Source: South China Morning Post / Getty Now that Netflix has decided to purge Marvel shows off of it’s streaming service they’ve opened up the door for Hulu! to get stronger by adding their own Marvel superhero series and they’re getting ready to ride that wave. According to Deadline Hulu and Marvel are moving forward with two new live-action series based on Ghost Rider and Helstorm. Word? While Ghost Rider has seen some big screen action courtesy of Nicholas Cage’s failed rendition of Johnny Blaze and then again on television as Robbie Reyes, fans will be excited to see how Hulu reinvents the Spirit of Vengeance going forward. Helstorm meanwhile will be seeing his first live-action depiction and we’re curious to see how it plays out. In Helstrom, Daimon and Ana Helstrom are the son and daughter of a mysterious and powerful serial killer. The siblings have a complicated dynamic as they track down the terrorizing worst of humanity — each with their attitude and skills. Marvel’sHelstrom is executive produced by Paul Zbyszewski, who will serve as showrunner and Marvel’s Jeph Loeb. It’s almost certain that these two characters will eventually crossover and maybe create a new duo series. As a result, the series will get a second season on the CBS All Access streaming platform. “Jordan Peele and Simon Kinberg’s reimagining of The Twilight Zone is off to an amazing start on CBS All Access, driving the most viewers on its premiere day for an original series to date,” Julie McNamara, EVP Original Content at CBS All Access shared in a press statement. “Jordan, Simon, the creative team and cast have done a phenomenal job translating the series’ legacy of socially conscious storytelling for modern-day audiences. They are master storytellers, and we look forward to bringing fans further into The Twilight Zone with a second season,” the statement continued. That’s huge. According to reports, the UNC Charlotte campus is currently on lockdown after gunshots were heard near the Kennedy building. Per the Mecklenburg Emergency Medical Services Agency, two people were found dead at the scene while two others have suffered life threatening injuries. Two others have suffered gunshot wounds but are expected to survive. The suspect is currently in custody, reportedly a student according to WSOC . “Shots reported near Kennedy. Run, Hide, Fight. Secure yourself immediately,” the university said in an alert, referring to the school’s Kennedy building on campus. During the raid, officers found ammunition which is in violation for his prior violation fora weapons case dating back to 2014. Source: WENN / WENN The divorce battle between estranged couple Tamar Braxton and Vince Herbert is still ongoing, and now the singer and media personality is seeking immediate single status. Braxton has requested a “status only” divorce to become legally single, but there is still much more to handle on the back end. The Blast reports : According to court documents obtained by The Blast, Braxton has asked the court for a “status only” divorce — meaning she and Vince Herbert would be legally single. They still have the usual support and custody issues to work out but Braxton makes it clear in the docs: “Petitioner seeks a dissolution of her marriage with Respondent based on irreconcilable differences. Petitioner believes there is nothing the Court can do to salvage or repair the marriage.” As The Blast first reported, Braxton has been itching to get her divorce settled for some time now. Last October, she asked a judge to grant her a default judgment in the case because Vince had been blowing off responding to her petition for divorce. We want to thank the amazing doctors at Cedars-Sinai Hospital for their expert care and kindness and we again want thank all of John’s fans, friends and colleagues for all of the love and support they showed him during this difficult time.” ***Update*** Singleton’s family released a statement informing fans John Singleton will be taken off life support today. “It is with heavy hearts we announce that our beloved son, father and friend, John Daniel Singleton will be taken off life support today. This was an agonizing decision, one that our family made, over a number of days, with the careful counsel of John’s doctors,” they said in a statement. Singleton “quietly struggled with hypertensions. More than 40% of African-American men and women have high blood pressure, which also develops earlier in life and is usually more severe.” ***Update*** According to FOX 4 , legendary director John Singleton has died. He was 51. However, TMZ has a conflicting report that Singleton is still alive and on life support. According to Michael Blackmon, reporter at BuzzFeedNews, Singleton’s publicist reached out to him to deny death reports. I just got an email from John Singleton's publicist about that one report saying he died early Monday morning. She said: “John is still in life support. The Boys N Tha Hood director suffered a fatal stroke two weeks ago and was in a medically coma until reports surfaced that he has passed. Singleton’s family is divided over his estate, TMZ reports. Singleton’s mother Sheila Ward is the conservator over his estate, however his daughter Cleopatra filed a motion in an attempt to gain control over his estate. But the battle isn’t limited to both Singleton’s mother and daughter, his girlfriend is also trying to gain control over his estate. Conflicting reports about Singleton’s death circulated last week after his daughter reportedly claimed his health was improving in an attempt to gain control out of fear Ward will “fleece” the estate and isolate the children out of their father’s $35 million fortune. Singleton was the first Black director to be nominated for an Academy Award for his prolific film Boyz n the Hood. However, an old legal nemesis for the rapper denied him the chance to go see his hometown squad take on their neighbors to the north. TMZ Sports reports : The Philly rapper has been on probation ever since his 2008 drug and weapons case … and has to get permission every time he wants to leave the state of Pennsylvania. So, when the Sixers got matched up with the Raps in the Eastern Conference semi-finals this week, Meek — a HUGE Sixers fan — filed a request to make the trip to the 6 to cheer on his guys in person. We’re told Meek’s probation officer signed off on the request with no issue … but when it came to getting Brinkley’s signature, she refused to approve the request. Of course, Meek and Brinkley have history … and it’s no secret they don’t get along. Sixers co-owner Michael Rubin says Brinkley is deliberately ignoring their attempts to get approval … teeing off on the judge in an Instagram post. “Judge Genece Brinkley – I know you have a vendetta against Meek Mill and are obsessed with trying to control every aspect of his life, but did you really NOT approve him to go to rep the Sixers in Toronto for the game?” That stinks but hey, not all seven games will be hosted in Toronto and chances are this will be a long series. Nickelodeon announced that the beloved 90s cartoon is getting a television re-launch with a 26 episode order. There is also a live-action movie with CGI characters on the way. I love the Rugrats with every fiber of my being and am looking forward to a cartoon revival. Not really digging a live action movie though. Here’s a question, is the new Rugrats revival going to be like a direct continuation (ie with Kimi, and Dill) or are restarting the whole show from the beginning but with smartphones like in the recent comics?
