The Alejandro González Iñárritu Nike Commercial Will Brighten Your Day

Weren’t able to make it to the Cannes Film Festival this year to see, among other things, Alejandro González Iñárritu’s latest depressing affair? Good news: Following in the footsteps of David Fincher , the famed director has used his considerable technical talents to create a new World Cup television spot for Nike. Titled “Write the Future,” the three-minute ad feels like noting Iñárritu’s ever done, and not just because it features cameos from Homer Simpson, Kobe Bryant and Gael Garcia Bernal. This thing is infectious, fun, incredibly watchable and manages to coherently say something about how one event can tie the entire world together. In other words, it basically accomplishes everything that Babel didn’t. Check out the clip after the jump and prepare to order yourself a Ronaldo jersey.

No Po-po For Li-Lo

It appears Lindsay Lohan will not be receiving a po-po’s welcome when she returns back to Los Angeles from the Cannes Film Festival now that the arrest warrant issued to the 23-year-old has been revoked. The former mean girl, who was due in court yesterday for a mandatory court hearing, pulled a no-show claiming that her passport was stolen, but a judge rejected that as a valid excuse and issued the warrant. However, that warrant was cancelled when Lindsay handed over 100 thousand dollar bail. She is set to appear at a new hearing Monday morning. Now, Li-lo may not be headed for the big house…but chances are she’ll be ordered to wear an alcohol-monitoring bracelet and subjected to weekly drug tests when she gets back. Lohan has been on probation since August 2007 after pleading guilty to misdemeanor drug charges and no contest to three driving charges.

Sharon Stone! Isabelle Huppert! SVU! WTF?

I admit I didn’t think much of the news last month that French film icon Isabelle Huppert would make a guest appearance on Law & Order: SVU . Leslie Caron and Jeanne Moreau had famously (and with dignity) preceded her on the series, and really, when you’ve won a César Award, a BAFTA Award and two Cannes Film Festival prizes for Best Actress, what else is left career-wise but to join NBC’ s procedural institution for a night? Right? Right. And then I watched the episode.

Michelle Williams and Ryan Gosling

Michelle Williams and Ryan Gosling, both 29, play a couple trying to prevent their marriage from falling apart. But the stars looked anything but troubled at Tuesday#39;s photocall, where the actor squeezed Williams#39;s hand affectionately. Their new movie Blue Valentine earned great reviews so far at the Cannes Film Festival – but costars Michelle Williams and Ryan Gosling have everyone on Croisette talking about something else: whether or not they#39;re a real-life couple. Lindsay Lohan May Face Jail

According to the media reports, “Mean Girls” actress Lindsay Lohan was ordered to attend a probation hearing which may lead to jail time for reportedly missing alcohol education classes imposed for a 2007 drunken driving case. As per court authority, Beverly Hills Superior Court judge Marsha Revel had ordered the troubled actress to attend a progress review in person on Thursday. An order was issued by the court when the celebrity website TMZ.com reported that the 23-year-old has attended only 10 of 13 alcohol education classes required of her and spent months partying. Judicial sources says that the judge could decide to put her behind bars if what the website reported was true. Actress Linday Lohan is in France to attend the Cannes Film Festival and her attorney has not made comment yet. She was arrested and sued because of drunk driving, reckless driving and driving under the influence of cocaine in 2007. Lindsay Lohan was placed on three (3) years probation and ordered to complete an 18-month alcohol education program. Last October, the Superior Court extended Lohan’s three (3) years probation for another year and warned her to get serious about the alcohol program. She was sentenced for 24 hours in jail but spent just 84 minutes behind bars because of overcrowding in Los Angeles prisoners. Shia LaBeouf Admits He Didn’t Like ‘Indiana Jones’ Sequel

‘I feel like I dropped the ball on the legacy that people loved,’ actor says, days after dissing ‘Transformers’ sequel. By Adam Rosenberg Shia LaBeouf at the “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps” photocall at Cannes on Friday Photo: Lorenzo Santini/FilmMagic Were you one of the many “Indiana Jones” fans left disappointed by the 2008 outing “Kingdom of the Crystal Skull”? You’re not alone: Star Shia LaBeouf counts himself among the haters. The actor, who only last week told gathered reporters at the Cannes Film Festival that he “wasn’t impressed” with last summer’s “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen,” made some equally frank statements over the weekend about his contribution to the Harrison Ford-starring action/adventure series. “I feel like I dropped the ball on the legacy that people loved and cherished,” he said in an interview with the Los Angeles Times. “You get to monkey-swinging and things like that and you can blame it on the writer and you can blame it on Steven [Spielberg, who directed]. But the actor’s job is to make it come alive and make it work, and I couldn’t do it. So that’s my fault. Simple.” Perhaps most refreshing about the actor’s comments is his respect for the audience. LaBeouf is aware of the perception that’s out there and he’s not afraid to address it directly. “I think the audience is pretty intelligent. I think they know when you’ve made [crap],” he said. “And I think if you don’t acknowledge it, then why do they trust you the next time you’re promoting a movie?” It’s an unusual display of honesty in an industry that is typically driven by studios and publicists fighting hard to control their message. “I’ll probably get a call,” LaBeouf said. “But [Spielberg] needs to hear this. I love him. I love Steven. I have a relationship with Steven that supersedes our business work. And believe me, I talk to him often enough to know that I’m not out of line. And I would never disrespect the man. I think he’s a genius, and he’s given me my whole life. He’s done so much great work that there’s no need for him to feel vulnerable about one film. But when you drop the ball you drop the ball.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com .
