Atlanta police say two 8-year-old boys were among a number of juveniles implicated recently in a spate of burglaries in southwest Atlanta. “We are seeing an increase in burglaries in the Princeton Lake & Deerwood communities,” APD Zone 4 Commander Maj. Rodney Bryant wrote Monday in a email alert sent to affected residents. One of the incidents occurred last weekend when police interrupted an attempted car theft on Harwell Road in Zone 4. An 8-year-old suspect was detained along with a 14-year-old, but no charges were filed against the younger child, Bryant said. An 8-year-old also was suspected in a home break-in on Abbey Avenue near Washington and Ben Hill roads. He, too, was accompanied by an older youth, Bryant said. In both cases, the alleged junior bandits were returned to their parents. Bryant said Zone 4 officers have made a number of burglary-related arrests in recent weeks, with juvenile offenders accounting for more than half of those charged. SMDH. A man fired several shots from a handgun during a large fight near an outdoor concert venue featuring funk music artist George Clinton, killing one person and wounding three others, police said Sunday. The fight erupted before 10 p.m. Saturday at an intersection near Luke East Park, the venue for the eighth annual Unity in the Park festival. Police didn’t have a description of the shooter, and no arrests had been made by midmorning Sunday, Sgt. Sammy Morris told The Associated Press. It wasn’t immediately clear how long after Clinton or the other musicians performed that the shooting erupted or what prompted it. Police didn’t know if those involved in the fight were among concertgoers leaving the area. “These were younger people, so we’re not sure,” Morris said. “George Clinton is an older (artist). We’re not going to speculate.” A 16-year-old boy with a gunshot wound to the head died of his injuries early Sunday, Morris said. He didn’t know the conditions of the other three who were wounded: a 20-year-old woman shot in the neck, and a 14-year-old boy and a 23-year-old man each hospitalized with leg wounds. The Cleveland Plain Dealer reported earlier that the two most seriously wounded were in critical condition, and the other two were stable. And once again, that is why our people can’t have anything. The recently published Malcolm X biography by Manning Marable may be key to having his real killer brought to justice. Although three men were convicted of fatally shooting Malcolm X at the Audubon Ballroom in Upper Manhattan in 1965, for some time it has been believed that the investigation into his death was bungled, leading for two innocent men to be imprisoned and a guilty party to go free. While previous efforts to have the case reopened have failed, the publicity surrounding the recently published biography by Manning Marable could help bring about a new investigation — especially because in recent years prosecutors in the South have shown that it’s possible to pursue and win cases that are decades old and many of those cases have helped shine a light on the failures of civil rights era police. Part of what makes it more urgent to reopen this case is the recent revelation that the man who was never arrested for the assassination, but many suspected was responsible is now living in Newark under a different name. X was shot to death on stage at the Audubon Ballroom on Feb. 21, 1965. Shortly after he began to speak a scuffle broke out in the audience, then a smoke bomb went off and gun men opened fire. The prime suspect at the time was Thomas Hagan (pictured above being taken from Audubon Ballroom), a 22-year-old New Jersey member of the Nation of Islam who was arrested at the Audubon. Police investigated the crime scene for only four hours before the ballroom was mopped up for a dance that had already been planned. Police seemed to believe it was a simple enough case, since Malcolm X had recently broken with the Nation of Islam, who branded him a traitor and an enemy. Just a week before his assassination his home had also been firebombed.

The mayhem began about 8:30 a.m. when cops responded to a 911 call for a fight between the couple, identified by police sources as Terenace Williams and Frederick Mendez. The pair have a history of domestic violence incidents, police said. “When the argument started, everyone came outside,” said neighbor Tommy Brown, 38. “She didn’t want to have sex, she didn’t want to sleep with him. That’s what they were arguing about.” Cops arrived to find Mendez stabbing Williams and attempting to throw her off their third-floor apartment balcony on Needham Ave. in the Bronx, police said. “He had her by a headlock and kept stabbing her,” said neighbor Oscar Brinson, 47. “A woman kept saying, ‘Let her go!’ and he screamed, ‘No, she ruined my life!’” A cop fired at Mendez, hitting him two or three times, police sources said. Mendez screamed in pain and retreated into the apartment, locking himself inside. Cops on a neighboring balcony pulled Williams to safety. She was taken to Jacobi Medical Center, but could not be saved, cops said. Williams worked as a nurse, neighbors said. What’s sad is that it seems as if the folks in the building might have seen this coming… “That man is a crazy man,” said a neighbor across the hall from the couple who declined to give her name. “He was always so controlling. I told him to leave her alone all the time. He always complained about her, saying she’s a bad person.” All the women in this world and you trippin’ because one wouldn’t give you any?? When we spoke to Olivia a couple of weeks ago, she mentioned a new addition to the “Love & Hip-Hop” cast. Juelz Santana’s girlfriend Kimbella, who is also the mother of his 10-month-old son, will be the newest cast member to join VH1′s top rated reality show “Love & Hip Hop” a source told AllHipHop.com. Juelz met the model and mother of two on the social networking site Twitter and the two have been inseparable ever since. Kimbella, who is currently on the cover of Black Men Magazine’s June issue along with Keyshia Dior and Charm Killings, will be branching out to expand her career into acting and music. Kimbella discussed her career in a previous interview with AllHipHop.com, conducted prior to her being cast in the reality show. “I’m trying to transition into acting and singing,” Kimbella told AllHipHop.com. “I’m launching my pop career and as we speak I’m recording in the studio. My sound is definitely not Beyonce, but more of a Fergie, Rihanna type sound.” Oh boy. At least these two seem to have a pretty drama free relationship.
