Hide ya grandma! Hide the elephant tusk! R.I.P. to another grandmother who has lost her life to a grandchild gone nuts. Via NYPost reports : Dominick Anderson grabbed the weapon after he became convinced his grandmother had put a voodoo curse on him, he allegedly told cops after the Dec. 19 murder in his family’s apartment. “I killed my grandmother with a cream-colored elephant tusk, and I did it because she was trying to have me killed,” Anderson, 26, said of the attack, which left the tusk in pieces, the grandmother, Beverly Holmes, 62, dead and Anderson’s sister injured. “She started doing some voodoo s–t, and that’s when it triggered me off.” Anderson also allegedly turned the tusk on cops, who were treated for scratches and bumps. He has been charged with first-degree murder, kidnapping and assault. “There are clearly mental- health aspects in play,” said Anderson’s court-appointed lawyer, Sam Roberts. Think he’ll tell the truth ? Via The Hollywood Reporter : It will be the first interview the disgraced cyclist has done since he was stripped of seven Tour de France titles over doping allegations. In the 90-minute interview, which will take place at Armstrong’s Austin, Texas, home and air Jan. 17 at 9 p.m., Armstrong will address the alleged doping scandal, years of accusations of cheating and charges of lying about the use of performance-enhancing drugs throughout his storied cycling career. It is another coup for Winfrey, who has landed a succession of high-profile interviews for her still-fledgling OWN network. Her sitdown with pop singer Rihanna, who talked about her sometimes abusive relationship with Chris Brown, was watched by 2.5 million viewers on Oprah’s Next Chapter. And her March exclusive with Bobbi Kristina, the daughter of the late Whitney Houston, pulled in 3.5 million viewers and is still the most-watched telecast for the network. Armstrong has been an elusive target for news organizations throughout the years-long investigation into doping on Armstrong’s U.S. Postal Service cycling team. He has denied claims by former teammates that have detailed his alleged doping scheme including public and strenuous denials surrounding details in a May 2011 report by 60 Minutes. He has been banned for life from cycling and cannot compete in events sanctioned by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency and the World Anti-Doping Agency including triathlons. He has so far refused to appear on camera for any of the myriad TV news stories that have detailed cheating and an alleged pattern of sometimes ruinous legal action against his accusers. But now Armstrong is said to be weighing admitting to the use of performance-enhancing drugs as part of a long-term strategy to rehabilitate his athletic career. Disclosures could come with some legal jeopardy since Armstrong has denied blood-doping or using banned substances in some legal proceedings. And representatives for Armstrong denied a Jan. 4 New York Times report that said Armstrong was in touch with the USADA. Armstrong attorney Tim Herman told the Associated Press: “When, and if, Lance has something to say, there won’t be any secret about it.” Already there is speculation that Armstrong’s admission could come during his interview with Winfrey. Representatives for OWN would not say whether Winfrey has interviewed Armstrong yet. Meanwhile 60 Minutes Sports, the Showtime spinoff of the CBS News program, will air a report Wednesday that says a representative for Armstrong in 2004 attempted to donate $250,000 to the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency, the same agency that last year found that Armstrong and his team had used illegal substances. She fired shots at the dude five times… hitting him in the face and neck after he cornered her in the attic. And according to The Daily Mail , this sounds like a homeowners worst nightmare!! A would-be burglar was looking to cash in, but instead found himself in a world of pain when a Georgia mother who refused to be victimized shot him multiple times in the face and neck. The Loganville woman, who was not identified, was in the home with her 9-year-old twins on Friday afternoon when someone began ringing the doorbell. Thinking it was just a door-to-door salesperson, she didn’t answer. But after the ringing persisted, the person began prying the door open with a crowbar. She quickly retreated to an attic crawlspace with the children, but not before she also picked up her handgun. The burglar, whom police identified as Paul Ali Slater, did a room-by-room search of the home, and when he reached the attic, she was ready. Walton County Sheriff Joe Chapman told WSBTV: ‘The perpetrator opens that door. Of course, at that time he’s staring at her, her two children and a .38 revolver.’ She reportedly fired all six rounds, missing only once. The other shots hit Slater about the face and neck. Sheriff Chapman told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution: ‘The guy’s face down, crying. The woman told him to stay down or she’d shoot again.’ Slater did eventually get up and managed to return to his vehicle that was parked outside the home, but his injuries left him unable to drive, and it wasn’t long before he crashed into a wooded area. He was found by sheriff’s deputies, bleeding heavily in a driveway on the block. Sheriff Chapman told the paper that he was pleading with his deputies, saying: ‘I’m dying. Help me.’ He was carted off to Gwinnet Medical Center for treatment of the gunshot wounds, and he is expected to survive. WSBTV reported that Slater has a long criminal history and was released from prison in August. The woman’s husband, Donnie Herman, is just glad his wife and kids are safe. Mr Herman told WSBTV: ‘My wife is a hero. She protected her kids. She did what she was supposed to do as a responsible, prepared gun owner.’ The NRA is going to have a field day with this one! And according to NewsOne , the victim took her account info straight to the police : After a Bronx teen was robbed of her iPad at a Bronx bus stop, one of the assailants took incriminating photos of herself with it, the New York Daily News reports.The victim was waiting on the bus at E. Tremont and Crotona avenues when several young women attacked her on Dec. 21. One of the female assailants attacked her from behind while another scratched her face and as she took her handbag from her shoulder. When police arrived on the scene, the victim reportedly refused medical treatment. The teen later accessed her Apple account remotely and gained access to photos of one of the assailants posing in vogue positions. She handed the photos to the NYPD, who later released them to the media. Anyone with information about this crime is urged to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers hotline at (800) 577-TIPS. SMH. DNA Info Reports : A teen who was friends with slain Englewood rapper Joseph “Lil JoJo” Coleman was shot dead on Christmas Day while wearing a hooded sweatshirt honoring the deceased emcee, his family said Wednesday. Joshua Davis, 18, of the 7200 block of South Bell Avenue, was shot several times after getting into a fight with a group of men in West Englewood, said Officer Jose Estrada, a police spokesman. No one was in custody as of Wednesday morning in the shooting, which occurred shortly after 11:30 p.m. in the 2000 block of West 69th Street, police said. Neighbor Sam Agnew, 83, said he was in bed when he heard four or five shots. He looked out his front door, saw a man lying in the street directly in front of his house and called police, Agnew said. According to a law enforcement source, Davis had argued with the men on a bus. After he got off, they chased after him and one of the men unleashed several shots. “He was killed because he was wearing a hoodie and getting off the bus,” said the victim’s sister Selina Davis, 24. “He was a great boy. He was only a baby.” Police said it was not clear what article of clothing Davis was wearing at the time of the shooting or what the argument with the men on the bus was about. Selina Davis said her brother, whose rap name was JayLoud, was wearing a “JoJo” hoodie to honor his best friend, who was killed in September. Coleman, also 18, reportedly was feuding with rapper Chief Keef before his death, but it was not clear if Davis’ death was related. Joshua Davis was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in critical condition and died there early Wednesday morning, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. Johnathan Moody, a cousin of the victim, said he and other friends had warned Davis about wearing the “JoJo” sweatshirt around the neighborhood. “We would tell him, ‘That ain’t good to wear that hoodie.’ But that was his best friend,” Moody said. Moody and other family members said they heard about their loved one’s death from friends and Facebook posts. “I guess the guys he got into it with, they were with another clique,” said Moody, 18. “It’s dumb. To kill someone over a hoodie?” Moody said. “It’s pointless, man. All this murder is pointless.” On a JayLoud video posted on YouTube, the victim raps in one song that “We know them and they know us, let’s get it. Smoke ‘em like some dope when we roll up.” On Dec. 17, a tweet from Davis’ Twitter handle @JayLoud93 stated “I wear my #JOJOWORLD hoodie everywhere f— ah opp.” “Opp” is slang for opponents, rival gangs. On his Twitter account, @JayLoud93 also includes hashtag notations #069 and #BrickSquad, which police say are references to the Brick Squad faction of Gangster Disciples. Police said Coleman was affiliated with the Brick Squad faction, but it was not clear if Davis was connected to the gang. Where are all the black activist at? According to The Huffington Post , Christie’s blaming his lack of support on numbers…and it looks like Christie’s back to playing politics again since he won folks over after Sandy. : New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) became the latest state chief executive to rebuff President Barack Obama’s health care reform law Thursday by vetoing a bill that would have created an online marketplace for uninsured residents to shop for health insurance. …Christie rejected legislation passed by New Jersey’s Democratic-controlled legislature that would have established a state-run health insurance exchange under Obamacare. The exchanges will be the gateway to health insurance coverage and financial assistance for individuals and small businesses under the 2010 federal law. New Jersey is now the 19th state to decline to create its own exchange, which will leave the federal government in charge of these new marketplaces in those states. Christie said the health law, known as the Affordable Care Act, doesn’t give states enough leeway to design health insurance markets for their residents and that federal authorities haven’t provided enough information about how the exchanges would work. “I will not ask New Jerseyans to commit today to a state-based exchange when the federal government cannot tell us what it will cost, how that cost compares to other options, and how much control they will give the states over this option that comes at the cost of our state’s taxpayers,” Christie said in a news release. “We will comply with the Affordable Care Act, but only in the most efficient and cost effective way for New Jersey taxpayers.” Christie met with Obama at the White House Thursday to discuss federal relief funding in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. The federal government has the authority under Obamacare to create health insurance exchanges in states that don’t enact their own, but the law was designed for federal authorities and states to share the responsibility. Lack of cooperation from states and poor coordination between levels of government could make the exchanges less effective at enrolling uninsured people into health coverage programs.States have until Dec. 14 to inform federal authorities of their plans for health insurance exchanges. Seventeen states and the District of Columbia already are moving ahead with their own exchanges, five states intend to jointly operate them with the federal government, and nine haven’t made announcements, according to the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation. One of those officially undecided states, Virginia, is unlikely to create a state-run health insurance exchange, William Hazel, the state’s secretary of Health and Human Resources, said at a conference held by the National Conference of State Legislatures Thursday. According to CNN , Joe’s still in the hospital recovering… Joe Jackson, the Jackson family patriarch, suffered a stroke Thursday morning and is being treated in a Las Vegas hospital, a source close to the Jackson family said. Jackson, 83,”is in very good spirits” and expects to be sent home from the hospital Friday, said the source, who asked not to be identified. The “mild” stroke is similar to two others he suffered in the past five years, another source close to Jackson said. Joe Jackson created and managed the Jackson 5, the legendary R&B and pop group made up of his sons, including Michael Jackson. Although he is still married to Jackson matriarch Katherine Jackson, they live separately. He has a home in Las Vegas, while his wife lives in Calabasas, California, with Michael Jackson’s three children. GTFOHWTBS… According to The Huffington Post : Hostess Brands Inc. said Thursday that it’s in talks with 110 potential buyers for its iconic brands, which also include CupCakes, Ding Dongs and Ho Hos. The suitors now include at least five national retailers such as supermarkets, a financial adviser for the company said in bankruptcy court. The process has been “so fast and furious” Hostess hasn’t been able to make the calls seeking buyers it previously intended, said Joshua Scherer of Perella Weinberg Partners. “Not only are these buyers serious, but they are expecting to spend substantial sums,” he said. The judge approved Hostess’ bonus plan, according to a tweet from CNBC: CNBC @CNBC BREAKING: Judge approves Hostess bonus payout plan; 19 Hostess senior executives in line for up to $1.8M in bonuses 29 Nov 12 The update on the sale of the company’s brands comes as Hostess seeks approval in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in the Southern District of New York in White Plains, N.Y. to give its top executives bonuses totaling up to $1.8 million as part of its wind-down plans. The company says the incentive pay is needed to retain the 19 corporate officers and “high-level managers” during the liquidation process, which could take about a year. Two of those executives would be eligible for additional rewards depending on how efficiently they carry out the liquidation. The bonuses would be in addition to their regular pay. A spokesman for Hostess noted executives will need to meet certain goals to get the bonuses. The bonuses do not include pay for CEO Gregory Rayburn, who was brought on as a restructuring expert earlier this year. Rayburn is being paid $125,000 a month. The company’s shuttering means loss of about 18,000 jobs. Hostess said it will need about 3,200 employees as it begins the wind down process, including 237 employees at the corporate level. In court Thursday, an attorney for Hostess noted that the company is no longer able to pay retiree benefits, which come to about $1.1 million a month. Hostess stopped contributing to its union pension plans more than a year ago. The company’s demise came after years of management turmoil, with workers saying the company failed to invest in updating its products. In January, Hostess filed for its second Chapter 11 bankruptcy in less than a decade, citing steep costs associated with its unionized work force.
