‘Jersey Shore’ High Five: Snooki Hides In A Bush

Also, Vinny demonstrates why he’s our ‘MVP’ of the week. By Jim Cantiello Snooki on Thursday’s episode of “Jersey Shore” Photo: MTV Ronnie and Sammi went to church this week on “Jersey Shore” “to relieve their sins.” I didn’t know being boring and ruining a reality TV show was a sin. But if it is, sweetheart, you’re going to hell. Still, it wasn’t all boring by any stretch. Here are my five favorite moments from Thursday’s episode: 5. Who the Hell Is That?! This episode picked right up where we left off in the premiere: in a tornado of fingernails and hair extensions. As Sammi and JWoww clawed at each other, we met two new housemates. (Funny, they didn’t look very Italian to me!) The burly security guards didn’t stay long but they did help break up that catfight. 4. Spray It And then it was time to go clubbing, yo! As the guys reached for the T-shirts, the girls grabbed the hairspray. “It’s a good thing none of us have asthma,” JWoww pointed out. Or an ozone layer. F— the environment! 3. MVP While trying to fashion a giant hose in order to save a kickball for Snooki and Deena — don’t ask — Vinny revealed some intimate details about his failed hookup with Snooki. OK, seriously, between that scene, his stalker at the club, his executing a “robbery” against the Situation, and his playful conversation with JWoww about Deena’s breasts, Vinny, you’re our MVP of the week. 2. ‘Can You Believe This Mother—-er?’ So Ron cheated on girlfriend Sammi in Miami and lied about it. JWoww and Snooki tell their pal about Ron’s cheating ways (in an admittedly stupid way), but she stays with him anyway. He turns Sam against all her female friends, and then when she’s depressed about not having any friends because he helped destroy all those relationships, he gets angry at her for being depressed and not wanting to hang out with her estranged friends who are now her mortal enemies? Oh, NO. Can you believe this mother—-er? And that was, “Can You Believe This Mother—-er?” 1. Snooki Bush At the club, Snooki snuck off to be one with nature … literally. “Who goes and hides in a bush?” she asked rhetorically. “Only me. I don’t care. I’ll pee in a bush, I’ll poop in a bush, I’ll hide in a bush.” Wait. Did she just take a dump in that bush?!! Don’t miss “Jersey Shore,” airing Thursday nights at 10 p.m. ET on MTV. ‘Jersey Shore’ Star Deena Explains Wardrobe Malfunction

The new housemate laughs about her early encounter with the Situation. By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Jim Cantiello Deena Photo: MTV News Well, that’s one way to introduce yourself to your new roommates. “Jersey Shore” newcomer Deena Nicole Cortese hadn’t been inside the Seaside Heights house for more than a few hours when a few too many games of flip cup led to an unfortunate wardrobe malfunction in which she exposed her lady parts to a shocked, though quite amused, Situation. And let’s be honest, Sitch is not exactly the shockable sort when it comes to unveilings of female flesh. Just how did Deena come to drop her drawers on the show’s newest episode quicker than you can shout, “T-shirt time”? “That was such an accident,” she confessed to MTV News. Let’s allow Deena to set the stage. “I wasn’t used to the environment. I didn’t know anybody,” she explained. “I was like, ‘All right, let me get a little buzz. Little did I know, I really didn’t eat the entire day, so my little buzz turned into a quick little hammered. We drank the entire night, so as soon as the nighttime hit, now I want my ‘blast in a glass’ hat. I’m feeling fantastic. I can’t feel my face.” And so Deena and the Situation go in search of the hat, a straw cowboy hat of which she is quite enamored. No sooner does she plop that hat on her noggin than, well, we’ll let the New Jersey native take it from here. “I wanted to show just my bikini, so I go to take off my dress, not realizing my bottoms were not there anymore and came down with my dress,” she said. “That’s when you hear me go, ‘Oh no, not the bikini.’ All frazzled. I had no idea. How embarrassing! “Do you know what?” she added with a shrug. “You can’t dread over things. You know what? Laugh about it. Big deal. Whatever!” Don’t miss “Jersey Shore,” airing Thursday nights at 10 p.m. ET on MTV. Related Videos MTV News Extended Play: ‘Jersey Shore’ Related Photos Jersey Shore | Back To Jersey | Cast Photos

Jeff Bridges Relayed ‘Lebowski’ Theories To Coen Brothers On ‘True Grit’ Set

Oscar-winning actor says he’d love to team up with directing duo again. By Terri Schwartz Jeff Bridges Photo: MTV News Fans might find Jeff Bridges’ most-memorable performance to be as The Dude in the Coen brothers’ 1998 comedy “The Big Lebowski,” and Bridges is looking to impress audiences yet again as Rooster Cogburn in his second Coen brothers flick, “True Grit.” Unsurprisingly, Bridges is a fan of Joel and Ethan Coen’s directing style, which is what had him returning for more. When MTV News asked what his favorite Coen films are, Bridges responded with a laugh, “[‘True Grit’] is the freshest in my mind. Number two would be ‘Lebowski.’ I’m partial, but two great movies!” For Bridges, returning to the set of a Coen brothers film was like returning to an old group of friends. On each of their films, the Coens surround themselves with many of the same crewmembers, including cinematographer Roger Deakins and composer Carter Burwell, and Bridges said the sense of community onset makes the environment “very easy-going.” Bridges and the Coens only made plans for the Oscar-winning actor to star in “Lebowski” and “True Grit,” but Bridges said he’d love to team up with the directing duo again. “I’d like to do whatever. They’re a joy to work with, and they really know how to do it,” he said. That comment might have fans crossing their fingers for a “Big Lebowski 2,” and Bridges said The Dude still has a special place in both his and the Coens’ hearts. With fans still approaching him to talk about “Lebowski,” Bridges said he and the Coens talked about the cult classic on the set of “True Grit.” “Everybody’s got different things to say about ‘The Big Lebowski,’ ” Bridges explained. “One guy came up to me with a theory. He said I’ve got to check this out with the brothers. It was very earnest and desperate. He said, ‘Donny [Steve Buscemi] is a figment of Walter’s [John Goodman] imagination. He doesn’t really exist.’ It gets you thinking a little bit, doesn’t it? So I ran that by the brothers, and they chortled, and that was about it.” Which is your favorite Coen brothers film? Ask Pablo: Is Indoor Skiing Really That Bad?

The Author at Ski Dubai Dear Pablo: How bad is indoor skiing is for the environment? I have heard of places in the Middle East where you can ski indoors, even during the summer. I have been holding on to this question for a while but I recently had the opportunity to visit Ski Dubai at the Mall of the Emirates on a recent business trip to the Middle East. In a land of countless “world’s largest” titles it is surprising that Ski Dubai is not the

Psst! GM and Chrysler Are Peddling Eeeevil Light Trucks and SUVs to a Greater Extent Than Any Other Maker

Here's something about which the environmentalists and car czars planted inside the Obama administration can't be pleased: as a percentage of their U.S. sales, Multi-Government/General Motors and Chrysler are selling more “light trucks,” consisting of pickups, SUVS, and “crossover” vehicles than any other major manufacturer. Further, the companies are clearly emphasizing light trucks at the expense of their car models. I wonder how a government promise to accomplish this would have been received by the fossil-fuels-are-awful media at bankruptcy crunch time last year? You can pretty much count on this inconvenient product mix not getting a great deal of establishment press attention while it drools over the underpowered, heavily subsidized electric lemon known as the Chevy Volt and whatever toy disguised as a useful vehicle Chrysler/Fiat plans on foisting onto the market. The detail is at the Wall Street Journal's monthly report on vehicle sales (link will change in one month). Key items include these: read more

Were Rising Energy Costs the True Cause of the Recession?

Photo: respres , Flickr, CC Yes, it’s conventional wisdom at this point that a bursting housing bubble was the cause of the current, ongoing recession. But a primary reason that bubble may have burst was that homeowners had less money to pay their mortgages after rising costs of gasoline and electricity ate into their budgets. This is precisely what a new report published in the journal Environment Research Letters proposes. In fact, the report points out that rising energy costs have preceded … Read the full story on TreeHugger
