Source: Leon Bennett / Getty A week after she made headlines for supporting her 11-year-old stepson at the Miami Pride Parade, Gabrielle Union has spoken out about why she and her family showed Zion all that love. “It feels normal,” the Being Mary Jane actress told Us Weekly at the Black Design Collective Honors Costume Designer Ruth E. Carter event on Saturday. “My mom took me to my first pride at eight years old. We moved to San Francisco, and it’s kind of part of being a global citizen.” The 46-year-old added, “People talk a lot about diversity and inclusion, but they don’t actually mean it. In our household, we mean that, and that’s why the entire household went to pride.” As we previously reported , Zion and his stepmom were on a float during the April 7 LGBTQ pride festival. They were also joined by other family members such as his 17-year-old big brother, Zaire and baby sister Kaavia . See, a 2016 report released by the Center for American Progress found that Black LGBTQ folks experience higher rates of homelessness during youth than their peers; have higher rates of unemployment or underemployment; and face overall lower rates of pay and higher rates of poverty. Another report conducted by the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network found that nearly half of Black/African-American LGBTQ students felt unsafe due to their sexual orientation; over a third felt unsafe because of their gender expression and nearly 40 percent of Black/ African-American students were more likely to experience in-school discipline. So, it’s clear that if this is the disproportionate bias our children face in the outside world, they need to be loved and accepted as much as possible when they are home with us. Wendy revealed that she is nearing the end of her stint at a sobriety house. “I’m moving out of the sober house in just a few days, you know,” she said. “It’ll be Wendy on her own.” As for her personal life becoming public, the media veteran said it’s all “fair game.” “It’s crazy ’cause now my business is your business,” she said. “It’s kind of funny. We’re told Monica’s decision to stay mum is frustrating the people tasked with crafting an interesting storyline for the singer … and she’s just not cooperating with producers begging for her to open up about her relationship with Shannon. The trailer for the reality show’s upcoming season makes it seem like Monica’s an open book when it comes to her divorce … but we’re told that couldn’t be further from the truth. Source: Prince Williams / Getty Jim Jones caught a break in his Georgia drug and gun case . After taking a plea deal, the Dipset rapper was able to avoid jail time. Jones was facing five felonies after a car he was a passenger in allegedly was chased down by cops, with guns and drugs found in the vehicle after it was searched. Reports TMZ : According to court docs out of Coweta County, GA — where Jim was facing 5 felony counts and a misdemeanor from his June 2018 arrest — Jim was sentenced to 2 years probation and a $1,500 fine, plus minor court costs. We’re told 3 of the 6 charges were dropped, including a felony drug charge and 2 felony counts of possession of a firearm. The other 3 charges will go away if he stays out of trouble while on probation — all part of a plea deal. According to the docs, obtained by TMZ, Jim has to stay off booze and drugs for the next couple years and report to his probation officer in GA to get the remaining 3 charges dropped from his record. All things considered, he should count himself lucky. We’re willing to bet Jones stays out of trouble because those felony charges carry years in the bing. The iconic New York City venue shuttered in 2017 following a sale to AEG Presents and Brooklyn Sports and Entertainment. Now, after a comprehensive renovation, Jay-Z will inaugurate the venue with a “B-Sides” set, featuring older songs and deep cuts. I’ll be Hov’s first time performing at Webster Hall. Tickets go on sale Friday, April 19th, at 11 Am with an AmEx presale starting Thursday, April 18th, at 10 AM. Martin plays a young Sanders while Hall is perfect as the adult exec who tortures her employees, including April (Issa Rae). Jordan and April bond as the roles are reversed and April finds herself bossing around her younger, older boss. Little, an idea from Martin who was inspired by Tom Hanks’ body-swapping classic Big , makes Martin the youngest Black executive producer in Hollywood. While chatting about the film, Issa and Marsai let us in on what it was like to film the karaoke scene of the fun flick. “The Mary J. Blige scene, [Marsai] was just so good. She can sing and dance and I was like dreading it because I thought we were both on the same page. We’re going to do this bad karaoke. I can’t sing or dance.
