Hussle’s sister, Samantha Smith, believes the girl is better off with her brother’s side of the family, but mother Tanisha Foster vows to do what she must to regain custody of her child. The Blast reports : Nipsey Hussle‘s baby mama has arrived to court to battle it out with his family and make sure she will have custody of her 10-year-old daughter. Tanisha Foster just showed up to court in Los Angeles and we’re told she will make it clear to the judge she wants to see her daughter, Emani. Tanisha is also going to bring up the fact that she has joint custody of Emani, as was awarded years back when she entered into a custody order with Nipsey. Along with custody, we’re told Tanisha will be filing for child support and wants the financial assistance to come from Nipsey’s estate. Outside the courtroom, Foster told the outlet that she’s willing to do whatever is necessary to retain primary custody of her child. — Photo: Getty
Source: NBC The Village / NBC/Jerod Haynes The very first time I saw Jerod Haynes , I knew he would be a star. Per a friend’s recommendation, we met back in late 2013 when Jerod came in to audition for my MFA thesis film “Blame.” The minute he read those lines, it was clear he was meant to play the role of this young father at a crossroads: Either turn his son into the police for raping their neighbor or delete the only evidence of the assault on the teen’s cell phone. Despite the tiny budget for our 6-day shoot, Jerod never treated it like an amateur student film. Like a true professional, he came to set ready and delivered a beautiful performance filled with complexity, empathy and rawness. Everyday, I looked into that monitor and was blown away in awe. And having watched his work over the years, whether it’s on stage or on-screen, Jerod is truly a force. Now five-plus-years later, the Chicago native is starring in his first TV leading role in NBC’s “The Village.” On the drama, he plays Ben, a New York City police officer living in his parent’s Brooklyn apartment complex where his neighbors are more like his family. The more obstacles they all encounter in life, the more they grow together. For Ben, he is also juggling a lot—the death of his son, his mother’s battle with pancreatic cancer and falling in love with Ava, an Iranian immigrant who ICE wants to deport. That, and Ben is helping raise her son Sami. No doubt, the meatiness of a role like this is exactly what Jerod was made for. HelloBeautiful recently sat down with the rising star to talk about NBC’s “The Village,” being an African-American man playing a police officer and how therapy has helped him become a better actor and human being. HelloBeautiful: You were an athlete and then you became an actor. How did that happen? Jerod Haynes: I played basketball and even left college early to pursue it professionally, but my agent stopped answering my phone calls. [Laughs] So that dream never happened and I found myself stuck on my sister’s couch depressed. One day I Googled “depression” and it said something about acting classes, so I approached the Acting Studio Chicago . But I couldn’t afford the classes, so they worked out a barter system. I would take out the trash and do other things around the studio to get free classes. Soon, I realized that I really liked acting, so I took even more classes and auditioned for some plays, got guidance from people in the business and kept going with it. I started to see that as the window for basketball closed, another one opened. HB: OK, so I’ve had the privilege of directing you before, and listen…there were so many moments on set when I was looking into the monitor and was like “Damn, he’s really good.” At what point, did you realize that you were good at this? JH: Kellee, I’m still trying to figure that out! [Laughs] Honestly, sometimes I wonder if they are like, “What is he doing here? I want to say that I’m good, but that’s all subjective. But here’s what I do know. I enjoy this and I am just seeking to get better at it. HB: You have the ability to dig so deep within yourself with your role as Ben and in any supporting role you’ve had, like when you were on “Chicago Med” and your wife died and obviously “Blame.” You like to cry on-screen. [Laughs] JH: Ha! You know, this work teaches you who you really are. And learning who you are is the toughest task you can be given, because you see the good and the bad. You see your flaws up close and you really begin to understand what your triggers are, especially when the scripts require a high level of emotion and thoughtfulness. I started therapy and began learning why certain things affected me and what tools I need to have to work on them. Listen. Therapy works. Also, being able to articulate what and why something affects me in a scene has helped as an actor and as a man. I can read a scene and identify quicker with it and what it requires emotionally. HB: It’s so rare to hear a Black man speak so openly and positively about how therapy has improved their lives. Thank you for this, we need more to speak up. JH: Well, I wasn’t always that way, I won’t lie. But I got to a place where I kept hitting a ceiling and finally had to ask myself what was the worse thing that could happen by going to therapy? HB: Right, like the worse is that you get better? JH: Exactly. And like I said, it works. Source: NBC The Village / NBC HB: Shifting gears to “The Village,” what drew you to this role? JH: I remember reading the script and feeling like there was so much humanity in it. And in these times, we are seeing a lot of isolation and silence and people holding on to grudges. Yet, here is a story about this group of neighbors who try to understand each other and be there for one another. We all have a commonality of pain and that brings us together. You’re wounded, I’m wounded, so let me help you heal and vice versa. And these neighbors need each other’s help and can’t do it alone. Given how divided this country is right now, I was drawn to this story. “The Village” is the show we need now more than ever.

Source: Jerritt Clark / Getty Nardwuar always manages to wow his interviewees with the personal nuggets and gifts he brings to his interviews. The YouTube legend caught up with viral sensation and country music superstar (debate your uncle) Lil Nas X. When it comes to preparation for interviewing an artist Nardwuar has to be in the discussion. The YouTube legend caught up with the buzzing artist this past weekend at the Rolling Loud music festival in Miami, Florida. In his famed interviewing style, Nardwuar brought gifts for the X that directly relate to his music while also speaking on moments in the young musician’s life. In the nearly 8 minute clip, Lil Nas X revealed that Billy Ray Cyrus said he reminded him of country music legend Johnny Cash, himself and DJ/producer Daytrip has some music on the way and that he loves Cupcake’s version of his record “Old Town Hoe.” In typical Nardwuar fashion, he managed to stun Nas X when brought up the fact that before his song took off he only had $5.62 in his Wells Fargo bank account. Lil Nas X’s fifteen minutes of fame have been extended and his hit single “Old Town Road” remained on the top of Billboard’s Hot 100 for another week putting him in a class all by himself. The song is now the first to have 100 million streams in 5 consecutive weeks. Source: Josiah Kamau / Getty As the OG Kardashian-West child, North West has been in the spotlight for her entire life–and luckily for her, it looks like she’s really growing into it. Even though North has always been an absolutely adorable little one, she hasn’t always taken to the superstar life bestowed upon her by her famous parents. During the earlier years of her life, North was known to snarl at cameras just like her daddy, running from the paparazzi every chance she got. But now, her views have changed a little bit, and it seems like the almost 6-year-old North we know today is more into the spotlight than ever. Just today, North and her mom decided to put Kim Kardashian’s maternity leave to good use by making a music video for the hottest song out right now, Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road.” Even though there’s a good chance that Saint and Chicago (and the new baby) are also at home during the production of this video, it says a lot that North wanted to star in this one by herself. Kim is always mentioning that North isn’t the biggest fan of her little brother, so it’s really no surprise that she wanted her debut music video to be a solo effort–well, beside the intro Kim assisted with. In honor of this brand new display of North’s adorable creativity, let’s take a look at some of her other shining moments throughout the past few years: North’s love of fashion is everything, and this sequence of photos that ends with her crying is absolute gold. We all played in our mom’s closet as a kid, but her selection is definitely a lot more extensive than most of ours.

(Remember: NBC canceled his show “Steve” to give Grammy winning singer Kelly Clarkson his time slot and they replaced his hosting gig for “ Little Big Shots” with Oscar-nominee Melissa McCarthy .) In a clip shared by his wife Majorie Harvey on social media, Steve told his audience that he has many more chapters in his life write. “I happen to be 62-years old. I’m in the middle of my 62 nd chapter of the book that I’m writing. There’s been some good books in there, there’s been some good chapters and some bad chapters and some chapters that lasted longer than I wanted them to. That homeless chapter lasted way too long than I wanted it to.” After the crowd laughed, Steve added, “But in this 62 nd chapter, I’ve got my finger on the corner of the page. Source: Prince Williams / Getty Tonight’s episode of Love and Hip-Hop Atlanta starts with the reminder of Rasheeda and Kirk’s couples retreat. This was after the point that Sierra revealed that she cheated on BK… after she was mad at BK for an alleged (as per Karlie) inappropriate conversation with Pooh. BK is pissed and pulls his hood over his face because he doesn’t want to look at her. He’s irritated that Sierra has been looking like “the perfect person” this entire time while he has been looking like a dog. Then Sierra, in her confessional, says they both cheated on each other, then BK cheated again so they need to keep their distance for the rest of the trip. Kirk and Rasheeda give them some advice then move on to Joc, his girl, Kendra, and all the stuff Karlie was saying about messing around with Joc. Karlie immediately starts getting defensive and Kendra ain’t with it. Kendra threatens to dog walk Karlie but that can’t happen because security got them on lock. Once everything calms down the group, mainly Bambi and Rasheeda, attempts to talk to Karlie about playing carrier pigeon and starting drama. Karlie gets defensive and this goes nowhere but everyone thinks she’s trippin, which she is. Rasheeda, understanding that Karlie Redd is going through some things (miscarriage and breakup), goes to talk to Karlie for some one on one time and to give her more advice, which is that a relationship comes with love, trust, and forgiveness. They hug it out then we head back to the city. Mimi meets Pooh for a kiki because she feels like she’s caught in the middle of Karlie and Pooh’s drama since their circle of friends go back about 10 years. Mimi calls Pooh out for what she had Che Mack do at the engagement party. Pooh basically said she was mad that Karlie didn’t invite her to the party. Yeah, she’s a bird. She also tells Mimi that she doesn’t mind talking to Karlie and trying to find a resolution and she doesn’t want the other girls to misunderstand her, so she’s going to throw a cocktail party and everyone’s invited. Yeah, that’s going to go well. On the final day of the retreat at the cabin, Rasheeda has them doing the same exercise that keeps popping up during various Love and Hip-Hop group trips lately, across the franchise. Basically, they write a message on a paper boat and then sail away. The message is supposed to be something they want to let go. Everyone gets off what they need to get off and they feel like they lifted a load off. And Mo even finds Karlie again and they make up. The engagement is back on Back in Atlanta, We find Tokyo Vanity performing at what Spice calls “one of the biggest shows in Atlanta.” Spice and Tokyo are buddy-buddy now so Spice is there supporting her girl. Che Mack is also there, chilling. Then Akbar V comes through and tells Che she feels some type of way about all these girls coming to Atlanta when she’s actually from there. Basically, trying to create beef out of nothing…but really for camera time. Anyway, she performs later on and starts trash talking on the mic about how “everybody comes to Atlanta tryna get on” then she starts rapping about how real she is and lowkey insults the other transplant rappers around her (aka taping the show). This is obviously aimed at Obviously Tokyo Vanity feels some type of way so she grabs a mic and tells her to put a name on it. Akbar V says Tokyo don’t want no smoke. But you know she does. They attempt to fight but security gets them together until Spice, who is watching this all goes down in the cut, stealthily kicks off her Louboutins, hurdles over a couch and sprints toward Akbar V in an attempt to deliver Yardie fade. But security. You already know they were not going to let that happen. So much for Akbar V “changing.” Anyway, let’s fast forward a bit. So, Pooh felt she was wrong about what she did to Karlie Redd at her engagement party. She also doesn’t want the other women to get the wrong idea of her so she decided to have a cocktail party. Because these types of things always go well. Anyway, it ends with Karlie Redd and Pooh trying to kill each other again, with Pooh once again talking about how Karlie licked her butt and she says Karlie owes her $750. Security doesn’t let them fight and that’s that. Next week we’ll have a Che Mack’s baby-daddy-cheating-scandal to look forward to. Vlogging about her tummy tuck and brazilian butt lift, she said she’s “really happy” with the results – but many of her fans aren’t on board. “I’m really really happy about the results,” Queen explained. “I basically got a tummy tuck and I got my hernia repaired around my belly navel, it would puff out because of my loose skin. I had really really bad fibrosis from the smart lipo I got two years ago.” “I’m just really really happy. I feel more confident with my body and being a mom with two kids and having two c-sections and all the stuff going on with myself, I’m really happy,” she said, adding “I will not be getting any more surgery.
