WATCH: LOLs, Sadfaces Ensue When Comedians Read Twitter Insults Aloud

Because it’s always good to remember that when you’re judging famous people on Twitter , they sometimes read it (and weep), Jimmy Kimmel corralled a gaggle of comedians and comic actors to read some of the meanest Tweet-critiques they’ve received for the camera. I think we can all take a few universal lessons from this video: Namely, that celebrities like Jason Bateman , Presidential candidate Roseanne , and Andy Dick really are like the rest of us little Tweeters — well okay, maybe not Andy Dick. Also: Will Ferrell reads his @ messages while on the can, too! If that can’t bring us together as a Tweeple, what will? [via Jimmy Kimmel ]

Will Ferrell Explains the Origins of Casa de mi Padre, His Spanish Telenovela Comedy

Will Ferrell movies can usually be summed up as “Will Ferrell as a…” and you get it. Will Ferrell as a reporter? That’s funny. Will Ferrell as a NASCAR driver? Also funny. But Will Ferrell as a Spanish soap opera action hero? Casa de mi Padre is a Spanish language film starring Ferrell as a rancher’s son who goes to war with drug dealers to protect his brother’s girl (Genesis Rodriguez). Where, exactly, did he come up with this idea? At the film’s press junket today, Ferrell said he’d had this idea for five to seven years. The inspiration struck him, as such ideas do, during a 2:00 a.m. channel surfing session. “I’m probably like so many people, turning on the television going through the channels at two in the morning and landing on a telenovela going, ‘What is this? Why are they so over the top? This is amazing,’” Ferrell said. “That’s my exposure to them. I’d always had this idea of that’s such a heightened, funny world that it would be really funny to see myself in that world. I thought God, you’ve never seen an American comic in a foreign language film and have them commit to it in a way that’s believable. I thought that’s something if you could pull it off, that would be an original movie.” The TV dramas that pop up on Univision or Telemundo in the states take the drama pretty seriously. You can tell Ferrell thinks it’s funny by all the intentional mistakes (continuity errors, visible boom mics, stuffed animatronic animals and mannequin stand-ins) intentionally placed in Casa de mi Padre , which is written by Andrew Steele and directed by Matt Piedmont, both alumni of Saturday Night Live and Funny or Die . “It technically really isn’t an homage to telenovelas,” Ferrell said. “Telenovela is kind of the broad description for it but it’s an homage to that, it’s an homage to the Mexican spaghetti western. It’s an homage to bad moviemaking, continuity mistakes. It’s an homage to overacting. It’s an homage to stuffed wild animals. Once we started writing the script and talking about how we were going to shoot the movie, we saw this was a real opportunity to play around with a bunch of different elements.” The script by Steele was written in English, then the dialogue translated into Spanish. Ferrell only speaks en espanol ; only an American character delivers a few lines of English. Of course, now Ferrell only remembers the naughty words. “ Chingado is a good one,” he said. “I love that word. Chinga this, chinga that. That’s a good word, but that’s commonly used. Chinga is the F word.” Ferrell got over the language barrier on his first day of filming. “For some reason the schedule worked out to where I literally had like a two page monologue in Spanish on the first day. Once I got the first couple takes under my belt, and I could see people watching behind the monitors going, ‘His Spanish is okay. It’s not that bad.’ Then I thought oh, okay. I’m going to make my way through this. Had I kept up with the Spanish, I’d be really good right now. But I didn’t. I could make my way at a resort. At the Four Seasons in Mexico I’d probably be okay.” Fulfilling his dream of starring in a Spanish language melodrama, Ferrell was proud to use his box office clout to get an outrageous film made. “This ranks up there as one of the things I’ve gotten to do which you can only be so lucky to be in a position to take risks like this.” Casa de mi Padre opens March 16. 9 Suggested New Titles for Will Ferrell’s Dubious New Comedy Casa de mi Padre

Maybe I’m still annoyed nearly ten years after I saw Anchorman in theaters and was so angry with its juvenile, unfunny, dude-baiting humor that I’m sour to any movie whose theme is ” Will Ferrell is a hilariously alpha dimwit!” — but I’m pretty sure Ferrell’s new jam Casa de mi Padre with Gael Garcia Bernal and Diego Luna is downright moronic for real. In fact, the sophisticated-sounding title isn’t a good fit for the film (though it is written entirely in Spanish) and ought to be replaced. Here are nine titles we’d consider, along with the movie’s new teaser trailer.

Will Ferrell Old Milwaukee Ads: Folksy, Funny

Will Ferell is apparently a big fan of Old Milwaukee. No, seriously, he is. Frank the Tank would be proud of this new set of ads his real life alter ego shot for the classic American lager that have since gone viral. According to reports, Ferrell pitched the Pabst Brewing Company the idea himself, and agreed to do the spots unpaid on the condition that they aired locally. In the ads, he lampoons his status as a Hollywood celebrity while fishing in the Mississippi River near Davenport, Iowa and drinking a can of his favorite brew. He also engages in hand fishing for a “little piece of America,” and extolls the virtues of Davenport as an “Old Milwaukee kind of town” … one letter at a time. Will Ferrell ‘Flattered’ By Jay-Z/Kanye ‘Paris’ Cameo

‘When I heard it for the first time, I just started to laugh because it felt so surreal,’ he tells MTV News of Throne’s ‘Blades of Glory’ sample. By James Montgomery Will Ferrell Photo: Jason Merritt/ Getty Images It’s one of the biggest — and most inexplicable — hits of 2011, a song so popular that its hook was name-checked during player introductions on Sunday Night Football, so massive that Jay-Z and Kanye West have taken to performing it multiple times per set on their Watch the Throne Tour . We’re talking, of course, about “N—as in Paris,” the max-impact Throne single that has become a sensation, thanks in no small part to producer Hit-Boy’s bouncing beat , West’s pop-cult wordplay (“What’s that jacket, Margiela?”) and, of course, a pair of oddball samples taken from Will Ferrell’s 2007 figure-skating comedy “Blades of Glory.” As you’re probably aware, “Paris” kicks off with Ferrell’s grizzled Chazz Michael Michaels defiantly declaring, “We’re gonna skate to one song and one song only,” then really picks up steam mid-song, when (in a move that could alternately be described as “completely inspired” or “completely insane”), Hit-Boy drops the beat and lets the song roll on a second Ferrell sample: ” No one knows what it means, but it’s provocative … it gets the people going !” And, indeed, it has done just that. “Paris” currently sits atop Billboard ‘s Hip-Hop/R&B Charts, dominates urban radio and has received a thunderous response at Throne shows. And, thanks to Ferrell’s contributions, it’s certainly one of the oddest mainstream hip-hop tracks in recent history too. And if you’re wondering how the whole thing came to be, well, you’re not the only one: Turns out, Ferrell’s pretty mystified by the track too, as he told MTV News in an email Tuesday (November 8). “Kanye reached out to me and I said, ‘Of course,’ ” Ferrell wrote. “I was completely flattered when they asked if they could sample me into the song … and when I heard it for the first time, I just started to laugh because it felt so surreal. But I really did like the song.” So much so, in fact, that Ferrell said he’s hoping to take the Throne collaboration to the next level — “We were trying to film a piece that they would use on the video boards of their concert, but haven’t gotten it together,” he wrote — and the whole process has opened his eyes to an entirely new career opportunity: Being the go-to sample guy on the hip hop circuit. “I think [something from] ‘Step Brothers’ would be good [to use in a song],” he wrote. “Or the Woody Allen movie I did, ‘Melinda and Melinda.’ ” Regardless of whether any of those ideas come to fruition, thanks to the “Paris” success, Ferrell can bask in his newfound street cred, which is certainly at an all-time high. And that’s saying something for a guy who once starred opposite Andre 3000 . “It makes me feel very good,” he wrote. “And completely justified for buying a V-neck sweater made out of nothing but diamonds.” Were you surprised by Will’s Throne cameo? Biggie’s Son Says He Didn’t Want To Portray His Father In “Notorious”

Read the original here:

The Notorious B.I.G. ‘s son, Christopher “CJ” Wallace stars in the upcoming film Everything Must Go with Will Ferrell , but he made his debut portraying his late father in the film Notorious .  Wallace revealed in an interview that he didn’t really want to play his father on screen. “When I did ‘Notorious,’ my grandma, Ms. [Voletta] Wallace, she told me that I should come in and read for the part as my father,” CJ told The BVX . “Honestly, I didn’t want to do it. I didn’t want to do it because it seemed so likely for me to do it, like Biggie’s son is going to play Biggie. After I had my acting coach and really read through it, I started to find out things that I didn’t know about him. Then I took more of an interest into it. It was actually fun, going out to New York, living like him, going into his old apartment, doing what he did. It was cool.” Everything Must Go hits theaters on May 13th.
