Brad Pitt Says Violence In ‘Killing Them Softly’ Is ‘Important’

Actor also tells reporters at Cannes Film Festival that he and Angelina Jolie have yet to set a wedding date. By Kara Warner Brad Pitt at the premiere of “Killing Them Softly” at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival Photo: Anne-Christine Poujoulat/ Getty Images When it comes to the comings and goings of Brad Pitt, nearly everything the A-list actor says or does makes international news. That’s why, when Pitt participated in a press conference at the Cannes Film Festival on Tuesday (May 22), he found himself faced with several questions not entirely related to his upcoming flick “Killing Them Softly.” And according New York magazine’s Vulture , Pitt was more than happy to answer all of them. He was asked about the heavy violence in “Killing Them Softly” and whether, as a dad, he had any reservations about playing a killer. In the gritty crime drama, he portrays a hitman who is hired by a crime boss (Ray Liotta) to find and kill a pair of overzealous upstarts who attempt to stake their claim by robbing a high-profile card game staged by Liotta’s character. But according to Pitt, the role didn’t disturb him at all. “Not in any way, because murder is an accepted possibility when you’re dealing in crime,” he told reporters. “I would have a much harder time playing a racist or something along those lines. That would be much more unsettling for me than a guy who shoots another guy in the face.” Pitt went on to say that the violence in the film is realistic in that it’s not glorified for the sake of entertainment. “We live in such a violent world. I certainly grew up hunting, which is a very violent act,” he said when asked if the film was in any way influenced by the popularity of graphic video games that involve gangsters and hired killers. “Have you ever had a hamburger? Have you seen how they butcher cows? It’s barbaric, it’s horrendous, it’s very violent. This is the world we live in, so I see it as absolutely important to film.” The Oscar-nominated actor even happily answered a quandary about whether or not his upcoming marriage to longtime love Angelina Jolie would affect his work schedule. “We have no date. We actually really, truly have no date,” he said. “It’s something that makes sense to us … and we’re still hoping we figure out marriage equality in the States before then, before that date.”

Kelly Brook’s Curvy Foot Fetish

This Cannes Film Festival crap seems like a place where all celebrities do all day, at least the ones who aren’t actually invited to any of the movies, is search out silly photo opportunities. I get the feeling that Kelly Brook is one of those celebrities. Here she is poolside with that pasty fat guy who kind of looks like an alcoholic Richard Branson. I thinks he’s got his own talk show or something, he’s one of those people who only British people know anything about. Whoever he is he’s drinking out of Kelly’s high heels. Lucky bastard. If you’re into that kind of thing.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie: No Wedding Date Set

Brad Pitt famously proclaimed he wouldn’t get married again until all couples have a legal right to do so, and despite his recent engagement to Angelina Jolie, it looks like that long-held position is still weighing on his consciousness. He’s certainly not in any hurry to get to the altar. “We actually, really and truly, have no date,” Pitt said at a press conference for Killing Them Softly during the Cannes Film Festival Tuesday. “It’s just something that makes sense to us, and date-wise, it’s just a rumor . We’re still hoping that we can figure out marriage equality before that date.” Which isn’t to say Brad Pitt’s proposal was any less magical. “Angelina cried and smiled,” a source said of the moment. “And everyone hugged once she put it on. She went around and showed it to each of the kids.” Though Pitt and his bride-to-be typically attend the Cannes Film Festival together, Jolie was noticeably M.I.A. at the famed gathering this year. “She’s actually not here right now. She’s prepping for a movie she starts very soon,” Pitt explained of Angie’s latest project, Maleficent . [Photo: WENN.com]

Dracula 3D Is Terrible…Except for the Tits, Of Course [PIC, VIDEO]

Dario Argento would be screwed if he didn’t have a hot daughter. The Italian horror maestro used to be great, but his movies have been on a steep downward decline since the mid-’80s. Now their only saving grace is his exhibitionist daughter Asia Argento , who has no problem stripping down for Daddy Dearest’s movies (Exhibit A: 2007’s Mother of Tears ). Argento’s new movie Dracula 3D (rather inexplicably) premiered at the Cannes Film Festival this week, and as expected, it’s terrible. Like sub-direct-to-video terrible. But look on the bright side: The reviews all note that Asia once again does her dad a solid by going naked, along with Italo-Spanish star Miriam Giovanelli. Miriam’s character is described as “mostly naked vampire Tanja” by Film School Rejects ‘ Simon Gallagher, who writes in his scathing review: “Argento doesn’t usually play by conventional or commercial filmmaking rules, e ven including nude scenes for his daughter (and almost every other female character to excess) in amongst the provocatively kitsch horror moments and downright ludicrous story elements.” In other words, hold out for the good parts on Mr. Skin…but if you’re feeling masochistic, you can see the trailer for Dracula 3D after the jump!

Salma Hayek’s Breasts Save Face

I’m not going to make any stupid jokes about all the hot women and their cans at the Cannes Film Festival , that’s pretty hacky, but I am going to say how much I’d like to have Salma Hayek smother me with her big breasts. Here she is on the red carpet showing off those very special talents. Although, aside from her amazing latina cleavage, she’s kinda showing her age. Not cool. I had Carmen Electra up on the site earlier and she didn’t look this old, and I actually think Salma is younger than Carmen, so why is she looking so old? Ah yes, she squeezed a human being out of her vagina…. Kids are the worst.

Nick Stahl is Alive, Off to Rehab

The troubling disappearance of Nick Stahl into the missing-persons netherworld has a happy-ish ending: After contacting friends with news of his condition (read: alive), the actor checked himself into a rehab facility Saturday. His wife took her relief to Twitter , naturally: “Healing! Love for all. I am in recovery. But in no way do I or even should I represent recovery. I’m far to [sic] fallible. But again, I do hope that there is a silver lining to this event and I have been truly inspired to keep on keepin on. I have no more comments.” Anyway! This happened. [ E! ]
