Casa di mi Padre is an unusual comedy starring Will Ferrell — a send-up of Spanish-language telenovellas that also stars Gael Garcia Bernal and Diego Luna. There’s a trailer out now (possibly for a limited time) so you can see Will Ferrell performing entirely in Spanish, and sounding pretty damn natural doing so. The movie looks like lightweight comic fluff, but also pretty damn entertaining. Here’s… Broadcasting platform : YouTube Source : /Film Discovery Date : 14/04/2011 22:52 Number of articles : 2
‘The Golden Globes celebrate comedies every year — comedies like ‘Burlesque’ and ‘The Tourist,’ ‘ Andy Samberg points out to MTV News. By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Will Ferrell arrives at the Comedy Awards on Sunday Photo: Getty Images If there were an awards show to celebrate the very best in comedy, you’d probably want Will Ferrell and Adam McKay there on the red carpet riffing about how “The Other Guys” was snubbed at the Oscars and now finally their genius is being recognized. “I was with Will during the Academy Awards, and he slowly got drunker and said, ‘What about my kind?’ ” you’d want McKay to say. “I kept saying, ‘It has to be nominated! It has to be on there!’ ” Ferrell would answer. “And I said, ‘Will, we know ahead of time if it’s going to be nominated,” McKay would respond. And Ferrell would shoot back, “‘No, tonight’s going to special! They’re going to announce a secret nomination.’ ” Here’s the funny thing: There is such an awards show — Comedy Central held the first annual Comedy Awards on Saturday night — and that exchange is exactly how Ferrell and McKay began a red-carpet chat with MTV News. And as other celebs joined them on the carpet — Jon Stewart, Tina Fey, Stephen Colbert, Andy Samberg, Tracy Morgan — they picked up on Ferrell and McKay’s theme: Does comedy need an awards show, or is laughter all the reward comedians need? “It’s all about winning things!” Andy Richter declared. “That’s the reason we all got into this. It’s all about trinkets and trophies.” Not so, said Stewart. “I’m not sure anything needs acknowledgement anymore, especially in the show-business arena,” the “Daily Show” host told us. “But here’s what I think it is: These carpets get no other use, and it would be wasteful not to use them. If you think about it that way, none of this is necessary.” Samberg, meanwhile, deadpanned that before the Comedy Awards, there was one show in particular around to reward the funniest people of the year. “The Golden Globes celebrate comedies every year — comedies like ‘Burlesque’ and ‘The Tourist,’ ” he said. “And ‘Chicago’ — another hilarious comedy. So no, we don’t need this night.”
‘Anchorman’ star currently scheduled to appear in only four episodes. By Brian Warmoth Will Ferrell Photo: John Sciulli/ Getty Images Even if Will Ferrell doesn’t join “The Office” as a permanent cast member, his stint as a Dunder Mifflin branch manager already seems to have made an impact on the cast. Rainn Wilson confirmed the nature of Ferrell’s performance in the NBC series, which will soon see its figurehead, Steve Carell, depart, but Wilson also seemed a little star struck. “We’ve been doing a ton with Will Ferrell, and it is so cool,” Wilson told MTV News on Saturday night at the Independent Spirit Awards. “I just keep thinking, ‘I’m acting with Will Ferrell! This is so awesome!’ And he’s the nicest guy: just a sweetheart and so much fun.” Carell will leave a Michael Scott-sized hole when he exits the show at the end of the season, and Ferrell wanted to be a part of his “Anchorman” co-star’s final performances so much that he requested the part himself. His four-episode arc won’t install his character as the new man in charge, but it will showcase an epic fail on Scott’s part as Ferrell’s character asserts himself. “He is the new manager that Michael Scott has brought in to replace him, but we kind of swiftly realize that that’s a terrible idea. Terrible,” Wilson said. For now, exactly what Ferrell has been doing to warrant such reviews and possibly make Michael Scott look like a good management choice by comparison remains largely a mystery. More guest stars are expected to show up as Carell prepares to dedicate more of his life to making films, but it will be hard for anyone to stand toe-to-toe with Ferrell’s comedic talents. Ferrell’s effect on Wilson, meanwhile, should at least be potent enough to carry Wilson’s character (Dwight) well into the post-Scott era, however long that turns out to be. Whether a new actor emerges to take control of the company or one of the show’s other stars rises to the position, having the man who played Ron Burgundy in the same room as Carell for a while seems to be good for morale. Who do you think should play Michael Scott’s replacement? Tell us below!
‘I think I gotta take some improv classes or something,’ Rainn Wilson tells MTV News of funnyman’s four-episode arc. By Mawuse Ziegbe, with reporting by Kara Warner Rainn Wilson Photo: Jeff Vespa/ Getty Images Steve Carell will be ditching his role as clueless branch manager Michael Scott on “The Office” soon, but not without a laugh-fest assisted by funnyman Will Ferrell. And the actors who play Scott’s Dunder Mifflin underlings are amped for the “Anchorman” star’s appearance. Last week, producers announced that Ferrell would appear in four episodes of the NBC comedy as a fellow branch manager who is just as nutty as Scott. When MTV News caught up with Angela Kinsey, who plays tightly wound accountant Angela Martin, and Rainn Wilson, who portrays paper salesman/ beet farmer Dwight Schrute, on the SAG Awards red carpet Sunday night (January 30), the duo said they were looking forward to some Ferrell/Carell comedic mayhem. “I am so excited about Will Ferrell,” Kinsey exclaimed. “What if I was like, ‘Nah, boo.’ No, I’m totally excited. Him and Steve are friends in real life, and I think we’re just about to have a lot of fun. I can’t wait.” Wilson said he needed to sharpen his comedic skills if he is going to spar onscreen with the “Megamind” star. “I think I gotta take some improv classes or something like that. I gotta hone up. He’s a master, so I can’t wait. I can’t wait,” Wilson said. As far as how Ferrell and Wilson’s characters would interact in Scranton, Wilson said the eccentric Dwight probably wouldn’t extend his hero worship of Michael Scott to his newly arrived counterpart. “I think Dwight will probably butt heads and not like him at all, which will make it a lot of fun,” he said. Executive producer Paul Lieberstein, who also appears on the show as Scott’s HR-rep rival Toby Flenderson, quipped that the show would provide a boost to Ferrell’s already high profile. “We found Steve Carell when he was nothing but a movie star and we turned him into a television star,” he said. “We are proud to continue ‘The Office’s’ tradition of discovering famous talent, and we hope that once America gets a good look at Will, they’ll see what we see: Tremendous raw sexuality.” Are you looking forward to catching Will Ferrell on “The Office”? As reported, Will Ferrell will be appearing on The Office in a multiple episode arc later this season to bridge the gap after Steve Carell departs. It may be surprising that Ferrell would agree to do such a high profile television project considering his busy film career, but as evidenced in the clips ahead, Ferrell has been the go-to-guy for television guest appearances and uncredited movie cameos over the last few years. Actually, a pretty good case can be made that the characters he plays in his shorter appearances are better than a lot of his feature length roles. (Ron Burgundy aside). Let’s take a brief look at Will Ferrell’s lesser-known, but much more surprising characters.
A federal judge in Southern California ruled Thursday that the U.S. military's ban on openly gay service members is unconstitutional. U.S. District Judge Virginia Phillips granted a request for an injunction halting the government's “don't ask, don't tell” policy for gays in the military. Phillips said the policy doesn't help military readiness and instead has a “direct and deleterious effect” on the armed services. The lawsuit was the biggest legal test of the law in recent years and came amid promises by President Barack Obama that he will work to repeal the policy. Government lawyers argued that Phillips lacked the authority to issue a nationwide injunction and the issue should be decided by Congress. The injunction was sought by the Log Cabin Republicans, a 19,000-member group representing gay people that includes current and former military members. added by: Future_America
Michael Cera and Jason Schwartzman took the promotional TV news segment to the next level this week, filling in a whole weathercast in Atlanta for the sake of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World . It was entertaining (watch out for the bus!), but not necessarily the best tie-in between the film’s audience and the information at hand. Thus the crack news producers at Movieline HQ have had a look at the late-summer/early-fall movie slate and worked out a whole newscast just for the studios. Suggestions (and the original video) are after the jump.
After watching a Will Ferrell comedy like The Other Guys , you might be expecting an outtake reel or a bizarre epilogue to play underneath the closing credits. Instead, director Adam McKay (whose political essays often appear at the Huffington Post) took the opportunity to illustrate the rampant financial corruption of America in a Rage Against the Machine-scored animated interlude.
