Jill Duggar Protests Outside Planned Parenthood One Day After Women’s March

If you watch Counting On online , you probably already know that the Duggars have some extremely conservative religious and political views. Hell, even if you’ve never seen an episode, you’re probably vaguely aware of the Duggars far-right views on just about everything, particularly all matters related to sex and reproduction. We suppose it’s not surprising that a family that views all sex that’s not for the express purpose of procreation as sinful would take a hard-line stance on abortion. What is surprising is just how far the Duggars will go in service of their strict anti-choice views. In the past, they’ve compared abortion to the holocaust and gone to alienated viewers with their controversial belief that the termination of a pregnancy should be illegal even in cases of rape and incest, or where the life of the mother is at risk. One would think that the Josh Duggar sex scandals might have at least temporarily knocked the Duggars off their moral high horse, but if anything, it seems to have had the opposite effect. As though attempting to prove a point through overcompensation, the Duggars seem more resolute in their fundamentalist belief system than ever before. And it’s not just Jim Bob and Michelle who seem galvanized by both their family’s public humbling and by the election of Donald Trump. The latest to take up the fight against women’s rights is Jill Duggar, who is currently expecting her second child by husband Derick Dillard . The day after hundreds of thousands participated in the Women’s March on Washington and millions more showed their support around the world, Jill participated in a demonstration of her own. Jill posted the above text to her Instagram page yesterday. She captioned the image: “Join us today at 2:30 for the March for Life and/or at 3:30 at the support for life rally! #crosschurch #prolife #everylifematters” We didn’t look into the 40 Days NWA website, but we assume it’s a six-week program devoted to studying the lyrics of Eazy-E. Anyway, Jill seems to have met with more condemnation than support for her plans to prevent women from receiving necessary health services: “Just went and donated (more) money to Planned Parenthood! Judge not, lest ye be judged, Duggars,” wrote one commenter. “Marching against abortions is not pro-life, it’s pro-birth. If your family actually wanted to reduce the number of abortions (and not just control women’s bodies), you would support sex-education programs and contraceptive access. That’s how you reduce abortions,” wrote another. We imagine Jill was shocked to learn there are people who see this issue differently than she does. Then she went and marched with other people who think that folks who live near coasts exist in a bubble, and all her fears were laid to rest. View Slideshow: Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard Photos

Blake Shelton: Planning to Propose to Gwen Stefani on The Voice?!

Last we checked on Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani, the couple was going strong at the People’s Choice Awards . BS and GS certainly aren’t shy about their love, but they are careful about controlling how much of their life together goes public. Pretty much from the time they first hooked up, we’ve been hearing rumors about Gwen and Blake getting married , but both parties have been evasive when asked about plans to tie the knot. But that may be soon to change … Radar Online is reporting today that Shelton and Stefani are receiving more money  to return for future seasons than any other judges on The Voice. The reason seems to be that producers are well aware that viewers love ’em some Gwake chemistry, and the relationship has proven to be a ratings bonanza. “[Blake and Gwen] are getting paid an exceptional bonus that is significantly higher than the other judges to keep the spark alive on-camera,” a production source tells Radar. Of course, the novelty of the fact that two of the judges are dating will eventually wear off, which means Gwen and Blake may have to offer fans more of an insider’s view of their relationship if they want to keep the audience interested. The news of the bonus has led to speculation that Gwen and Blake might have promised producers something special. Like, for example, an on-air proposal during one of the show’s live segments. Obviously, that’s just speculation at this point, but makes an awful lot of sense. Without the expectation of that sort of event television, it wouldn’t make much sense for the network to offer Gwen and Blake significantly more cash than the other judges. After all, the tabloid interest in their relationship has begun to die down, and that will likely translate to diminishing returns in terms of ratings. Blake proposing to Gwen on the air would certainly boost interest in the show, however temporarily. But it seems like producers have some other tricks up their sleeve, as well: “The producers really want to see Gwen and Blake in competition more often this upcoming season, versus working with each other like they have in the past,” says the insider. View Slideshow: Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani: 11 Most Adorable PDA Moments “And, of course, there is a stipulation in their contract, which is more of a break-up clause,” the source claims. “If, for some reason, they call it quits, they are both required to finish out the remainder of their existing contracts.” Now that could make for some intense competition.

Beast Mode!!!! Super Bowl Ready Seattle Seahawks Offer Marshawn Lynch Huge Mutli-Million Contract Extension

Marshawn Lynch Gets Huge Contract Extension From Seahawks Will there be a press conference ?? Via NFL reports: The deal is believed to include more than $10 million for Lynch in the 2015 season alone. Lynch currently is slated to make $5 million in 2015, the final year of what originally was a four-year, $31 million deal. The Seahawks believe that Lynch, who has rushed for at least 1,200 yards in each of the past four seasons, has outplayed his contract, sources say. They want to reward him for his work. The new deal for Lynch has been a topic of discussion between Lynch’s agent Doug Hendrickson and the Seahawks for the last several weeks. He’s the heart-and-soul of their team, which they recognize, and they want him to retire a ‘Hawk. As for his compensation, Lynch could end up being the highest-paid running back not named Adrian Peterson using average-per-year as a measure. This is a stunning turnaround from where the Seahawks were with Lynch earlier in the season. For a variety of issues — including Lynch’s somewhat chilly relationship with coaches, his age and his hefty salary — the expectation was that Seattle wouldn’t bring Lynch back for another season. But the way Lynch has played and led this team to another Super Bowl forced the Seahawks to reverse course. All this after he held out of training camp last year and then saw the team move some money around to offer him a band aid-style contract solution. His 2014 salary went from $5 million to $6.5 million. In the last few weeks, the Seahawks made an offer for much more. That said, Lynch is an enigma. Sources close to him have said for months that if the Seahawks win the Super Bowl he could retire. Perhaps tonight there will be some answers. How do you feel about your huge contract extension Marshawn????? Marshawn: Welp.

Ride Or Die: Will Smith And Jada Not Divorcing Despite Freaky Pics With Becky Co-Star

Jada is sticking by her man. Will And Jada Not Divorcing Doesn’t matter if Will and Jada had marriage problems in the past, he will never leave her because that box is too good. According to US Magazine: No broken marriage here! Newly surfaced photos of Will Smith getting mighty close (and partially nude) with his young Focus costar Margot Robbie have sparked rumors that the actor has been cheating on his wife of 16 years Jada Pinkett Smith. However, sources reveal to Us Weekly that everything is still intact in the Smith household. “They’re not hooking up,” a source tells Us of Smith, 45, and the blonde Australian actress, 23. The rumors began after the costars took advantage of a photo booth that was available to them during the film’s wrap party. “That was a photo booth on set that the producers got for everyone,” a second insider explains to Us. “It was the last day of filming and everyone was taking pictures. They were just goofing around. Will is just like that. There’s nothing more to it.” As for his relationship with Pinkett Smith, the actor’s new friendship with Robbie hasn’t affected his marriage at all. “Everything with them is great,” the second source adds. The Hollywood A-list couple may be going strong, but Pinkett Smith did share a cryptic message via her personal Facebook page on Nov. 3. “We should never have the expectation to not make mistakes, we should only have the expectation to learn from them,” she wrote. This past July, she also shared that it would take a lot to “abandon” her famous husband. “I have been affected by gossip and I know people who have been, too. I’ve seen marriages destroyed by gossip. It is cruel,” Pinkett Smith previously said to Redbook magazine. “At the end of the day, all that matters is: Do you love what you see when you look in the mirror? That is it, baby.” She added: “What is the thing that Will could do to make me not love him? That would make me abandon him? I can’t think of one. I’m sorry. Except if he did something bad to the kids — now we’ve got a problem.” What do ya’ll expect with the swinger rumors about these two? Jada probably saw the pics and invited the Becky over for a smash session. WENN Continue reading

AP Breaking: Supremes’ Ruling ‘Casts Doubt’ on Chicago Handgun Ban

Lord have mercy, even when it hits him in the face, the Associated Press’s Mark Sherman won’t concede the obvious : “Cast doubt”? Is that what court rulings do now? A USA Today item has it right: Other sources describing the ruling accurately include:  CNN — “Court rules for gun rights, strikes Chicago handgun ban” Fox News — “High Court’s Big Ruling For Gun Rights.” From text: “Today’s ruling also invalidates Chicago’s handgun ban.” Reuters, as carried at the New York Times — “Supreme Court Rules Chicago Gun Ban Unconstitutional” As with the Washington, DC Heller case in 2008 , the real outrage is that the ruling was 5-4. VIDEO: Media Routinely Used ‘Conservative’ Label on Bush Nominees to Supreme Court; Obama Picks Always ‘Centrist’

When President Bush nominated John Roberts and Samuel Alito to the Supreme Court in 2005, the media did not hesitate to describe both men as “very conservative,” but when President Obama nominated Sonia Sotomayor in 2009 and Elena Kagan this year many in the press couldn’t seem to identify any liberal ideology. The Media Research Center has produced a video compilation of examples to further demonstrate the obvious double standard. [Audio available here ] During ABC’s live special coverage of Roberts’s nomination on July 19, 2005, then This Week host and former Democratic operative George Stephanopoulos declared: “This is a very conservative man with a strong paper trail that proves it.” NPR’s Nina Totenberg could hardly contain her urge to label, using the word “conservative” several times during a July 23 appearance on Inside Washington: “John Roberts is a really conservative guy…he’s a conservative Catholic….[President Bush] has given conservatives a hardline conservative.” The same labeling followed Alito’s nomination months later. CBS’s Bob Schieffer opened the October 31 Evening News by proclaiming: “Conservatives wanted a conservative on the Supreme Court, and said the President ought to risk a fight in the Senate to get one. Their wishes have been fulfilled.” Later that evening, on a special 7PM ET hour edition of CNN’s The Situation Room, anchor Wolf Blitzer described: “…there is a new nomination and new controversy. A battle shapes up as the president picks a staunch conservative who could help reshape the U.S. Supreme Court.” Compare those characterizations of Roberts and Alito with how Stephanopoulos introduced Sotomayor to Good Morning America viewers on May 1, 2009: “She’s built up a strong centrist record on the court.” On the May 27 CBS Evening News, anchor Katie Couric scratched her head when it came to Sotomayor’s political views: “Now pundits usually label judges as either liberal or conservative, but that won’t be easy with Judge Sotomayor.” Meanwhile, Totenberg actually remained consistent, arguing Obama’s nominee was actually on the Right: “…she’s more conservative than some members of the Supreme Court, including Justice Scalia, perhaps.” With Kagan, on CBS’s April 11 Face the Nation, legal analyst Jan Crawford described the broad support the potential nominee would receive: “…she’s got some support among conservatives because she hired a lot of those conservative law professors at Harvard.” On the May 10 Good Morning America, ABC World News anchor Diane Sawyer explained how Kagan “is expected to play a role as somewhat of a conciliator, the bridge across the conservative and liberal wings of the Court.” Like Totenberg with Sotomayor, on the May 11 CBS Early Show co-host Maggie Rodriguez floated the idea that Kagan was conservative: “she may actually shift the Court to the Right, compared with Justice Stevens.”      As evidence of Kagan’s staunch liberalism comes out in her confirmation hearings, one wonders if the media will finally be willing to accurately describe her left-wing views.

David Weigel Explains Away Journolist E-mails by Claiming to be a Jerk

Former Washington Post writer David Weigel has attempted to explain away his Journolist e-mails attacking conservatives by claiming he was a trash-talking thoughtless jerk. If you think that self-damnation was bad, at least it was much better than admitting something even closer to the truth which would be that he deviously allowed people to think of him as a conservative. In fact, he is still lamely making that conservative claim in his Big Journalism article but first the jerk confession: …I treated the list like a dive bar, swaggering in and popping off about what was “really” happening out there, and snarking at conservatives. Why did I want these people to like me so much? Why did I assume that I needed to crack wise and rant about people who, usually for no more than five minutes were getting on my nerves? Because I was stupid and arrogant, and needlessly mean… Unfortunately, Weigel proved that he still remains a jerk by continuing to claim that he was somehow conservative: I interned at the libertarian Center for Individual Rights in the summer of 2001. I supported the Iraq War and crashed an anti-war protest on my campus. I voted in Republican primaries in 2002 and 2004. (Since I was in Illinois, I voted in 2004 for Jack Ryan to get the GOP’s nomination for Senate, to oppose Barack Obama. I’m better off than one of those guys.) Weigel still tries to convince us of his one-time conservative credentials despite the fact that in the three presidential elections since 2000 he voted for Nader, Kerry, and Obama. Gee! What a “conservative!” Despite his pretend conservatism, Weigel just can’t seem to understand why people think he has misrepresented himself: Still, this was hubris. It was the hubris of someone who rose — objectively speaking — a bit too fast, and someone who misunderstood a few things about his trade. It was also the hubris of someone who thought the best way to be annoyed about something was to do it publicly. This is the reason I’m surprised at commentary accusing me of misrepresenting myself. Except that liberal Journolist was supposed to be private and Weigel wrote there in the expectation that it would remain so. Dave’s misrepresentation mode continues.
