‘Breaking Dawn’ Star Mackenzie Foy Gets Props From Onscreen Grandmother

‘This is far too quick!’ Elizabeth Reaser says of having a ‘granddaughter.’ By Terri Schwartz, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Elizabeth Reaser Photo: Ray Tamarra/ FilmMagic PARK CITY, Utah — Of the onslaught of new castmembers that have come onboard for the two parts of “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn,” the young actress who everyone seems to be most interested in is newcomer Mackenzie Foy . The 10-year-old actress might not be old enough to truly grasp the OME-level of excitement that playing Renesmee, the onscreen daughter of Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, should generate, but she certainly has made quite an impact on her co-stars. Elizabeth Reaser, who plays matriarch Esme Cullen, was at the Sundance Film Festival when MTV News caught up with her and asked her about working with Foy. Reaser had nothing but wonderful things to say about her newest family member. “She’s wonderful, and she lives across the hall from me in Baton Rouge, and she’s a wonderful, great actress,” Reaser said. “She never complains about anything. She’s so professional about everything. She’s such a sweetheart.” Obviously, Foy was cast not only for her acting ability but also for her resemblance to the movie’s stars. “I think it was really well cast between Rob and Kristen. She could be their kid, you know? She looks like that,” Reaser said, laughing about the fact that Foy, who is 25 years younger than her, is playing her grandchild. “This is far too quick!” In October, Stewart said she hadn’t had a chance to meet Foy yet, though that has obviously changed by now. She said that she didn’t know anything about Foy until “Breaking Dawn” director Bill Condon called her up. “[He] was like, ‘Wait until you see this kid. If you and Rob had a kid, this would be it,’ ” she told MTV News. “I was like, ‘That’s so weird.’ She just looks like — she sort of looks like Bella. Which is absolutely right. Although the funny thing is she has green eyes, and we both have to wear brown contacts together.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com . 50 Cent Says Fans Can Expect Black Magic ‘This Summer’

Producers Symbolyc One, Boi-1da and Alex Da Kid added to roster. By Jayson Rodriguez, with reporting by Josh Horowitz 50 Cent Photo: MTV News The bad guy is almost back: 50 Cent said he’s completed “80 percent” of his next album, the forthcoming Black Magic , which should arrive later this year. The G-Unit rapper has continued to make inroads into Hollywood since his last project, 2009’s Before I Self-Destruct , but Fif told MTV News at the Sundance Film Festival that he’ll be focusing on music in the near future. “[Fans] should look forward to the actual album this summer, so I have to release something soon,” he said about when to expect the first single. “I’m not sure if I’ll make a full mixtape [beforehand]. That’s what I was doing when I was making collaborations with new artists: I was working with artists that wouldn’t exactly be my equal because they don’t have a successful track record. But at some point you have to make the decision to just be an artist and work because you enjoy the music and you think it’s a good idea, as opposed to it being someone of your caliber.” 50 had already announced Eminem will appear on the album. But the Queens lyricist also said he’ll be working with a slew of new collaborators, including Boi-1da, Alex Da Kid and Kanye West’s “Power” producer Symbolyc One . Lil Wayne producers The Surf Club — Hit-Boy and Chase N. Cashe — said the Get Rich or Die Tryin’ superstar will revisit the aggression of his earlier work on his latest set. “He’s taking it back to the old 50,” Hit-Boy told us late last year. “And he had some new records that were some different-sounding stuff too. I’m excited to see how people react to it, and hopefully we end up with some stuff on the album. I gave him some stuff he really loved. It’s really a blend of the old 50 mixing with the new stuff that he’s doing. It’s crazy.” What do you expect Black Magic to sound like? Tell us in the comments below! Jersey Shore Season 4: Confirmed! In Italy!

It’s official. Jersey Shore is running it back for a fourth season and this time, the gang will take their act across the Atlantic to the motherland of Italy. Well, it’s the motherland for Vinny Guadagnino , the only authentic Italian in the bunch. The rest of the self-proclaimed guidos/ettes are kind of posers. In any case, it’s so on in Italy, where some of Vinny’s relatives are even hosting the Jersey Shore crew for an authentic dinner, Guadagnino style. Uncle Nino had better be there. Just saying. MOLTO BUONA : New Jersey’s finest are heading overseas! MTV confirmed this report , and is already scouting locations in Italy, similar to the way they did it in Miami for Season 2, to find the right locales. Two months ago, Shore executives began working on getting visas for the cast and crew. No word if Snooki’s arrest record will prohibit her entry. Of course, it’s all contingent on whether the Italian government lets them in, which hopefully they will. They can also consider keeping them. Just saying. It’s a thought.

50 Cent Denies Dating Chelsea Handler

Chelsea Handler may have Tweeted a photo of herself in bed with 50 Cent , but the two are definitely not a couple, according to the rapper-turned-actor. When Access Hollywood’s Maria Menounos asked 50 to set the dating rumors straight at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, he did just that. And he said the two are not involved romantically. “No, you could’ve asked Chelsea,” he said . “She made that visible for everyone to know.” Probed again by Maria, who mentioned the late night host and the rapper’s closeness of late, Mr. Cent laughed and said, “We’re just good friends.” So why has Chelsea been talking about the star so much lately? “‘Cause we’re friends,” 50 said. “That would be a good reason to talk about me.” Makes sense. But where’s the fun in that logic.

Oscar Nominee James Franco Set To Direct ‘As I Lay Dying’

The ‘127 Hours’ star and Oscar host tells MTV News he’ll helm movie based on William Faulkner’s novel this summer. By Aly Semigran James Franco Photo: MTV News James Franco may very well be Hollywood’s ultimate Renaissance Man. In addition to his already busy 2011 schedule, which includes attending the 83rd Annual Academy Awards, both as first-time host and Best Actor nominee (for “127 Hours”) , the actor/writer/ student will also tackle directing duties. Over the weekend, MTV News managed to catch a minute with Franco at the Sundance Film Festival , where he revealed to us yet another impressive future endeavor. The star spilled, “This summer I’m going to direct a movie based on William Faulkner’s novel ‘As I Lay Dying.’ ” Franco, who has in the past done some work behind the camera, explained, “I shoot a test of the whole movie before I make a movie. So we just shot a test.” Despite working from a lengthy script (160 pages, to be exact), Franco did an entire pre-shoot with actors in North Carolina on New Year’s Day. And in keeping with his already unorthodox methods, the 32-year-old noted that the actors he used for the test filming, won’t necessarily be the ones he works with on the final product. While Franco says he “might” appear in his adaptation of “As I Lay Dying,” he has his sights set on his favorite actor, “Boardwalk Empire” and “Revolutionary Road” star Michael Shannon, whom he has worked with twice before. The cast already includes Paul Dano (“Little Miss Sunshine,” “There Will Be Blood”) and, if all works out for Franco, Richard Jenkins (“The Visitor,” “Six Feet Under”) and Joaquin Phoenix will be onboard as well. Tobey Maguire Thinks New ‘Spider-Man’ Suit Is ‘Cool’

‘I’m excited to see it in action,’ the ex-‘Spider-Man’ star says about the outfit Andrew Garfield will wear in the upcoming prequel. By Terri Schwartz Tobey Maguire Photo: George Pimentel/ Getty Images PARK CITY, Utah — Ever since Andrew Garfield was announced to star as Spider-Man in Marc Webb’s big-screen reboot of the Marvel superhero franchise, all eyes have been turned to Tobey Maguire to see what his response would be. It’s not so much that Garfield replaced Maguire as Peter Parker as that Sony, who produces the films, decided that the series would be better served if it followed the teenage version of Parker through his transition — you know, to tap into the “Twilight” teen audience. And thus, the yet-untitled “Spider-Man” prequel was born. But there never has been any hard feelings between the two Spideys, at least publicly. The first picture of Garfield as Spider-Man hit the Internet on January 13, and it showed a different take on the famed suit than the one Maguire donned in the three Sam Raimi films. MTV recently caught up with Maguire at the Sundance Film Festival, and the former “Spider-Man” star said he has seen the new suit and liked what he saw. “I thought it looked cool,” revealed Maguire. “I mean, I think they did a great job with the design of it, and I’m excited to see it in action.” It’s not the first time Maguire has voiced his approval of the “Spider-Man” prequel . During a December interview with BBC News, Garfield admitted that Maguire had reached out to him to congratulate him on the role and give him his backing. “He sent me a lovely message through a mutual friend,” said Garfield. “He gave me his support, and it meant a great deal, of course, because part of the reason I love and have continued to love this character was because of his portrayal. To step into those shoes is no mean feat. It was generous of him to reach out and say something, so I’m thankful.” The “Spider-Man” prequel is filming right now, and is set to be released on July 3, 2012. For The Stans: Beyonce’s “New Genre” Could Sound Like This

Maybe Bey Bey was trying to tell us something about her new musical direction when she popped up at Cochella on her indie rock flow to support the hubby last year. Elctro-funk-hip-hop DJ/and producer Diplo just revealed he is one of people Beyonce has recruited for her super secret fourth solo album and that new genre she’s creating . On Monday (Jan. 24), Diplo — who is best known for his work with M.I.A. and as one-half of the duo Major Lazer (with longtime collaborator Switch) — revealed that he, Beyoncé, and Derek of the indie electro-pop duo Sleigh Bells recently recorded music together in a New York studio. “I like sleigh bells so much,” Diplo wrote on the blog for his label imprint, Mad Decent. “Me and switch was in studio in nyc tryin to make tracks with derek and beyonce last week after we played her team their album…dunno if we gonna manage to finish but it was good times.” Sleigh Bells appeared to corroborate Diplo’s post with a somewhat crytpic message their Twitter page: “yeah damn beyonce on it was intense track may not get finished (?) but we finished the rum off at least” Who is Sleigh Bells? They’re a “noise pop” duo out of Brooklyn that looks like this… And sounds like this when they work with Diplo… Do you think Beyonce can pull this sound off? Source

Lil B Is Cooking Up A Storm In 2011

MTV News takes the self-proclaimed ‘Based God’ on a date in Chinatown. By Rya Backer Lil B Photo: MTV News NEW YORK — If you aren’t among the more than 120,000 Twitter followers of Lil B “The Based God” or the many fans of his freestyles, or the regulars on Dior Paint (a Tumblr site supposedly run by his stylist), you probably would have been a little confused by all the cooking going on at B’s show earlier this month at Manhattan’s Highline Ballroom. But after watching the many “chefs” doing B’s signature dance, which literally involves miming the act of cooking, you’d probably also want to know a little more about the unusual rapper, whom we named a Mixtape Daily Fire Starter last year. That’s why MTV News met up with B for a First Date at Joe’s Shanghai in Chinatown. Between dumplings and fried rice, the Berkeley, California MC, who released Angels Exodus last week, talked all about his Twitter, his recent success and his unique subgenre of music. “Based music really is just doing what you feel, really letting the beats sink into you and letting the lyrics coat the beat,” he explained. “It’s really just about being yourself, though, and being positive. Doing what you want to do.” One thing that sets him apart is the Internet: B has over 150 MySpace pages, each one featuring unique tracks, and legions of aforementioned Twitter disciples who choose to show their devotion in rather interesting ways. “A lot of guys show me love and want me to date their women,” he said of his online fans. “It’s an honor. And I will use that gift and their trust and I will do the right thing.” In return for such loyalty, he’s given out about a dozen free mixtapes (including Rain in England, which he touts as hip-hop’s first ambient mixtape), and he just as freely provides new songs as soon as they’ve been finished, often promising that they’re “#rare.” With gigs like the Coachella Music and Arts Festival on the horizon, and more new music promised, 2011 may be the year that we’ll all be thanking Based God.
