilbert Arenas was traded to the Orlando Magic this month, he didn’t just leave behind the Washington Wizards. He also abandoned his pregnant girlfriend and three children. A publicist for Laura Govan tells The Washington Post that the guard’s baby mama “has not heard from Arenas the whole month of December.” He reportedly left his family “with no money to purchase food or Christmas gifts.” Arenas actually seemed to acknowledge his irresponsible behavior, telling the newspaper soon after the trade: “I went to the airport and left. I didn’t have a chance to say bye to anybody. I didn’t even say bye to the kids.” Govan – who is the sister of Basketball Wives star Gloria Govan – and Arenas have had a rocky nine-year relationship. They’ve broken up numerous times, she’s been accused of having an affair with Shaquille O’Neal and she’s currently knocked up with her and Gilbert’s fourth child. Overall, we know Arenas likes to call himself as Agent Zero, but we always thought that was a reference to his uniform number. Not his number of morals.

THG Presents: The Year in Videos

What a wild year it’s been. From hit songs to LOL moments, meltdowns and bombshell scandals, some videos won’t be forgotten anytime soon. As 2010 draws to a close tonight, here are some of the videos that defined the year in Hollywood news, entertainment and celebrity gossip … Tiger Woods Apology Speech Tiger Woods apologizes : In the wake of his shocking sex scandal, Tiger came clean with a marathon, extremely stiff media mea culpa. Mel Gibson Tape #4: I’ll Burn The House Down! I’ll burn the house down! The Mel Gibson tapes made for one of ’10’s most remarkable stories. Here’s one of his most remarkable rants. Eminem – Love the Way You Lie (feat Rihanna) Eminem returns : With Rihanna on the chorus, the rapper’s single about domestic abuse struck a harrowing note and was an instant hit. Justin Bieber – U Smile U Smile, he melts UR heart : Any Justin Bieber video is likely to elicit squealing amongst the masses. This one perhaps more than most. Willow Smith Whip My Hair Music Video Whip your hair back and forth : With her first hit, Willow Smith lived up to the hype as the next Michael Jackson. Okay, maybe not yet. Sarah Palin Shoots Caribou Caribou killer : Anything Sarah Palin does makes news and gets people riled up, but this reality show caribou kill took it to a new level. Brett Favre Messages to Jenn Sterger Sext machine : Brett Favre sent some images of his junk to Jenn Sterger . He also hollered at her repeatedly, which you can listen to here. Hold My Hand Full Video: Akon & Michael Jackson From beyond the grave : Michael Jackson teamed up with Akon on “Hold My Hand.” Akon also recently collaborated with Lonely Island . Kanye West Insane Concert Rant in NYC Kanye goes nuts : As crazy videos go, take your pick with Kanye West. We particularly liked this lengthy live rant (about previous rants). Rex Ryan’s Wife Michelle in a Foot Fetish Video Foot fetish : Those words alone make one cringe, but this video featuring N.Y. Jets coach Rex Ryan’s wife was pretty vanilla. Odd, though. Miley Cyrus Bong Video Puff all night long : Saving the best for last, nothing sparked outcry quite like the Miley Cyrus bong video . It was just salvia, okay?! God.

Eminem, Jay-Z Track ‘Syllables’ Leaks Online

The dated tune, titled ‘Syllables,’ also features Dr. Dre, 50 Cent, Stat Quo and Cashis. By Jayson Rodriguez Eminem and Jay-Z Photo: Kevin Mazur/ WireImage Leave it to the last two Hottest MCs winner, Eminem and Jay-Z, to lament the lost art of lyricism in hip-hop. The two top-notch rappers — along with Dr. Dre, 50 Cent, Stat Quo and Cashis — spit about catchy choruses and gimmicks taking over the game on “Syllables.” The track is a buried studio gem from old recording sessions that made its way online on Tuesday night. “If we got to dumb down our style and A-B-C it, then so be it,” Em raps over slow piano stabs. “‘Cause nowadays, these kids, geez/ Don’t give a sh– about lyrics, all they want to hear is a beat and that’s it/ Long as they can go to the club and get blitz, pick up some chicks and get some digits. “We don’t know a word to the verse, we only know the chorus,” he adds later. “‘Cause the chorus repeats the same four words for us.” It’s unclear when the song was recorded, although Cashis confirmed that the number was dated via a Twitter post . “I recorded it a while ago but it just came out today,” wrote the rapper. “Timing is everything.” The tune likely dates back to when Cashis was a newcomer on Shady Records (he and Stat Quo, an Aftermath signee, have since left the respective labels). Meanwhile, a track called “Topless” featuring Eminem and Nas also hit the Net on Tuesday night. A previous version of the song with Nas and T.I. has been circulating online for some time. Em and Tip both rap in cadences similar to Dr. Dre, a sign that their vocals are references for the producer. Related Artists Eminem Jay-Z

Permanent Regrets: 10 Incredibly Dumb Celebrity Tattoos

The cool thing about being a celebrity is the fact that you don’t have to actually get a job, which you don’t have to look decent for an interview, which also means dumb tattoos are acceptable. Many celebs have clearly taken advantage of this fact by inking their bodies with tats that the rest of us wouldn’t be caught dead with. These 10 ink jobs, though, are dumb even for celeb standards.

‘B.M.F’ To T.I.: The Top 10 Hip-Hop Stories Of 2010

Take a look back at what happened to Lil Wayne, Guru, Nicki Minaj and other rap stars in the past 12 months. By Jayson Rodriguez Lil Wayne Photo: John Parra/ WireImage In 2010, the biggest stories in hip-hop imbued the community with collective cheers (as new stars like Drake and Nicki Minaj began to break out) and sobs (as Guru passed and T.I. returned to prison). There were also stories we’ll probably still remember years from now, like when Eminem and Jay-Z joined forces in their hometown ballparks or when Weezy was freed from Rikers. Here, MTV News takes a look at the top 10 hip-hop stories of the year. “B.M.F.” Bawses Rick Ross’ industrial-strength anthem was hip-hop’s biggest street record of the year and transformed the Miami MC from punching bag to Teflon Don following his feud with 50 Cent. His textured voice delivered a series of massively catchy lines (“I think I’m Big Meech!”), while 2010’s breakout producer Lex Luger laced the track with a concrete-hard instrumental. “B.M.F. (Blowin’ Money Fast)” served as the soundtrack to the summer, and rappers like Lupe Fiasco (“Building Minds Faster”), Sheek Louch (“The Real New York”) and Jermaine Dupri (“I Think I’m Berry Gordy”) all took the beat for a spin. Drake Debuts Heading into 2010, the Toronto lyricist was still riding high from his breakout mixtape, 2009’s So Far Gone , and expectations were adding up like late charges. But the Lil Wayne prot

‘Little Fockers’ Director On Sequel

‘It’s funny because the end has kind of a setup for a sequel,’ Paul Weitz says. By Kara Warner, with reporting by Eric Ditzian Ben Stiller in “Little Fockers” Photo: Universal Studios/DW Studios As the “Fockers” franchise has been wont to do throughout its 10-year run, the third installment in the highly successful franchise, “Little Fockers,” brought in major box-office dollars once again during its opening weekend. This more than proves that it doesn’t matter that audiences had to wait six years between “Meet the Fockers” and the latest film: They like to see Robert DeNiro get silly with Ben Stiller. And Dustin Hoffman and Barbra Streisand, for that matter. Given the success of “Little Fockers,” the next question on inquiring minds is, “When are they shooting a sequel?” When we caught up with director Paul Weitz recently during the press tour for “Fockers,” we asked him what talk he’d heard about a potential fourth film. “There’s been none with me,” Weitz said, indicating that this directorial romp with the “Fockers” will be his one and only. “I would be the first in line to buy a ticket [to the fourth film],” he said. But even though it sounds like Weitz won’t be involved in moving the Fockers forward, he had a pretty good idea of why people think there might be one planned. “It’s funny because the end has kind of a setup for a sequel [minor spoiler alert ahead!], where they say ‘We’re buying the house two doors down’ ” Weitz said. “Which was really a last-second thought by [screenwriter] John Hamburg. It wasn’t sort of a calculated ‘Alright, what’s the sequel going to be,’ ” he explained. “But it does seem like a good setup for a sequel!” Would you like to see another “Fockers” film? Tell us in the comments. Check out everything we’ve got on “Little Fockers.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com .

Eminem Ruled 2010 — And Here’s How

Rapper rose from ashes of disappointing album to top of the charts and 10 Grammy nominations. By Gil Kaufman Eminem Photo: Kevin Mazur/ WireImage It’s fitting that Eminem is planning to return to the big screen next year in the “8 Mile”-inspired boxing film “Southpaw.” Because like Rocky after he was counted down and out so many times in that famous pugilist movie serial, Marshall Mathers seemed like he’d run out of gas in 2009 only to come storming all the way back, and then some, in 2010 to post one of his biggest and baddest years to date. At a time when younger artists like Justin Bieber, Kanye West and Lady Gaga are relying on social media, a dizzying blitz of promotional appearances and concerts, and a nonstop hype machine to keep their careers stoked, Eminem’s path back to the top of the musical heap was decidedly old-school: He released a great album in Recovery that emotionally connected with fans thanks to some of the most hook-heavy songs of his career while maintaining an elusive persona that kept them guessing. “On Recovery, he was really able to tap into the emotive 2002 stuff that people loved in ‘8 Mile,’ ” said Complex Editor in Chief Noah Callahan-Bever. “And I think that the fact that he’s not tech-savvy or any of that stuff really doesn’t hurt him because he’s able to cultivate a little bit of a mystery about himself and his comings and goings. That exclusivity creates more value to his limited presence.” While songs like mega first single “Not Afraid” and the inescapable Rihanna hookup “Love the Way You Lie” were getting wall-to-wall spins at radio, Em made only a few promotional appearances, played just a handful of dates — including the lauded Home and Home shows with Jay-Z — and managed to keep that air of inscrutability about himself while putting up the best sales figures for any album released in 2010. The less you saw of him, the more you wanted to see him. “I think it kind of benefited because [of] the whole backstory behind the album,” Julianne Escobedo Shepherd, former executive editor of The Fader, said about the drama surrounding Slim Shady’s second comeback attempt after five years in drug-induced exile and 2009’s so-so reception for Relapse. “And his comeback from a bad album … the whole thing with the pills, and I think it kind of lent to his mystery. There’s something to be said for rappers who have a trillion Twitter followers but at the same time you kind of don’t want to be able to say whatever you want to your favorite rapper. I think that he kind of kept his integrity in the way that he needed to as an older rapper.” Putting out a barrage of cameo verses has been the go-to move for up-and-comers like Drake and Nicki Minaj as a way to establish their brand. But Marshall borrowed that same new-school page and made it feel classic by being very selective about which songs he lent his voice to. And, almost without exception, every choice he made was an instant classic, from his killer verse on Drake’s “Forever” to a solid duet with Lil Wayne on “Drop the World,” some tasty bars on B.o.B’s “Airplanes” and a nod to the new kids on the block on Nicki’s “Roman’s Revenge.” Most of his peers seem to believe that more is more — more endorsements, more products, more interviews, more guests on their tracks — even as Em came off as the wily veteran who picks his high-percentage shots while the rest of the squad is firing off endless jumpers. “When Eminem went away, the feeling of like, ‘Well, that whole market’s going away. All those people, they’re just dispersing off into the ether and no one’s gonna be ready for him when he’s ready to come back,’ ” said New York Times music critic Jon Caramanica of the excitement that greeted the rapper’s return to form. “And what I think you realize this year is that all those people are like sleeper cells and all got activated. All of a sudden, ‘Oh, Eminem’s back. It’s OK to buy his CD again. I didn’t have anyone I feel like I wanted to buy for the last two or three years; now I feel like I can commit to Eminem.’ ” What also became clear this year, Caramanica said, is that unlike flash-in-the-pan pop rappers or mainstream acts whose audiences don’t grow with them as they mature, Eminem’s fans have been loyal, even as he’s picked up a whole new generation of followers thanks to his more accessible new songs. The evidence of that trend can be seen in the fact that, months after its release, Recovery was still routinely hanging around the top 20, if not top 10, on the Billboard albums chart, an indication that new fans were being brought onboard every week. That slow and steady, measured approach clearly paid off, as Em won two VMAs (off of eight nominations) in September and ended the year by loading up with a leading 10 Grammy nominations and a #2 spot on MTV News’ Man of the Year countdown. You can be sure when the Grammys are handed out in February, Marshall’s name will be mentioned a few times, because if there’s anything the Recording Academy (and, let’s face it, all of America) loves, it’s a comeback.
