Vince Gill Confronts Westboro Baptist Church Protesters Outside Concert

Country singer Vince Gill confronted the Westboro Baptist Church head-on as the group decided to protest his Missouri concert over the weekend. Vince Gill-Westboro Baptist Church Confrontation The controversial church apparently decided to protest Gill’s concert because he’s a divorced man who remarried, according to media reports. So on Sunday, Gill stepped out of the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts in Kansas City, Mo., to face down some WBC members on the sidewalk. The 56-year-old was once married to Sweethearts of the Rodeo singer Janis Oliver. After his 1998 divorce, he married Christian singer Amy Grant in 2000. Grant, who has offered support to her gay fan base, was also married before. Amy, 52, divorced Christian musician Gary Chapman in 1999. Apparently, their union doesn’t sit well with the WBC, best known for its anti-gay rhetoric, views on marriage and unwanted appearances … everywhere. “Vince Gill, what in the world are you doing out here?” a female WBC member can be heard asking, in a video of the confrontation uploaded to YouTube. “But, more importantly, what are you doing with another man’s wife?” Vince Gill Confronts Westboro Baptist Church Protesters “I came out to see what hatred really looked like in the face,” he said. “Don’t you know that divorce plus remarriage is adultery?” she asked. “Don’t you know that you f–kers are lucky that you don’t have a sign that says something about my wife?” Vince Gill responded , adding: “You know what else [Jesus Christ] said? He said a lot of stuff about forgiveness, about grace. You guys don’t seem to have any of that.” Gill then called another picketer a “big dips–t” and later asked if they are the Phelpses (the Phelps family leads the church) or just “the C Team.” Vince isn’t the only one to turn the tables on Westboro. Nonprofit group Planting Peace announced that in October it will be staging a drag show at the Equality House in Topeka, Kan., across the street. The Westboro Baptist Church compound is set to be in the center of the parade to raise money for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) equality.

Lamar Odom Sued by Photographer, Accused of Acting "Above the Law"

Lamar Odom isn’t just facing accusations of crack use by ex-mistress Polina Polonsky . He’s also now facing a six-figure lawsuit by a member of the paparazzi. Lamar Odom Attacks Paparazzi Stefan Saad is seeking at least $565,000 from the troubled basketball player after Odom attacked him in July , an incident that stemmed from the photographer questioning Lamar’s fidelity and which led to Odom destroying $15,000 worth of camera equipment. The altercation was caught on film, but no charges were filed. In his lawsuit, Saad actually takes aim at the entire Kardashian family, writing: “The Kardashian clan has apparently come to believe that it is above the law, and has some exceptional privilege to disregard the rights of others… The Kardashian clan are not only wealthy and attractive — but also deeply flawed.” Saad also mentioned that the sky is blue and the Pope is Catholic. Just kidding. According to the court documents, Odom acts like he’s “above the law” because he’s married to Khloe Kardashian. And Saad also brings Kim Kardashian’s baby daddy into the equation, alleging that Kanye West gave Odom advice on how to deal with the paparazzi as he would; i.e. in fits of rage. Stefan is suing for assault, conversion and trespass of property. He’s seeking money for the equipment Odom destroyed, along with punitive damages.

Paramedics to Dr. Conrad Murray: Way to Not Call 911 Immediately!

A paramedic who rushed to save Michael Jackson’s life on June 25, 2009, said that if Dr. Conrad Murray called 911 sooner, EMTs might have had a chance. Richard Senneff said that on that day, Murray told him he called 911 the second he realized MJ was in distress – a claim others have disputed at length. Yesterday, bodyguard Alberto Alvarez testified that the Michael Jackson 911 call – which he placed – came well after Murray discovered Jackson unresponsive. According to the police, the delay was at least 20 minutes. The case against Jackson’s doctor is looking pretty strong at the moment. Senneff said that if Dr. Murray called earlier, there was a good chance EMT’s could have restarted Michael Jackson’s heart. But alas, we’ll never know now. Charged with involuntary manslaughter, Murray’s defense theory is going to have to be pretty compelling to overcome the state’s evidence at this point. Other key points of the paramedic’s testimony Friday: The 911 call came in at 12:22 p.m. Seneff arrived four minutes later. When he walked into the room, he saw Murray, Jackson and Alvarez. Michael Jackson was wearing pajamas and seemed underweight. MJ was being moved to the floor by a “frantic” Dr. Conrad Murray. Seneff noticed an IV stand with an IV bag hanging on it. He asked Murray what MJ’s underlying condition was three times before Murray answered. Murray responded that there was no underlying health condition. Given the IV stand in the room and other equipment, this made no sense. Michael Jackson 911 Call Dr. Conrad Murray …

Ron Paul introduces legislation that would open TSA agents up to being prosecuted

Some outraged members of Congress aren’t settling for merely criticizing TSA’s new airport security measures. Yesterday, Texas Rep. Ron Paul introduced The American Traveler Dignity Act. Only one paragraph in length, the bill would remove TSA employees’ immunity from prosecution for implementing the new screening procedures, which offer passengers a choice between either a full-body X-ray scan or an invasive pat down. Paul explained the bill’s need in a speech on the House floor yesterday, saying, “If you can’t grope another person, if you can’t X-ray people and endanger them… if you cant take nude photos of individuals, why do we allow the government to do it?” Jeff Deist, chief of staff for the Texas congressman, told The Daily Caller that “we will start seeking cosponsors in earnest next week.” So far, just North Carolina Republican Rep. Walter Jones and Tennessee Republican Rep. John Duncan have joined Paul as co-sponsors. Duncan delivered a speech on the floor of the House about the new screening measures, stating, “a nationwide revolt is developing over the body scanners at the airports and it should.” A common focus of congressional criticism of the security measures is the role played by Michael Chertoff, Secretary of Homeland Security during the last Bush administration. Paul and Duncan, as well as others, have accused Chertoff of abusing his influence to secure sales for one of his clients. “This is much more about money than it is about security. The former Secretary of Homeland Security, Michael Chertoff, represents Rapid Scan, the company which is selling these scanners to his former department,” said Duncan Wednesday. Paul was equally critical, stating, “Here is a guy who was the head of the TSA selling the equipment, and the equipment is questionable, we don’t even know if it works and it may well be dangerous to our health.” http://news.yahoo.com/s/dailycaller/20101118/pl_dailycaller/fewcongressmenhaveso… added by: JohnA

Concerned about terrorism, Real Americans torch Tennessee mosque

Federal officials are investigating a fire that started overnight at the site of a new Islamic center in a Nashville suburb. Ben Goodwin of the Rutherford County Sheriff's Department confirmed to CBS Affiliate WTVF that the fire, which burned construction equipment at the future site of the Islamic Center of Murfreesboro, is being ruled as arson. Special Agent Andy Anderson of the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives told CBS News that the fire destroyed one piece of construction equipment and damaged three others. Gas was poured over the equipment to start the fire, Anderson said. The ATF, FBI and Rutherford County Sheriff's Office are conducting a joint investigation into the fire, Anderson said. WTVF reports firefighters were alerted by a passerby who saw flames at the site. One large earth hauler was set on fire before the suspect or suspects left the scene. The chair of the center's planning committee, Essim Fathy, said he drove to the site at around 5:30 a.m. Saturday morning after he was contacted by the sheriff's department. “Our people and community are so worried of what else can happen,” said Fathy. “They are so scared.” http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2010/08/28/national/main6814690.shtml added by: atomiclegion

17 year-old Phillies fan tasered after running onto field

PHILADELPHIA (AP) – May 4, 2010 — A police officer used a Taser gun to apprehend a fan who ran onto the field during a Phillies game Monday night, and the team and the police are investigating whether it was an appropriate use of force. http://abclocal.go.com/wpvi/story?section=news /sports/pro/baseball&id=7421034&rss=rss-wpvi-article-7421034 The fan, wearing a baseball cap, red T-shirt and khaki shorts, hopped a fence and scurried around the outfield, eluding two security officers in the bottom of the eighth inning against the St. Louis Cardinals. One officer used a Taser and the fan went down in a heap. Several Phillies placed gloves over their faces and appeared to be stifling laughter at the wild scene. Phillies spokeswomen Bonnie Clark said the police department is investigating the matter and discussing with the team whether using the stun gun was appropriate. Police spokesman Lt. Frank Vanore told The Philadelphia Inquirer police internal affairs will open an investigation to determine if the firing “was proper use of the equipment.” Vanore was not made available to The Associated Press when a call was placed to the police department's public affairs office late Monday night. The teams said it's the first time a Taser has been used by police to apprehend a spectator who ran onto the field. The fan was 17-year-old male and he will be charged with criminal trespass and related offenses, the team said. The Phillies did not release his name because he is a juvenile. added by: learner1776
