He didn’t piss in an aisle . And he didn’t allege racism . But Billie Joe Armstrong was still kicked off a flight this week – and you won’t believe why. According to the Green Day singer, he was tossed off a Southwest flight from Oakland to Burbank because his pants were loose. Armstrong Tweeted today: “Just got kicked off a southwest flight because my pants sagged too low! What the f(asterisk)(asterisk)(asterisk)? No joke!” A producer from ABC was actually on board the flight, according to Fox News, and says Armstrong replied by asking the attendant if there weren’t “better things to do than worry about that?” But the employee persisted, told the artist he could be taken off the plane if he did not comply… and that’s exactly what happened! Southwest spokesman Brad Hawkins subsequently released a statement that confirmed an incident took place, but added Armstrong was permitted on the next flight to Burbank and told a customer relations agent that he had no other complaints. “As soon as we became aware of what had happened, we reached out to apologize for this Customer’s experience,” the statement read. “He elected to take the next flight. We followed up with this Customer and involved Employees to get more details and, in our latest conversations, understand from the Customer the situation was resolved to his satisfaction.”
“They seem very in love, very cute,” said an employee at the Maje boutique on rue Saintonge, where the couple spent more than 90 minutes together, kissing often as Watson modeled wares for Simmons. “She did her own shopping – she knows what she likes,” adds the employee. “She picked out outfits and he made some suggestions, picking out items which she tried on in the dressing cabin, then coming to model for him.” What#39;s the international sign for a man in love? Critics have mixed feelings about Hanks’ first directing effort in 15 years. By Eric Ditzian Julia Roberts and Tom Hanks in ‘Larry Crowne’ Photo: Universal Pictures Perhaps only the boom-boom-pow theatrics of “Transformers: Dark of the Moon,” which will be making most of the noise (and the box-office bucks) at the multiplex this weekend, could overshadow a new offering from Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts. Or possibly the mixed reviews for their comedy, “Larry Crowne,” are helping create a lower profile for the heavily marketed film. Hanks has taken on directing duties for only the second time in his career (his debut was the 1996 nostalgia trip “That Thing You Do!”) and recruited Roberts to join in the action. But the results have been met with outright disdain in some corners, with critics scoffing at a lack of laughs and a bland story line. Yet where others see a milquetoast comedy, many reviewers see a skilled director delivering a warm-hearted summer diversion. Read on for those “Larry Crowne” critiques and more. The Story “In ‘Larry Crowne,’ Hanks plays a nice guy who gets fired from his retail job because he lacks the education to qualify him for a management position. This happens despite his countless awards for Employee of the Month. Larry cashes in his possessions, trades his car for a scooter and decides to enroll in a local community college. As his economics teacher, he draws Dr. Matsutani (George Takei), the only character in the film interesting enough to have a movie made about him. As his public speaking teacher, he gets Mercedes Tainot (Julia Roberts), a character who seems to have drifted over from the auditions for ‘Bad Teacher.’ … I watched the movie with all the pleasure I bring to watching bread rise. Don’t get me wrong. I enjoy watching bread rise, but it lacks a certain degree of interest. You look forward to it being finished.” — Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times The Performances “The real reason to watch this modestly charming, featherweight bauble is the chemistry between Hanks and Roberts, beloved superstars who make a beautiful pair. ‘Larry Crowne’ is only their second movie together (after ‘Charlie Wilson’s War’), but Hanks’ noble everyman is an inspired match for Roberts, who plays her character’s bitter disappointment with a believable acidity.” — Rene Rodriguez, Miami Herald The Direction ” ‘Larry Crowne’ marks Tom Hanks’ first work as a director since his delightful ‘That Thing You Do!’ 15 years ago. And now, as then, the star demonstrates a generous instinct for calm, steady pacing and cleanly framed scenes that acknowledge every character’s place in the whole, whether in the classroom, on the streets, or in the working world: When, for example, Larry draws on his Navy skills to take a job as a short-order cook, Hanks the director observes the work of every diner employee with genuine interest. … It’s easy enough to accept the romantic-comedy luck of the two finding each another. It’s much tougher, and ultimately useless, to buy everything else about this fairy tale of self-reinvention in a stalled economy.” — Lisa Schwarzbaum, Entertainment Weekly The Laughs “The script by Mr. Hanks and Nia Vardalos (‘My Big Fat Greek Wedding’) is one of those wonders of the cinema: You wonder who thought any of this was funny. The fractious scenes between Mercedes and her stay-at-home husband (Bryan Cranston) are painful, although they do give Larry the opportunity to provide a romantic palliative. Larry’s adoption by a group of younger students — all of whom ride eco-friendly motor scooters — is cloyingly, comically clueless.” — John Anderson, The Wall Street Journal The Final Word “I don’t know how ‘Larry Crowne’ is going to do this summer, but I am surprised at the venom some people seem to have mustered towards it. I found it engaging, constantly warm and funny, and very direct in its ambitions. If you want a break from the barrage of spectacle that crams out theater screens every year at this time, ‘Larry Crowne” represents a lovely alternative, and I hope people give it a chance. I’d hate to see Hanks wait another fifteen years to direct again.” — Drew McWeeny, HitFix Check out everything we’ve got on “Larry Crowne.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com .
I was tempted to dig through the internet and find all kinds of naked pics of this Shera Bechard chick who is playing Hugh Hefner’s “Rebound”….but then I realized I’d just be giving Playboy free press on their stupid marketing campaign that kinda lost its appeal when dude turned 80 and the idea of him dating hookers who were or wanted to be in his magazine was pretty much obvious…and boring… I mean shit, the Playboy models are tacky, trashy, fake titty and all that shit….they look like strippers or hookers that you could marry if you had enough money….and this is all part of a campaign to get Playboy noticed and written about….that would be better if they used girls who didn’t look like hookers or strippers… Seriously. This is all efforts to get people talking…and people are talking as if it is a legitimate thing…and that’s just idiotic on all of your part…it’s an act, a lie, a story, not really his girlfriend but his employee pretending to be to make him money….and the whole thing pisses me off…THis isn’t impressive…. ‘He seemed like he was having a good time, hanging out with his friends,’ Pennsylvania bar employee tells MTV News. By Jocelyn Vena Ryan Dunn Photo: Dickhouse Productions As “Jackass” fans mourn the loss of Ryan Dunn, who died early Monday morning (June 20) in a car crash, new details about the accident that killed the MTV star are being released. MTV News can confirm that 34-year-old Dunn was hanging out with his friends at the bar Barnaby’s of America in West Chester, Pennsylvania, before he died. “Apparently, he was himself; he didn’t seem intoxicated. He seemed like he was having a good time, hanging out with his friends,” a Barnaby’s employee told MTV News on Monday afternoon. Dunn had tweeted a photo of himself, which has since been pulled, hanging out at the West Chester bar before he fatally crashed his car. The Barnaby’s worker further noted that Dunn “only had a couple beers here. As far as we’re concerned, the biggest thing, our hearts go out to the family and friends, and his loss is a big loss to our community. The biggest thing we’re worried about is his friends and family.” See photos of Ryan Dunn throughout his career. Dunn didn’t come to Barnaby’s to party, the employee said; he often just was there to catch up with his pals. “He came in probably once a month just to hang out and see some people. You might see him twice a month. He wasn’t a big partyer. He wasn’t one of those guys. He was always quiet and kept to himself.” According to a press release and police report posted online, Dunn was identified as the driver of the 2007 Porsche, which belonged to the “Jackass” star. Another unidentified passenger also died in the crash. According to the report, speed may have contributed to the accident. When police arrived on the scene, Dunn’s vehicle was on fire and in the woods. Local police hadn’t responded to MTV News’ request for further comment by press time, despite several phone calls to the West Goshen Township police department. Dunn’s G4 show “Proving Ground” has been pulled off the schedule, a network rep confirmed to MTV News. According to the rep, “The show has been suspended from air until further discussions can take place.” In a previous statement, the network said, “All of us at G4 are shocked and deeply saddened by the tragic news that Ryan Dunn has passed away. Ryan’s comedic wit and signature no-holds-barred approach made him an incredible talent and his work as host of G4’s Proving Ground was flawless. Ryan will be missed dearly by his legion of fans and we extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends during this difficult time.” Share your memories of Dunn on our Facebook page. Skit traces singer’s dollar-sign name back to a pizza-store sign. By James Dinh Ke$ha in her Funny or Die parody video Photo: Funny Or Die Ke$ha is perhaps as well-known for her unusually spelled name as her hard party-girl lyrics, sexy-grunge attire. And thankfully, she seems to have quite a sense of humor about the former. The pop star teamed up with comedy video website Funny or Die to tell “The Story of the $.” In somber, TV documentary tones and dressed in all black, Ke$ha tells the traumatic story of a childhood birthday party at a fast food pizza chain. “I used to be Kesha with an S, instead of a dollar sign, and then one year I had my birthday at Shakey’s Pizza,” she says, almost shedding tears. “On the sign, the big sign where they write ‘Happy birthday,’ they replaced the S with a dollar sign.” After a dramatic reenactment of the sign, the video then turns to Joe Trundle, an employee at the pizza joint, who recalls the day they didn’t have any more S letters to hang up. “Yeah, I remember that day,” he confesses. “We had a special going on sausage, salami and sundried tomatoes pizza so we were just all out of S’s.” Fans get a glimpse inside of Ke$ha’s real career aspirations as she reveals, “It ruined my life. I wanted to be a CPA, but you know who H&R Block doesn’t hire? People with dollar signs in their name. I pretty much had to be a pop star.” The singer’s painful story is all but relieved when the interviewer brings her back to the same Shakey’s Pizza location, in hopes of restoring her proper spelling. But she’s met with another unpleasant surprise when the sign shows “KESH4.” “We have an artichoke and anchovy pizza today, so we ran out of A’s,” the employee tells a heartbroken Ke$ha. After lashing out at Trundle, “Tik Tok,” begins to play as the shattered the singer forever known for her dollar sign name gets back into her black limo.
