Dean Unglert Before The Bachelorette’s Hometown Dates: PLEASE Be Nice About My Dad!

It’s that time again for The Bachelorette ‘s hometown dates — always illuminating and often fateful for contestants. Dean Unglert is a favorite this year, and of course he’s one of the suitors who’s getting a hometown date with Rachel Lindsay. Dean’s family’s come up before, so he’s taken to the interwebs to issue a plea for religious tolerance — because his dad, as you may remember, is a Sikh. If you’re scratching your head for a moment and wondering who takes issue with Sikhs, the issue is a little more complicated than that. Sikhism is, like every faith, complicated, but essentially it’s a panentheistic religion believing in a single God who permeates and transcends every aspect of the universe. Many people minority faiths see discrimination and mockery, particularly when they are poorly understood by the culture in which they live. Unfortunately, two realities of Sikhs have led them to face real violence from bigots. Sikhs wear turbans over their uncut hair as a matter of religious expression. While Sikhism accepts converts (like, say, Dean’s father), they do not actively seek to convert anyone, and because of that there is a powerful ethnic association for Sikhs. The result is that you have brown-skinned people wearing turbans and, well, bigots aren’t generally known for their cultured educations. In the eyes of the ignorant, Sikhs look like Muslims. (And we’re talking about bigots here, so they see Muslims as targets for violence) Horrible hate crimes have been committed against Sikhs, which would be vile enough on its own. But in many cases it seems to be a case of mistaken identity fueled by Islamophobia.  Dean Unglert has described his father as “eccentric” in the past, and received criticism for that by Sikh fans of the show. Conscious of bias and prejudice within the culture, Dean took to Instagram to ask people to not be dicks about his dad, basically. “Hometowns are 2 days away! ..and I’m asking for a favor: when I said my father was eccentric, I was not referring to his Sikh faith or the turban he wears on his head.” He’d already clarified that, but it’s good to repeat it again. Someone being of a minority faith shouldn’t be seen as a goofy quirk, you know? “I’m not asking you to spare his feelings (or mine) but instead to be cognizant and accepting of the millions of people that belong to the Sikh community.” That’s so important. Representation on television is important, and the folks at home can learn a lot that way. But none of that works if people ridicule or fear someone else because they’re different, you know? “Although he and I are not close, I respect my father’s decision to follow his heart and pursue the life he has chosen.” That’s all that you can ask for, you know? “Let us not criticize him for his appearance or his beliefs because by doing so we are disparaging an entire faith and culture that includes millions of people.” That’s such an important statement. “And I know we are all better than that. That is all (for now) #endrant HAPPY SATURDAY PEOPLE” Dean is just so charming, you know? As you might recall, he’s a start-up recruiter who has his mother’s initials tattooed to his chest. So … his job is very Millennial and his personality is more than a little quirky. Honestly, Dean is likable even when he’s shading another contestant . Add to that his boyish good looks that are vaguely ( vaguely !) reminiscent of The Flash ‘s Grant Gustin, and you’ve got a strong contender. Then you throw in this very sensitive plea for people to respect his dad’s faith, which is shared by millions. He’s kind of a dream, right? Of course, sadly, we already know that Rachel isn’t going to choose Dean. Dean Unglert was spotted on set for  Bachelor in Paradise , which is amazing for that show but not great news for his role on The Bachelorette . (It also means that he won’t be The Bachelor ) Accidental spoilers, much? You’d think that if this charming guy isn’t Rachel’s pick, she’d be going with the handsome Peter Kraus. But actually we’re pretty sure that we know who Rachel will choose on The Bachelorette . View Slideshow: The Bachelorette Suitors: Meet Rachel Lindsay’s Men!

Audrey Roloff Baby Bump Watch: 30 Weeks & Counting!

Who wears short shorts? Audrey Roloff wears short shorts in the latest glimpse this Little People, Big World star has given fans of her impressive baby bump! The expecting mother – who has kept followers well apprised of her belly, her excitement, her hopes, her fears and other aspects of her first pregnancy – has once again taken to Instagram and provided us with with an adorable update. Before we reveal the latest glimpse at Roloff’s 30-weeks-along tummy, however, let’s take a look at how she celebrated Father’s Day last Sunday. She did so with very kind words for husband Jeremy, of course. “Happy first Father’s Day babe,”Audrey wrote as a caption to the photo above, adding: “Even though our little girl is still growing in my belly, you are already her father and she is already our daughter. I cannot wait to watch you teach, protect, encourage, pray with, and love our little girl. “For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb.” Psalms 139:13. Roloff often combines words about her soulmate with words about God . She often shares beautiful photos of her pregnant body as well, such as THIS ONE from a week ago and the following one from a day ago: “30 weeks!!! Baby girl is healthy and non-stop moving this bumpin belly,” Audrey informed followers with the caption to this image.” The excitement emanating from this reality star over first-time motherhood really is palpable. She continued as follows: I still can’t get over how miraculous pregnancy is. I’m so humbled and honored that the Lord would entrust me with this baby to grow, nurturer, instruct, and love. Jeremy and I are getting more and more excited to meet her, but also feeling less and less prepared. We are 10 weeks from my due date (August 31st) and we still don’t have anything for baby yet… not to mention our house is currently a construction zone… so we are living with my parents… No shortage of excitement and chaos over here;) Rest assured, Audrey: No parents have ever felt truly prepared to welcome their first baby into the world. It would almost be strange for you to NOT feel a mixture of excitement, chaos and anxiety right now. It must help the couple, however, that Zach Roloff and Tori Roloff welcomed a son into the world last month as well. They’ve been able to witness their loved ones caring for a newborn and adjusting their lives accordingly, just a couple months before they go through the same major life change. Audrey and Jeremy dated for three years… got married in 2014… and announced their pregnancy in February. They later learned that they’re expecting a little girl. And TLC viewers will most definitely have a chance to meet her. Earlier this week, Amy Roloff confirmed that the series will return for Season 14, writing on Facebook that new episodes will return in September. That’s right around when Audrey is due. Hooray! We can’t wait to meet her impending bundle of joy! View Slideshow: Little People, Big World Cast: Then vs. Now

Khloe Kardashian: I’m Still Obsessed with My Dad’s Ghost!

The passing of Robert Kardashian Sr. clearly impacted all of his children. And while arguably the long-term effects have been the most detrimental on Rob — poor Rob — it’s clear that Khloe’s still massively attached to her father. So attached, in fact, that she seeks communications from him on  Hollywood Medium . This is definitely not the first time that Hollywood Medium Tyler Henry has read for Khloe, but she keeps coming back for more. Previously, he’s met with her and with Kris Jenner for the taping of his own show. Before that, he appeared on a Season 11 episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians , where he got a sense of the smell of neckties the moment that he entered her home. And once Khloe got a taste of that opportunity to cross-promote her brand spiritual experience, she knew that she had to repeat it. Back when he met Kris, Tyler had mentioned getting something about a little monkey, but Kris Jenner had had no idea what he meant — but Khloe did. Khloe had known that it referred to a stuffed monkey that had been her father’s since childhood and which he’d had on his hospice bed with him. Understandably, Kris Jenner had been less focused on the stuffed animal during her ex-husband’s final days. Khloe, however, had held onto it ever since he died and she’s carried with her from house to house. For Tyler Henry’s sort of reading — because there are all types of mediums, folks — he does best if he touches an object of significance to form a connection to the person who has passed. So, as revealed in an E! sneak peek , Khloe gives him the monkey to hold in the hopes that it will help him contact her late father. “There’s a feeling that comes across and it is in reference to dad’s passing,” Tyler tells her. “There’s a feeling of not having full closure, of not being there in the moment of passing.” Oh, right to talk about his death, huh? Not the most cheerful topic but, obviously it’s gonna come up. “There’s a feeling of like, ‘I don’t want you to be there when I’m actually passing away,’ It’s like, ‘For your sake I want you to just not have that in your memory.” Watching this from the other room, Kylie quietly notes that it’s interesting, because, as she recalls, Robert Kardashian passed when family wasn’t there. Of course, Kylie would have been, what, five at the time? Somewhere around there. Tyler Henry continues. “And there’s a feeling when this comes through that he actually would’ve timed his passing.” People can sort of will themselves to live a little longer or give up on life — not as dramatically as Padme Amidala in Star Wars , but there are people who died right after retirement or who cling to life just long enough to make sure that their affairs are in order and then pass away days later. “The feeling is that he was holding on and he was waiting and that would’ve been done with purpose and with intention.” We don’t think that Tyler’s suggesting that Robert Kardashian  chose  to die or anything like that. But everyone, even the terminally ill, tries to put on a brave face for the ones they love. In this case, Khloe says that Robert held on long enough to say goodbye to his entire family, and then finally passed when he wasn’t in their presence. “That was his way of having closure,” Tyler Henry concludes. Presumably, there will be more in the full episode, because Tyler telling Khloe stuff that she basically already knows isn’t the most riveting television. Though it might have been if Khloe were one of the skeptics that Tyler’s had on his show. For Khloe, though, this isn’t her first picnic with the ghosts of family past. Hopefully the full episode won’t harp on Khloe’s unresolved daddy issues the whole time. There has to be more to her … right?

Jenelle Evans Reveals Heartbreaking Childhood: My Dad Abandoned Me!

For as long as we can remember, Jenelle Evans has been a complete and total trainwreck. But to be fair, she didn’t magically become that way. Sure, she’s done a lot of terrible things. After getting pregnant at 16, she signed custody of her newborn over to her mother so that she could party, and eventually so that she could develop a heroin addiction . In addition to the drugs, she’s been arrested numerous times for assault. She went on to have two more kids with two more men, and in all these years, she’s never shown one single ounce of self awareness . But, as we’ve seen on Teen Mom 2, Jenelle’s mother, Barbara, has issues of her own. Good ol’ Babs is prone to yelling, too, and she and Jenelle obviously have a very toxic relationship . She’s even said that when she was younger, she used to be a lot like her daughter. So with Barbara for a mother, and … wait, have we ever even seen Jenelle’s father? No, we have not. And, according to an excerpt from Jenelle’s upcoming book , his absence played a major role in how she turned out. Her book is titled Read Between the Lines: From the Diary of a Teenage Mom, and as you can probably imagine, it includes some old diary entries, along with some updated reflections. In one section of the book, Jenelle writes “Robert Evans was only in my life for a little while. For that short and glorious time, I was daddy’s little girl.” “I loved and admired him. I still do in some way.” But, she continues, “Without warning everything changed, and my dad cut himself out of my life.” “Even now, as a grown woman, we don’t talk. Maybe one day that will change. Maybe one day we can find one another, get to know each other, and he can finally be my father .” “Until then, he is just my biological dad.” She goes on to recall some things about the man — for instance, she remembers him being “an awesome singer and musician,” and he loved driving around, listening to music. She also remembers that he didn’t get along with Barbara, mostly because of his “misplaced sense of priorities.” “Having been in and out of my own troubled relationships,” she writes, “I can only guess at what their marriage was like.” “It was rocky enough not to last, and that says enough on its own, I suppose.” Sadly, she adds that she wishes she had paid more attention then “so I could watch for the same signs in my own life.” This isn’t the first time she’s talked about her father, but it seems like this is the first time she’s going into as much detail. Last year, she wrote a surprisingly candid entry on her website about her father, explaining that he left the family when she was just 5 or 6 years old. She teased her book even then, writing that her older siblings and her mother “always had a sour attitude towards my father and I had no idea why.” “Later on I found out there was a huge reason behind that. I’ll save that for my book.” While we don’t know the big bombshell yet, Jenelle also wrote then that her parents got into “physical altercations” regularly, and though he visited them for a few years after he left Barbara, he eventually stopped. He called once, a couple of years after that, but she never saw him again. “I don’t know what happened in the past, everyone has a past but everyone can change,” she wrote. “I know he loved his kids and if he didn’t he wouldn’t have tried to be in our lives in the first place.” Oh, Jenelle … View Slideshow: Teen Mom Cast: Before They Were Stars …

Amber Portwood Suffers Breakdown on Teen Mom OG: What Happened?!

Amber Portwood … well, the girl has been through some stuff. She got pregnant at 16, of course, and from there she dealt with severe addiction problems, severe relationship problems, really just so many problems . Eventually she went to prison and got clean and straightened out a bit, but soon after she returned home, she began dating disgusting douchebag, Matt Baier, and so everything has gone all to hell again. But while we know so much about all of that, one thing that Amber doesn't talk about much is her father, who tragically passed away in 2014 . In this new sneak peek from Teen Mom OG, she's changing that. In the clip, Amber is hanging with Matt, Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra down in Puerto Rico. They're lounging around outside, and a producer points out that Amber and Catelynn seem more like cousins than reality show co-stars. Amber points out that that's because they have similar histories — parents who worked multiple jobs just to pay the bills, and parents who suffer from addiction. She adds that her own mother had to work so much because her father was an alcoholic, but she quickly adds that she loved her dad very much, and she doesn't want to say anything bad about him. Matt chimes in to talk about his own alcoholic father, and Amber, who's becoming visibly upset, asks if they can change the subject. Her gem of a guy ignores her, and he only stops when she starts crying. “I took care of my dad when he was f-cking dying,” Amber tells them through tears, but instead of continuing the story, she walks away, telling them “I can't f-cking do this.” As she walks off with a producer, Matt explains to Catelynn and Tyler that her father's death “hits her sometimes, like it'll hit her out of nowhere, and it breaks her heart. Meanwhile, Amber discusses her father, who died awaiting a liver transplant — his own was destroyed after years of drinking. “He told me he had eight months to live,” she says, but “he f-cking lived for ten years. He was in pain every f-cking day, and that man stayed alive and told me he was waiting for me to get married.” Unfortunately, he didn't make it. How heartbreaking is this? Amber's story also does the impossible in that it makes last week's Las Vegas wedding disaster with Matt even worse. If her father was trying to live long enough to see her get married, then you know that has to be a huge deal for her. And since Matt is obviously aware of her feelings about her father, he had to know that. So for him to try to force her to get married in Las Vegas, away from her family and while she obviously has some bittersweet feelings about the idea of a wedding … It's really just reprehensible, even more so than before. What the incredibly sad clip below:
