Robert De Niro and Grace Hightower: It’s Over After More Than 20 Years

As much as we enjoy acting legend Robert De Niro’s feuding with Donald Trump , De Niro has now entered a very different conflict. He and his wife, Grace Hightower, have reportedly separated and are living apart. The couple has been married for more than two decades. People reports that Robert De Niro and Grace Hightower have separated. Having married in 1997, the two of them have been together for more than twenty years. Now, they are apparently living apart. As for the reason why, People ‘s report really can’t say. All that their source reveals is that: “Sometimes things don’t work out the way you hope or want them to.” That is certainly true. De Niro is 75. Hightower is 63. The couple shares a 20-year-old son, Elliott, and a 6-year-old daughter, Helen Grace. Their daughter was born via surrogate. Notably, this is not the first time that the couple has split. In 1999, just two years after getting married and one year after their son was born, De Niro filed for divorce. The couple also engaged in a custody dispute over Elliott, who was a baby at the time. Ultimately, they reconciled, never finalizing their divorce. In 2004, they renewed their vows. De Niro has been married once before. In 1976, he married Diahnne Abbott. Together, they have a son named Raphael. De Niro also adopted Diahnne’s daughter, Drena De Niro. It is through these two that De Niro has four grandchildren. He split from Diahnne in 1988. In 1995, he had twin sons, Aaron Kendrick and Julian Henry de Niro. They were conceived via in vitro fertilization and delivered via surrogate during his relationship with Toukie Smith. Despite his generally very good political views, De Niro has not been without controversy. Part of that controversy arose from De Niro’s interest in autism, as his son Elliott is autistic. Most infamously, in 2016, many of his fans felt betrayed when he supported Vaxxed for the Tribeca Film Festival. Vaxxed is an absurd “documentary” that purportes a widely debunked theory that there’s been a cover-up over a causal link between vaccines and autism. De Niro ultimately withdrew his recommendation after discussing the film with the scientific community. (Obviously, not only do vaccines not cause autism, but even if they did, only a monster would prefer a dead neurotypical child to a living and healthy autistic kid) It came to light that Andrew Wakefield, the film’s infamous director, had been in contact with Hightower. Wakefield reportedly told the couple “your family’s life [has] been blighted by autism.” Sometimes people with special agendas target celebrities with misinformation in order to gain a platform for their ideas. Has fallout over this disagreement played a role in the downfall of this marriage? We honestly have no idea. They’ve been married since 1997, folks. All relationships, all marriages, end one way or another. Perhaps it is simply time for them to move on. Or maybe they’ll work things out again and, in a few years, they’ll renew their vows. We wish their entire family the best. View Slideshow: 19 Most Bitter Breakups in Hollywood History

Mahershala Ali And Viggo Mortensen Tells Stories Of People Butchering Their Names

Continue reading here:

Make it a priority to go see Green Book starring Mahershala Ali. The movie tells the story of an unlikely friendship between Dr. Don Shirley a black classical pianist and Tony Lip Vallelonga an Italian bouncer who gets hired to drive Dr. Shirley through the Jim Crow south for a string of performances in a bunch of whites-only venues. I sat down with Mahershala Ali and Viggo Mortensen , the stars of Green Book for an interview about the film where they open up about two of the best-acted roles of the year. You are likely to hear their names mentioned all throughout awards seasons. They chatted about working with one another, falling into these characters and we even got a laugh about how people mispronounce their names. Mahershala who puts on an epic performance as Dr. Don Shirley reveals they started building their chemistry before they started filming, “There is no greater feeling in acting, or in this craft than to work with somebody you feel like you’re with every step of the way. We just really did the dance from before we started shooting. From sitting in the hotel in New Orleans going through the script and reading it through together and we locked into something really early and it just never left us.” Green Book is one of the best movies of the year and right now it’s number 1 on my list. When I sit down and go back over all the movies I have seen this one will rank high on my list of movies. I’m sure you’ll see it in a bunch of top 10 list of other popular top ten list as well. There has been a lot of chatter about this movie and how it’s told from Tony’s perspective but in my opinion that doesn’t take away from the quality of the film. While this is a feel-good movie, there isn’t anything wrong with that. America is a racist country that continues to this day to have deep roots in that flawed ideology and just because one movie decides to tell the story of two people coming together despite their differences doesn’t mean it’s implying that racism is over. It’s just a story. The more movies they make like this the closer we get to a place where we can all get along. Green Book hits theaters everywhere Wednesday, go see with the family after Thanksgiving dinner.

Michael B Jordan & Tessa Thompson On Creed 2 Bodies, Black Love & More | Extra Butter

Go here to see the original:

Creed 2 is coming back bigger and better than ever. For Adonis the stakes are higher this time around, fighting is nothing new to him, he had to fight for everything he’s got so far so it’s no surprise that he will have to fight even harder to keep it. On today’s episode of Extra Butter with Xilla Valentine we take a deep dive into Creed II as we chat with Michael B Jordan, Tessa Thompson, Dolph Lundgren , and Florian Munteanu as well as director Steven Caple Jr, who was hand-picked by Ryan Coogler to take over the franchise. In order to fully understand this story, you gotta go back to 1985 when Russian boxer Ivan Drago killed Adonis’s father Apollo Creed in a tragic match that stunned the world. The former heavyweight champion died on live tv after fighting Ivan against the wishes of trainer Rocky Balboa. Rocky had to get into the ring with Ivan to avenge his friend’s death, but after that loss Ivan loss everything back home in Russia and has trained his son Viktor to be bigger and better than he was in his prime. So the rise of Apollo’s son Adonis Johnson Creed to champion, Ivan feels like this is the perfect time for redemption in order to get back all that was lost. Michael B Jordan gets to show off his acting ability in this movie by showing strength, emotion, athleticism and much more. He laughs, cries and fights all throughout this film. I talked to him about showing off his range. “It was incredible. This was the first time I’ve been able to do a sequel to any film that I’ve done before. I get to take this character to the next level, to show Adonis advance in his career and his relationship by really showing what black love really is. Giving him a family of his own, fatherhood something he never really knew how to do because he didn’t really have that growing up. We just wanted to challenge him in all aspects of life and see how he responds to it.” The visuals for this film are off the hook, if you have seen the trailer you know there is a dope sequence when Adonis trains as Muhammad Ali trained by shadow boxing underwater. Steven told me, “We wanted to pay homage but also we did something that was new, which was shadowboxing underwater and then lift out of the water with Michael, and the camera then goes back under water. It’s real boxing stuff. Michael also had ankle weights attached to his body so he could stay under which was super dangerous but it helped keep him grounded.” It’s an epic shot for an amazing movie filled with great fight sequences and a heartfelt story. Michael even took a punch to the chin when first-time actor Florian Munteanu got too wrapped up in his character and blacked out. Watch until the end of the video to hear that story. Creed 2 is in theaters everywhere tomorrow.

Michael B. Jordan: ‘Black Women Are Amazing’

Source: Daniel Zuchnik / Getty #TeamBeautiful was on the red black carpet at the world premiere for Creed II where we caught up with the stars of the film Michael B. Jordan , Florian Munteanu and other celebs who were out enjoying a good movie (and after party) on a Wednesday night. When talking about his co-star Tessa Thompson, MBJ highlighted the brilliance and resilience of Black women, toting that his mother is a beautiful Black woman who raised him. “Black women are amazing. What’s not to say about them,” he gushed. As for his opponent, newcomer Florian Munteanu, he calls MBJ a “brother” and welcomes all the attention he’s going to get from die-hard Michael B. The Rewind: It’s Scary In The Water! The Meg Is Coming To DVD And Takeoff Drops A Solo LP

See original here:

Source: The Rewind / Global Grind Global Grind’s bullies, DJ Franchise and Landon Levarius are back once again for another episode of The Rewind . Every week we get our experts to discuss the cultural happenings of the last week and then rate them from a 1-10. In case you have been living under a rock, The Rewind will always be here to get you right. Last week, Takeoff released his first ever solo project outside of the Migos. The album is titled “The Last Rocket” and dropped on November 2nd. Did he indeed take off? It’s been often said that Takeoff, although rather silent and less outgoing than his counterparts, is the better rapper of the three Migos.  Despite getting left off “Bad & Bougie”, Takeoff manages to hold his own. However, does being the better Migos rapper necessarily make him a great lyricist? DJ Franchise and Landon Levarius are super hip hop heads and they’ve got a lot to say. Landon actually enjoys the fact that Takeoff doesn’t mumble rap for the entire album, citing that “The Martian”, the album’s first track, is his favorite. While Landon, being the Southerner that he is,  is rocking with Takeoff’s latest effort, DJ Franchise is not feeling it one bit. The words “sucked” and “garbage” were thrown around a few times, actually. Landon and Franchise debate the Takeoff album and then fire off with their 1 to 10 rating. Find out what they had to say when you press play. Also, The Meg is coming to DVD very very soon. The film, which stars Jason Statham,  is about a rescue diver who has been recruited to save an underwater crew from a 75 foot long prehistoric shark known as the Megalodon that was previously thought to be extinct but ends up attacking a deep sea submersible. The film hit theaters in early August and is now set to be released on DVD on November 13th. Do you think Landon Levarius and DJ Franchise are excited to watch the film at home? The two have a difference in opinion once again. One person thinks the movie completely sucked and the other thinks it was great! Find out what they rate The Meg  and whether or not you should check it out for yourself when you watch this week’s episode of Global Grind’s The Rewind .

Tiffany Haddish Is Nobody’s Fool When It Comes To Tyler Perry Trying To Convince Us That Whoopi Doesn’t Smoke | Extra Butter

Tyler Perry might have just made his best movie ever with Nobody’s Fool . The film is a deep dive into the world of catfishing that stars Tika Sumpter as Danica who is in a year-long relationship with a man she’s never seen in person before. Things are going well until she gets a call from her mother played by Whoopi Goldberg that her sister, played by Tiffany Haddish is coming home from jail and has to live with her. After doing some investigation, Tiffany calls up Nev and Max from MTV’s  Catfish to find out if her sister is truly being catfished and the movie goes full steam ahead from there. On today’s episode of Extra Butter with Xilla Valentine we get the honor of chatting with the legendary Whoopi Goldberg, along with Tyler Perry, Tiffany Haddish, Omari Hardwick , Tika Sumpter, and Amber Riley to go behind the scenes of Nobody’s Fool, which is in theaters everywhere this Friday, November 2nd 2018. After I watched the film, I found out a lot of people felt like I did, that this was the best Tyler Perry movie we’ve ever seen. Now love them or hate them Tyler’s movies have a reputation. So when I sat down with the writer, director, and producer of Nobody’s Fool I had to get his opinion on what this meant to him. Tyler told us, “If I’m not trying to continue to get better then I’m not doing my job man. I’m almost 50 and I’ve been in this thing 25 years so I got to keep improving, I’ve got to do something different. This is also the first movie with Paramount so it’s a whole different ballgame for me over there.” Tyler goes on to explain that he didn’t want to have Whoopi Goldberg and Tiffany Haddish in this movie and restrain their comedic minds to doing a PG 13 movie. There is also a special secret cameo in this film that will leave you in tears. Like real tears from laughter. I swear I might have seen a few people literally rolling on the floor in laughter in my theater. I also asked Tyler and Tiffany if either one of them got to smoke with Whoopi, she’s been a big champion of the medical benefits fo marijuana and even has her own line of products for cramps and other pain. Tyler might not have been aware of that because he insisted that Whoopi didn’t smoke, only partakes in a glass of red wine every now and then. Tiffany, on the other hand, disagreed saying that if she doesn’t smoke, she must have had the BEST prop in the world. Whoopi expanded by saying she was the only one who smokes and that she believes in the healing power of marijuana calling it, “the perfect medication.” Trust the entire exchange is super funny and worth watching on this episode of Extra Butter with Xilla Valentine and be sure to go see Nobody’s Fool in theaters November 2nd.
