Source: @JustInMyView / R1 Digital Just two years ago, everybody and their mama had something negative to say about Meek Mill. He was dating Nicki Minaj (who was America’s Hip Hop Sweetheart at the time) and sparked an infamous beef with Drake , who also happened to be a beloved jewel to the masses — which made folks want to cancel the Philly bul altogether. But after being arrested last year and spending 8 months away in prison, people’s hearts grew fonder for Meek and what he brings to the game. With folks like Jay-Z supporting him, it was easy for former haters to jump on the “free Meek” bandwagon. Now the Dreamchasers CEO is free, with a whole new lease on life — and his new album Championships is a direct reflection of that. Without being too preachy, Meek still manages to spit some truths about the state of his city, the country and surviving as a Black man in this world in general. There are few songs here and there when he talks about his money, h**s and watches — but not in his usual braggadocios way. This is Meek Mill all grown up. Hit the flip to check out all the lines on Championships that will have you saying “I felt that.”
Source: Global Grind / Global Grind Another episode of The Rewind is here and we are more than happy to give you your much-needed dose of recap reality. Every week we revisit some of the pop culture trends, movies, viral moments and music from the week before and give our hot takes. Our experts Landon Lavarius and DJ Franchise share their opinions, sprinkle in some facts and then when it’s all over and done with, provide a rating of 1 to 10. We listen to the songs, watch the movies, scour the internet, and do the hard work so you don’t have to. On today’s episode, we’re getting into the new Robin Hood film. Unless you’ve lived under a rock your entire life, you probably know the story of Robin Hood pretty well. He was a well-meaning thief that robbed the rich to give to the poor. There have been a ton of movies based on the story of Robin Hood but this particular one came out on November 21, 2018 and stars Taron Egerton, Jamie Foxx, Ben Mendelsohn and others. It was produced by Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Davisson Killoran, and Basil Iwanyk. The story is a classic and other Robin Hood movies (and cartoons) have seemingly been received well. However, this one? Not so much. Rotten Tomatoes gave it a 16% on the Tomatometer and with a production budget of $100 million, the film only brought in a total gross of $25.9 million worldwide. To say it flopped would be an understatement. The new Robin Hood was a box office bomb. But was it really bad or was it overshadowed by the release of Creed II, which did amazing in the box office? DJ Franchise and Landon Levarius give their take. We also break down last week’s rap battle between Joyner Lucas and Tory Lanez. The two exchanged some friendly fire after Tory Lanez got a little cocky on Instagram Live and said that Joyner Lucas couldn’t see him lyrically. Joyner challenged him to a bar for bar battle that resulted in several diss tracks between the two. It’s cool though, they are both still fans of one another and did it all for the love of hip hop. Did you get to listen for yourself? DJ Franchise and Landon Levarius give us a break down, and of course a rating, of the freestyles on today’s episode of The Rewind . Watch the full episode at the top of the page and let us know how you feel!
Source: KidStock / Getty Believe it or not, eating Thanksgiving Day leftovers is an essential part of the holiday experience. Folks try to recreate the blissful feeling of eating such a mouth-watering meal. But unfortunately, the scrumptiousness goes away by the second day. And that still doesn’t stop people from going back for seconds and thirds for days on end. Tami Roman tweeted, “What is it about Thanksgiving leftovers that you keep going for more even though you’re not HUNGRY?! Lord please stop me from eating every 30 min!!!” @EDoggTheRed joked, “ Anybody else just killing time until you can eat leftovers for lunch?” Making completely different meals out of the leftovers is just more proof that Black folks can make something out of nothing. The remains of the turkey can last for a couple of weeks disguised as everything from Turkey sandwiches and turkey soup to turkey casserole. @BrotherNasser was spot on when he tweeted, “Shout owt to everyone who studied how black people brought Tupperware to thanksgiving to have leftovers for the next couple of days and renamed/rebranded it as “meal prep” But believe it or not, there are levels to eating leftovers, There’s an unspoken cap on how long you should have leftovers taking up space in your fridge. According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services , Turkey lasts four days in the fridge. Four months in freezer for best quality — after four months it can dry out and lose flavor. Also, leftovers should always be reheated to 165 degrees Fahrenheit. As for the other dishes, you have up to about four days to enjoy everything else you cooked. If you’re still confused or unsure about the proper protocol for your remaining food, let Plies break down the timetable for eating Thanksgiving Day leftovers.
We’re only a few weeks away from the release of the highly anticipated Air Jordan “Space Jam” XI’s and it seems like Quavo might be angling for Jordan Brand to bless him with a pair or two prior to it’s release. In his visuals to “How Bout That?” Quavo coaches a struggle basketball team and blesses them with some “secret stuff” that has them playing like some mini Monstars afterwards. Maybe this is the stuff LeBron sips on that’s left him the last man standing from that ’03 NBA draft class. Meanwhile back in Philadelphia State Property reunites for a quick studio freestyle to promote their upcoming “Now Or Never Tour.” Well, that took long enough. Source: VINCE BUCCI / Getty After all the drama between Kim Cattrall and the other Sex and the City ladies, we’re probably not going to get a third movie installment. So now, folks are all out here revealing what might have happened had we gotten Sex and the City 3 . Chris North , A.K.A Mr. Big, hit up James Andrew Miller’s podcast recently to talk script. Miller, a journalist who claims to have read an early version of the script, brought up its lack of appreciation for Cattrall’s character and the fact that it would have called for a highly important character to die. JustJared reports Miller told North during the podcast, “People close to Kim [Cattrall] believe that the script didn’t have a lot to offer the character of Samantha.” He reportedly continued, ”They point to the fact that it calls for Mr. Big to die of a heart attack in the shower, relatively early on in the film, making the remainder of the movie more about how Carrie recovers from Big’s death than about the relationship between the four women.” “Chris responded that he hadn’t read the script, but did say he heard the third movie script was ‘superior’ to the first two scripts,” JustJared states. In case you missed it, Kim Cattrall made it clear that she wanted no parts of a third Sex and the City . In September of last year, she hit Twitter to say she “Woke 2 a @MailOnline [sh*t]storm! The only ‘DEMAND’ I ever made was that I didn’t want to do a 3rd film….& that was back in 2016.” While she also clearly doesn’t want to be friends with Sarah Jessica Parker anymore, SJP went on record to say she still wanted Cattrall onboard for the movie. When a fan asked that they continue without Cattrall’s character, Parker was seen responding “Not sure if I can imagine doing another movie without her.” SJP’s comment was surprising, as Cattrall shut her all the way down earlier this year. After her brother died, Cattrall said she didn’t need her old friend’s support. “My Mom asked me today ‘When will that @sarahjessicaparker, that hypocrite, leave you alone?’ Your continuous reaching out is a painful reminder of how cruel you really were then and now. Let me make this VERY clear. (If I haven’t already) You are not my family. You are not my friend. So I’m writing to tell you one last time to stop exploiting our tragedy in order to restore your ‘nice girl’ persona,” she wrote via Instagram. Stay tuned. Woke 2 a @MailOnline storm! Source: Scott Olson / Getty The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are warning US consumers to not eat romaine lettuce as it may be contaminated with E. coli. Thirty-two people, including 12 who have been hospitalized have been infected with the outbreak strain in 11 stages. One had a life threatening form of kidney failure. People have gotten sick in California, Connecticut, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio as well as Wisconsin. The CDC is reporting that if you have any romaine lettuce at home, you should throw it away, even if you have eaten some and didn’t get sick like other people. The warning goes for all brands and types of romaine lettuce considering that no one distributor or source has been determined. Illnesses in the current outbreak started in October. It is not related to the romaine lettuce outbreak from this past summer . According to the CDC , symptoms of E. coli infection, which usually begin about three or four days after consuming the bacteria, can include “watery or bloody diarrhea, fever, abdominal cramps, nausea and vomiting.” It normally takes people to see their health improve within five to seven days but this strain of E. coli has caused more severe illnesses.
