They were sick about the fact that live-action Ariel was going to be a Black girl. While Bailey has shared that she’s thrilled about the role, people wondered if she’d heard the criticisms from the naysayers. There was a Change.org petition, asking that Disney rescind their decision. On social media, there was a #NotMyAriel hashtag for people who felt strongly about the issue. There were even those who argued that casting Bailey as Ariel would remove representation for red-headed children. I guess no one considered the fact that Black folks can be red-headed as well. The embattled singer is facing two counts of engaging in prostitution with an individual under 18 years old and offering to hire for sexual purposes a person under 18. The events allegedly took place with an underage girl in Minneapolis in July 2001. During a news conference on Monday, State Attorney Mike Freeman said the alleged victim approached Kelly for an autograph and claims that the 52-year-old singer paid her $200 to get naked and engage in sexual acts at his Minneapolis hotel. Kelly’s attorney, Steve Greenberg calls the latest charges “absurd.” Re: New charges @RKelly give me a break. He was charged with 18 counts of sexual misconduct and other charges in Chicago and New York and pled not guilty to five federal criminal charges including kidnapping and racketeering. Source: Prince Williams / Getty Brooklyn rapper Casanova is getting sued for assault. A woman claims the rapper and his entourage put hands on her in a New York City diner last year. According to the woman who filed the lawsuit, Casanova was the ringleader. Reports TMZ : The incident went down last August when Casanova and a group of friends sat down at the Good Stuff Diner. The alleged victim, Niya Rucker , says his group included 2 women who were not Casanova’s wife … and she thinks that’s why he went off on her. According to the suit, Niya was shooting an Instagram Live video of her meal … but Casanova “mistakenly believed” she was recording him and the 2 women. She says the MC instructed one guy in his group to “take whatever action” was necessary to get Niya’s phone … “including physical force.” Niya says the henchman put her in a strangulation grip, grabbed her phone and deleted the video she’d already posted. She also posted a video of the aftermath, showing her mouth and chin bleeding profusely. In the lawsuit, she says she suffered a fractured jaw, damaged teeth, loss of consciousness, a split lip and several other cuts. Rucker is suing Casanova for assault and battery. No specifics on how much money she is seeking. Back in August 2018, shortly after the incident occurred , Casanova turned himself in and was booked for felony second-degree robbery. However, the case has not yet gone to trial. Casanova has denied putting hands on Rucker. Expect this to be settled out of court.

Way back in January of 2017, Johnny Depp and Amber Heard finalized their divorce by signing a non-disclosure agreement that prevented either side from talking about the split publicly. One of the goals of the agreement was to prevent messy court battles over statements made to the press. It seems the plan backfired in spectacular fashion, however, as Depp is currently suing Heard for $50 million, alleging that she violated the agreement by writing a Washington Post op-ed about her experiences as an abuse victim. Heard never referred to Depp by name, but given the high profile nature of their brief marriage and ugly divorce, there was little doubt whom she was talking about. Thus far, the court battle has been a nightmare for both parties, as new allegations of appalling behavior have been hurled in both directions. In written statements, Heard has called Depp an alcoholic “monster” who repeatedly assaulted her and tried to have her blacklisted in Hollywood following their divorce. Depp has countered by accusing Heard of painting bruises on her face and body in order to frame him for divorce. He claims that Heard tried to cut off his finger during one of the then-couple’s infamous 2015 meltdown in Australia. This week, in an amended filing, Depp made a new claim about that ugly altercation, claiming that when he tried to distance himself from Heard, the actress shoved a lit cigarette in his face. According to documents obtained by The Blast, Depp claims that Heard flew “into a rage” after she learned of his “intention to enter into a post-nuptial agreement.” Depp claims that at that point he had not had a drink in over a year, but retreated to a basement bar in the residence where the couple was staying in order to avoid Heard. “She followed him, screaming at him abusively,” Depp’s legal team writes. The filing goes on to claim that Heard became further enraged when she encountered Depp drinking vodka. At that point, she began hurling bottles. One of them shattered, resulting in Depp’s infamous severed finger. Allegedly not content with the damage she had done “Ms. Heard then put a cigarette out on [Depp’s] right cheek,” claims Johnny’s legal team. Heard’s lawyers have already fired back in a statement denying the accusation. “This allegation is absurd, offensive and categorically untrue,” the attorneys write. “ This photograph proves nothing – apart from the fact that Johnny Depp is desperate to throw out any outlandish allegation to deflect attention from his physical and ongoing psychological abuse of Amber Heard.” While it’s unclear how this latest allegation will be received by the judge, Depp’s legal team already scored a minor victory this week. The actor’s lawyers have been arguing that since Heard’s piece was published in D.C., the trial should take place in nearby Virginia, and not in California, as Heard’s attorneys wanted.
