Ke$ha Calls Out Britney Spears for Lip-Synching "Bull$hit"

A couple weeks ago, we were criticized for writing that Adam Lambert blasted Susan Boyle’s album and rendition of “Wild Horses.” Fans of the American Idol finalist thought that was a misrepresentation of his comments. But make no mistake now: Ke$ha has very much torn into Britney Spears. In a new interview, the outspoken singer was asked about Britney’s habit of lip-synching during concerts and replied : “I think that’s bull$hit. I don’t think that’s fair at all for people who are going to see the show. If you are going to be a singer, you should sing. If you are going to be a dancer, you should dance.” “If you are going to do a combination of the two, you should make it very clear when you are singing and very clear when you are dancing. I would never do that to my fans… It’s treating people as if they are too stupid to realize you are not actually singing… I would rather be off and be real and genuine about it to my fans.” This isn’t the first time Spears has been called out for pretending to sing live. A few months ago, fans in Australia walked out of Britney’s Circus tour due to the singer’s shoddy lip-synching and general performance. What do you think of Ke$ha’s comments? Fair or foul?

Selena Gomez Says Next Album Will Have ‘Reggae Sound’

‘It’s kind of different,’ she says of sound of new songs. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Christina Garibaldi Selena Gomez Photo: Courtesy of Hollywood Records Selena Gomez is currently working on a slightly harder follow-up to her 2009 debut album, Kiss & Tell. The album, which she released with her band The Scene, was a pop record and Gomez recently told MTV News that for her sophomore effort she wants to go a bit funkier and a bit edgier. “We were gonna do a deluxe edition of my album, but we started on some songs, so we figured, ‘Why not? Let’s just go for a second one,’ ” she explained. “It’s kind of different — older — and it’s kind of got, like, a reggae sound.” Gomez is only in the early stages of the album-making process. Currently the band is trying to “fill it out,” but she knows she’d like to see if she can re-create the vibe from her single “Naturally” — but she’s unsure if she’s willing to take on the pressure of being the album’s main songwriter. “I don’t want it all to be on me,” Gomez said. So what about possible collaborators? “Well, I want to work with the producers who did “Naturally’ [Antonina Armato, Tim James and Devrim Karaoglu]. They are so sweet,” she said. “I’d love to work with Dr. Luke. I think he’s awesome,” she added about the “I Kissed a Girl” hitmaker. Gomez noted that on her first record, she made sure she picked tunes that her fans could easily relate to. “I wanted to make sure, A, I can relate to it and B, my fans can relate to it, and it’s something that I went through,” she explained. “And all of those songs are things that I went through, and that’s why I put that all together.” Related Artists Selena Gomez

Robin Thicke Rides ‘Rollacoasta’ With ‘Amazing Talent’ Estelle

‘We’re just talking about the roller coaster of romance,’ Thicke tells MTV News on the video’s set. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Kelly Marino Robin Thicke Photo: MTV News Robin Thicke isn’t shy about hooking up with the ladies to make soulful, sexy duets. Having already worked with Leighton Meester and Nicki Minaj , it was time for Thicke to recruit some vocals from across the pond. For his song “Rollacoasta,” Thicke brought British chanteuse Estelle along for the ride. The collaboration was a perfect fit, Thicke said, especially since he had Estelle in mind when he started working on the Sex Therapy song. Plus, the pair have a history, having performed several shows together in the past. “She’s just an amazing talent,” he told MTV News on the set of the music video for “Rollacoasta.” “She’s a rapper. She’s a singer. She’s a writer. So it was really meant to be, and when I had this record, I was thinking to myself [that] it was perfect [for Estelle].” The song is all about the ups and downs of love, as the title suggests. And while the song’s subject matter is deep, Thicke wanted to keep the video’s vibe a little lighter. “The song is about the roller coaster you go through in a single relationship, but in this video, we’re just talking about the roller coaster of romance,” he explained. “We’re trying to throw a nice little house party that’s representative of the house parties that I have at my house, which is classy, sexy, wild, naughty all at the same time.” Thicke also recently released a provocative new video for “Sex Therapy.” Related Photos Robin Thicke Hosts Sex Therapy Album Release Party Related Artists Robin Thicke

Ludacris’ Conjure Mixtape A Grab Bag For Fans

‘I wanna give all my fans something for free,’ Chris says, in Mixtape Daily. By Shaheem Reid Ludacris Photo: MTV News This Week’s Main Pick Street King : Ludacris Holding It Down For : ATL Mixtape Album : Ludacris Presents Conjure: A Hustler’s Spirit Real Spit : The stylistic and lyrical monster Chris Bridges pours his rap magma on tracks like his official Battle of the Sexes blast-off banger “How Low” and Snoop Dogg’s instrumental for “I Wanna Rock.” “I did a verse to the beat,” Chris said in Los Angeles last week. “I love the beat so much. That’s one of the beats that comes on and you feel instant gratification. Somebody put my verse sandwiched in between the Jay and the Snoop verses [on the] G-Mix. It’s all good. I just want people to hear it. Whatever it is, y’all just need to listen to it.” While that freestyle didn’t make it to the Conjure mixtape, the iconic Southerner has an entire grab bag of flows for you. “Before the album, after the album, I’m just in a space where I’m inspired,” he says. “I’m inspired by beats of course, the ones that are on Battle of the Sexes. But even beyond that, I’m jumping on stuff. It’s my exercise. I wanna give all my fans something — [the ones] that have been supporting me for the last 10 years — something for free.” The mixtape’s title has a dual meaning. “It’s as simple as this. Spirit has a double meaning,” Luda explains. “When you talk about spirits, you talk about liquors, as in Conjure [cognac]. Then my spirit, I have a hustler’s spirit. People that listen to the mixtape have a hustler’s spirit. It’s a lot of people out there getting money. That’s basically what this thing is about. Even in the rap game, you have to sell records, we hustle. This is for the hustlers. Simple as that.” Chris’ Battle of the Sexes features appearances by Nicki Minaj, Lil’ Kim, Eve and others. It hits retailers on March 9. Joints To Check For
