By Jocelyn Vena Photo: MTV News The new year might still be a few months off, but the always-ambitious Taylor Swift is already cooking up some big projects for 2012. With her new album , full of “sad” songs, already in the planning stages, Swift excitedly dished that it’s not the only big thing she has up her sleeve for next year. Her arena-filling, celeb-frequented Speak Now Tour continues chugging along through the early part of 2012, and her perfume, Wonderstruck , is now out on the market, giving fans the chance to smell like the pop star. But, Swift is also making time for some other projects she thinks will have her fans excited. The singer told MTV News she’s working on “some surprise projects that may or may not happen, and possibly some acting.” “I’ve just been so excited about what’s gonna happen in the next year,” she said. “I’m also really excited about [the next album]. I’ve been writing all the time. I’ve been writing so much for the new record. I can’t believe I’m saying that already: It comes out in a year, but I’m already excited about it.” Before we officially ring in the new year, Swift shared that she’s looking forward to the tail end of 2011, with the holidays and her 22nd birthday still to celebrate. “I’m excited about the holidays,” she said. “I love Christmas. Is it just us or is it a little ironic that “thirsty” a** Rihanna is promoting bottled water? Pop star Rihanna is spearheading a new campaign for international charity UNICEF. The Umbrella singer is one of four celebrities who are taking part in the Tap Project – offering fans the chance to win a collection of bottled TAP water. Other stars joining the 23-year-old are Disney queen Selena Gomez, country superstar Taylor Swift and Entourage actor Adrian Grenier. The project encourages fans to sign onto the UNICEF Tap website and donate $5 towards the cause. Once fans donate they will be entered into a competition to win ‘The Ultimate Deluxe Platinum Celebrity Tap Pack. The Pack features four limited edition bottles of water from Gomez, Rihanna, Swift and Grenier. Each celebrity has their face etched on their own bottle with the word Tap printed on it. The website markets the water with the slogan, ‘Rihanna, now collaborating with her kitchen sink.’ It also makes a tongue in cheek statement about the price. ‘Only $5 to win some ridiculously famous water,’ it says. ‘The Ultimate Deluxe Platinum Celebrity Tap Pack (Limited Edition) includes bottles of real tap water from celebrities more famous than you,’ ‘Contribute to the UNICEF Tap Project for a chance to win this luxurious and desire collection of water from the most famous celebrities in world history. ‘History. Yes, the history of the world.’ Every dollar from fans entry helps UNICEF provide clean, safe water to a child in need to 40 days. By Jocelyn Vena Kellie Pickler Photo: MTV News NEW YORK — This season, Ellen DeGeneres joined “American Idol” as the fourth judge, replacing Paula Abdul. And while she’s still getting her footing on the show alongside veteran “Idol” judges Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson, and even Kara DioGuardi in her second season, former “American Idol” contestant and CMT Awards nominee Kellie Pickler is rooting for DeGeneres as the show’s newest star. “I’ve not seen the show, but I love Ellen,” Pickler gushed to MTV News on Monday night on the Dressed to Kilt red carpet , where she strutted her stuff on the runway alongside Gerard Butler, Joan Jett and Sean Connery. “She’s like my favorite person in the world,” Pickler said. “I’m sure she’s doing great.” Why hasn’t Pickler been watching the show that kick-started her career? Well, asked that question a year ago at the same event, Pickler chalked it up to a hectic touring schedule . “I have not been able to watch it religiously, ’cause I’m on the road a lot,” she explained. “So I don’t really get to follow any television show, but I do love the show.” At last year’s event, Pickler took time out to give some advice to the “Idol” hopefuls, pointers that seem just as useful for this year’s competition. “I think it’s all about having a good time, and as long as you’re enjoying yourself, success is defined by happiness,” she said. “So just have fun and enjoy it, and pick songs that you love and just have a good time.” What do you think of Ellen DeGeneres’ judging skills so far this season? The band has partnered with MTV to give 300 lucky fans the chance to attend a performance of “Idiot” during opening week. Beginning Tuesday (April 6) and running through Sunday, fanatics can go to AmericanIdiot.MTV.com to win tickets to a special April 22 performance at New York’s St. James Theatre. “We are really excited to partner with MTV to introduce ‘American Idiot’ to our fans,” said Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong. “We’ve had an amazing relationship with them throughout our career, and the network and its viewers have always been supportive no matter what we’ve thrown at them.” But if you can’t make it to New York, don’t fret. Starting on April 16, MTV will air “Green Day Rocks Broadway,” a half-hour, behind-the-scenes look at the making of the musical, featuring exclusive interviews with the band and “American Idiot” cast members, rehearsal footage and fan reactions. The special will premiere on Friday, April 16 at 7 p.m. ET/PT on MTV, and will also air on MTV2 (Saturday, April 17 at 12 p.m. ET/PT), mtvU (Saturday, April 17 at 5 p.m. ET/PT) and MTV Hits (Monday, April 19 at 1 p.m. ET/PT).
