Mickey Rourke Hot Groupie Pussy of the Day

I shouldn’t call this girl a groupie, I mean Miceky Rourke seems pretty cool and I’m sure his plastic face has never had an issue getting pussy, but I do think her lack of interest while talking on her phone with her friend in her native Russian that Rourke doesn’t understand goes a little something like this….”Oh my god, I met Mickey Rourke last night….He’s the guy from the movie the Wrestler…I told you there were famous people everywhere in America…of course I fucked him…yeah he’s alright he just looks in the mirror a lot…I don’t know how I should get him to marry me…see if he marries me I will be at all the events and he has friends who can get me work so that I can live the American dream…I know I am too hot for him…but seriously he won an Oscar…That’s like winning three coupons for rationed bread back home”…..if you know what I mean…. How Bitter Infighting May Break Up One of Tech’s Most Lucrative Conferences [Nerdfight]

High revenues and relatively low costs have made TechCrunch 50 the envy of its rivals, competing tech conferences like Demo and the Wall Street Journal ‘s D. If only its founders could stop fighting like rabid dogs. TechCrunch 50 , a Silicon Valley conference where hungry startups strut their stuff, is as volatile as it is profitable. The event nearly broke up last year amid a spat between co-organizers Michael Arrington , publisher of the blog iteration of TechCrunch, and Jason Calacanis , the Web entrepreneur. ” We fight like rabid dogs ,” Calacanis told VentureBeat, but would not “throw an amazing event like this out the window.” Or maybe they will: We’ve heard from multiple sources that a chasm has opened between Arrington and Calacanis again. Though we’ve had some help from said sources, it’s not hard to figure out what sorts of little feuds might derail one of the industry’s most lucrative conferences. We catalog some of them below, if only to provide other media-event organizers with a nice overview of traps to avoid. For their record, neither Arrington nor Calacanis would comment about their dispute for this post. Kidding around with puppets: Last year, Calacanis confirmed the conference series was finished in an interview with a puppet controlled by blogger Loren Feldman. He later unconvincingly tried to say he’d only been kidding . Purportedly his public statements about his spat with Arrington remain a point of irritation. Participating in rival events: Calacanis’ participation in Silicon Alley Insider’s Startup conference supposedly rubs Arrington the wrong way, even though it’s ostensibly a different sort of event. Conflicts of interest : Calacanis’ newly-launched Open Angel Forums are designed to help select startups get investment funding. At TechCrunch 50, Calacanis helps award prizes, potentially to the some of the very startups he helped raise money for. As for Arrington, one could argue he has an incentive to help reward startups who have been especially helpful to his coverage. That’s certainly enough basis for petty bickering (you don’t need much!). Big pointless online flame war: Calacanis became enmeshed in a big complicated online controversy and Arrington supposedly found his behavior in said fight tacky and classless. Which it kind of was. The gory details, if you care: A teenaged TechCrunch writer asked a startup founder to give the writer a free MacBook Air in exchange for an article on TechCrunch. The writer was publicly busted but the startup founder remained anonymous for a while. The startup founder, Sam Odio, emailed Calacanis out of the blue to ask advice on going public. Calacanis for some reason forwarded his email to Calacanis’ venemous blogger friend Loren Feldman, who promptly threatened to expose Odio’s not-so-terrible secret — he had originally promised to give that TechCrunch writer his bribe, “but not right now.” Odio blogged about Calacanis’ behavior and a shitstorm ensued . Just plain mean : Supposedly Calacanis has been gratuitously and exceptionally rude to some of the startups at TechCrunch 50. We’ve heard stories about Arrington being that way at other events. So, hey, maybe everyone just got on each other’s nerves, with the rudeness to other people. So there you have it: Avoid these pitfalls and your conference/event/sausage fest just might possibly avoid descending into vicious infighting. In the meantime we’ll see how long it takes before Calacanis and Arrington realize that only by taming their egos in the near-term can they play Silicon Valley kingmakers in the long term, thus allowing their egos to gloriously balloon to their fullest potential. Rob McElhenney & Kaitlin Olson: Expecting!

If you don’t know who Kaitlin Olson and Rob McElhenney are, we’re not surprised. But maybe you should, because they may just have the funniest baby ever. The stars of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, who are married, are expecting a new addition to “the gang” – their first child in August, the couple’s rep says. “Rob and I are so excited it’s stupid,” Olson said in a statement. “The last few years have been pretty amazing for us and just when we thought things couldn’t get any better, the greatest little thing in the world happened!” “We’re totally beside ourselves.” So are we, at the possibility of the ridiculous It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia quotes that could result from this. We put nothing past the cast of the FX cult hit. Kaitlin Olson and Rob McElhenney married in September 2008. It’s Always Sunny , which McElhenney created, stars in and executive produces, returns for Season 6 in September. Olson recently appeared in Leap Year with Amy Adams.

Pauly D: I Ain’t No Punk DJ!

As Paul “Pauly D” Delvecchio famously said in one of the classiest Jersey Shore quotes of Season 1, “I want girls to c*m in their pants when they hear my music.” The man is serious about his craft, clearly. So while he has no problem being labeled a reality star, he resents assertions that his career as a DJ is a mere novelty. The Rhode Island native knows people think he’s getting gigs thanks to his exposure on MTV’s hit show, but “I’ve been doing this for 12 years,” he told People . “I was DJ’ing six nights a week before the show, and I’m DJ’ing six nights a week now. A lot of people think I’m a reality-show DJ and that’s just not true at all.” Don’t mistake this guido for a small-timah! What has changed, undeniably, are his work locations and the crowd’s response. Pauly D recently signed on to spin this Spring at Las Vegas’ Palms Casino Resort. “I do get to spin in places I probably never would have been able to,” he said. “People want to take pictures with you and it’s great now. I’m having a lot of fun.” “I’m just living the dream right now.” He gets to DJ in Las Vegas and he’s seen J-Woww nude , all while experiencing the glory of a daily GTL routine. If that’s not living the dream, people, then what is?!

Assembly member Harriet Drummond just sent the posse after Dan "the desperado" Sullivan to retrieve the money he stole from our city’s treasury.

This is Resolution AR No. 2010-91, which Harriet Drummond, this liberal bloggers favorite Anchorage Assembly member, just submitted for consideratin on March 23. ANCHORAGE, ALASKA AR NO. 2010–91 A RESOLUTION OF THE ANCHORAGE MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY TO AUTHORIZE ENGAGING THE SERVICES OF INDEPENDENT LEGAL COUNSEL TO REVIEW AND REPORT TO THE ASSEMBLY ON THE LEGAL AND CONTRACTUAL OBLIGATIONS, IF ANY, AND THE AUTHORITY OF THE ASSEMBLY, IF ANY, REGARDING PAYMENT OF $193,000 IN MUNICIPAL FUNDS TO THE GEORGE M. SULLIVAN IRREVOCABLE LIFE INSURANCE TRUST, AND PROVIDING FOR AN APPROPRIATION. WHEREAS, pursuant to Assembly Memorandum No. AM 76-2010, the Assembly was requested by and on behalf of the Mayor to appropriate One Hundred Ninety Three Thousand Dollars ($193,000.00) from the Areawide General Fund (Fund 101) for disbursement to the George M. Sullivan Irrevocable Life Insurance Trust; and WHEREAS, Assembly Memorandum No. AM 76-2010 declared that disbursement would be made under a life insurance contract; and WHEREAS, Assembly Memorandum No. AM 76-2010 did not disclose that the George M. Sullivan Irrevocable Life Insurance Trust was administered by the Mayor in his private capacity as the son of George M. Sullivan and Trustee of the life insurance trust; and WHEREAS, Assembly Memorandum No. AM 76-2010 did not disclose that no life insurance policy was in place and no written life insurance contract existed; and WHEREAS, AR 2010-33 was passed and approved by the Assembly, on February 16, 2010, authorizing disbursement subject to receipt of proper documentation from the George M. Sullivan Irrevocable Life Insurance Trust; and WHEREAS, the full circumstances purporting to legally obligate the Municipality to make a payout of $193,000.00 in public funds are more complicated than provided in the summary under AM 76-2010; and WHEREAS, the payout of $193,000.00 in public funds for life insurance without a life insurance policy in place has raised many concerns in the mind of the public and one or more Assembly Members, including these questions: • What is the legal basis for asserting the existence of a life insurance policy or contract? • What is the legal basis for asserting a contractual obligation in the absence of a written contract? • What is the legal authority of the Salary and Emoluments Commission to authorize an employee benefit after employment has terminated? • Were the legal requirements, procedures and process under Charter Section 5.08 (c) properly followed? • What, if any, is the extent of a municipal obligation to make payment of $193,000 in life insurance without a life insurance policy? • What is the current Assembly’s authority to approve or disapprove a life insurance payment in the absence of a life insurance policy? • Is this disbursement recognized in the FY 2010 General Government Operating Budget? • What process should be used under the Ethics Code to ensure that an elected public official does not sit on both sides of a municipal transaction? • Under what public purpose are public funds being disbursed as life insurance? and WHEREAS, the current Mayor is also actively serving as Trustee of the George M. Sullivan Irrevocable Life Insurance Trust, creating a situation in which he serves on both sides of a significant financial transaction involving public funds; and WHEREAS, as Mayor, the incumbent is required to represent and act in the Municipality’s best interests; and WHEREAS, as Trustee of the George M. Sullivan Life Insurance Trust, the Trustee has a fiduciary duty to the Trust to represent and act in the best interests of the Trust and its beneficiaries; NOW, THEREFORE, the Anchorage Assembly resolves: 1. Because the events surrounding the creation and administration of a special benefit for the Honorable George M. Sullivan occurred after he was no longer in office and over the course of several mayoral successions without a full and public review before the Assembly, the Assembly authorizes an independent legal review to include the following: • The authority of the Salary and Emoluments Commission, after the mayor or other elected official has left elected office, to authorize a special life insurance benefit; • Whether a special life insurance benefit was legally effectuated for George M. Sullivan, when, and by whom or under what actions; • The legal obligations and risks to the Municipality concerning the special life insurance benefit (prior to payment); • The authority of the Mayor to request an appropriation when the Mayor also currently serves as Trustee of the George M. Sullivan Irrevocable Life Insurance Trust, without disclosure of the potential for conflict of interest; • The public purpose under which disbursement of public funds is allowed as life insurance proceeds, without a fair market life insurance policy or premium payments. • The authority of the Anchorage Assembly to approve an appropriation of public funds for this purpose. 2. The services of independent legal counsel shall be selected by the Internal Auditor, the Municipal Clerk and Assembly Counsel under a small procurement contract not to exceed [$5,000 – $10,000], and an appropriation of [$ 10,000] for this purpose is approved. 3. Until the Assembly is assured by independent legal counsel that payment of $193,000.00 in public funds is legally appropriate, the Mayor, in his private capacity as Trustee for the George M. Sullivan Irrevocable Trust, is respectfully requested to return any funds disbursed under AR 2010-33 to a special account to be held by the Municipality. PASSED AND APPROVED by the Anchorage Assembly this ______day of ____________, 2010. ______________________________ Chair ATTEST: ____________________________ Municipal Clerk Damn! It is about time SOMEBODY took Sullivan to task for emptying the city’s cash reserves while cutting services to its citizens! If you are late to the party and a little confused by this resolution just go here , here , and here and you will soon know why Anchorage residents are so angry. By the way, is it too early to draft Harriet Drummons to run for mayor of Anchorage? State Senator? How about Lisa’s job? (H/T to my friend, and fellow Alaskan blogger Phil Munger )

March 4th, Day of Action – CA student protests

Today, the March 4th Day of Action is occurring on college campuses throughout the country. In California students are protesting the state's decline in funding for public education at Cal State and UC schools. I've been following the action at my alma mater, UC Davis. The California Aggie newspaper has been live tweeting the events from the day. Hundreds of protesters were met with tear gas, bean bags and tasers. Two hours ago they reported: “Cops are beating people in the front. Arrests being made. Holy shit. Looks like tasers being used.” Were there protests at your school? What happened? Tell us your story. added by: joshuaheller
