Tom Hardy Is In Dark Knight Rises Denial (and 8 Other Revelations From the Warrior Press Conference)

When The Fighter premiered last year, Lionsgate was sitting on Warrior , another “fighter” film about the deeply rooted rivalry between two working-class brothers. Directed by Gavin O’C onnor ( Miracle ), the action drama features burgeoning stars Joel Edgerton and Tom Hardy (both of whom force fed themselves chicken and trained brutally to attain realistically rock hard MMA physiques) and Nick Nolte as their recovering alcoholic father who so desperately seeks their forgiveness. In anticipation of this gritty Sept. 9 release, O’C onnor and his stars Nolte, Edgerton, Hardy and Jennifer Morrison gathered Friday at the Los Angeles press conference to discuss Warrior , their upcoming big budget projects ( Dark Knight Rises and The Great Gatsby ) and in the case of Nolte, Katharine Hepburn’s affinity for drunks and the enduring social message of his ’80s Eddie Murphy comedy 48 Hours . Click through for the revelations.

Skincest is Best: Films Featuring Father/Daughter Incest [PICS]

Fathers and daughters. It’s (excuse the expression) the mother of all incest taboos- while twincest (especially among Swedish bikini models) is considered harmless cheeky fun, and the enduring popularity of Kay Parker proves the power of the hot mom fantasy, the idea of a father and daughter getting it on still gives many people the creeps. When it happens in movies, Daddy’s usually the bad guy and his little girl’s messed up for life. Think of Chinatown : She’s my sister…she’s my daughter…she’s my sister AND my daughter! But there are a few odd sexceptions… Skincest surprises after the jump!

Weekend Forecast: Happy President’s Day! Hollywood Hates You

I think it was Abraham Lincoln who said, “A man in a frock is a box-office lock.” Or was that Franklin Roosevelt? I get them confused sometimes. I do know that our current president Barack Obama famously uttered the enduring proverb, “Holy Christ, they made another Big Momma movie? Michelle, hide the girls!” And you don’t even want to know what he said about the rest of the President’s Day weekend’s multiplex line-up. Let’s break it down as quickly and painlessly as possible:

‘Easy A’ Star Penn Badgley Dishes On Hollywood Rumor Mill

‘I once heard that I got my girlfriend a Cartier love bracelet,’ actor jokes about ‘Gossip Girl’ co-star Blake Lively. ‘It was incredibly romantic of me.’ By Kara Warner Penn Badgley Photo: MTV News Opening on Friday, “Easy A,” starring adorable girl-next-door Emma Stone and “Gossip Girl” star Penn Badgley, is a perfect example of the teen comedy done right. The hilarious film revolves around the enduring teenage obsession with one’s reputation. Nice girl/ semi-outsider Olive makes a deal with a guy friend to pretend to have sex at a house party, so that the bullies at their high school will think he’s “cool” and leave him alone. But that one good-natured act soon spirals into many more “requests” from other similarly plagued students. Soon the high school rumor mill has been set ablaze with exaggerated accounts of Olive’s alleged exploits. When MTV News recently caught up with Badgley, we took a different tack, asking him what rumor he wished he’d started about himself back in high school — and the wackiest one he’s heard since then. “That I was going to be a movie star,” he joked. “I don’t know, as far as my high school persona [goes], I was pretty laid-back, I was pretty quiet. Confident but not terribly out there,” he revealed. “I didn’t come into my own until I was about 17 or 18.” Not surprisingly, the funniest rumor Badgley had heard about himself involved his highly publicized relationship with “GG” co-star and girlfriend Blake Lively. “I once heard a rumor that I got my girlfriend a Cartier love bracelet,” he recalled. “Which is essentially like a love handcuff that can’t come off, and they’re like $3,000 or something. So it was incredibly romantic of me,” he laughed. “But I didn’t do it.” Check out everything we’ve got on “Easy A.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com .

Roger Ebert Talks Cancer, Movies And Root Beer On ‘Oprah’

Legendary film critic communicated via a laptop that spoke what he typed. By Eric Ditzian Chaz and Robert Ebert on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” Tuesday Photo: Harpo Productions Almost four year after cancer surgery deprived legendary film critic Roger Ebert of the ability to talk, the 67-year-old appeared on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” to discuss his battle with the disease and his enduring love for movies, his wife Chaz and root beer. Communicating via a laptop that spoke words after he typed them, Ebert’s first statement came in response to Oprah’s question about how he feels. “Terrific,” he said. Ebert was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2002 that then spread, necessitating multiple surgeries and the eventual removal of his jaw and the lower floor of his mouth. He is now unable to talk, eat or drink, and takes his meals four times a day through a gravity-drip bag connected to his stomach. But Oprah announced that Ebert is currently cancer-free. When asked, he couldn’t recall what his final spoken words were before his surgery. “I didn’t realize at the time they were going to be my last words,” he said. “I probably spoke them to Chaz as they wheeled me into the operating room. They were probably, ‘I love you.’ At least I hope those were my last words. On the other hand, they may have been, ‘Good morning, doctor!’ ” During the interview, Ebert spoke movingly of his connection with his wife, his commitment to continuing to review films (his column is still syndicated in over 200 newspapers) and his enduring love of food. He related one dream he had about going to a root beer stand with his father as a young boy and how he woke with the frosty taste of the drink in his mind. Despite his appearance, Ebert said he has no intention of having reconstructive surgery on his face. “No more surgeries for me,” he said. “I’m not going to talk or eat or drink again. So the surgery would only be to patch my face back together. I don’t want to go through that. This is the way I look and my life is happy and productive, so why have any more surgery?… Nobody looks perfect. We have to find peace with the way we look and get on with life.”
