Lil Wayne Leaves A Video Warning For Other MCs: ‘Y’all In Trouble’

Plus: Check out new behind-the-scenes photos of Weezy and Eminem from their ‘Drop the World’ shoot, in Mixtape Daily. By Shaheem Reid. with additional reporting by Rahman Dukes Lil Wayne Photo: Derrick G The O.D.: A Mixtape Daily Exclusive The fans on Twitter are writing “Free @liltunechi.” The fans on the street are screaming “Free Lil Wayne.” Any way you put it, the people miss one of rap’s most dynamic superstars. We haven’t sat down with Weezy yet for a new interview, but he left us some more footage of himself before heading to jail last month . In the clip, Wayne is recording songs for his No Ceilings mixtape, and even though the music was coming out great, he wasn’t 100 percent inspired. “It’s all right, but I really don’t feel it like that,” Wayne said, looking into the camera while shooting his “Nino Brown Story” DVD. Someone off camera jokingly yells “bullsh–.” “I swear to God,” Wayne insisted. “It’s all right. I’m telling you, rappers now, you better get it up while I’m not feeling it like that. Once I start feeling it like that, y’all in trouble. Right now, I’m rappin’ right now because y’all ain’t heard me in a minute. I don’t really feel it like that. But my artists though … psssh. They’ll eat you n—as’ lunch. We superstars. We don’t battle. We don’t want to be compared to nobody. I teach, I preach and I [lead by example]. Superstars. We breed superstars. I teach them how to be superstars first. You don’t wanna be a rapper, you don’t wanna be a singer, you wanna be a superstar. Therefore you don’t have to rap nor sing. You can do whatever, because you a superstar. It’s easier.” Wayne recently teamed with another superstar, Eminem. As you know, they filmed the video for “Drop the World” in February, and some new behind-the-scenes pictures have surfaced. Also, we got a sneak peek at a Wayne video directed by DJ Scoob Doo. They made a movie. Check back soon for more on that one. For other artists featured in Mixtape Daily, check out Mixtape Daily Headlines . Lil Wayne Parties In NYC, Records In Miami Before His Sentencing

Weezy is expected to be sentenced and turn himself in Monday in New York. By Shaheem Reid Lil Wayne (file) Photo: Kevin Mazur/ WireImage Lil Wayne headed back to Miami on Wednesday after an eventful few days in New York. Weezy was supposed to be sentenced on weapons charges Tuesday afternoon, but after a basement fire at the Manhattan Criminal Court building , his his court date was delayed . On Tuesday night, instead of spending time in his hotel room watching pay-per-view, Wayne made his way to Madison Square Garden , performing with Young Jeezy, Nicki Minaj and Drake during Jay-Z’s Blueprint 3 Tour. After the show, Weezy hit the studio before going out to party. New York Daily News reporters say they spotted him at the club 1Oak with his Young Money family and Trey Songz. On Wednesday night in Miami, Wayne was back in the studio until about 2:30 a.m. DJ Scoob Doo posted a TwitPic of Wayne, apparently in his Bugatti, driving by the studio. “@liltunechi & Bugatti Reunite 4 studio 2:30am,” Scoob tweeted . Scoob, who has been traveling with Wayne and shooting footage for the latest installment of their DVD series “The Nino Brown Story,” also posted a TwitPic of one of Wayne’s Grammy Awards. “@liltunechi & @djscoobdoo nino brown 3 on way,” Scoob wrote. “Carter 4 on repeat on Jet. I’ll give it several of these.” “The Nino Brown Story, Part 3” is coming soon; pick it up on Scoob’s Web site . Wayne’s video with Eminem for “Drop the World” will be premiering soon. Weezy also is featured in the brand-new video from one of the mothers of his children, Nivea; Wayne has a guest-starring role in the singer’s “Love Hurts” video. We don’t actually see his face until the very end of the video, but he is very recognizable as things get steamy between him and Nivea. She eventually moves out of their house in the video, however. Lil Wayne is now scheduled to be sentenced Monday in New York. Related Videos Lil Wayne’s ‘Road To Rikers’ Related Artists Lil Wayne

Lil Wayne And Eminem’s ‘Drop The World’: Check Out Preview!

Video premieres March 11 on MTV. By Jayson Rodriguez Lil Wayne in the “Drop the World” video Smashed TV sets, burning fires and pure chaos mark the proceedings for Lil Wayne ‘s “Drop The World’ music video featuring Eminem . An exclusive 30-second clip is available on MTV.com and the video is scheduled to premiere March 11 on MTV . Director Chris Robinson told MTV News recently that the visuals would be aggressive and feature a heavy amount of technology and in the preview, Robinson’s warning is apparent. Wayne is standing at the crossroads of an abandoned block and as he raps the song’s chorus — “I’m gonna pick the world up and drop it on your f—— head” — while an army of looters run back and forth, smashing items and making sure pandemonium ensues. Robinson described the shoot as “just energy” and raved about Eminem’s entrance. “You got two guys who are basically huge supernovas coming together, and the way that the song is constructed is great,” he said. “Because unless you see it coming, you don’t know Eminem is on the track. The first two hooks and the first two verses are all Wayne, and it’s kind of a surprise when Eminem comes through, and we matched it visually how Eminem enters the piece. From the concept and to just hearing the lyrics, with both of these amazing lyricists killing it, the whole video is just energy.” In the clip, a comet strikes the sky and seconds later Eminem appears among the debris. Wayne then joins Em as the two pose for cameras. “It hurts but I’ll never show/ ‘Cause pain you’ll never know/ If only you could see how lonely and how cold/ And frostbit I’ve become,” the Detroit MC kicks off the third verse, singing his flow. The collaboration is from Wayne’s rock-leaning effort Rebirth. Wayne had long sought out Shady to join forces with him on a record . They were both part of the all-star “Forever,” also featuring Kanye West and Drake, but fans clamored for just the two superstar lyricists to appear on a song together. However, it wasn’t until recently that Eminem was available, after working on his comeback album and battling his drug addiction. “There hasn’t really necessarily been a time for me to go to collaborate and sh– lately, because I been so locked down in the studio,” Eminem said. “But I’m open for whatever. There’s a lot of rappers in the game I respect, especially right now.” Related Videos Lil Wayne’s ‘Road To Rikers’ Related Photos Lil Wayne Heads To Rikers Island Related Artists Lil Wayne Eminem

Kanye West Commends Soulja Boy’s ‘Hard’ New Tracks

‘Out of all the artists to get the go-ahead or the co-sign from, it was Kanye,’ Soulja tells MTV News. By Jayson Rodriguez Soulja Boy Tell’em Photo: MTV News NEW YORK — Soulja Boy Tell’em has vowed to prove himself as an MC on his next album, The DeAndre Way. For the effort, the rapper has already said he wants Jay-Z and Eminem onboard . So far, he’s been in the studio with Kanye West , and Soulja said ‘Ye was impressed with his upgraded material. “When I was in the studio, I played him a couple of joints, and then he just said, ‘Damn, he’s really starting to go hard,’ ” Soulja Boy told MTV News on the red carpet of BET’s “Rip the Runway.” “And I was like, ‘Yeah, you feel me?’ … Out of all the artists to get the go-ahead or the co-sign from, it was Kanye.” Recently, Soulja Boy and West have been collaborating on material for ‘Ye’s next album. West requested the teen sensation to help produce tracks for him. Soulja Boy spoke to MTV News late last year, after he created three tracks “back-to-back-to-back” for West, and said the sessions were beneficial to both the musicians. “Me working with him, collaborating on different beats,” he said of working with West. “Him showing me a lot of stuff I didn’t know. Me showing him a lot of stuff he didn’t know. He had an ear for my sound. Of course I had an ear for all the stuff he did. Genius! Waka Flocka Flame ‘Ain’t Worried’ About Who Shot Him

MC says he isn’t concerned about self-proclaimed gunmen who posted photo of himself online with Waka’s stolen chain. By Shaheem Reid Waka Flocka Flame Photo: MTV News Last week, a man claiming to have shot Waka Flocka Flame last month in Atlanta sent his photo to KarenCivil.com, holding Flocka’s stolen diamond Brick Squad chain. Obviously, self-incrimination took a back seat to attaining two minutes of fame for the self-proclaimed assailant. Although he’s said the shooting was an attempt on his life , Flocka said he isn’t concerned with who the gunman might be. During a visit to New York on Tuesday (February 23), Flocka said he’s moving on from the shooting . “I don’t know [if it was actually the gunman] ’cause I didn’t even see who shot me,” Flocka responded sarcastically when asked about his thoughts on the photo. “I thought a dog shot me. I thought a bird shot me. It’s stupid.” Flocka was sporting a brand-new Brick Squad chain today. This one had green diamonds and looked a lot flashier than the one he lost. “This is round two,” he said about his new chain. “Round one is gonna pop up in my mailbox like, ‘Hey man — here.’ “I ain’t worried about you. I appreciate you too,” Flame addressed the gunman, looking directly into MTV News’ camera. “You got me sacked up real big. I got a stupid house off you, cars off you. I appreciate you, man.” When asked why he thought someone would incriminate himself further by putting a picture online, Flocka said he’s he doesn’t know or care. “That’s on them folks. Let them folks do they job,” he said. “It is what it is. Y’all done said enough. I did enough. What I’mma keep flippin the story? I don’t know, bruh. Let them live their life, I’mma live my life. That’s right there [behind me]. They sitting right there. They probably not even sitting this close. I’m giving them too much. I ain’t even worried about them. That’s so behind me right now.” Flocka’s “O Let’s Do It” and its official remix continue to be hot singles, and he said he’s going to let the streets pick his next single and isn’t too focused on making an album at the moment. He’s content with dropping mixtapes. Waka and Roscoe Dash (of “All The Way Turnt Up” fame) are releasing a street project of duets called Ten Toes Down. Waka also has two solo mixtapes, LeBron Flocka James 2 and Keith Waka Sweat. “For these girls,” he explained about why he’s putting out the latter. “I got too much girl fans — 70 percent of my shows be girls — so I gotta give them some music.” Since being released from the hospital earlier this month, Flocka Flame is just now feeling up to moving around. Besides his gunshot wounds, he had blood clots in his right leg and arm. “I feels good, bro. It feels real different,” he said about being mobile. “It feels like the old me died. I promise to God. I don’t even have a normal life no more. I’m learning this new lifestyle. I’m just eating what they feed me. In this business, this attitude and anger — you gotta throw that to the side. Your pride, you gotta tuck that in. You go with the flow. But you don’t bend over backwards for nobody. To each his own, you gotta really count your moves and what you say in this game.” Waka’s first show since the shooting was last week in St. Louis. “That thing was turnt up!” Flame boasted of the show. “I’mma keep it gangsta, I was nervous. I was like, ‘Are they gonna mess with me? They gonna throw bottles?’ But it was crazy. I jumped in the crowd, I walked around in the club. I was in the Lou, turnt up.” Related Artists Waka Flocka Flame

Lil Wayne And Eminem’s ‘Drop The World’ Video Is ‘Just Energy,’ Director Says

‘You got two guys who are basically huge supernovas coming together,’ Chris Robinson tells MTV News. By Jayson Rodriguez Lil Wayne and Eminem perform at the 2010 Grammy Awards Photo: Michael Caulfield/ WireImage Lil Wayne feverishly filmed a series of music videos in the weeks leading up to what he thought would be his last day of freedom two weeks ago, before dental surgery postponed his prison sentence . Director David Rousseau told MTV News that the Cash Money superstar recorded up to nine videos in one weekend, though most were in front of a green screen so his image could be added later to the finished clips. One video the rapper was on the set for, however, was his upcoming clip with Eminem for “Drop the World.” The collaboration between the two esteemed MCs is the next single from Wayne’s Rebirth album. The pair performed a snippet of the track at last month’s Grammy Awards . Chris Robinson directed the “Drop the World” video and told MTV News on Tuesday (February 23) that the shoot — featuring the two heavyweight MCs — was comparable to a movie set. “As a director, it’s how do you, more than anything, combine these two artists together and create something that’s special,” he explained. “Because when you have two artists together, it’s like, ‘Oh, they’ll stand next to each other [and that’s it].’ It’s very awkward sometimes to have two very big stars. How are you gonna cover that? Especially two artists that are so big. You can do that with a performance at the Grammys, because the spectacle is to watch them onstage and sit in the audience and look at it. But as an artistic piece to have some magic, or if it’s a mood piece or whatever way you communicate the music, you have to take two people into consideration with how you do that. And for me, I almost take it like a feature film: How did Scorsese put Jack Nicholson and Leonardo DiCaprio in the same movie?” The clip was filmed on the eve of the Grammys, Robinson said. It was a one-day shoot, and Wayne was on the set for upward of 14 hours. As of press time, no details regarding the premiere are available. The “Drop the World” video is still being edited, Robinson said. It’s likely the director will complete the final clip by the top of next week. Wayne is scheduled to begin his one-year jail sentence in New York on March 2 after undergoing eight root canals . Robinson wouldn’t reveal the premise of the video, but he promised the clip would match the song’s intensity. From the concept and to just hearing the lyrics, with both of these amazing lyricists killing it, the whole video is just energy.” Related Artists Lil Wayne Eminem

Eminem, Jay-Z To Headline Ireland’s Oxegen Festival

Black Eyed Peas, Vampire Weekend and John Mayer also set to perform at Ireland’s largest music festival. By Jayson Rodriguez Eminem and Jay-Z (file) Photo: Activision Eminem and Jay-Z will be among the marquee acts participating at the Oxegen 2010 music festival this summer in Ireland, it was announced on Tuesday (February 23). The multi-platinum rappers are the standouts on a bill that also includes the Black Eyed Peas , Vampire Weekend , Empire of the Sun , Muse and John Mayer . Em is scheduled to close out the multi-day fest, which takes place July 8 to July 11. The Detroit MC will rock the main stage and be joined by D-12 and a live band backing the performance. There are no details regarding Jay-Z’s set date or location as of press time. The annual spree is Ireland’s largest music festival . Oxegen was founded in 2004 and in the past has featured a range of artists including the Killers and R.E.M. Last year, Nine Inch Nails were among the headliners. In addition to Em and Jay, the 2010 line will include Muse, David Guetta, and DJ A-Trak. Recently, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones suggested Eminem and Jay-Z should headline a concert at the NFL magnate’s new stadium, which hosted the record-setting NBA All-Star game earlier this month. “Those are the kinds of stars or the kinds of individuals that people are so interested in seeing,” Jones told MTV News. “We’ve got a venue there that can show them and their skills and talent. We could put a crowd in there to watch them.” The “Renegade” collaborators, Em and Jay, have hooked up a few times already in the past year. They both consulted on the “DJ Hero” video game and later performed in Los Angeles during an event sponsored by the gaming company. The event featured one of the last performances by DJ AM. Sade On Drake Collabo: Thanks But No Thanks

‘I’ve never collaborated because I’ve always avoided working outside my safety zone,’ she says. By Hillary Crosley, with additional reporting by MTV News staff Drake Photo: MTV News Grammy-nominated rapper Drake has not only become a well-known star without releasing an actual album, he’s also already worked with music vets Mary J. Blige , Kanye West , Lil Wayne and Eminem . But one collaborator still eludes him. Drake named British singer Sade as one of the artists he hoped to work with on his forthcoming debut, Thank Me Later. ” Sade not only embodies a lot of class, her brand is so strong and she’s such an amazing woman, but the melody she chooses to use and her voice has that dark, sexy feel that a lot of So Far Gone has,” Drake told MTV News last month. ” ‘Lust for Life,’ the ‘Houstatlantavegas,’ ‘The Calm’ — those all remind me of ‘Sade moments.’ I’ll call them ‘Sade moments,’ where you hear it, it hits you, and you feel something. When Sade’s ‘King of Sorrow’ comes on, you feel it, consistently. So I just want to try to experiment and see if there’s a way to bring her into the hip-hop world. I’m kinda scared. I don’t want it to be that moment that everybody’s like, ‘Whoa, that shouldn’t have happened.’ So it’s really got to be calculated for the right moment. … Hopefully there will be a great Drake and Sade record for people to listen to, and hopefully it’ll be one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.” Sade, however, who recently released her 10th album, Soldier of Love, after a decade-long haitus, isn’t planning to take Drake up on his offer anytime soon. “I don’t think they have contacted me,” Sade, 51, told Canada’s National Post. “I’ve never collaborated because I’ve always avoided working outside my safety zone — I can be exactly who I am and can fail or succeed within the moment. I feel safe working like I do. I wouldn’t want to work in a situation where I am expected to deliver, because I think I wouldn’t deliver.” Drake’s Thank Me Later is now tentatively slated for a March release with appearances in the works from Andre 3000, Eminem and Jay-Z, among others. The Young Money MC will also headline 25 cities on his Away From Home Tour , beginning April 6, where he will be implementing an eco-friendly policy throughout the run. The tour will stop at 15 college campuses along the way, including Penn State, Michigan State and University of Central Florida. Related Artists Sade Drake

Tony Yayo Hopes Eminem Will Join G-Unit’s U.S. Tour

‘It would be an honor if Em came out,’ he tells Mixtape Daily. By Shaheem Reid Tony Yayo Photo: Rahman Dukes/MTV News The O.D.: A Mixtape Daily Exclusive In a couple of weeks, the G-Unit will be heading overseas for an international tour. Come June, the 50 Cent-captained team is scheduled to do something they haven’t done in quite some time: tour the United States. Although no dates or other acts have been announced for the bill, Tony Yayo is hoping at least Slim Shady will be on the road with them. “I’m not sure if Eminem is gonna be a part of the bill,” Yayo said recently in New York. “I know 50 wants to go out and do the U.S. tour. It would be an honor if Em came out. Shout to Em, the whole D12, everybody out there. “My best experience was [the] Anger Management [3 tour] with 50 and Eminem,” Yayo added. “They was killing each other on the tour, it was crazy. That was an ill tour. Em comes out, Fif comes out, D12, Proof was still alive — rest in peace to Proof . That’s one of the best hype men ever.” While Yayo was fantasizing out loud, he threw another name in the mix. “You know what? I would love to see Eminem, Dre and 50 do a big tour, so I could make millions of dollars,” he said. “I’ll be a stagehand and work in the back. I wouldn’t even care. I know I’ll make a million dollars lifting stuff. It’s an honor to be in their presence.” Obviously, it would be a huge undertaking to get all these guys on the road together, but Yayo and the fans can dream, can’t they? “With guys like Em and Dre and Fif, these guys got busy schedules,” the Queens native said. “Em is working on another album. Fif got about 15 movies; he’s working on another movie right now called ‘The Gun.’ Dre — come on, man, you see them Dr. Dre headphones selling like hot cakes everywhere you go. Those guys are busy guys. I feel blessed I could say that I know Eminem, Dr. Dre and 50 Cent. A lot of artists beg to do a song with Eminem, beg to do a song with 50 Cent, beg to do a song with Dre — I’ve experienced all those worlds.” Yayo said that his new album might be called Godfather of the Ghetto, and like Lloyd Banks’ next album, he wants to put it out this summer while the Unit are on tour. As for when 50 might release another LP, Tony said Fif isn’t focused on that right now. “50 is like a chameleon,” Yayo said. “What I seen from Fif, he’s in Will Smith mode; he’s shooting movie after movie. I know he’s definitely supporting me and Banks’ albums.” For other artists featured in Mixtape Daily, check out Mixtape Daily Headlines .
