On Sunday, millions of Americans gathered with loved ones to celebrate the resurrection of a towering figure who many believe to be the foretold savior of mankind. We’re talking, of course, about Jon Snow. But in addition to one of the final Game of Thrones nights, yesterday was also significant because it was Easter … or as the Duggars call it, Resurrection Day. Yes, the Duggars like to keep the focus on JC during their holiday festivities (and during everything else they do in life, to be honest). And so, Easter becomes Resurrection Day and Christmas is Jesus’ birthday. (We’re pretty sure their kids would have gotten the point of the celebration without the name change, but whatever floats your ark.) Anyway, Michelle spoke about the family’s celebration in 2014, just months before the Josh Duggar sex scandals led to the cancelation of her first reality show, 19 Kids and Counting. “We call it ‘Resurrection Day’ because we really want to make the focus and emphasis on the fact that it’s the resurrection of Jesus Christ,” Michelle explained at the time. It seems that in most ways, the Duggar festivities resemble those you would find in many homes across America. “We sing songs, we draw pictures of the cross, and we make cookies,” the mother of 19 added. “We will make cookies and decorate them, and then we memorize little verses,” she adds. Okay, so Easter isn’t really a cookie-baking, song-singing occasion for most of us, but the whole thing sounds pretty normal by Duggar standards … until you get to the pickles. Apparently, each of the Duggar children gets a jar of pickles in their Easter basket. “The Duggars love pickles. I think it probably started that when my mom is pregnant she craves pickles, that is the one thing,” Jessa Duggar once told In Touch . “Every time we see her eating pickles we say ‘Are you pregnant?’” It gets weirder. Joy-Anna revealed that when a Duggar takes his or her first bite of a pickle, it’s considered a monumental event. “Any time a family member tries a pickle for the first time, we always go around and take videos and pictures and everyone comes around to watch their facial expression,” she said. Source: Handout / Getty Rapper YNW Melly , who was charged in February on two counts of first-degree murder for allegedly shooting and killing two of his friends, is facing the death penalty. Melly, real name Jamell Demons allegedly shot and killed YNW Juvy (real name Chris Thomas) and YNW Sakchaster (real name Anthony Williams) in October of 2018. According to police, Melly shot and killed the two men, ages 20 and 21 in the backseat of a car, then drove around for an extended period of time with the bodies until he could create an alibi. Police claim that Melly then got an associates, YNW Bortlen (real name Cortlen Henry) to drive the bodies of Williams and Thomas to the hospital and tell authorities that the four were victims of a drive-by shooting. Both Melly and Bortlen claim they are innocent in the killings. XXL has obtained court documents showing that the State of Florida is seeking the death penalty against Melly because they can prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the rapper “killed his friends for financial gain” and that “the murder was speciously heinous, atrocious or cruel, and he committed homicide in a cold, calculated and premeditated manner.” Florida, along with Texas is one of 30 states in the United States where capital punishment is legal. With only five episodes remaining in Game of Thrones, one would think the epic drama wouldn’t have time for everyone to basically sit around the campfire and tell stories. But that’s exactly what transpired on Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 2. There were no shocking deaths, no huge secrets revealed (to the audience) and really no storyline advancement of any kind. Instead, with the Night King expected to arrive at Winterfell within hours, there was only a look at what nearly all our beloved characters were thinking the evening before their presumed death. For long-time followers of the books and the series, this was likely a welcome, tear-filled hour in which they got to slow down and appreciate the journey/saga of the past several years. For those who tune in wondering whose head will be separated from its body next, this likely felt like a giant waste of time. On which end of the spectrum did you fall? The two major revelations from the installment were both follow-ups to how the Season 8 premiere concludes: Jaime Lanniser stood in front of Dany, whose father he murdered, and Sansa, whose brother he shoved out a window, and pleaded his case. He explained that he was a changed man and Cersei was a liar and he just wanted to help fight for the survival of mankind at this point. Dany was still itching to avenge her dad’s death, until Brienne stood up and delivered an all-time speech about how honorable Jaime acted when he held her as his captive and how she would gladly stand by her side in this fight. This was enough for Sansa to hear and Jaime’s life was spared. This led to one of the most emotional scenes of all-time, as Jaime later knighted his unexpected best friend and most loyal supporter: Jon, meanwhile, chose the worst time ever to tell Dany about his heritage and his true identity. He shocked her with this information mere seconds before the horn blared to alert everyone that the Night King was about to make his violent presence felt. Dany was less taken aback that she’d been banging her nephew and more stunned that Jon ist he rightful heir to the Iron Throne. This ought to make for some awkward pillow talk if both survive the war to come. Elsewhere, though, we weren’t kidding above: Everyone just sat around and talked. Tyrion noted the irony that he and his brother were at Winterfell, essentially fighting for the Starks after trying to have that family wiped out for so many years. Sam reminded the few remaining men of The Wall that he has killed a White Walker and that Gilly and Little Sam would be safe in the crypts while he helped battle the dead. Arya totally had sex with Gendry because she wanted to experience intercourse before she died. Sansa and Dany has a nice talk, bonding over their hatred of Cersei and love for Jon… until the former reminded the latter that she wants to control the North even after Dany is anointed to the Iron Throne. Tormund told a story about how he killed a giant as a boy and then suckled at the teat of the giant’s wife for three months and that’s why he’s so big and strong. No, really, he told this story. Sam gifted Jorah with his family’s sword as a tribute to Jorah’s father — and because it was too heavy for Sam to use in battle. Grey Worm promised to take Missandei to the beach after the major fight was over. And, lastly, Tyrion watched from the top of a castle wall when the White Walkers showed up and the episode cut to black. Were you among those disappointed that no one of significance has died yet? That we just spent an entire hour chatting about feelings and bringing up memories instead of drawing swords and flying around with dragons? Or was this the perfect appetizer before what appears to be the ultimate main course of blood and death next week? The ideal build-up for a battle seven-plus seasons in the making? Becaus the point of Game of Thrones isn’t simply that lots of people die; it’s that lots of people who we’ve grown to know and love die after a legendary voyage, one the viewers have gone through right along with everyone on screen. Death may be inevitable, but this was the rare opportunity for Tyrion, Davos and company to actually stop and appreciate their lives . Because, as teased in the trailer below, there’s no debating it at this point: Winter is absolutely, positively, 100% coming in a few days. And ain’t no way most people are making it out alive. J ussie Smollett ‘s career has taken a huge hit since he was accused of staging a hate crime. This week, it was reported that Smollett is no longer considered to play the lead role in the Broadway revival of “ Take Me Out ,” which is about a about a mixed-race baseball. Also, there have been several reports that this will be Smollett last season on “Empire.” Now, his older brother, JoJo Smollett is speaking out in an essay for BET . He slams the Chicago Police Department, the Osundairo brothers and the court of public opinion. See Also: Complete Timeline Of Jussie Smollett Investigation In the lengthy essay , JoJo writes, “Within less than three months, his life has been turned upside down as my family and I have witnessed him endure unrelenting attacks to his character and reputation. Like so many others, this entire process quickly devolved from a focus on him as a victim of assault, to him being falsely accused and held responsible for a crime that was perpetrated against him. To define this experience as unjust would be an understatement.” He also takes aim at the Osundairo brothers, accusing them of changing their story, “Jussie had already refused to sign a complaint against the Osundarios, convinced that these men, one who he had considered a friend and the other an acquaintance, could not be his attackers. Most importantly, detectives refused to show Jussie video, photos, or any evidence to prove they were the attackers. The fact that these two brothers, who in the final hour confessed to attacking my brother yet say it was Jussie who told them to, is all the evidence that the police and the general public needed to be convinced, should be frightening to everyone.” He continued, “With not one inkling of solid evidence, many believed the false witness testimony from two suspects who turned into witnesses, even though they lacked standard credibility. It was under-reported that one of the “witnesses” had previously been arrested for attempted murder ending with a plea deal for aggravated battery, or that the brothers repeatedly expressed homophobia on their social media in the past. Additionally, it was never reported that they changed their story while under police interrogation.” Olabinjo Osundairo was charged with attempted murder in 2011. The Chicago Sun-Times reported two months ago, “Court records show that Olabinjo Osundairo was charged with attempted murder in a 2011 stabbing that occurred in the 4200 block of North Ashland. That is less than a block from the home that police raided in the Smollett investigation, where they recovered personal effects, including cell phones, a source said.” Olabinjo Osundairo allegedly reached a plea deal “with prosecutors and pleaded guilty to aggravated battery; he was sentenced to two years of probation and ordered to pay a $674 fine.” JoJo rips into the Chicago Police Department, pointing out their inconsistencies, “The Superintendent of the Chicago Police Department announced publicly that Jussie’s motive in staging an attack was so he could make more money from ‘Empire.’ Fox immediately said that wasn’t true but the police chief never withdrew his accusation. The chief also stated as fact that Jussie had sent himself the threatening letter that arrived at the ‘Empire’ production offices weeks before the attack. The FBI then refuted this claim. Again, the chief did not correct his accusations. Letting it float for the public to either believe or not.” He also added, “The entire police case rested on two witnesses that lacked credibility and there was no physical evidence tying Jussie to this crime.” You can read the full essay, here . On Jan. 29, while walking to a subway, Smollett claimed two men yelled racial and homophobic slurs at him, investigators told The Hollywood Reporter . They allegedly punched and poured bleach on him while one of the suspects put a rope around his neck. As they fled the scene, Smollett told police they said, “This is MAGA country.” The city of Chicago is now suing Smollett for a half a million dollars. Kim Foxx , the Cook County State Attorney, has been attacked by the Chicago Police and is calling for a prob into the 16 felony counts being dropped. Jussie Smollett has maintained his innocence. Alaskan Bush People star Matt Brown revealed exactly how he started drinking again . Now, he’s focused upon his regained sobriety and living his life … a considerable distance away from his parents. A new report says that this is just how Matt likes it — because he doesn’t want much to do with the rest of the Browns. According to a new report by RadarOnline , Matt Brown is miles away from the new Browntown in Washington State. “Matt is living with his girlfriend in California right now,” an insider divulges. And he wouldn’t have it any other way. “He has no desire to be anywhere near his parents,” the source characterizes. “And,” the insider adds. “Really wants nothing to do with them.” Matt recently completed a stint in rehab. That inpatient treatment was followed by sobriety meetings, therapy, and a sober coach. Matt spent time in L.A. while his mother was in town. Ami still gets multiple check-ups a year to ensure that her lung cancer has not returned. Fortunately, the Brown family owns a Beverly Hills mansion. Apparently, Matt isn’t the only member of the Brown family who is tired of being cooped up in the wilderness. “Rain cannot wait to turn 18,” the source claims. Rain is currently 16 years old and has been her family’s de facto spokesperson since she was 14. Devastating news today out of the entertainment industry: Mya-Lecia Naylor, a British actress best known for her roles on the programs Almost Never and Millie Inbetween, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday. She was 16 years old. The tragedy was confirmed late Wednesday evening by CBBC, which released the following statement: We are so sorry to have to tell you that Mya-Lecia, who you will know from ‘Mille Inbetween’ and ‘Almost Never’, has very sadly died. Mya-Lecia was a much loved part of the BBC Children’s family, and a hugely talented actress, singer and dancer. We will miss her enormously and we are sure that you will want to join us in sending all our love to her family and friends. It remains unclear at this time just what caused the death of this rising British star. In a statement of her own to E! News, Alice Webb, Director at BBC Childrens said the following: “We are distraught and so terribly sad to hear the news about Mya. She has shone so brightly on our screens, both in Millie Inbetween and Almost Never, and it’s unthinkable that she won’t be part of our journey going forward. “She was hugely popular with our audience, a very talented actress, dancer and singer, and a real role model for her young fans.” All we can verify at the moment, courtesy of Naylor’s agents, A&J Management, is that the young actress collapsed prior to her passing. Aside from her acting credits, Naylor was an aspiring model and singer. She got her start as a toddler on the beloved British sitcom Absolutely Fabulous. From there, Mya-Lecia booked roles in television movies and miniseries before landing her biggest role on the CBBC series Millie Inbetween. Following four years on the show, she transitioned over to the CBBC comedy/drama Almost Never. The official Instagram account for this latter series also mourned Naylor’s death last night, sharing the photo below along with a heartfelt statement that reads: Our thoughts are with Mya-Lecia’s family, friends and everyone that loved her at this very sad time. RIP Mya-Lecia. Many other tributes have also been posted online. For example, this is what I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here star Emily Atack, who previously worked with Naylor, wrote: She was a beautiful and talented girl.
