Mariah Carey turns 42 years old today, but don’t bother getting the artist any gifts. She’s already received the best present of all: these adorable twins . The singer also has a reason to smile these days because husband Nick Cannon is on the mend following a health scare centered around a case of mild kidney failure. These two really do make a cute, happy couple. What does the professional future hold for Mariah? It’s unclear, although she’s one of many big names rumored for season two of The X Factor . She’d undoubtedly be a major draw. For now, though, she’s pretty much a full-time mother, one who is sitting at home and waiting for your birthday wishes. Also celebrating birthdays today: Jessie J (24), Brenda Song (24), Fergie (37), Nathan Fillion (41) and Quentin Tarantino (49).
‘It’s not the right time,’ singer tells MTV News. By Christina Garibaldi Fergie Photo: MTV News NEW YORK — Fergie has been lying low since the Black Eyed Peas announced they were going on an indefinite hiatus back in November. Yet on Wednesday, the Internet was abuzz with rumors that she might fill Paula Abdul or Nicole Scherzinger ‘s “X Factor” judging seats. But that’s all news to Fergie herself. “I have no idea how this keeps coming back, it’s crazy!” she told MTV News on Thursday (March 22) at the Voli Light Vodka Brunch in New York. “I know that my managers and agents have been in touch with the ‘X Factor’ both last season and this season, but both times it’s not the right time.” In April 2010, Fergie was mentioned as a potential judge , but much like this time around, she felt she couldn’t give the contestants the commitment they would need from a mentor. “I can’t commit all the energy that these contestants deserve,” Fergie said. “This is their career, and right now, I’ve got different plants in my garden that are going on, and that’s a really big tree that would take a lot of nurturing and energy. It’s just not the right time right now.” It might not be the right time for Fergie, but it could be the right time for Britney Spears. The pop star was reportedly offered $10 million to join Simon Cowell and L.A Reid on the judging panel. So does Fergie think Spears would be a good fit? “I think whatever they do … Simon’s a genius and he’ll make the right decision,” Fergie said. “And it will all work out.” Even though Fergie won’t be mentoring this season’s “X Factor” contestants, that doesn’t mean she won’t be tuning in. “I love Simon and I’ll be watching the show,” Fergie said. “I’m excited to watch — but at home in my pajamas.” Do you think Fergie would make a good “X Factor” mentor? I spent most of the day yesterday in a constant state of semi-drunkenness at the St-Patrick’s Day parade, downing green beer and staring at hot drunken white chicks with names like Erin and Megan. So I needed something different to cleanse my hot girl palette, so to speak. Here’s Asian beauty Kim Lee dropping some awesome cleavage in her sexy silver dress. That ought to do it. Enjoy.
Here’s Carmen Electra packed into a tight dress at some party in Vegas over the weekend. We don’t see as much of this hottie anymore, I guess she’s getting a little old, it’s almost time to send the old girl out to pasture with all the other washed up hot chicks. I hear they run free on a farm in upstate New York somewhere, pouting and making sexy faces all day. Sounds nice. I’ve also included a video of Carmen taking a tumble in a fancy dress on the catwalk, not for any reason in particular, I just like watching hot chicks fall down. Enjoy.
She can’t exactly carry a tune, and she’s never been known for her quick wit or intelligence… but her songs are sure catchy. And is there any doubt she’s rake in the ratings? According to Us Weekly , Britney Spears has reached out to Simon Cowell and The X Factor producers in order to campaign for spot on the season two judging table. If Britney’s name is really in the mix, it would be included with other famous ones such as Beyonce, Pink, Fergie, and perhaps the most likely candidate, Janet Jackson . Do you think Spears would make a good X Factor judge?
Young Money Barbie had that ‘Super Bass,’ conquering pop and rap landscapes to land on Hottest MCs in the Game list. By MTV News staff Nicki Minaj Photo: MTV News / Getty Images A few months before the release of his My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, Kanye West took to Hot 97’s Angie Martinez-hosted radio show to promote his G.O.O.D. Friday series, but also to make a seemingly odd proclamation. “The scariest artist in the game right now … the scariest artist is definitely Nicki Minaj ,” West said. “I think she has the most potential out of everyone to be the #2 rapper of all time.” While we won’t even wade into a “hottest MCs of all time ” debate, MTV News’ Hip-Hop Brain Trust eventually voted Nicki into the plum #4 spot on the Hottest MCs in the Game VII list. In the summer of 2010, Minaj was the acid-tongued “two” to Drake’s “one” in Lil Wayne’s Young Money one-two punch. With her debut album still on the way, she was murdering features left and right. “When she hit the scene, she was just like the pretty girl alongside Wayne,” said Rahman Dukes, MTV News’ director of hip-hop news. “Drake was really the next one that everyone was looking out for.” Want to join the debate? Just hit us on Twitter using the hashtag #HottestMC! HOT STREAK Album: Pink Friday Selected Mixtapes: None Singles: “Super Bass,” “Fly” (featuring Rihanna) and “Starships” Street Bangers: “Did it on Em,” “Roman in Moscow,” “Stupid Hoe” Key Guest Appearances: Big Sean’s “Dance (A$$)” remix, Birdman’s “Y.U. Mad” and Drake’s “Make Me Proud” Meteoric Metrics: Nicki continued to dominate the singles chart thanks to “Super Bass,” which peaked at #3 on the Billboard Hot 100. Business Ventures: The Barbie starred in Mac’s Viva Glam campaign and linked with OPI to launch her own nail polish. Tours: She hit the road with Lil Wayne on his I Am Still Music Tour and Britney Spears on the Femme Fatale Tour. Monumental Moment: Nicki took home the Best Hip-Hop Video VMA for “Super Bass.” Forecast: With Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded on the way, Nicki should once again rule the airwaves in 2012, but Roman is a different story … But by the time she dropped her Pink Friday debut last November, the world was on notice. Now, Nicki’s success spans the pop and hip-hop worlds, and her fanbase is just as eclectic, with young girls and “Kens” all riding for the Young Money Barbie. Minaj’s song “Super Bass” was just a bonus track on the album, but it won over fans including squeaky-clean Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez, both of whom jumped on the record, rapping along line for line to the infectious track. “Bass” may have even helped Nicki score a spot opening for Britney Spears on her Femme Fatale Tour. As far as our Hottest MCs criteria, Nicki meets them all. Her impact is undeniable and, lyrically, she holds her own when she’s playing with the boys: She stole the show on Big Sean’s “Dance (A$$)” remix and declared herself the Female Weezy on Birdman’s “Y.U. Mad.” Need more proof? Minaj shut down New York Fashion Week in September 2011. And she has conquered hip-hop’s digital landscape. “Recently, she broke the record for the most followed hip-hop artist on Twitter; her social media following is incredible,” said Nadeska Alexis, MTV’s RapFix blog editor. “She dropped the song ‘Stupid Hoe’ — people didn’t necessarily love the song [but] a week later it’s at 15 million views on YouTube.” While her songs may not always appeal to “the streets,” millions of her fans have bought into Nicki’s sound. And her performance at the 2012 Grammys , while controversial, was a huge honor and a testament to the lane she’s carved for herself. After the roundtable votes were tallied, Nicki was initially slotted at #5 with Young Money boss Wayne clocking in at #4, but several members of the Brain Trust felt strongly enough about Nicki’s accomplishments that her position warranted a second look. Hottest MCs moderator Sway Calloway called for a vote and in the end, six of the nine experts elected to move Nicki up to the #4 spot, sending Weezy down to #5. “Nicki Minaj doesn’t have to be Meek Mill, but at the same time she’s not Britney Spears,” said Steven Roberts, a segment producer/writer at MTV News. “I think Nicki Minaj is something special where she can be in the middle and she can be pop and hip-hop because I think hip-hop at this point is pop.” What do you think of our list? Chi-Town hero claims the Throne and Hottest MCs in the Game VII’s top 3 with a Twisted Fantasy and a groundbreaking joint album. By MTV News staff Kanye West Photo: Getty Images To be considered one of the Hottest MCs in the Game, a rapper has to build a solid case with lyrics and album sales, but buzz is just as important, and few artists can stir up a frenzy quite like Kanye West , who happens to have the verses and plaques to back it up. But that’s just touching the surface when it comes to why the Hip-Hop Brain Trust gave ‘Ye the #3 spot on our Hottest MCs in the Game VII list. The Chicago native set tongues wagging back on New Year’s Eve 2010, when he announced at a party in Las Vegas that his joint album with Jay-Z would arrive at the top of ’11. Although Watch the Throne didn’t actually drop until August 8, 2011, anticipation in the months leading up to its release was palpable. “Kanye came off of My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy in 2010, and just the hype from that album rolled over into 2011, as he started prepping us for WTT, ” said Nadeska Alexis, MTV News’ RapFix blog editor. “Kanye was the only thing people could talk about for the first few months of the year.” Want to join the debate? Just hit us on Twitter using the hashtag #HottestMC! West and Jay teased fans with the single “H.A.M.” — later relegated to a bonus track — all while Kanye continued to push songs from his Grammy-winning solo LP. A flashy video for “All of the Lights” featured an appearance from Rihanna and generated plenty of chatter, and that folded right into the Watch the Throne hype. Key Guest Appearances: Big Sean’s “Marvin & Chardonnay” Meteoric Metrics: Watch the Throne debuted at #1 on the album charts and has sold approximately 1.3 million copies to date, while West’s Grammy-winning solo single “All of the Lights” was certified platinum Business Ventures: Inked an official distribution deal with Def Jam Records for G.O.O.D. Music imprint; launched DW by Kanye West line at Paris Fashion Week Tours: Along with Jay-Z, West put on one of the most anticipated hip-hop tours to date in support of Watch the Throne. They grossed $48.3 million across 26 dates. Monumental Moment: Not only did Kanye add “cray” to the rap vernacular, he joined Jay in performing “Paris” a record 11 times at one of their live shows Forecast: After picking up Grammys for Best Rap Album ( MBDTF ) and Best Rap Performance (“Otis”), Kanye is currently at work on the highly anticipated G.O.O.D. album. And, of course, the second incarnation of his fashion line is getting plenty of advance buzz. In the weeks before the album debuted, Throne fans were treated to more tidbits from the project, much of which had the indelible Kanye West stamp. Animal-inspired cover art designed by Givenchy creative director Riccardo Tisci? The brainchild of Kanye West, certainly. “Jay-Z has really stood alone over the course of his career and he never really let somebody else get in the front,” said Rahman Dukes, MTV News’ director of hip-hop news, about the collaboration. “This is the one time [he let someone take control] and that’s a huge nod to Kanye’s genius.” One of the key elements in building anticipation for the album was that the Throne successfully avoided a leak. The duo even threw a grand listening session at the Museum of Natural History in New York City — select music journalists and A-list insiders from Beyonc
During the live MTV News special ‘Whitney Houston: In Her Own Words,’ we reflect on the diva’s biggest moments and interviews. By Kara Warner Whitney Houston Photo: MTV News Although many of us are still getting over the shock of Whitney Houston’s untimely death , MTV New paid its respects Wednesday (February 15) with ” Whitney Houston: In Her Own Words .” The live MTV News special was hosted by our own Sway Calloway and featured interview clips of Houston from her network debut in 1986 through her final interview, her career highs and lows, faith and family, as well as how she hoped to be remembered. MTV News gathered a collection of heartfelt reactions from Houston’s celebrity fans at Sunday’s Grammys, and Fergie, Amber Rose, Ne-Yo and Foster the People all spoke about the impact the late icon had on the industry. “Whitney was such an inspiration to me ever since I was a little girl,” Fergie said. “I used to watch the Grammys and I used to watch her walk up on that stage. She would belt out a song with such confidence, and I’d just dream that I could be on that stage like Whitney. She was a role model for me. She was an icon.” We dug into our vaults for Whitney’s top MTV moments, which included her first-ever performance and win for “How Will I Know” at the Video Music Awards in 1986, along with a rare, candid interview in 1998 with rumored rival Mariah Carey , during which they discussed what it means to be a diva and the miracle of having children. “The only thing I really have a problem with the diva factor is who represents it and how you represent being a diva.” Houston said of the label. “Exactly,” Carey agreed. “There’s a bitchy factor [associated with the word].” “Some people give divas a bad name,” Houston continued. “There is a standard of that kind of attitude … there’s a certain kind of humilia … ” “Humility,” Carey chimed in. “Humility. Thank you!” Houston said, showing off the exact quality she was speaking about. One of the most poignant moments in our special came from a 1991 interview in which she addressed the topic of how she hopes to be remembered. “Well, they’re going to remember me how they’re going to remember me. They’re going to write books, they’re going to do this, they’re going to write that, and everybody is going to have their own idea. I don’t know, I want to be remembered for being a real nice person, somebody who cared and tried to do everybody righteously,” she said. “I don’t want to go down for being a hag,” she added with a laugh. Houston died at age 48 of yet-undetermined causes. Share your condolences with Whitney’s family and friends on our Facebook page. The most nominated artist of the night, West wins Best Rap Album, Best Rap Song and Best Rap Collaboration. By Gil Kaufman Kanye West Photo: Don Arnold/ WireImage It didn’t look like Kanye West, the most nominated man at Sunday (February 12) night’s Grammys , was going to make an appearance at the show, but even before the curtain came up, he was already a big winner. West came into the night with a leading seven nominations, and though he was controversially shut out of the Album of the Year race, he pulled off a near clean sweep in hip-hop categories handed out before the show. ‘Ye scored a win in the Best Rap Album race, taking the award for My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, beating out his collabo with Jay-Z on Watch the Throne, Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter IV, Lupe Fiasco’s Lasers and Nicki Minaj’s Pink Friday. “Everybody’s working hard and he’s definitely another big artist in the game,” Tyga told MTV News’ Sway on the Grammy red carpet when news broke about the West wins. With 17 nominations for the YMCMB crew, label boss Baby didn’t have much to add about West’s win, though Weezy had plenty to say in a pre-Grammy freestyle in which he took shots at West and Jigga . West also scooped up Best Rap Song for “All of the Lights” and Best Rap Song Collaboration for that song’s hook-up with Rihanna, Fergie and Kid Cudi. In that category he beat out some other major players, including Beyonc
This Chloe Sims hottie is the picture of perfection, she’s tanned, has a gorgeous body, a winning smile, and she’s got some lovely fake breasts that really bring the whole look together. Here she is classing up the girls on the red carpet for something looking like she’s having a little trouble containing those perfectly round beauties. Just let them loose already, you’ll get a hell of a lot more attention. She’s like a princess… A princess you’d see in a porn. I like it.
